I just ate there for my first and last time !!! The pizza is on a frozen crust and it tastes like Cardboard. I was not impressed. It’s amazing how people in PA thinks this is the best pizza in Bethlehem. I believe a 8 year old Dead Rat would taste better then this pizza!!! Also the prices are very high

They have a nice variety of cheese steak sandwiches and pizza here. Fries and onion rings were good too. Service was great. The seating area is not large but has a nice 50’s theme to it. Note the parking lot is a bit on the small size.

This is one of the best little hidden pizza places around, but they do enough business to sell in frozen section of grocery stores as well. They make great cheese steak sandwiches too. It is small inside but the flavor is huge.

I’ve been eating at Matey’s for years. You get a generous portion for the price and the tastes will keep you coming back for more. Good variety of food that they know how to cook. Fountain Hill would not be the same if Matey’s were not a part of it. Number one place to go for a good meal. Don’t miss it!

What a great find! Matey’s Famous looks like a cool 50’s diner! Very clean and great service! They have a little bit for everyone. Everything from a great list of cheeseteaks to yummy milkshakes and even good gluten free pizza! To top it all off, they do corporate delivery! Will be back!

I like Matey’s a lot. If I’m basing this place on a burger /steak sand. joint… there is an argument for 5 stars. The steaks are decent, burgers very good, pizza, salads… I’ve had a little of everything and I’d say I’ve never had anything bad at all. Sometimes some of the things like wraps and steaks aren’t oversized in quantity, but the stuff is quality for sure(meaning…I had a wrap and a steak on separate occasions… they aren’t tremendous… bigger appetites aren’t going to be satisfied). Taco Salad is my go to for those that are shying away from the red meat, otherwise… enjoy the Pretzel Burger… it’s a mouthful… just my two cents. I wouldn’t say prices are cheap… and sodas can be expensive(a dine in soda is 2.79 I think… not cheap at all)…but it’s quality stuff here. To end… I’ll repeat how I started… I like Matey’s a lot. It’s safe to say you’ll get a decent meal… but bring an extra buck or two as it might be pricier than you think.

Great place to order take out from! They take orders over the phone and it was super quick. I ordered the Chicken Parmesan Sandwich and loved it! The breaded chicken had a nice crunch but was juicy and tender on the inside. It was seasoned well and had a nice ratio of sauce, cheese, and chicken. The bread was soft, and all combined made for a nice melt-in-your-mouth experience. I will definitely be returning!

Awesome cheesesteak. A slightly different flavor from Philly. Service is awesome. Place is clean and has 80s theme.

My spouse and I find ourselves here about once a month. We’ve been going here for approx three years and find the consistency of the food being always high quality. We always get two items, a half pepperoni, half mushroom pizza and a regular cheese steak. Both are delicious. The pizza has a thin crust that’s somewhat flexible and is usually baked a bit on the done side. The sauce is deliciously tangy with just a hint of sweet. The mushrooms and pepperoni are high quality and delicious. The cheese steak has a very fresh and delicious bun that isn’t overly hard nor soft it’s just right for holding a more than adequate amount of delicious beef. The cheese is excellent and the sandwich is served with a pickle spear on top. The staff is always friendly and is happy to see you walk in the door. Parking can, at times be difficult as it’s a small lot behind the restaurant. I always look forward to eating here.

Same as other reviewer… Extra star for nice people and friendly service. Not a good cheesesteak, but good pirogies.

Excellent fresh food! Friendly staff. Very reasonable prices, too. Take out or dine in their cheerful 50’s themed dining room. Fun for a quick bite to eat with your loved one or the entire family! Be warned, they are closed Sundays! They also deliver, but only to business during the week for lunch with a min order of $ 45.

Update: They’ve changed the décor. Now it’s 50s soda shop/sock hop. Is it better than the country western motif? Difficult question to answer.

My friends and I discovered this place while aimlessly driving around Bethlehem after class one day. It became our official place when we needed greasy food after a night of too much drinking. The cheese and bacon fries are a heart attack waiting to happen but they’re amazing. The pizza is really good too! It’s definitely not fancy, but it works!

Definitely not new, I went there for 4 years during college starting in 1999 and my friends had been going there for years. Excellent(and filling) cheesesteak though it’s slightly different from the steaks I used to get in Philly. A finer cut gives a different but still excellent taste and unique texture. Great fries too.

I believe Matey’s is «new» but here it is on Unilocal so perhaps I was mistaken. The gang I was with had a hankerin for pizza and I am on a never ending quest for steak sandwiches, so we landed here. I had heard two good recommendations, and I was not disappointed. The place appeared new. It was a bit strange in that it was a fried food, pizza type joint, but they played off the family name with a nautical theme. That said the tiny place was hoppin — not a seat available at 5 oclock on Saturday. We got our food to go. My steak was yummy. Nothing compared to Philly, but by Lehigh Valley standards it was pretty darn good. Real provalone cheese, and not greasy at all which was a nice surprise since most area sandwiches are absolutely swimming in it. Per Lehigh Valley standards it had a bit of a tomato based sauce(aka pizza steak Philly people) but again not too much. My compadres ordered the pizza which they said was yummy as well. All and all a good deal and a great new local find. We will return!
