Lord & Taylor

Shoe Department is a mess. Wanted A particular pair of boots and it was like I was asking for the holy grail. Never in my life have I seen so many people unwilling to help a customer. Once I was able to find someone to help me (mind you it wasn’t busy at all — I just think everyone forgot to take their purple pill that morning) the concept of ordering the shoes online or calling another store to find out their inventory was not an option for some reason even though plenty of other lord and Taylor’s do so. Nevertheless, I will never go back to this Lord & Taylor in the mall, especially when Nordstroms is so close and have never had an experience like this there.

I was in the women’s dept. today because I needed help with a dress I bought. The sales associate said she needed to get her manager Kelli.
When Kelli stormed over to me with an attitude I knew there was going to be a problem. I told her that the dress I bought had one strap an inch longer than the other and I could not wear the dress. I had taken the tags off and threw them out because I planned on wearing the dress and not returning it. I offered to put the dress on to show her but she said I won’t make you do that. She preceded to tell me next time I try on a dress, wear the right bra and don’t have a tank top on. Well on top of the dirty looks, her telling me how to dress in front of a line of customers that were behind me, the embarrassment I went through with her I would NEVER return to that Lord & Taylor store again. The dress was made wrong and that was not might fault. The dress cost $ 194 and I couldn’t even wear it. I didn’t need to be treated like that. Kelli needs to go through a customer service program. I’ll now shop at Nordstrom.

This is one of my favorite department stores in New Jersey. The prices are affordable and the staff is very helpful and friendly.
Lord & Taylor offers quite a variety of goods. They have man’s clothing, women’s clothing, accessories, make up, shoes, and handbags. Majority of these goods are branded. Price varies per brand but some are cheaper than buying at the actual store (some things, not all).

Stylishness per dollar spent at L&T is the best of any department store, period. Take Brooks Brothers, but make it at Target prices (with the multiple discounts available at Lord & Taylor). The Black Brown 1826 house brand is great– designed by Joseph Abboud, it could have its own chain and do well.
