Be warned, the people that own this place only supply what their diet entails. So if you eat cheese, even just local and organic cheese, don’t expect to find it here. Actually, don’t expect to find much here, except for dismal, lackluster service. No smiles, no let me see if there is something I can help you with…“What, you aren’t a vegan? We don’t want your kind in our store, grow a set of dreads… and maybe grow something else.”

I am well aware it’s not fast food but a 30 minute wait for a sandwich is ridiculous.
Now for the sandwich. All the fillings had excellent flavor and freshness. The focaccia it was served on was a bit chewy and not that fresh. There was so much aoili on it that the fillings turned into mush, so when I got home I had to dump it on a plate and get a fork out. NOT my definition of a sandwich.
If the sandwich was only 6 to 7 dollars I might have given 2 to 3 stars, but at 10 bucks for a half hour wait and a sandwich that wasn’t even a sandwich after a 10 minute drive you get one star.
Maybe I’d give this place another try, but I’m not in a hurry.

Although the store is a bit sparse, the food they serve is delicious! A highlight for me is that they have the only acai bowl in Humboldt county!

I think this place is still working on setting itself up, lots of empty shelves, but it it looks promising. It seems like it’s a vegan place which should be great for this area.
It took me a while to figure out what to order because I was looking for something kinda specific but I ordered the club with avocado and the berry smoothie. The sandwich was delicious and the smoothie was good but did not quite hit the spot. Service was friendly and prompt as it could be but it was a bit pricey for my budget, $ 15 for the two items. I think the sandwich was $ 9 and the smoothie was $ 6, it was for a good cause tho.

So happy to have found this place! We’re in a road trip and I’ve been seeking somewhere to get fresh juice every day — I usually make my morning juice at home and I’ve gotten addicted to my morning juice, more so than coffee! We spent a night in Ferndale and did a search for «fresh juice» and this place came up. (Thank God, because my husband wouldn’t go for driving 28 miles back up to Arcata just so I could get juice.)
I was worried that it was still there since the other Unilocal reviews are a couple years old but YES! Still there! My carrot apple ginger juice hit the spot. Husband got the Sunny Fortuna (carrot apple ginger orange) and we got a strawberry banana coconut milk smoothie for my son.
There’s a nice variety of juices AND smoothies. The people working there were super nice. I think the woman said they’d just moved, which is probably why many of the bulk bins and shelves were empty. They seemed to be busy with a lunch rush — I wish we’d waited and gotten some sandwiches & soup here instead of the greasy diner food I’d gotten stuck with earlier. They had a nice little menu of yummy-​looking, healthy options. If we pass near Fortuna again, on our way home, we will definitely stop in again!
*** For people who are stopping in from bigger cities, the prices will blow you away. Our juices here were about HALF the price of what we pay at the Ballard Farmer’s Market in Seattle, for example.

These people are great! Yesterday, I called from across the country to see if I cd have something sent to family in Fortuna, and Shelly not only sent me photos of her ideas, but prepared, delivered and displayed it for me. Then she sent me photos of that! My family really enjoyed her company while she prepped the food. This is what I love about small towns! Thanks so much SHELLY, in the age of 800 numbers, your customer service is downright inspiring

Love the variety, local products, the store is always clean and organized, staff is very helpful and knowledgeable… and always great service! Glad to see this store a part of the lovely Fortuna community! Two thumbs up!

Thank you, thank you, thank you. Right off the highway on Main Street in Fortuna — no more driving all the way to Eureka for natural, organic, sustainable, etc. Family owned, local owned. These guys will order what you need if they don’t carry it. They are adding more products each day — with plans to add more produce, a deli. Great customer service. Oh and also solid competitive prices, easy parking, close to Ferndale where I live. Did I say really nice people own and operate it? Thanks guys!
