I’ve been to Cabbage Rose probably 4 or 5 times, both before they made their move and after. I was surprised to see that the parking situation actually got worse in the new building, and the exterior doesn’t have as much character as the old building. Once you’re inside, though, there’s a ton of space and loooots of fabric. Most quilt shops I go to have a much smaller selection so it’s nice to find so much all in one place. They’ve got a little something for everyone with a focus on more modern prints which are my favorite. The prices are pretty standard for a quilt shop, though a little high for my normal budget. I’ve always found the employees to be very friendly and helpful if I have any questions. All in all, it’s probably in my top 3 favorite quilt shops in the metroplex. It’s not super close to my house so I don’t get out that way often, but I think it’s worth the trip.

I like CR, but I am a little miffed about some of their policies. While inquiring about a class I asked, as I always do with sewing classes, about the required materials. The employee was polite and said that I would be provided with a list when I selected the class. Turns out the days they were offering the class I wanted to take weren’t good for me(really? All of the same pattern on T/TH nights only??) she showed me the list of required items, however. I thanked her and picked up the paper, which I had written the dates on, and she stopped me saying that only when I pay for the class may I have the list of materials. I’m a big budgeter and materials are an important part of that, so when they don’t play straight with me I take my business(and sewing machine) elsewhere. That said, they have lots of birght, unique fabrics and carry the Amy Butler line of patterns. I do go in when I get an email that they’re having a sale.

Although Cabbage Rose isn’t close to my house, it’s worth a stop when I’m in the FW area. Nice selection of fabric and notions. While I love the open space in the new location, surprisingly the parking lot got worse. You have to turn in from a 1-way street, to which the parking spaces are angled against… then back out the same way.

Well, to be honest– I am not a seamstress(at all!), but my sister-in-law is a whiz at all things sewing. She took me here today to check out fabric(and so we could pick out fabric for her to sew me something). 1. As you pull up– parking is a little crazy. Small tip– park towards the back of the building. The street behind is a one way street and it is difficult to get out the closer to the front door you park. The building is also a little plain. 2. As you walk inside– this place is a quilters’(or fabric person’s) paradise. It is clean, bright, and lovely. Fabric as far as the eye can see. You will have to walk around 3 – 4 times just to spot most of the items. They also have great quits up around the walls to give you ideas. They have classes too :) 3. Bring one of those big sacks full of money with the dollar signs on the side. To be honest, it is a little pricy– but the fabric is GORGEOUS! It is so soft and good quality. They also have fat quarters and all kinds of quilting equipment. They also have some pre-made items on consignment. This isn’t Walmart fabric! You will love it though. You can just feel the quality. The baby fabric is just gorgeous too. So overall, this is just a lovely place to shop! I had a great time looking at everything and the workers were pleasant and helpful. When asked a question– they knew the answers right away and knew right where the fabric or items would(or should) be. They also have a special receipt program(where if you spend $ 400 you get a $ 40 gc)
