Cheddar’s Scratch Kitchen

I like this location, it is always is consistent with service and food. My personal favorites are the Catfish Entrée and the fish tacos (I always get them grilled). My husband loves the ribs and orders them every time. I really, really, really like the pastries they serve with the side salads, I could make a meal out of them alone.

My 1^st visit to a Cheddar’s and my impression was to not return — maybe one day I’ll try another location but it will be a while. Went there with a friend and we were seated by the kitchen so there were a lot of servers going in and out, which wasn’t a problem — we were happy to be seated quickly because we were trying to have a quick lunch and the restaurant seemed to be pretty full. Unfortunately it took about 10 minutes for anyone to ask what we wanted to drink — then when our drinks arrived one was spilled — not a big big deal but there no apologies as well. When we did order our food — and a steak was ordered medium well — it was pretty bloody when it came out — so after trying to get the attention of our waiter for another 5 minutes (and while waiting for the A1 that was asked for when our food came out) we asked if the steak could be cooked longer and he took the whole plate back into the kitchen. When the food returned almost 10 minutes later, it was on the same plate with the blood on it and didn’t look appetizing at all — especially since the grilled onions were soaked by the blood. At that point we had given up and just decided to pay the bill and leave. Interesting service is a nice way of putting it and less than impressive food and drinks.

Just ordered take out with my hubby from here. We both got the crispy chicken salad. Came home and had rotting lettuce all throughout my salad. We also ordered extra croissant rolls because I usually love then but this time they are a doughy mess drowning in butter. Sadly not the first time we have been disappointed with this location but most likely to be the very last.

Great food, great service! Chicken Caesar pasta salad is amazing! Husband loves the monte cristo and also lemon pepper chicken!

We used to love cheddars but for some reason we haven’t been in a couple of years. We came by today and remembered how great and reasonably priced the food is. Ryan was our server and he was fantastic! We will be back soon!

Okay this is a special review. I’ve been to Cheddars any number of times before and never written a review for them. So why five stars for a national chain restaurant? Discovered cheddars when I used to live over in Irving and on a lark one day, I ordered the half rack of ribs thinking was this would be a one time and never again type of order. Whoever heard of ordering baby back ribs from a national chain restaurant that does not specialize in barbecue? Out of my mind right? So picture this, drool coming out of my mouth after eating the baby back ribs. Succulent. Tender. Moist. Cooked to perfection. Okay so please don’t try to picture the drool after all. That’s not very appetizing by any means. I have been back many times to the Irving location and the location up in alliance town center. Every single time the ribs have been totally outstanding. Now what I do is get the loaded baked potato as a side and another side. Top that off with an order of sweet tea. Trust me this is an epicurean delight that you can’t easily forget. So the five-​star rating is for the baby back ribs. Not all of the meals are five-​star. Get over it! This is my review. I noticed another reviewer counted the numbers of tables that were still covered when he went there. Well all of the tables were covered when I went there because the place was totally crowded on a Sunday afternoon and there wasn’t a single empty table. I actually totally dare you to order the baby back ribs and not enjoy them!. By the way they give you a little moist towelett to wash your hands and it’s fairly adequate but there’s nothing like going into the bathroom and giving a good scrub for all the wonderful sticky mouthwatering sauce still left on your hands after the meal. P. S. It helps to grab a toothpick on the way out the door if you don’t want to enjoy more ribs the rest of the day.

The food was decent but service was horrible! Half of our table ordered appetizers before the meal. The other half got salads which were brought to them to eat in front of the rest of us. 20 minutes had passed before «Kelly» even asked the kitchen about the appetizers. Then all our food came out after having seated at restaurant for $ 25 minutes. We canceled the appetizers and we never received an apology — furthermore, they overcharged me and it wasn’t corrected until 3 days later. I would boycott this place had the food not been so bad, it was their only saving grace. Btw, I called the next day at an hour I thought wouldn’t be too busy to speak with a manager, however I never got a call back like he said he would. And that was 3 weeks ago!

Had their baked potato soup and club sandwich!!! I would definitely recommend them. Service was great! The waiter we had was extremely friendly and very helpful. Will definitely go back.

Food is good but Cheddars please fix your lighting! It’s like eating dinner under an interrogation light!

DIRTY!!! I came in with my family. The hostess took us in the back and 12 tables (I counted) were dirty. Not from a party, these were individual tables and they want to sit us in there with no one else. So they moved us and I have one thing to ask. Ever heard of a vacuum? The carpets had so much food on them that I had to call the manager over. Well that didn’t matter… After talking to him he just said okay and did nothing. No push broom, nothing. I worked in restaurants a good portion of my life and I am completely appalled.
When we did get our food it was atrocious. Dried beef jerky is more moist than these ribs. My wife’s butter had cheese in it. And the food just looked like well… Pig slop! This is not the Cheddars I love.
*** The ONLY good thing about this place is Grant our server. He was the only thing that was right. He was awesome. I’m confident of he was the manager none of the aforementioned problems would have gone on.

