Food was awesome but service was even better. Will was our server and he was outstanding. Very friendly, made great suggestions, very attentive. Loved it and will be looking forward to returning

My husband and I went here as we were traveling from Denver to the DFW area. He spotted it, it it’s nice location next to a park, full of patrons. He thought since it looked busy it just be good! We’re were sorely disappointed. Our waiter appeared to be overwhelmed, he was serving us outside and was kinda short with us. Then when we ordered my husbands dish was put in wrong. I got the street fish tacos. They were bland and I only added flavor by adding the green salsa they give you to them. My husband ordered brisket enchiladas, but had the pleasure of trying the chicken enchiladas as well. Both dishes were dry and lackluster. Don’t be fooled, they were more like taquitos than enchiladas. They did comp my husband his meal, but besides that we joked the entire way back to the hotel about how awful this place was. I won’t be returning here, and not because I live a state away. Other notes: 1. Restaurant is super noisy with their music being extremely loud. 2. Saw another couple get their meals comped when we sat down. 3. They were seating people on their patio even though it was gusty as f!@& out.

The chicken and waffle tacos were so good!!! Moist chicken breast deep fried in waffle batter. Definitely recommend. Also, chicken tacos al pastor(the ones with pineapple) were very good.

We came here for lunch. I really liked my bowl of tortilla soup for $ 6. It was fresh and had big chunks of chicken breast, avocado, and lots of cheese. My sister ordered the burger of all things and it was also very good, but the fries served with them were below average. I wasn’t a fan of the chips and salsa. The Mojito was refreshing and served with a sugar cane stick(authentic) but for $ 10 it had way too much ice and wasn’t strong enough to give the slightest of a buzz. So it seemed overpriced. We sat outside on the patio which was nice to enjoy the sun and people watch. The inside is too small for how busy the location is(middle of Sundance Square) so be prepared to wait! I left feeling satisfied, and was happy to try a new place, but when downtown I think I would choose Mi Cocina instead.

This place was apparently understaffed when I was visiting Wednesday. There were open tables dirty while my guests & I waited by the front door for 10 minutes. We waited another 15 minutes for anyone to greet us. We asked a couple of employees for help & finally a waitress came by. She was friendly & fine, food was good, not great. I’ve had so many better experiences at the Uptown Dallas & Addison locations! Hoping Fort Worth can get some training or support staff to carry on the good service legacy of Taco Diner.

Very subpar even for tacos. Everything from the salsas and queso to the meat lacks flavor. They don’t even put a quick grill on your corn tortillas which makes them feel and taste cold. The only thing worth eating is the crispy avocado taco, that thing is delicious! Side note: there system went down while we where there, which I understand can happen(I’ve worked in a restaurant). What I don’t understand is that they couldn’t even tell us our total so we could pay with cash, last I checked it isn’t that difficult to add things on a calculator and add tax…

I came in with my boyfriend we were in town and saw the high 4 stars on Unilocal. We were sadly disappointed. First we were seated in a both that was not clean, we had to request the hostess to clean our booth. I ordered the taco cancun, the shrimp were very small and bland. My boyfriend had brisket tacos, they were much better, but not too impressed. Service was ok. I don’t think we would come back.

Absolutely delicious!!! Salsa and Quac is so tasty and I had a corn tamale with pulled pork and wow, I wanted more but was so full afterwards. They also have a very hot salsa too if you ask for it. I couldn’t eat it… not this white girl! lol cant wait to go back!

Great location right on substance square. Well priced food and drinks. Large sized portions for entrees. My only complaint was that the food is rather bland and could have been better with a little more flavor or kick. Tried a jalapeño-agave margarita, one was enough.

The only thing good is its location. Better to have a drink or two at patio but food not so good

The food at taco diner is especially bland. They have a great location in downtown Fort Worth at Sundance Square so brings in lots of tourists. I’ve sat inside and on the nice patio they have. After two trips can confidently say I will not return in the future as their offerings are just boring and standard. Service was good both times with a very corporate trained feel from all of their staff.

We were here with friends from California for lunch. It was our first time here and the weather was perfect. We sat outside and enjoyed the Mexican music and the beautiful square. We felt like we were in a little Mexican town. Our server was very knowledgeable and provided us with exceptional service. The food was fantastic and prepared to look beautiful. I had the Cobb and it was unlike any I have had before. It was so good I may not try something new on our next visit. My wife is a tortilla soup lover. She says this is some of the best she has tasted. So, it looks like we have a new favorite stop when we visit Fort Worth!

Came in to have a drink and share an appetizer and enjoy the nice weather sitting out in the outside dining area. I can say that I will NOT be back. Service was poor and the food was bland. They serve you complimentary chips with water down sauce. Both the green sauce and I’m assuming the black bean sauce? Was very flavorless. I ordered the lemon Aqua fresca and it again tasted more like water. I shared the ceviche and it tasted like a citrus salad with some pico and a few shrimp. Had to ask for hot sauce to add to the ceviche for some kind of flavor. I was not impressed with this place whatsoever. Server did not check on us and we had to wave down a few different servers just for a drink refill and hot sauce. Took just as long to ask for our check. Not coming back.

