I’ve been meaning to write this review for awhile now. Extremely disappointed in this establishment, I do not recommend it ATALL. I had a horrible experience here. I was a Fredericksburg local and decided to have a little tea birthday party. My party only consisted of about five people and the place itself was pretty empty. We were seated and then as soon as the manager/owner/whatever found out that we were only ordering tea,(ITS A TEAROOM) she started getting mad at us and tried dumping us out. Lmao. That’s only the beginning. My parents literally had to pull her aside and compromise that we’d buy a few cakes and only stay for like 45 mins. To put salt in the wound, there was multiple, wiry hairs found in a tea kettle– delightful! haha. When they sang happy birthday to me they even got my name wrong when I had clearly stated it to them. My friends were getting upset for me because they were so rude. Never ever going there again. Had a much better experience at Pinkadillys Tea which is also located in downtown Fred.

Great place! Employee was extremely friendly, and made great coffee. I also enjoyed the bon Bons.

The official website for this establishment doesn’t match the prices or product that you receive at the establishment. My friend wanted to take her mom here for her birthday for a Royal Tea service. We make a hobby out of going«to tea» and have frequented many different places and styles of tea over the years from high tea to casual afternoon teas. This location touts a royal tea but it wasn’t exactly the tea we had expected.(Which isn’t their fault exactly… just a little dissapointing which is why I am writing this review.) My friend made a reservation for three, and upon arrival we assumed our food would be ready for us. Every reservation tea service we have ever done works this way. The girl who recieved us was slow to come take our order and seemed more interested in playing on her cell phone. Even after prompting it still took her a minute to come to the table. Once she got started she was friendly and accomodating. The royal tea here only comes with one shared pot of tea. There was a long list of tea to choose from and they had a lot of variety but it is a shame that everyone needed to share one flavor and one pot.(We had to order a small individual serving size pot on the side to try something else.) This may seem like a snooty thing to point out, and while it may not seem like a big deal it wasn’t what I have ever experienced for a ROYALTEA(and with and 50.00 price tag…) it wouldn’t have been unreasonable for everyone to have their own flavor in an inividual pot. We were asked to choose three sandwiches from a list, and flavor scone for each which I have never experienced before. The scones were small and hard. The lemon scone’s texture was more like a cookie, and the raspberry white chocolate scone had a good flavor but was chewy. The pecan bite and brownie was delicious. Despite there being three of us, there were only two merengue cookies and two pecan bites. The location is cute and victorian themed. It was clean and they provided accomodation for my 8 month old son in the form of a high chair and a small basket of toys to play with(which was really sweet and thoughtful). I am just writing this review to let other frequent tea — goers like myself know what to expect, not to bash it. The royal tea was more like a casual tea, the website is inaccurate, and the prices really don’t reflect the product you will recieve.

This place is very quaint, very inviting. We loved the antique look and feel and the ambiance. The food tasted great! The reason for the two stars is because of the price for the portion size. Far to little food for the price. I know tea shops typically have small sizes but this was expensive for the size and the food wasn’t local, homemade, etc. I would love to come back for tea and light desserts but won’t each ‘lunch’ here again.

Not even close. I have had afternoon tea in many different places. This was my only miss and it missed big time. I ordered the afternoon tea service. The tea was stale. There was no sugar or cream brought with the tea. For the price, I am used to at least a three tiered service with an assortment of sandwiches, desserts and scones. Here I got one sandwich and two flattened pieces of faux scone and a small chocolate chip Costco muffin. I should have walked two blocks up the street to Pinkadilly. Don’t bother.

This was such a cute little find! My husband and I visit downtown Fredericksburg a few times a year and we just love all the cute shops! Some of our favorite places to spend time are tea and coffee shops. This place was so cute and cozy. The décor was wonderful and really added to the overall atmosphere. The tea selection was wonderful! I would recommend the hibiscus tea. It’s very different but has a nice tart flavor to it! This is a must see if you are looking for a nice place to enjoy a cup of hot tea by yourself or with friends!

