If it was jusr ambiance, cleanliness and helpful staff they would have it at the top! Your Chef uses frozen chicken, out of the bag rolls and he, sadly is nothing to write home about. Pass it on by, my freinds. Maybe they changed chefs since these other review were written, who knows? But, this is NOT quality food!

Bus boys were great, wait staff horrible. White gloves are great if they are clean. Know your wines Pinot is red unless I ask for blanc. Pinot means black. Great bottle list, limited by the glass. Chef vegetable was asparagus and… drum roll… only other vegetable on menu ASPARAGUS. Wow… I got stuff duck which came as a roll. Expected my typical food presentation, nope. Looked like pork roll in the grocery isle. I wouldn’t have given feedback but when the executive chef and Owner came to ask for our feedback we were treated like we were insulting him by letting him know our suggestions. We are accustomed to fine dining and never dine anywhere I’m getting frozen bar food. Our suggestions could have helped you bring in more upscale couples/families, but looking around at your 1970 décor and the six other customers from Gods waiting room are thrilled. Its Saturday night you should be packed, especially with Preakness. Guess your arrogance pays for everything.

We dined at the Silver Maple for dinner on a recent winery/vineyard tour of the area. This is definitely a place to try if you live in the area or are just visiting for a special occasion. The service was phenomenal. We were greeted by the chef and owner who helped out across the restaurant and was extremely welcoming. Our server wore white gloves and treated us like royalty. She was very knowledgeable and attentive, but not overly so. The atmosphere was lovely. We had a supremely romantic table in the Frederick room which was reminiscent of a traditional dining room in the beautiful historic home. Murals lined the walls and each table was lit by candlelight and clad with white table clothes and black napkins, simple and elegant in a cozy setting. Plus, I’m a sucker for restaurants with fire places. Unfortunately, the place was virtually empty during our 8pm reservation which made it a quieter setting than we usually like. I highly recommend giving the Silver Maple a try and getting more people in there; its a great fine dining location in an area I didn’t expect to find such. The wine list is extensive, as is the cocktail list. We had hands down the best wine of the day here, despite visiting a couple of wineries earlier. The grilled pepper appetizer was light and refreshing. Everything was fresh and came out piping hot. I ate the flank steak. While some reviewers suggest that the food wasn’t worth the price, let me refute that. I had an 8oz steak, served with jumbo shrimp and crab risotto for under $ 30. That is a pretty amazing deal in my book – of course, i didn’t come close to finishing so it was basically like purchasing two meals. The steak was cooked perfectly. The crab risotto was a little more done than I prefer a risotto, but it was seasoned well with a little kick. My boyfriend had the special which was crab stuffed chicken. I was too full to try it, but it also looked delicious. The whole dinner was lovely. I would like to go back in I ever venture up to Frederick from Arlington again. Try this place out if you are a local, it would be a shame if it didn’t last; it seems like an excellent addition to the area.

At this price I expect more. Some friends took m to the Silver Maple last week for the first time. The ambiance is wonderful. The old stone building and the wood floors are charming and cozy. This would make a great place for a romantic date. The drink prices are also reasonable for a high end restaurant. The food and service do not live up to the promise of the décor. I had the lamb chops which were perfectly cooked and crusted for a wonderful flavor and texture. The problem is they were served on an inedible bland cauliflower paste. In this price range I want to love everything on the plate Replacing the misguided cauliflower paste with almost anything else would have made this plate better. All I can say about the service is it was alright. When I pay this much for dinner I want to be wowed by the food and service. On this occasion I was disappointed by the food and underwhelmed by the service. This would be a 2 star review but I am adding a star for the outstanding live music that night.

