We recently did a call ahead bulk order for family, prior to their scheduled opening time. The guy on the phone was super pleasant and helpful. We arranged our pick up time appx 1.5 hours from our phone order time. We arrived to the food truck 5 minutes late and went to pick up window. Were told to go stand in line at order window. Once we made our way to the front, we were told it would be about 20 minutes(it was). The food wasn’t actually packed and ready for us, which was a bummer, since we were on a tight schedule. We ordered the ribs, pulled pork, whole chicken, sausage, turkey legs, collards, mac n cheese, green beans, cole slaw and baked beans. They sadly, did not have brisket that day. The pulled pork was on point. Deep, deep, lingering smoke flavor and moist! No sauce required. The ribs were not overly tender and definitely not fall off the bone, but the flavor and abundance of meat was fantastic! Chicken also had deep smoke flavor and it is cut up into manageable pieces, but was a bit dry. Sausage with peppers and onions was delicious, but the veggies could have used a bit of grilling time. Turkey leg was overly blackened on the outside with a strong charcoal flavor. Was ok once the skin was removed. The sides definitely are not their strong suit. The green beans are the canned variety that have the little sliced white potatoes and they tasted straight from the can with no added oomph. Baked beans also seemed like bulk canned with maybe a bit of added flavor? Added onions or pork would make them them stand out. Definitely not in my top 10. Collards had a flavoring I had never experienced, very sweet and not delicious. Mac and cheese was just ok. Kind of mooshy and also lacking any real flavor. Cole slaw was bone dry. The little ramekins of bbq sauce on the side were not needed as the meat stood alone just fine, plus it tasted mostly of ketchup. We will 100% be back, but only for the amazing pulled pork, yummy sausage, meaty ribs and to try out brisket, which is my favorite smoker meat. Hopefully it won’t disappoint! I suggest skipping the sides and overindulging in the meats.

Great pulled pork! Tried the brisket, didn’t like that it was chopped, like sliced like in Georgia. Will continue to support them!

Ok, really it is not that good. Famous Daves actually is better. This is one of the first businesses I have come across with this many ratings all 5 star. Interesting!

I took a day trip out to Fredericksburg with the lady on a beautiful Sunday a couple weeks ago and was craving BBQ after church. The BBQ market isn’t as saturated as Texas, so anytime I can try a new spot I will. I ordered the rib tip sandwich, which was a heaping serving, and the pulled pork sandwich. Both were smoky and flavorful and honestly didn’t need BBQ sauce, but I understand that many Yankees like the sauce if that’s your thing. I also ordered a side of Mac n cheese with baked beans and give those two thumbs up. Don’t underestimate the love they put into the food because the truck and smoker is in a title loan parking lot. They know what they’re doing.

They need to add more stars than five for this place. I don’t believe I’ve ever tasted better bbq anywhere in the country! Don’t drive by this place and wonder like I did for so many years. Pull on and try it. You’ll be glad you did.

Few people can agree on what makes good BBQ! However, most can agree on what makes BBQGOOD! Quality meats, and ingredients, time-honored family recipes, properly proportioned heat and smoke, and finally risking sounding trite… LOVE! I so appreciated many of the other reviews for this place! One called to mind the cleanliness of the entire operation! No matter where you look, even the trash cans are clean! One was a bit critical about a lack of smoke! It just reinforces my point about how we all enjoy divergent tastes and for me, McCoy’s hits all my wickets! The meats are all delicious! I just finished ribs and chicken. Last time we had pulled pork as well! COMEEARLY if you want brisket! I have yet to connect with this delicacy! When was the last time someone raved about the SIDES??? If you try their smoked Mac & Cheese, you will not enjoy any other! Smoked Baked Beans, Smoked collards… let that sink in for a moment… SMOKEDCOLLARDS! They also offer slaw and other selections. I have been to an event catered by McCoys! Oh YES they will smoke ON-SITE! Their staff is friendly, attentive, again, the site is clean during and after the event! There is no other BBQ«joint» that puts it ALLTOGETHER like McCoys! Look them up, seek them out!, Give them a try! You will CERTAINLYNOT be sorry! ENJOY!

Really good bbq! The service is wonderful and they will happily help you with any questions you have if its your first time stopping by. Sometimes there can be a wait for items but it’s worth the wait. I especially appreciated that you can see how clean they keep everything! Highly recommended if your in the mood for bbq!

Don’t let the location fool you… the food is great. They cook out of barbecue trailers in an old gas station parking lot. I’m a big BBQ fan and this is the best smoked mac and cheese I’ve found. The pulled pork was good too. Non-existent choices for drinks… no sweet tea or lemonade… it’s hard to eat BBQ without a sweet tea! Overall, I would definitely stop here again. They were friendly too.

Totally awesome smoked bbq. We could taste that delicious smokey flavor in every item. We had the hot dogs, pulled pork, green beans, Mac n cheese and ½ chicken. The chicken and Mac n cheese where the best I’ve ever had in my life — not exaggerating. Everything was great. Super nice family running the place too. Glad I slammed on the breaks on rt3 to try it out.