The location of this restaurant is sublime. This is certainly one of the strongest points for Taco Diner. First off, make sure you understand Taco Diner is a restaurant that is about Mexico City authentic food, not Tex-Mex or south Texas Mexican food. It has nothing to do with New Mexico cuisine or other variants of Mexican food. It stands alone as one distinct style of Mexican food and that should be appreciated before trying to enjoy their meal. We first ordered a drink called Mexican punch. It was a generic sweet fruity drink that had a decent alcohol kick to it. It was not a unique drink or a drink that stood out in any special way. The chips and salsa are different. The chips are the thickest and largest I have ever seen. I could not decide if that was a good thing or not. My wife favors very thin crispy chips, so she was not crazy about them. I like a little thicker chip than she does. These were really thick and heavy. One problem that I found with this thick and dense of a tortilla chip is that the flavor of the chip was more powerful than almost anything we dipped the chip into. We tasted corn tortilla chip strongly no matter what we dipped our chips into. They brought two salsas to the table. One was a guacamole based salsa and the other was a chipotle based salsa. Both were good, but surprisingly, we felt the guacamole based salsa was a bit flavorless and bland. It was not unpleasant, it just did not have much flavor. Mostly we could taste the tortilla chip. The chipotle salsa was strong enough we could taste a distinct spicy flavor and we both agreed it was the better of the two. We ordered a bowl of the white cheese dip as an appetizer, the queso blanco. We asked for the beef mixture to be added in. The cheese was thin and runny and there was not much flavor. We both were surprised at how bland it was considering the menu mentions it has a «kick» to it. We could not discern any kick whatsoever. It was not unenjoyable, it just did not have much flavor and ran off the huge chips. We shared a plate called the Enchiladas Polancas. It was essentially corn tortillas with Monterey Jack cheese in the middle, covered by a salsa Verde, a green tomatillo-based sauce. It was served with traditional Mexican rice and black beans. The enchiladas were sufficiently delicious. The cheese, much like other items I mentioned so far, was bland. The tomatillo based salsa verde was spicy. We enjoyed the enchiladas but are not sure we would order them again. Surprisingly enough, the Mexican rice was really delicious. We could taste fresh comino spice ground into the rice. A major plus for my wife and I. The black beans were the biggest hit of the evening. They were absolutely over-the-top delicious. We could taste the beans very clearly, which were complemented by distinct savory fresh pulled pork. The flavor of the beans with the pork was absolutely wonderful. They were not greasy and I cannot say enough good about them. Recommended. I ordered flan for dessert. The actual flan custard cake was a bit generic and bland, not creamy and rich. The brown sugar coating was good. Overall the flan was a disappointment. The restaurant itself is a modern new clean facility. The location simply cannot be beat. The service was sufficient. The food over all was decent, with the beans and rice being the standout items. If you do not like spicy Mexican food, this is your place. My wife and I enjoy really spicy foods, so we were a bit disappointed. However, we will be back to order a drink and enjoy some black beans and the ambience that this place lends to Sundance Square.

So there’s this new delivery service in Fort Worth called Favor. They will literally get anything for you except booze. So when I am working downtown I can have someone go fetch me aqua frescas from Taco Diner. So I do– often… because they are so good. The food isn’t very good. I do like the basic stuff– chips, green sauce, etc. It has a cute location on the square so it’s goof for patio lounging. I’m really just there for the mango aquas though. For real.

Came in for take out so this is largely a food review, although I was offered water while I waited which is always nice service. I’m always excited to see new dining options in downtown Ft.Worth. Taco Diner has been open almost a year on a corner in Sundance Square and looked promising. Ordered a small gucamole, two fish tacos and two poblano tacos to go on a Wednesday evening. I asked about drinks and the waitress said they didn’t have a bar– odd since I thought I saw a few standard marg items on the menu but perhaps she meant a full bar? The wait wasn’t too long and seeing the big bags of chips packed in my order, I could hardly wait to dive in to the food. Jump to me unpacking the food, ripping open the bag of chips, taking a giant scoop of guac and… disappointingly bland. The tacos were fine but nothing worth returning for. Oh well.

Located in the middle of sun dance square! Simple patio. Upscale dining restaurant. Ordered the mango aguas frescas(1 free refill) delicious, sweet, fresh! Tacos served in pairs! Corn tortilla and flour available. Felipe cheesesteak very flavorful. Beef, peppers, onion, cheese, sour cream! Pechuga de pollo… Chicken breast. Tacos served with rice, lettuce, avocado. The hot sauce they brought us wasn’t spicy, I asked for something much spicier. They brought out 2 small dishes, one sauce was red, the other green. That did the job! This is a great place is grab tacos… Not exactly the authentic street tacos but it’s still very good! I would come back!

I’ve been on a fancy taco binge lately so it only makes sense that I swing in when I happen to be nearby. I had 2 goals in mind when entered — Mango agua fresca and parking validation. Paul and I had 15 mins to kill before our photo session so we decided to grab a quick bite to prevent any hunger pains. The restaurant was pretty empty at 6pm on a Wednesday night so that was a plus for us. We got our drink and food quickly. Food was meh– I’ve had better fish tacos(dry) and the Felipe Cheesesteak taco(also dry) was lacking in flavor. Thankfully my mango agua fresca was still good — they don’t give you much so be sure to down it and grab your free refill to go. I’ve had better dishes at Taco Diner– just avoid the two tacos variations we had and you should fare better.

Décor: 4⁄5 Service: 4⁄5 Food: 2⁄5 two pairs of tacos for $ 6 — We went with Felipe Cheesesteak and the Fish taco which came with rice and lettuce. For four tacos we were served one lime wedge. What the? We asked for more and the server brought out 4 freshly cut lime wedges. That’s more like it. Tacos were mediocre, a bit pricey but one may justify due to location.
