I’ll predicate this review on the fact that I’ve only been to Mr. Fong’s once. That being said, I was not particularly impressed with the the restaurant. I ordered the Kung Pao chicken over rice. Really, there’s not too much to say about the plate — I found it neither good nor bad. There was nothing particularly special about it. The egg rolls were overpriced and, honestly, not very good at all. There was no substance to them. The service was okay, but again nothing special. Tis the story of Mr. Fong’s, sadly; there’s just nothing that great to say about it after my visit.

Consistently delicious, big portions and good value. Salt & pepper pork chop is the best. Always not disappointed.

So that’s what happened to Mr. Fong’s… I used to love ordering from here but it’s just not the same as I remember. The food’s average, hence the three stars, and literally, it’s a different location and a different name. I actually thought Mr. Fong’s Restaurant was gone completely because now my family just refers to this place as Tai Wu. I didn’t make the connection until I saw the name when I went to pickup an order. Don’t get me wrong, the food’s not bad. They have a good selection and they do a decent job at providing an acceptable meal. I’ve had bad Chinese food and this isn’t bad, but if you’re looking for something a little more extraordinary there are other good options for Chinese around. I’d advise to explore more options.

I like supporting local businesses and I’m a repeat customer at Tai Wu. The food is consistent, the portions are plentiful and the service is good. There’s not a lot of Chinese restaurants in this area but we enjoy staying local at Tai Wu.

My go-to place whenever I’m back in town. Delicious food at cheap prices. It doesn’t get much better than Tai Wu. The beef chow fun with gravy is a must. i order it every time I come back. I love this place and it will always remind me of home.

Mr Fongs has been our«go to» place for almost 20yrs. Since we moved to the East Bay, we find ourselves coming back with family for the good flavors and at home feel. The new location is modern, clean, a little farther to drive to. Hard to find parking. Service was good as usual, i dont speak chinese, and felt comfortable ordering and asking questions. I ordered about $ 100 worth of food TAKEOUT. Wait time was about 15 minutes. Packaged well, no leaks, no spills in the car. Tomato Beef Chow mein was the crowd favorite tonight. Salted fish fried rice has always been s favorite of mine. Sweet n Sour fish filet went fast. Green bean chicken was crisp even after being in the car 20 minutes to the table. Good flavors.

I have ordered here twice now for take out. I had their combination chow mein and chow fun, chinese chicken salad, eggplant with garlic sauce, and spicy kung pao chicken. All very yummy. Veggies were fresh, dishes were not oily, and portion were very generous :) Can’t wait to try out more dishes!!!

Solid and very fast lunch. High quality meat. White fish stir fry was excellent. The mongolian beef was well prepared and the meat was tender and tasty. Portions were huge for the price. Green beans side very good. So much food! Three of us with lots of leftovers $ 40 for lunch. In and out in 20min

My son just came down with a tiny cold so I wanted to get him some soup and this place it’s super close and convenient and the food is pretty good. I got the plain jook which was good because my son likes it pretty plain but I think this was too plain for my taste but still pretty tasty. Next time I’ll try the jook with chicken & dry scallop or chicken & black mushroom. Also ordered the beef tomato chow mein. Both my son and I LOVE ketchup… like tons of ketchup on our fries but oddly he doesn’t like tomatoes so I had to call it ketchup chow mein. Super flavorful and it was an instant hit with him. Nice & «tomatoey». And another must try is the beef chow fun with gravy too. I always ask for bok choy to be added and And another big hit with my son is one of the guys that works there is super nice and always gives him a small to go box filled with fortune cookies.

Food here is always good, I think it is way different from any Chinese restaurant. Maybe Taiwanese or Hong Kong style. Look for Andy, HEISTHEBEST!

Perhaps we ordered the wrong things here. My experience here definitely wasn’t four stars like the overall rating is. Tai Wu Mr. Fong’s is located right next door to 99 Ranch Market in Foster City. We ordered Wonton Noodle Soup, Prawn Wonton Noodle Soup, & Preseved Duck Egg Rice Porridge and it was really meh. The Wonton’s didn’t even seen fresh, nor did they taste fresh. Isn’t this type of place known for there dumplings? They weren’t good. The rice porridge was meh as well, not really flavorful, lacking. I’m not sure why this place has such a high rating. Credit Cards accepted here, including American Express!