I give Tea Tyme 3-stars based on an average of 4-stars for the atmosphere and service and 2-stars on being mislead by the owner. We came across Tea Tyme by accident. As another reviewer stated it is way inside an old cinema turned mall. The décor is victorian and very charming. The tea was good. The scones looked good. I would go back. It was a nice, quite, pleasant atmosphere. But, I have one complaint. The owner told my marine son-in-law that we get a 10% discount because he was a marine(I guess it was obvious from the hair-cut). He went to pay with credit card(they state they accept cc) but the owner told him she had closed out the credit card service for the day(I have no idea what that means, never heard this one before) and use the cash machine to get cash. Pooh — if you stste you take credit cards — take it. Seems like she wanted to get her discount back. We didn’t ask for the discount, it was offered.

The best things in life are those that are felt with the heart and not seen with the eyes. To the cynic, a dream is but a silly vision. To the visionary, it is an idea. To the entrepreneur, it is a way to give happiness. Every time I come to this place, I experience happiness. The food is brilliant and the tea is great, but the atmosphere is exceptional. I have been all over the world and only a handful of places have made me feel the way I do here. I urge anyone with an open mind to come experience a bit of culture and escape from the mundane. We are alive only for a little while and it would be disappointing to live any way but happily. Come for the experience. You won’t be disappointed.

I was so happy with our experience here! The ambiance is wonderful, I felt so fancy. We got Pumpkin Spice tea, which had a lot of great layers to it. Being able to see the people making our food was pretty nice, it felt good knowing it wasn’t all pre-made or anything. The salad was really yummy, loved the dressing. But the best part was my sandwich. I got what I believe was something like Veggie Tyme, it’s the first sandwich listed. Oh my goodness, it is literally the best sandwich I have ever had, hands down. I could not believe the flavor party happening in my mouth, pure heaven! My fiancé got the fruit chicken salad and really liked that as well. For dessert we got the tea cakes(which were kind of just chocolate chip muffins. I was unimpressed but my fiancé loved them) and a cranberry orange scone, which was soooo good. However, there was another couple there, and the owner kind of kept hovering over them, trying to get them to buy jewelry. I was grateful they were there so she wasn’t bothering us(then again, we may just not look like the jewelry buying type). I think it’d be better if she just let people browse on their own and didn’t push so much, but honestly that was the only negative. The food and tea here is perfect, and we plan to come back again.

This is a great place to eat & of course enjoy a cup of tea. They have a very large variety of teas to select from. Sandwiches are quite large and the salads have really great flavor. I’ve never had these kinds of chicken salad, they are very tasty. Very cozy and classy on the inside you almost miss this place as it’s buried back in a mini mall type area with sign that says«The Galleria». Highly recommend for if you are looking for something good to eat, very reasonable prices & super friendly service.

I would give it negative stars, if it were possible. Lured in by an older gentleman who was handed us a free sample on the street. Tea Tyme is located in a run down building on the main shopping district of Fredericksburg. It was ridiculously hot in there, I asked if they could turn on the AC. 40 plus minutes later it was on, someone informed me that they had turned it on, but didn’t turn on the on switch. Go figure. No one there knew what the hell was going on in there. I have nut allergies, but no one could tell me what had nuts and what didn’t. I should have left, when this was the only problem because it only got worse. … I had taken my mom there as a treat. We ordered the most expensive tea service on the menu, but she wanted a small sample of the other salads(tuna, chicken, etc), and they were very UNaccommodating, I finally said OMG just charge us whatever extra you want to and give her a freaking scoop of each. It took FOREVER to get the food must’ve been at least an hour(they didn’t even bring out the freaking tea), and to be honest there really wasn’t THAT much food there for $ 50! It was a VERY small 3 tiered plate and a total of 3 sandwiches cut up, two of the smallest tea cakes ever, 2 very small cookies and 2 scones(that were cut in half). We had to ask for marmalade and clotted cream, which they brought out maybe a tablespoon of each, for two of us! They didn’t have a tray to smell the different teas, either. You had to just guess what they were going to taste like?! I’ve been to a lot of different tea shops. This was a HUGE disappointment. Their dishes were nice, but my daughter accidentally pulled one off the table, she’s 9 months old. It broke, she charged us for it! She was trying to tell me that she paid $ 14 for a small saucer, really? Come on. Why would you buy antiques to use for in a restaurant? I have no problem paying for the dish, but the second it happened, the owner came running out of the kitchen, yelling and screaming. Cleared our table, food and all and promptly showed us the door. Did we get a doggie bag with the rest of our food in it? HELLNO. I do NOT suggest this establishment to anyone, especially anyone with young children. Overall it was a horrible atmosphere, experience, and waste of money.