White glove service in Frederick? It’s true! Stumbled upon a gem tonight. Why hadn’t I heard about it before? Where you ask? The Silver Maple — Restaurant & Wine Bar in Frederick. For all you locals, it is just past Trout Liquors. Everything from the friendly and accomdating staff, atmosphere, cocktails, wine and food. The complete dining experience. I love restaurants in downtown Frederick, however the hustle-bustle of it all can just be too much sometimes when you are just looking for a nice quiet evening with good friends, good food and good wine. How can you go wrong when the wine list has 199 wines?! Did someone say cocktails? The martini’s of martini’s. I had a Strawberry balsamic martini and Nancy a Cucumber martini. Both incredibly refreshing. I could definitely have more of those! Wine: Red wine with dinner, a staple if you ever dine with Nancy and I. Tonights selection: Newton Claret 2009, a Napa wine. A Merlot/Cabernet Sauvignon/Syrah blend. Loved it! Starters: I started with the Cream of Crab soup. What a delight! Each spoonful packed with chucks of fresh crab meat. Absolutely wonderful. So wonderful I forced myself to stop eating it to save room for dinner. Don’t worry it did not go to waste, I had them put it in a to-go container! My friend started with the Grilled Rainbow Peppers. A trio of grilled sweet bell peppers with goat cheese, toasted pine nuts olive oil and balsimic. Entrée’s: I had the Rock Fish, Nancy the Angus Fillet. Both prepared by a master chef. Complete with the Owner/Executive Chef Jason Routzahn visiting our table. Desserts: Crème Brulee — smooth and delishious just as I suspected it would be. I am a sucker for a good crème brûlée Chocolate Torte — O.M.G. this was the tortes of tortes. Seriously! Chocolate and caramel, then sprinkled with sea salt. This is to die for. The perfect combination of sweet and salty. Would I recommend dining here? ABSOLUTELY! Such a wonderful dining experience. Incredible food. Quiet atmosphere. Extensive wine list. White glove service. What more could one ask for? Simply perfection.

Nice quiet place to enjoy a special occasion. Tables are not on top of each other and wine list has a good variety. The staff is enthusiastic and gives 110%. Nice specials and regular choices. The chef came out to speak with us after dinner. No parking meters or garages to deal with. This is our new favorite spot.

I forgot to review this place when we went for brunch… my future in laws raved about it and were excited to take us. We were looking forward to trying a new place. It was very quaint and looked nicely restored besides the uneven flooring. The little wine bar in the back was cute, and we liked the idea you could sit outside with the propane heaters. When we went to order the menu looked good. I wanted to get an omlette, but I wanted egg whites so I asked the waiter if that was possible. He came back with a «No.» I never understand when places say they can’t subs. Are you telling me you don’t have fresh eggs and can’t separate the whites? What the hell? Anyway, half of our party got the crab omlette which was expensive and small and only came with a few slices of fruit on the side. Soups were salty. I ordered the steak and eggs and it was a sodium-laden overly sauced mess. I tried to eat it and convince myself it was fine, but I did not enjoy it. I felt like I had to put on a good face for my in-laws who loved it so much. We looked at the dinner menu and thought maybe we’d come back and try it… but after considering what we got for brunch… we’re not going to give it another shot.

Just got back from a birthday dinner at Silver Maple. I had the duck and hubby had the hangar steak with risotto. The duck was a touch chewy, but the flavor was excellent and the accompanying sweet potatoes were very good. I also had the beet salad which was delicious — field greens with warm beets, goat cheese and a little balsamic. Very tasty. I didn’t care for my taste of my husband’s meal, but he liked it (and I have never been a risotto fan). For dessert, we split the chocolate caramel torte with sea salt, which was absolutely yummy. Service was very professional, unobtrusive, but prompt and polite.

I went with a couple of friends for lunch. The hot food was barely warm, the portions were stingy and the prices were inflated. We won’t be returning again.

Have not been to the restaurant yet but we enjoyed their food at a catered event to raise money for Frederick Hospice. The food was excellent and the standout of the event amongst many other local restaurants. Definitely worth trying the restaurant. I will be going shortly and will add to my review.
