This place has really gone down… It use to be my favorite place for seafood. I asked the waitress what was inside the«stuffed crab» and she said it was shrimp and crab. Sounded delicious! Well it was def not that… Tasted like stuffing, it was ok but def not shrimp and crab. For 3 adults and 2 kids our check was $ 100… Seems like they have really gone up on the prices! Kinda disappointing.

I’ve been eating here since I could recall.(To which my mom just told me she used to eat here with her dad way back at the first location). So if three generations later we’re still eating here, then it must be telling you something. It’s good! Great food and great atmosphere. It’s a must try!

First time here, decided to keep it traditional with the plain oysters. They are FANTASTIC. I just ordered 6 but they gave me like 10 so that was awesome haha. I was a little bit worried because some of the pictures of them on Unilocal didn’t look fresh, but trust me they are fresh as can be! No complaints, the people were very friendly and service was quick. Will be back next time I’m having an oyster craving.

I ordered the raw oysters and the shrimp cocktail. I would have given this place 5 stars, but my oysters didn’t come with ice on the bottom. I have never been to a seafood place where they just serve raw oysters on a plate with NO ice. I was eating from both dishes, so by the time i got to the last 2 oysters, they were starting to get warm(We were sitting outside). There’s a reason why every single restaurant I have been to serves raw oysters with ice on the bottom! So if they serve you your oysters without ice, demand they put ice on the bottom! With this said, I will definitely go back. The food was great, service was 7 out of 10. It seemed like our waitress barely checked on us and it took about 15 minutes after we were done eating to get our check. Great food, place just needs minor improvements.

Haven’t been here for ages. But I love this place. Great food and service. Food is super tasty. I just love to throw down here. The weather is just right for it. I definitely recommend this place to my Unilocal friends! So I’m having oysters and a glass of Chardonnay. Yummiest! !

The oysters are very fresh and sweet. They are sold at USD16 per dozen a little bit costly but definitely worth the price. Oyster Rockfella is better than Oyster Laredo since Rickfella is more creamy. The seafood gumbo is great! It takes pretty long to have my entrée come out but the stuffed flounder is something worth waiting for. The cole slaw is too sweet for me, I don’t really like but the onion fries are good. Instead of onion rings the onion fries are short onion piece battered and fried. Very good place for friends gathering.

Avoid this place unless you like heartburn! Maybe the food has gone downhill or these other reviewers have never had good oysters. My first day living in Ft. Worth I decided to give this place a try because there were good reviews. It’s a hole in the wall local joint. There was no good part to my experience here. Upon walking in my friend and I saw that all the seats were taken except two at the end of the bar closest to the kitchen. At least two people saw us trying to move things around to seat ourselves and no one tried to assist. Thankfully a man left his seat during the shuffle and we just slid over for more room. Next I practically had to eye screw my server for her to acknowledge our presence and take our drink order. We both ordered beers which though cold were flat. Neither of us finished them. She ordered scallops and I got an oyster plate. The scallops and oysters were completely over fried. When biting into an oyster all I could taste was the breading. There was no seasoning at all. The food was so greasy and over fried we only picked at it and opted not to get it to go when we left. These are definitely the worst oysters I’ve ever had and I wouldn’t recommend anyone eat here. The pricing was also a bit high for seafood and way high for the inedible crap they were serving. Again don’t eat here!

Terrible ugly food! Not fresh, one of our group got sick right after… Ugh! Scallops were disgusting as were the Oysters… Here’s a tip, if you’re going to be called an Oyster bar try and serve decent oysters… Service was good, however Go somewhere else!

I have a client who raves about JJ’s. I had to give it a try. This was my first visit here but will definitely not be my last. The food was great, the service was great, and my shiner was frosty cold. I absolutely recommend this restaurant as a go to!

