This place is absolutely fabulous. I work at Ft. Detrick and this is my absolute favorite place to eat lunch. They have EVERYTHING on their menu. Hot and cold sandwiches, cheesesteaks, chicken parm, breakfast etc. I have never had anything that was not delicious or amazing. The hush puppies, surfin’ sauce, and clearly handmade ranch dressing are all obsessions for me now. The club sandwiches are so huge I have to ask them to leave out the middle piece of bread or I literally cannot fit them in my mouth. I love the beachy décor and fun atmosphere. I highly recommend this place!

Because of the great reviews on Unilocal,we were very excited about having a good sandwich place in Frederick. Unfortunately, it is not. As many other reviewers have pointed out, it was hard to find because they do not have a sign, but this is just a minor comment, since what counts is the food. We were hesitant to give a bad review, since it seems the owner is there working very hard all the time, but now that I’ve read about experience from others just like we experienced, I must submit this review. This is no real deli. My husband was there three times and I once. The sandwiches kept getting worse with each visit. FOOD: Soggy, not that flavorful, or in the case of some french fries, way too much in addition to soggy. During the last visit, we tried really hard to eat the food, but ended up leaving half each of a steak and onion and a reuben, and most of the fries. Inedible. SERVICE: They were really busy the last time we were there, but after waiting for a very long time, and seeing lots of people that came after us being served, we went to check what was happening with our order. It was ready but they had forgotten to call us. I am soooo disappointed that this place was not what we expected(especially after reading great reviews). We will not go back.

Delicious! Wonder what the negative reviews were about? Best BLT ever! Stopped on our way to Hershey, PA(from DC) and couldn’t wait to stop again on the way home! Very easy to find, to be fair there isn’t a name on the building, but look for the store in the complex without a sign — easy to find! Well worth the trip!

We had been here before and just got a couple of sandwiches. They were alright, but we didn’t come back for a couple months, not really impressed. But recently we came back and got a salad, a sandwich, and loaded fries. Nothing was good. Everything about the fries was soggy and they were cold. The salad was absolutely drenched in vinaigrette that was far too sweet, maybe it was a good(albeit limp) salad but neither of us could taste anything else. Like before, the sandwich was mediocre. The ingredients don’t taste fresh or high quality. But this time, the bread was stale and the sandwich filling was less than I remember having before. Definitely not worth the money.

Love the onion leashes. The Reuben was merely OK. Meat was average. Kraut was tasteless. Order the sauce on the side. The place was covered, and I’ll keep trying other lunches.

I decided to come to this sandwich shop based entirely on Unilocal reviews, so I feel let down. I really wanted to love it, and I came with the expectation that my review would echo the accolades I’ve otherwise noted here. To start… It was a little hard to find because there is no sign on the building. The window has a painted sign though, along with a hand made sign on a piece of poster board with magic marker advertising they cater. Inside… The array of tables and booths seemed discombobulated. The register area was cluttered and had some hand written signs for this or that. There is an odd sort of bar area that appeared to be a work area? It needed a good cleaning. I ordered the«onion leashes»(onion straws, more like onion bits as it turns out). I then ordered the Banzai vegetarian sandwich, boasting three types of cheese with lettuce and tomato. Dining… I found a table — the booths all looked like they really wanted a thorough wiping with a strong disinfectant — and before I knew it the food was ready and delivered to the table. The server brought it in a cardboard box top that had definitely been used many times before. The«onion leashes» were tasty and crisp, the dipping sauce was also tasty. My sandwich looked promising, but failed to deliver. The cheese slices look like they had to be unwrapped individually to put on the bread, but there was a healthy dose of them. The tomatoes and lettuce were firm and good but swimming in mayo and mustard. As I sat there I noticed the floor… it really really needs a strong sweeping and industrial mopping. I hate that my visit didn’t turn out. I hoped I’d discovered another awesome place in Frederick. But, on the bright side: their prices are very good. For that specific reason I gave it 2 stars.

Ok. Disclaimer. I do not know these guys. I was not paid to write a review. This is my honest opinion. Now time for a quick history. I am an a hole food and especially sandwich snob from Baltimore. Review: This place is awesome. Holy mother Mary, this place kicks many sandwich chops into the wind then blows them away. The inside is caribe, beach, surf, chill. It is relaxing and casual. The sandwich menu is off of the chain. I got the Ruben. Totally open faced Ruben. I was skeptical, because bad Rubens ruin my vibe. This Ruben was great. Good sauce, good meat, good bread, good everything. It was put together and plated nicely. Portions were perfect without any ingredient overpowering the other. Only seasoned sandwich makers can make this. This guy was on point. I met Brendan(I hope I spelled it right) He asked me how my sandwich was. I told him, shook his hand and left. I highly recommend this place, before any other that I have seen in Frederick. The experience was like Anton Ego at Gustoffs. Rock on guys.