Came for lunch, service is very efficient. Had the fish with black bean sauce, deep fried pork, and handmade noodles with duck. The noodles didn’t feel handmade. The duck was ok. The fish was ok. And the pork was ok. Rice portions are huge. Yes we would come back, prices are good.

Been coming here since its opening some 20 years ago. The food is always consistent and the services are above and beyond excellent. Hung, the manager is the most awesome guy. He always goes the extra mile. Glad to have a reliable neighborhood restaurant. I recommend it without hesitation!

This place is great… most orders… everything ready in 10 minutes and piping hot! i love their orders, they give you a lot of food for a decent price. Really a fan of their Chow fun, but beware ordering take out. they run out because its THATPOPULAR! other good dishes are the young chow fried rice(basically all meat and seafood). And their Green bean chicken is good… also only place i know where their corn soup is really good. Give it a try!

Been here a few times. And the servers are familiar and always really friendly. I like this place because of its service, generous portions and how the food always come out so far. Don’t make the mistake or ordering a set meal for two unless u guys just run finish a marathon. Wait for the tea to be steeped for a while instead of just drinking it straight.

Having been here more times than I can count since my first review of this place, I think my multiple subsequent visits definitely warrant an update. Each time I go here, I upload pics and receipt pics. My bank records are also proof of my repeated visits here. When I enter the restaurant, they already know who I am and start getting my usual things ready. Teapot with two teabags, extra teabags in a separate bowl, extra napkins, and since I order the same base items, they already start making the eggs for me. That’s pretty darn awesome. I get treated; Like. A. Boss! Andy, Raymond and the rest of the team in the back kitchen are working together to give me a welcoming feeling each time I go there. Sometimes, I’ve been there three times in a week! No kidding! I go there for the service; first of all, I also go there for the value I get for my money and the varied choices they have on their menu. Check out the pics I’ve uploaded for this place over the years and see if there is anything in particular you’d like to try. I stay away from the fried dishes.(It’s a speedier way to get six feet under.) Instead, I concentrate on grilled, braised, steamed, and stir fried dishes. You’ll love the food here. There aren’t a whole lot of other choices in Foster City with the same value for your money.

Affordable Chinese food. They give very generous portions. I came here this past weekend with my Aunt and we ordered 2 dishes and a bowl of rice. We ordered black bean chow fun and beef tendon clay pot. It tastes extra good when you put the beef tendon on top of hot steaming Jasmine rice. Yum! The chow fun wasn’t overly saucy(we got it dry) or greasy. In the end, we barely ate half of our food and took the rest home. The 2 dishes could have easily filled up another person. I always come here when I’m in the area and stop by Ranch 99 next door afterwards to get some grocery shopping done.

Officially my favorite Chinese food restaurant!!! I do not eat Chinese food often since its usually loaded in oil and salt and my favorite thing to order is sweet and sour fish(deep fried fish coated in sweet and sour sauce… ugh why can’t it be steamed broccoli and shrimp dumplings). ITSSERIOUSLYSOGOOD! Its good almost everywhere I order it, I mean how can you really go wrong with something covered in sweet and sour sauce omnomnom. What sets this place apart is THEYARESONICE! I feel like Chinese restaurants are notorious for bad service but the guys working here are really friendly and helpful. Sweet and sour fish is not even on their menu and they always accommodate =) The food also comes out CRAZYFAST. I’ve had fast food meals come out slower. It would be five stars but the two times I’ve ordered seafood chow fun(per my dads request, I would rather have eggplant anyway, I still need veggies to counteract the fish!) the seafood has been sparse. I’m talking 3 shrimps and maybe two scallops they spilt into 8 smaller pieces. Large portions, easy parking, friendly service, and crazy fast cooking. I would come here all the time if it didn’t leave me hating myself.