I must confess hastiness in my recent review. I should have known better and allowed my lifelong experience with this restaurant to shape my comments rather than a allowing a single poor experience to taint. As providence or karma – that otherwise fateful force that mocks our infallibilities – would have it, I was part of a party last night that wanted to eat at J&J’s. I was not looking forward to it, much, as it turned out, to my demise. J&J’s absolutely redeemed itself, not that it was trying to do so. For appetizers, we had oysters on the half shell(large and tasty sweet), crab fingers(larger than the last time and well seasoned), and crawfish(again, large and well seasoned). All were above expectation. I chose the raspberry vinaigrette for my salad and it was fresh and delish. I also chose the steamed vegetables, which elicited no complaints either, to go with my 2 grilled fish tacos and my 2 grilled shrimp tacos. The tacos were really good and I’ll definitely order them again. I’m not sure what happened before but J&J’s has resumed its place among my culinary podium, and I will definitely be going back for more than a beer on the patio. Well done, J&J’s.

The wife and I checked out J&J oyster bar on a whim while we were in the area. The inside was all I hoped it would be for a «local» seafood place. Small, divey and the overwhelming smell of fresh seafood, fry oil, and stale beer. This may not sound appealing to some people, but all of the above are my kind of place. Unfortunately, the food and drink did not live up to expectations. We ordered a dozen oysters, and a pound of crawfish. The crawfish were ok, very heavily seasoned, and no corn or potatoes(which is ok), but for nearly $ 9, a pound, I was hoping to be wowed. The Oysters didn’t fare any better. They looked like they had been to hell and back before they reached are table. Some of them looked so bad, we didn’t even eat them. I can’t say they were«rotten» or «bad» but they certainly didn’t look normal, so we decided to play it safe and not eat them. That, plus 4 beers brought our bill to around $ 50 after tip. Pricey for such a «neighborhood» joint, IMHO.

Love their crawfish here. It’s prepared differently from orchid city(my other fav crawfish place). The crawfish is juicy and sweet. They sprinkle Cajun seasoning on it and all that simpleness amounts to yummy in my tummy. It’s usually around 9.99/lb, more expensive than most places. Hubby and I also like to order their fried mushrooms, a bit greasy, but we like it with our crawfish and beer.

This can be a 4 stars for me but their parking is bad and it’s a little restaurant. Their foods great we went all out oysters, crawfish, and my son had the fried catfish. It’s was amazing. Stop by, we need to return and try the Rockafella oysters, if they are as amazing as the Laredo might giving them the 5 stars.

Definitely agree with Frank S. and Paige D. about the prices. It is not cheap for what you are getting! The only things that we enjoyed from our meal were the fresh oysters and fried zucchini. The fried catfish tasted way too fishy to me. I think $ 15.59 for one fried catfish and 4 boiled shrimps is not reasonable at all especially when the boiled shrimps did not taste that fresh. The oyster po boy had very few fried oysters. We will be back for the fresh oysters by the dozen but that’s about it. The service was pretty great though.

We actually saw J&J’s on the way home one night, and decided to give it a try based on the Unilocal reviews and the pictures. We were not disappointed! Ronda was our waitress; she was very kind, prompt and courteous. We started out with the jumbo peel and eat shrimp, as well as a dozen oysters. Fresh and delicious! We washed them both down with a cold pitcher of Dos Equis. The weather was very nice this evening so we enjoyed sitting on the patio. For dinner we split the fried shrimp and crawfish sausage combo platter; sides were steamed veggies and cole slaw. The sausage was very good with the right amount of heat. The sides were just OK — the mixed veggies were overcooked and the coleslaw was a little too«liquidy» for my taste. I am changing my star rating based on a second visit here. The oysters didn’t seem quite as fresh as the first time, and the fried catfish was a bit fishy tasting. I also tried different sides — french fries and a side salad. The fries were not very hot and I was not a big fan of their ranch dressing. I would consider all of their food good but not outstanding.

