Bears is the real deal. It is not a fancy, trendy gym atmosphere. He provides just a raw learning experience. I have learned more about how to fight here in a few months than I did with years of Karate classes! And the workouts are insane, just the right amount of push without breaking you. I would recommend anyone to try it out. He lets my friends come in for free the first few times to see if they like it. They usually do!

I had not checked out other studios before I came here since my co-worker vouched for this place. HUGEMISTAKE! The first class he was really nice and went out of his way to teach. After that you are just a number to him. He is extremely unorganized especially with payments and his methods for business are obsolete. The studio is a bit small. What I really disliked was that you would almost always be training in someone elses sweaty pool. VERYUNSANITARY. The new place I go to has a cleaning crew come in everyday. His cardio kickboxing class is great but everything else is alright. I did learn better technique on knees and clinching. Right now I am paying $ 150 for unlimited classes and I get one on one instruction. There is NO contract, all month to month. However, at BEC I had to sign a contract for 6 months or so and was paying $ 150 for 3 classes a week. If I did a longer contract it would’ve been $ 125 for 3 classes a week. What really ruined my experience with him was when I wanted to upgrade, he had NO problem. $ 200 for unlimited(paying $ 150 now at another studio). After 2 months I realized that I was paying too much since I wasnt going enough, so I asked him to go back to my original 3 classes/week and he threw the biggest fit. I ended up canceling my membership and moved on to where I am currently at. In fact I show up 4 times a week 2 hrs each day because they have so much more to offer and you want to go. I referred two people to his place and all I got was a thanks. The place I am at gives me $ 10 off a month per referral! He needs to have a company take care of his payments, so that way he can just focus on teaching. Also needs to have a better way to sign in, my club has it like a gym card that you scan when you come in, to avoid confusion for those that pay for limited classes per month.