Went in to order 5 lunches to go. First ordered a buffalo chicken salad with no blue cheese or ranch dressing and balsamic on the side. Ordered four other sandwiches, two without onions. They put the order all in a bag and handed it to my sister and we walked out. Clearly I should have checked the order. The salad I ordered was made into a buffalo chicken sandwich that they put balsamic and ranch on. Oddly no other sandwich toppings. Just chicken drenched in 3 dressings and bread. Both sandwiches that we requested no onion had onion. They clearly struggled taking an order correctly. Won’t be going back.

Tried this place a couple times and turns out it just gets worse every time. The cheese steak is like eating hamburger helper on a stale roll. The loaded fries are swimming in cheese wiz or velveeta cheese and it is gross! The sandwiches are really poor quality and the flavors are not great at all! This place strives to be a beachy sandwich shop but fails in all areas! Much better places to eat in the area, especially if you want a good sandwich!

Good service. Sandwich was fresh and ingredients were quality. The twin fin club has a little too much bread for my taste and a touch on the sweet side. Still good though. I’ll just try something else next time.

I recommend the chicken pesto and Brie short board — it was delicious and an awesome price, but when I returned I was disappointed with other options. Black & blue wasn’t what I was expecting(more like steak and cheese meat) and the summer salad was good but way too much balsamic glaze. I’m sure I’ll be back because the prices are so good, and the service is friendly but I’ll be more careful about what I order.

As many other reviewers have noted, this shop is located in the Safeway shopping center on the uphill side of the L, at the uppermost end of the L from Safeway, at the end nearest to 7th St. I will also note that the map on the Unilocal page for this shop incorrectly shows it as being located on the opposite side of 7th St., and farther west than it really is. I discovered this place only early yesterday morning, entirely by accident, when I visited Unilocal and stumbled upon a new review for this shop. I am normally not much of a fan of sandwich shops, but in this case of the review that I stumbled upon, there was something about it that was so glowing that I clicked through to the Unilocal listing for the shop, whereupon I read a number of the other glowing reviews for this place as well. After reading just a few of the reviews, I realized that this place was quite special, and I promised myself that the next time I visited Frederick(I live in the mountains outside of Frederick, and it is about a 25 minute drive to get to this part of the city) I would definitely visit this shop and check out some of their offerings. Well, my opportunity to visit the shop came later that same day, as I needed to visit Frederick to run some errands, and I ended up getting to the shop at about 1PM. I found the shop still quite busy with a sizeable lunch crowd, and despite the fact that the line for ordering had about five people in it, the line moved very quickly and in no time at all I found myself at the register placing my order. Since I live so far away, and because I was already convinced that their food would be excellent, I decided to order several items to bring back home to try, and so I ordered sufficient food to ensure that there would still be food left over to put in the fridge for future meals. I ordered the fish and chips, and a couple of the short board fried fish sandwiches, and also the FGT Bacon(fried green tomato) short board sandwich on which I asked them to add a fried egg as well. When I got the food home, I tried each of the items, and everything was wonderful. The fried cod fish pieces in the fish and chips dish are quite sizeable, and the batter is quite good. The homemade Cajun tartar sauce was very good. The fish sandwich was downright amazing, and despite the fact that it was a short board sandwich, the size of the sandwich, and the size of the fried fish patty inside it, was extremely generous. One of the things that amazed me about each of the items that I had ordered was the fact that the serving sizes were very generous, and the amount of food that you get for the quite-inexpensive price for each item is quite amazing. The food is downright sumptuous, and the largely-organic menu offerings — on the very extensive menu — are very broad and creative, akin to the kind of menu selections that you might expect to find only in a restaurant operated by a famous chef in the French Quarter of New Orleans. Best, all of their breads and rolls are made at the shop, and are very good. I was pleasantly surprised to notice that each of the employees, all of whom seemed to be college-aged, seemed to be very happy and friendly, and helpful. This level of happiness and, friendliness is quite rare to find in the staffers of most shops nowadays, and I can only surmise that the employees at this shop must genuinely love working at the shop, and I can also guess that they were well-trained. BTW, the interior of the shop has a number of tables and chairs, and is very well lighted, and is nicely decorated with light colors, along the lines of a shop that would be found on the boardwalk near a surfing beach on the US West coast. So, the bottom line is that I became aware of the existence of this place entirely by accident thanks to Unilocal, and the shop turned out to be quite amazing in every way. I will definitely return! All of the food was delicious. In closing, I have only ONECOMPLAINT about this restaurant: The VERY sad reality is that they do NOT offer any brain dishes on their otherwise very extensive and highly creative menu: no brain sandwiches, no brain fritters, no brain tacos, no brain curry, no brain-and-egg omelettes, no pasta with brains in red sauce, no brain dishes at all. So, no pig brains, no calf brains, no goat brains, no sheep brains, no beef brains. Therefore, if you need to eat brains on a regular basis, as do I, then you cannot afford to eat solely at this place, as you would soon die of a dietary brain deficiency, and rather, you will need to go elsewhere for brains. Fortunately, several butcher shops and some Latino groceries in Frederick County sell frozen beef brains and frozen pig brains(and also tripe… yummy!), and you can stock up on frozen brains(and tripe, don’t forget the tripe!) at one of these shops and then cook it up to your heart’s content at home to eat with plenty of hot sauce.