It is a small hole in the wall with very few seating options. We came on a Sunday and within 30 minutes it was packed. There is only 2 sitting booth, a bar area, and a couple of high tables. On a good day there is also a useable outside dinning area. One thing I did not like about this place is that the bathroom is literally outside the restaurant. You have to leave the restaurant and enter through the side of the building… We had 3 pounds of crawfish, a half dozen raw oysters, and a half dozen charbroiled oysters. One thing I will say about the crawfish is that it is very large. The cooking style and seasoning is nothing special. It is just boiled and then covered in Cajun seasoning… I had to ask for a side of Cajun seasoning to really enjoy my crawfish. My fiancé and his sister really enjoyed the oysters. I had the charbroiled oysters and it was really good, the oysters I mean. Usually I love charbroiled oysters but j&j really ruined it for me. The oyster itself was great but the spinach and Parmesan used to cook the oysters were terrible. Spinach had no flavor and for the cheese, they used the Parmesan cheese you used on pizza… there was still chunks of cheese still on my oysters. Oh yeah, the cheese was not even half way melted… it was literally just thrown on… What really got me was the prices! This place is totally overpriced! A pound of crawfish was almost $ 10! That’s more expensive than Pappadeaux and Boiling Crab(both have better crawfish) ! And I was also told that the price of their crawfish fluctuates based on the days you come… really? That doesn’t make much sense to me… Would I come back? Idk, probably not but if I do it wouldn’t be for the crawfish…

I discovered J&J by luck, driving past on the way home from The Colonial. I had worked up a pretty good appetite and a powerful thirst, and J&J satisfied both. I had boiled crawfish, and it was some of the best I’ve ever had. Plenty of beer washed it down. Since then, I have been back several times, and the food is always good. Fresh oysters on the half shell were great, fried shrimp very, very good. The only downsides are the fact that it is in a converted old style Taco Bell, so the whizzer is out in back. When the place is crowded, it can get a little iffy having to wait in line in the alley to relieve yourself. Second, the waitresses are too few, and the understaffing makes them perpetually crabby. Still, I keep going back.

I LOVEJJ’s. It’s not a very big place and can easily get crowded. They only have 2 booths, which I prefer to sit in a booth. They have tall tables with the bar stools. Not good for a short person like me. I tolerate the tall tables for JJs though! Oysters are always fresh. They shell them perfectly and they don’t taste dirty. The whole fried catfish is lovely. My favorite is the stuffed flounder. Stuffed with crab and sits in a butter lemon type sauce. Yum.

Hubby Ross and I ventured here a few weeks back, making this our second visit. We were the only customers but the servers didn’t smother us, which was quite nice. Basic, no-frills place with paper towels on the table for napkins, lots of fried food smells and a bathroom that is outside in the back… I think it’s a remodeled gas station. Started with fried pickles, which were hot, crispy and had a great flavor. Accompanied by typical ranch that didn’t add any real flavor. At $ 5.99, they were a decent value but almost too expensive compared to similar restaurants around here. Ross ordered a dozen raw oysters, which were served on the typical plastic tray, perched on crushed ice. They came with itty bitty containers of cocktail sauce and horseradish. I can’t recall the price but I think they were priced in line with the market. I ordered a side salad and had to ask a few times for more 1000 Island dressing. Typical salad with tomatoes, a little tiny container of cheese and one of bacon. Fairly large salad for only $ 4 so I was happy. Ross ordered the two-item combo platter, with one catfish filet and clam strips. He chose fries and cole slaw for his sides. Tons of fries, pretty many clam strips and one catfish filet and everything was all that he wanted, so for $ 15.29 he declared it a good value. I ordered the kids chicken strips dinner, which came with fries for $ 5.99. Fries were hot, perfectly salted and tasty. The three sad little pressed chicken strips were so mediocre I couldn’t believe it. Clearly purchased in bulk, fried and slapped into a basket. As a non-seafood eater, I understand my choices at an oyster bar are going to be limited, but usually these kind of places have decent chicken strips… bleh! We each had two draft beers and our bill was about $ 60 before gratuity which I think was about $ 30 too much for a casual dive restaurant.