The local isn’t the best. This truck is located in the parking lot of a local car wash and they are only here seasonally. But making the trip is well worth it for the best BBQ in Fredericksburg. As you approach you’ll smell the smoke from the RT3 this will guide you in. You will pay at the truck and while you wait you can feast your eyes on the huge frills and smokers used to cook this tender and succulent meal. Everything from the Meats to the sides taste like a home cooked meal and you won’t regret your purchase.

Amazing !!! Ignore any and all negative reviews and take it from a true southerner. I’m from Texas and errrrrbody in my family can grill and bar b q like NO other. I know REAL bar b q and this place is LEGIT ! Don’t forget the greens :) fredericksburg is very disappointing in the take out dept(coming from Texas where take out is on every corner… and in Austin where real authentic take out is on every corner) I know food and I know what I’m talking about :)

Let me preface this by saying that I am a big fan of smoked BBQ, but I was disappointed by this place after seeing the online reviews. The biggest positive I found was that the portion was a massive size for the price. It was probably one of the best food to price ratios I have seen in quite some time. Unfortunately, I was not overly impressed with the actual product. The smoke on the pulled pork was a bit too subtle for my liking and the default sauce they provided was just too sweet for my taste. I am someone who likes big smoke flavor from my BBQ at this place did not deliver that. The smoked mac and cheese was a HUGE let down. We were extremely excited to try this, but the pasta was far too overcooked. It was mush and the«smoke» flavor was nowhere to be found. The collard greens were actually pretty tasty, though so the entire meal was not disappointing. Even though this BBQ did not quite hit all my buttons, I can see why it is popular amongst the crowds. Fredericksburg is a terrible town for BBQ so I believe this joint wins by default.

Well worth the detour off 95. Just look for the smoke. You can always tell true Pit/Smoked BBQ when you can smell it before you can see it. Ordered the pulled pork sandwich 6 $. Had to eat it with a fork as it was too big for the bun — no complaints there. The sauce was a good smoky flavor served on the side. I ordered the Smoked Mac and Cheese side(small $ 2 serves 2 easily). Not sure I have ever tasted such a combination of smooth creamy sharp smoked cheesy goodness(and I am kinda a Mac and cheese snob). Absolutely worth the stop.

The Best BBQ in town… hands down! I recommend this restaurant to everyone, this is a must have. I’ve been going to them every other weekend during the spring/summer for years.

Came here on a rainy Saturday around 3−4pm. I ordered a half rack of ribs and a side of mac and cheese. The ribs were REALLY smokey. I’ve never had such smokey meat before. Dry rub was good but needed salt if you eat it dry. It needs the bbq sauce. You get a choice of bbq or vinegar sauce on the side. The mac and cheese was probably the best mac and cheese I’ve ever had. I don’t get why other restaurants serve such crappy mac and cheese. Hubby agreed that the mac and cheese was super good. Plenty of flavor and super creamy cheese. Hubby had the pulled pork sandwich with mac and cheese and green beans. They were out of corn and one other side I didn’t care for. And they were also out of hot dogs. He loved his sandwich. The meat was juicy and super smoky. So smoky that he said when he burped he felt like a cigarette smoker. He said the green beans tasted like they came out of a can but they added flavor to it. When we got there, there was one person ahead of us. When we left, about four more cars had parked. It took them a little while to get us our food. It wasn’t ridiculously long but it took longer than expected for simply packing up our food. Plus we were second in line so we weren’t sure what was taking so long.

Well I must say I have lived here for 15 years and dear God — where have I been? Amazingly friendly staff. Rack of ribs was tremendous! I’ve never had ribs this fantastic. Sides were incredible as well. Everything fresh and seasoned to perfection just the way it should be. Glad I found you after all this time. Do not eat BBQ anywhere else in Fredericksburg but here

Fantastic BBQ at a great price. Not much more really needs to be said. There are a few decent BBQ places in FB. Allmans used to be great and still is good on occasion. VABBQ is decent. And Famous Daves is OK if you don’t mind a chain. McCoy’s is in a whole different category. There Ribs are incredible. Juicy meaty and delicious. Add sauce to them and you have a masterpiece. The pulled pork, brisket, and chicken are also very good. The mac n cheese is also fantastic. The only problems are that they are only open on the weekend and sometimes can be very crowded. However, if you want the best BBQ in Fredericksburg, this is the place to go.

Located in a trailer perched precariously in front of a dubious looking car wash, well, I wasn’t too sure about this one. But, once we opened our car doors and were hit by the smoke from the outdoor meat smokers, we knew we had to try it. Once we got in line we started talking to other customers and discovered one had driven from Richmond, the other from Alexandria, and the third was local but purchased $ 200 worth of food for a family event. Her car was loaded up! Anyway, this is not unusual for this establishment. They are just that good. The best BBQ I’ve had since leaving Texas 20 years ago. There’s no indoor seating, and they’re only open on weekends during warm weather months. But I don’t care. The ribs, sauce, and smoked Mac and cheese is worth the wait.