I’ve been to this tea shop several times and it’s been wonderful each time. The owner is very friendly, and the teas are delicious. I highly recommend the Ice Wine tea! I also like the sandwiches and scones quite a bit. The shop is tucked away inside a former movie theater, but the Victorian décor inside is bright and cheery. I’ll definitely be going back!

I have been there several times and always have a great experience. The owners are very nice and are kid friendly. I go often with a friend and her infant and three year old and have never had a problem. I highly recomend the scones!

Tea Tyme is undoubtedly suffering from their poor location deep inside a creepy cinema-turned-mall on the main drag of Fredericksburg. A few of us happened by and were offered samples of their curry chicken salad, which is very tasty and drew us in to the shop itself. Cute concept, exceptionally friendly staff, and over the top décor makes for a pretty setting for a formal tea or just a quick lunch. We went the quick lunch route, ordering one veggie sandwich, one curry chicken on croissant and one curry chicken on lettuce. $ 7 sandwiches were admittedly a little weak, but my salad took the cake. Another $ 7 for less than one cup of romaine and three scoops of curry chicken salad that were hardly larger than a melon ball. So disappointing. We were all still so hungry we ordered dessert, and after finding out that all of them are pre-made except the scones which are baked fresh daily, we went with that option. They were good but not great, and all in all it was probably not worth the money. If you head in, do it for tea and scones alone!

I used to live upstairs from this shop. The sandwiches were always good and has a good selection of teas. I always enjoyed the chicken salad or the curry chicken. I’ve never eaten in, always have taken to go. Since it’s decorated in a victorian theme, that means lots of lace and doilies and of course the little scary dollies. ~

I was really disappointed when I saw the shop, and even more so after the food. It’s essentially in a run-down old cinema, and is small, dark, and dreary. It does have a Victorian feel, but still has the«run down» feel to it. The shop portion didn’t have much of a selection of gifts at all, and was in a small corner of the store. As for the food… I could make a better sandwich at home, and not pay $ 7 for it! Three of us ordered three different things, two sandwiches and their«new» salad. It took them forever to bring them out, and my club sandwich was just tiny pieces of white bread with a strip of bacon and piece of turkey and ham, with some sad-looking lettuce. The side was two fork-fulls of potato salad you get at the grocery store. The salad they offer as a side was two fork-fulls of lettuce. They didn’t even bring out the sides WITH your food, they bring them out first. My mom’s salad came out about 10 minutes after our sandwiches, so we were already done as she was just starting. We decided to give dessert a try because we like scones… but when they brought them out, we thought they were cookies! Small, and totally flat. They tasted ok, but again, not a scone and just ok. The owner of the store was VERY pushy and kept touching us. Telling us we should buy this or that, pushing us to schedule a tea party for a bridal shower there. Yet when it came time to refill drinks(which they didn’t tell us you don’t get refills on, despite what the menu said) or bring our food… no where to be found. They’re obviously capitalizing on the fact that they’re a «tea shop» and charge waaaay too much for what you get. For $ 50 with tip, we were ripped off. Needless to say, I can make a better sandwich and cup of tea at home, and won’t be going back.

This was a lovely place for a girls’ day out. Nice cozy atmosphere. It is not the best tea house I have ever been to, but it’s certainly good enough. Decent prices, and it would be a fine place for a girly visit with mom, or a special girls day with a little girl.

The hot chai tea is pretty good here. It comes with whip cream and really yummy sprinkles that are slightly crunchy. The drink may be a bit heavy, sugary depending on your taste preferences. Sandwiches are nothing spectacular but decent. Expensive considering they use cheap bagged bread. Sides are not special. Scones are okay and there’s usually a few flavors. I’ve never bought scones from a restaurant so I can’t really compare. Huge selection of loose leaf teas that you can also buy by weight. They will let you smell the tea. A pot of tea is quite pricey considering one can boil some at home for less than a buck. They also have petite fours and cheesecake slices but I don’t think they are baked in house. They have a selection of jewelry(that I thought was made by the owner but a jewelry maker friend of mine says the jewelry is imported and bought at wholesale). Anyway, there are a wide selection of crystals(though I’m not sure if they are Swarovski or not but they do look nice). Good prices for crystal jewelry. Service can be slow during busy times as it seems they are not well staffed. P. s. Take note of the other reviews. The owner may be friendly on the surface but she can be very pushy. This is enough for me to avoid this place.