I normally like cheddars. This visit was the slowest service I have ever had. I would think if it was the kitchen then the food would be hot. Food was room temperature. Very disappointed. Manager did take care of the issue but unfortunately this was my moms first trip here and she will not be back!

traditional comfort food. Their onion ring stack as an appetizer is rather generous and delicious. The monte cristo was good. I want to think I remember Bennigans just being somehow more special, but Cheddar’s was good.
My daughter had chicken strips, she loved them.
Wait staff was normal, pricing appropriate.
Cheddar’s has a place in life for simple food in a clean atmosphere.

Ate here tonight with family. Noise level unbearable! Service extremely slow and poor. Good quality not as good as other Cheddar’s I’ve been to!

Definitely meh about this experience. I was with two difficult teenagers that wanted different things to eat, so we compromised with a place that had something for everyone.
Appetizers are kind of amazing — I’m from the East Coast, and the portion sizes blow me away. My son ordered the chicken tender app, and got to choose a side. So, big, big, big portions here in Texas.
I had the chicken fried steak with mashed potatoes and green beans. The batter on the steak was delicious, but the steak was incredibly tough. Green beans were true southern style, with not as much bacon.
The cookie monster dessert was easily the best thing we had, and it comfortably served all four of us, teenagers and all.
I couldn’t rate this place very high, though, because the service was spotty at best, and while they may have been ignoring our table of crazy teenagers, one of the servers had body odor that literally ruined the meal for my husband. I didn’t personally smell it, but that’s probably a good thing.
Overall, meh. There are much better places to eat.

Peach tea was not sweet. New Orleans pasta was horrible. The chicken was tough and sausage burnt. No paper towels in ladies restroom. Given the check on a piece of wood. This place has gone to the dogs.

Was just here for a late lunch with mom. Had baked potato soup, onion rings, Philly cheese steak sandwich, and Monti Cristo sandwich. Very friendly staff, wasnt even busy for a early friday dinner. Also their BQQ sauce amazing!

Cheddar’s has a very big diverse menu. The atmosphere is interesting and comfortable and the service was enjoyable. 2 TVs in the bar area. Big fish tank separating the bar from the rest of the restaurant.

It seems as though it’s been forever since we’ve eaten here because the whole Heritage Trace area is a traffic nightmare. So we find other places to visit. Anyhoo, we did stop & have lunch and it was quite tasty and the prices are great. Service was quick & friendly. The Sweet Hot Chicken & Shrimp was yummy and only 562 calories! Other members got the Ribs, Chicken Tenders, Soup & Sandwich. All good! Great variety, good prices, & good service equals a solid place to dine at.

No Busboys= slow seating and inattentive waitstaff. We literally waited 11 minutes after being seated before a waitress for another table asked if anyone had helped us yet. Lost a STAR.
Of course, 3 tables next to us were vacated but not cleaned until well after we were served. Lost a STAR.
We normally avoid Cheddars due to poor service, and this trip was no different.
The food: HUGE amounts! Most dishes can easily be split and fill 2 people… Portions can sometimes feed 3 adult men if you include sides.
We had the chicken fried steak! The batter we took off of the behemoth could feed an entire person… But flour and tons of salt isn’t what we were after tonight.
I had the Cornmeal Catfish. The fish was mushy and without any body or flavor. The breading was bland as well. The lemon flavored mayonnaise that was supposed to be tartar sauce looked liked it had been sitting out and I felt it would be unsafe to eat it.
The truth is, this place was packed. Lots of people seemed satisfied, and lots of children running around.
However, the food was bad… the service was bad… the hostess was rude…
For 8:45pm on a Thursday night… I just can’t help but give this the worst rating available… because so many things would’ve been so easy to fix.

It pains me so much to write this review. We have always enjoyed Cheddars for a casual family lunch or dinner and their food and service has always been spot on… until recently. The last time we went the food came out wrong (sides.some missing and some mixed up) and part of it cold. Service was slow and abrupt.
I chalked it up to them having a bad day or us just getting a bad server. So we went back this past Saturday night. When we got there the hostess took us right to a table. When we asked to sit in a booth (there were numerous ones available right by where she was seating us) she said she would have to go check. She came back and said the only booths available were in the bar. We stayed at the table, staring at the booth a mere 3 feet from us that we wanted to sit in. Not even 10 minutes later they sat another couple in that booth. My husband was going to go say something to the manager but honestly there did not seem to be anyone over 20 anywhere in the vicinity. Our service was VERY slow and we had to flag someone down to get refills. When the food came out the soup was cold. Not just lukewarm but COLD. (I ordered soup and salad as my meal) I had to send it back to get nuked and it came out SCORCHING. I guess they thought they’d show me.
Needless to say, we will have to find a new regular spot to spend our money. :(