My favorite is the BBQ chicken shortboard! The homemade bread and free mini cookie just makes it even better. I work nearby and all my coworkers love this place, too. The décor is a little corny but it’s a cute theme throughout. The staff is friendly, but some times can be a little slow. I always call ahead now! I’ve had the longboards, too.(Created my own ham) the vinaigrette is delicious.(Similar to oil /vinegar mixture most sub shops do) Carne Asada fries: and huge salads!

Omg… yum. I’ve been in this shopping center a dozen times and never known this existed. I assumed it was Chinese take out since all it says on the front is «Carry Out», you have to be in front to see the small sign in the window that reads«7th street sandwich shop». Me being the Unilocaler that I am, while I was grabbing a Starbucks next door… decided to Unilocal this place. Boy was I glad I gave this place a try. The décor reminds me a dingy beach shop, complete with 80’s beach music… but don’t let that stop you. The service is great, but the menu was too long… they could probably cut it in half! I’d check their menu out online before you go. I saw the open-faced Reuben on Unilocal and just asked for that and the hush puppies. Oh… em…gee…so good!!! The hush puppies were soft and full of flavor… good portion, I couldn’t finish by myself and the sandwich was huge! I could have easily shared it and been perfect. I hated to leave it unfinished as it was so yummy. The thousand island sauce was very good. I will definitely be taking my husband with me another time to share a bite with me! I also love that they have a selection of drinks in glass bottles.

Great little sandwich place in the Safeway plaza. There’s no sign for it and the outside just says«carry out» and is next to CVS. The inside is decorated with a beach hut with hand painted sea creatures, it’s clean and overall inviting. There are so many sandwich options that it was hard to choose so we just went for the most popular, the godfather which is an Italian and the maverick which is roast beef with cheddar. Both were good and huge, I think they were the long boards. I’d definitely come back to try other sandwiches! We also got the onion leashes which are onion strings and they were good as well; I really liked the dipping sauce they came with, which also happens to be really good on the sandwich. We got the large to share between 2 of us but it was huge and enough for 4… definitely get the small if you have less than 4 people. Only downside was that they didn’t have cups of water as their fountain machine was broken.

Wow, so this place is amazing! I am literally wish that I lived in Frederick just so I can eat here on a regular basis. I got the Crete island with fried green tomato and fried onion leashes, as well as old bay fries. My fiancé got something but I was too distracted by by and delicious food to remember. Either way, we were both in heaven! the fries were delicious, so flavorful and cooked just the way I like them, kind of dark like boardwalk fries, some crispy bits and some soft ones. The onion leashes were delicious! As was the dip they came with, and there was so much of them! I think it’s actually a pound, so I highly recommend getting one serving for the whole party and sharing. My sandwich was so delicious, so flavorful, literally one of the best sandwiches I’ve ever had which is saying a lot because I’m not that into sandwiches. If you are in the area, definitely definitely stop here, there are so many options on the menu for meat eaters and vegetarians alike, I promise everyone will be happy!

For what it is, a little family-owned sandwich shop in a shopping center, this place is great! Got the Avon Pier and Pesto Chicken. Both were delicious. The bread was really tasty! Also got the Onion Leashes… Beware: the order is HUGE(and only for $ 2)! But good, with a nice sauce.

Excellent! How had I not found this place before? The service was laid back, but good. The food was excellent. I loved the tiny little cookie surprise in each sandwich wrapper! I had the FGT Bacon(fried green tomato) sandwich and my friends got the chicken parm sandwich. Both were delicious. We shared the summer salad. I think I would get that as my entrée next time. So good! And, the reason this place was worth a try — the hush puppies. Excellent! It’s a little hard to find, because the lack of signage. It’s toward the end of the«L» opposite Safeway. Try it! It’s delicious!
