It was good. But just good. The service was fine. The restaurant was clean. But the food was nothing memorable. The chips they serve are really greasy and remind me of eating Fritos. The chicken in my salad had a strange texture, almost chewy, kind of tough, like maybe a lesser quality meat?!? I can’t say the restaurant is bad. It’ll not be my first choice for Mexican for sure. I’d like to try it again though as some of the other dishes looked great.

The one star is for the friendly waitstaff !!! Food was sooooo bland and so stale tasting!!! Not to mention that there was a family that had a child that was 3 climbing on every table and even in the cash register and no one did a thing about it. Disgusting. Won’t return

Having given this restaurant several chances, because TexMex is a staple in and Texan’s diet, I can finally say I’m done with this restaurant. The food isn’t bad and the service isn’t bad — most of the time. However, my family and I have had enough unpleasant experiences with this chain over the years. Speaking only about our last visit — my father found a fly in his food. And not the kind that’s just buzzing around and happens to land on your food. It was stuck in the food, as if it had been there. The waitress was very nice about it and went to get her manager to come speak with us. The manager basically said«these things happen, you won’t have to pay for this dish.» No real apology, no discount, nothing to indicate that things like this happen few and far between, which makes you think that they probably happen all too often. If the food was excellent, maybe we’d reconsider again. But it’s just generic TexMex — nothing special. There are better places to go, with less flies and more understanding managers.

I looooooove Mexican food, but not from here. I ordered a shrimp quesadilla twice. Simple, right? First one had more onions than shrimp. Second one was sooooo über greasy. Like, a pool. Yuck. However, the margaritas are good. I’ll go back for drinks. And chips.

I love fajitas and have ordered them at every Mexican restaurant since I was a kid. I’m 32 now and have eaten the WORST chicken fajitas ever. It was my first time to the Mexican Inn and the chicken was like eating rubber, crackling and ripping between my teeth making me almost gag. My wife told me I should say something but I was nice and didn’t. Just a second ago I was eating the leftovers and spit them out and threw them away which prompted me write this review. Think about it! I’m never going back! Ever!

Excellent service! Queso was amazing chips are different. Tortillas are homemade, salsa needs work. Enchilada’s are good, brisket tacos ok, they were a little plain. Guacamole is good.

I’d like to review the food; unfortunately, we were seated promptly and then never served. After fifteen minutes, we left. Too bad.

The food was good, at least the entrees that were correct and showed up on time. I will go back, in hopes that they get my food right next time. The chips and queso are phenomenal. The experience would have been better if the server seemed to care. The manager was walking around but not speaking to anyone. It would get a five star if service and management improves. The nachos were excellent and so was the fajita burrito. Amazing sangria margarita and only $ 5!!!

This recently opened up right down the street from my house. I love the Mexican inn on 8th and was curious to see if this would be as good. The inside is super nice and the staff seems polite. I ordered the Mexican in salad(my favorite thing on the menu) and It came out looking absolutely nothing like it usually does at any other location. It didn’t taste very good either. I was disappointed. Won’t be returning.

Came in about a week ago to get take out, and ya know, I didn’t think it was that bad. I saw that some of the other reviewers had issues, but I really didn’t run into any… I got a taco salad, the shrimp tacos, and an order of flautas… all were actually quite good. The flautas, in particular, tasted great… though maybe a little greasy. Still, I would get them again. The portions on everything were generous enough for the price, my only real complaint was my order was a little slow to come out, but I did walk in there during dinner for take out, so I can’t really complain. Some of the other reviewers didn’t like the tortilla strips and the salsa they give you. I actually thought they were ok. The salsa is nothing to write home about, sure, but it was far from horrible. The tortilla strips were a bit on the greasy side, but they were fluffy and crispy and I thought it was a nice change from the typical chips most places give you. I will say they do suck cold… thankfully I received a hot batch. This place is not gonna blow minds… it’s certainly a chain tex-mex joint… but if that’s what you’re looking for, it’ll do. Seeing that I got take out, I can’t comment on the service at all, so perhaps that’s the route to go if others are finding that the service blows.

This review is soooooo necessary! Made a first time visit at this location in which is closer to me to see if it would out service my fav one on Hemphill. Entering to a non welcoming young lady that dress attire out shined her hostess etiquette. On this day and time the restaurant wasn’t busy considering the special day. Here’s the«Real»… *Mistake Uno*She grabs menu’s and proceed to sat us at a 2 setter end entrance table. Than gets attitude with excuses when asked for another available area. *Mistake Dos* She leads to area and toss menus on table and leaves. *Mistake Tres* Waiter comes over stating he was sent to make sure we have good service that he didn’t provide. *Mistake Cuatro* Chips were COLD and STALE each time after requesting FRESHANDHOT3 times. *Mistake Cinco* Food is served, looks good without corn tortillas until we asked and they were NASTY warmed. Food tasted unlike tradition of Mexican Inn. *Mistake Seis* The manager comes as we proceed to leave table and ask, «how was everything» and with allll the divatude(yes, I coined it.*Lol*) in me I said one word, HORRIBLE! Guess it’s normal for customers to leave almost all food on plate… In summary with me always keeping it «Real, this new location doesn’t live up to the old. It’s dressed but doesn’t impress. Lacks substance of the best qualities that makes Mexican Inn repeat customers traditional fav, *Friendly Service* Hot Fresh Golden Corn Chips, and *Food with Good Mouth Puckering Margaritas. I honestly feel that the Mexican used name has been violated and the cook can’t read the Original cookbook. With that said all my CLUCKS goes to this restaurant. Gracias!

This is a great Tex-Mex café. The service was excellent and on time the food was hot and delicious the restaurant itself was clean and neat. I would recommend this to anybody who loves Tex-Mex. And their chips are so addicting delicious!!!

This Mexican Inn has more menu choices than other I have been too. The experience was okay, I liked the swirl margarita but it was big and really cold so I could not drink it fast. In fact could not finish before I left. The price of the margarita was only $ 5 so I didn’t waste that much.

Cute décor and nice location. It’s new I’m told so I added a star to what would have been a 2 star experience. The server/waiter screwed up 3 of 4 orders. Asked for an extra plate twice before getting one. Food was warm but not hot. This is a kicker for me the salsa — - we are in Texas and this is like catsup kicked up a few notches! GRRRR! Ok so maybe it’s texmex??? As mentioned by others the chips are Fritos! Seriously?! What’s with that??? I ordered a «cheese chili RELLENO and my bad I didn’t ask but it came with a «brisket type sauce on it.» I’m not very familiar with texmex so maybe this is the norm… I should have asked. We ordered enchiladas and were told they had a Queso blanco sauce NOPE not so much; was it a failed order? Our misunderstanding? IDK. Whatever the case What we were told & what we got didn’t match. Lastly learned prices at this location are higher than other locations. I can’t verify that but if it’s the case that’s just wrong. Seriously I would not go back here, I would prob. make excuses not to go here. I hate to say that as our waiter was nice and you could tell he was struggling and new but there were so many mess ups it wasn’t funny. We seriously should have been comp’d but were with friends and didn’t want to hassle with it. We had a great time with friends though.

The Mexican Inn is a great choice for casual and traditional tex mex. Service was fast and friendly. The chips are not traditional, and that is awesome. People need to embrace diversity of free chips, mix it up folks. Salsa is fresh and spicy. I had brisket tacos, very tasty moist and flavorful. I’m not a fan of rice and beans, so I can’t comment on their quality. My wife got chicken enchiladas. She lived them. No upcharge for grilled onions or subbing chicken for cheese. I think HULEN is too packed with chains but this is a solid addition to hood.
