It is now closed for ever. Out of business. No longer taking orders. Will not reopen ever.

91 degrees and humid outside, no AC inside First, the food… we ordered breakfast and it wasn’t bad, but I could have made better breakfast at home. When we go out for breakfast we’re looking for something special, a little more oomph. I’d much prefer King Street Café or Franklin Café as a breakfast spot. Second, the experience… on a day where it’s 91 outside, it was crazy uncomfortable in the restaurant(between the other guests and the grill). There were ceiling fans running, but most of the patrons were either sweating in their seats or fanning themselves with menus. We were so uncomfortable we ate so fast, but ultimately couldn’t finish our meal due to the heat/humidity inside. Not sure if the AC was turned off to save money or if it was broken. Third, the staff… staff was very friendly. No issues at all with them. We did feel bad for them having to work in a sauna. We kept hearing them also talking about how hot it was in there. It wasn’t good for anyone. As nice as the staff was, the overall experience isn’t enough to make us go back. Even if the AC was working.

What a friendly local place! The coffee is excellent, especially compared to some chain places. You can sip and read a book, or use the WIFI. The staff are very nice and will customize orders so patrons receive exactly what they want. For breakfast I can’t recommend the Cinnamon French Toast, or an omelette. The omelets are the fluffy kind, not flat and the French toast is VERY cinnamon-y. I also love the sausage patties, I am not a fan of links with a casing. Rick bakes his own muffins, my favorite are the pumpkin ones he has in the fall and winter. For lunch and dinner you can’t go wrong with a burger, and they will even allow you to get a combo of fries and rings! These are of a very high quality meat, and a pretty large size. Try a milkshake with it, they bring you the metal mixing cup, too! While I am a regular at Rick’s, I have to say my one disappointment is the temperature. The air conditioning doesn’t work well, and in the hot point of the summer it can be almost unbearable. Rick has done his best with fans and a portable A/C, but this is a big infrastructure problem.

Good food and very good service. The omelets were large and very fluffy. The only complaint is that the place needs a facelift.

I hate to say it but the place has gone downhill and has become shoddy. We have been regulars for for at least 7 years, mostly breakfast, and the place needs an update. Last time we were here(a few weeks ago), the waitress was on her phone for a good ten minutes, serving while chatting with someone on the phone about how she had not been paid for a week and the place’s air conditioning was still not working(after two weeks). Place feel grimy and food tastes as if the equipment/grease needs changing. I know Rick works hard, but I wonder if his heart’s in it anymore.

Nice spot for breakfast and lunch. Kid-friendly, with all-American food options. I recommend the buffalo chicken wrap!

Um… yeah…no. This place is a fail. This is a diner, so the food should be somewhat predictable. To start with, our server was wearing tons of some off-brand cheap perfume(which affected everything we ate) and the food quality was WAY below average. For one, the sides of bacon we ordered came out ice cold, and tasted like suet. When we asked if they could redo the order, the cook(Rick…who I assume is the owner) came to get the bacon from the table, and threw it in a microwave. Just horrendous. My eggs(supposed to be medium) were runny, and gross. There is absolutely no reason to be this bad at making breakfast food… no reason at all. Especially when the place was dead. Seriously, save your money. This place is terrible.

Maybe I shouldn’t get hung up on hash as a litmus test for places that serve breakfast but if all they’re willing or able to do is open a can, how passionate can they be about their food? So, here we go again, canned hash. Home fries were OK. The eggs were over-easy as requested. Can’t think of a reason to go back.

Decent food — mostly come here if the other nearby breakfast places are already packed. The staff is very, very nice. They don’t do well here when it’s super busy. My dad’s pancakes came ice cold, not cool from sitting around, I mean cold as if they were out of the freezer. We asked for new pancakes and they brought us the same batch reheated! Terrible. I was definitely disappointed. Overall it’s a decent place to go if you’re in the mood for breakfast out, but be careful if it’s very busy.

It’s a cute little diner. Great for a nice breakfast with some friends. The food is reasonably priced for what you get. The best part is the waitstaff though. My waitress, a little brunette, was the nicest girl and very attentive. It made the whole experience even better. Five stars to her. Kudos!

Very extensive Menu. Humorous great service. Extremely good prices. Clam Chowder that was mostly clams. Sea food plate with great tasting sea food in ample quantities. Steak and Cheese sub as good as any I have ever had. Huge Ice Cream Sundaes for a super price. We will go back again, very soon. It took a lot of time to decide on our meals, due to the very very very interesting menu.

Great place to go for breakfast. They make homemade muffins, which are pretty great, the food is very reasonably priced, and to top it off the service is friendly and prompt. Couldn’t ask for a better place to go for breakfast. We have yet to try them for lunch, or ice cream, but I am sure it wouldnt dissapoint.

This place was alright. Went for breakfast. Reminded me too much of going to Friendly’s as a kid though(looks like it is in an old Friendly’s of Bickford’s building). Not much to say other than it was decent, though not worth going out of your way for.

My boyfriend already loves this place because you can order pancakes with a side of French fries. I thought it was a bit nuts at first, but I ordered the Eggs Benedict. Dipping a fry in hollandaise sauce is about the most delicious thing ever! The Eggs Benedict came with home fries, which were large chunks of potato cooked with seasoned salt(I think). Not appetizing at all. The eggs themselves were AMAZING though, so I will definitely order again and sub the home fries for something else. The Champ ordered chocolate chip pancakes with the fore-mentioned fries. Next time I’m at Rick’s, I’m getting the pancakes. The menu describes them as FLUFFY(all caps on the menu too) and they certainly are. SO so good, my mouth is watering even now, two days later! I was really disappointed with the corned beef hash situation here. I asked the waitress if it was REAL corned beef hash and sadly, it’s the straight-outta-the-can kind. BOO! I will still have to go to The Looking Glass for the hash, I guess. But this place wins it on the Eggs Benedict front, hands down! Cute décor, very clean, quick service and only had to wait 10 minutes for a table on a busy Saturday morning. Oh, and there’s ice cream. You can go up to the window at the front(Friendly’s style) or go in for a sundae at the bar.

Three words: Classic Local Diner. Simple, but oh so true, they have a huge menu, everything I’ve had there is great, the staff is friendly, the owner is local, there all the time, and not afraid to wait tables/bus tables/cook, etc… It’s your classic family owned, friendly local diner every town should have!
