8.0 Restaurant & Bar

No frills, but food and service are consistently good. Full bar with ok drink prices, nice patio. I enjoy eating here often, as it’s one of the few places downtown where you can count on getting a good meal in a timely manner. Nice variety in the menu, including healthy stuff.

Great place to jam out to live music and smoke cigars. The martini’s are a little inconsistent, but you can always send them back.
Last few times they’ve had these 70s bands though. Disco sucks! Still a good place for a good time. Get there early to get a table though.
Food’s not bad… burgers and such.

My first few nights out in Fort Worth I always noticed 8.0 but never went in. When I finally decided to check it out, it was for my birthday celebration. The happy hour is really good and the food and drinks came out quickly and were exactly what we were expecting. It is a good place for larger groups, I had about 15 with me and we were accommodated very nicely. The wait staff and bartenders were quick to bring/​make drinks and were very polite. Although I do recommend to stay away from the patio area during the summer, it can get a little hot.

Eh. Its a patio bar and in August summer heat, not my top choice. We went on a Saturday night for a birthday and the house band Villain Vanguard or something like that was playing a mix of Jimi Hendrix and the Red Hot Chili Peppers circa 1992. Its 2011. Maybe I’d like it better on a Ranch Radio Wed. Just not my scene on a Saturday. Not awful but not worth a special trip. I agree with the other review that most drinks were girlie and involved blue curaco. I wont drink anything with blue liquor. Stick with mojitos.

The first night in Fort Worth 8.0 was packed; passed by and looked at the crowd and moved on. Saturday night and the place was dead pending the music that started around 8pm. Its all patio furniture with decent tables. Your waitress strolls out, you can’t decide.
Every drink on the back of the menu screams «woman» oriented, blue Cosmo this, Pearl Tini that on a giant laminated menu. Food didn’t look that good; A neighboring table agreed. I picked the manly drink of a Hurricane and liked it. I made a big deal about the girly drink thing; carbon copy metroplex blondie wasn’t taking any crap from anyone.
I have a sense of humor but apparently it was lost on the server waiting for the gaggle of girls waiting to see some 80’s cover band that was appearing just after we left. The space was incredible; like totally Austin music venue jealous. A huge curved glass structure that covered close to 5,000sq ft including all the tables with some trees underneath for color.
Server attitude dominated this review and it denotes a 3 star rating; perhaps the right band with the server swiping your sunflower or pug themed credit card and it would have been better. Tally 3 stars for the incredible amount of cash spent to create such a large venue in one of the cleanest downtowns I have ever encountered.

I came here during lunch rather than the weekend night life. I was with my family in town for a wedding and looked around for a place to eat in downtown Fort Worth. We came here and the restaurant/​bar was good. The menu is limited and I ordered just a sandwich along with some very good onion rings. The food is mostly burgers and sandwiches along with some specialty entrees. The wait staff were good enough to refill our drinks but it took awhile for the food to come out. In addition there were televisions around so I got to watch the majority of the Champions League final which was a plus. The food was not spectacular but not bad either. Maybe if I find my way back to Forth Worth and try it during the weekend to see how the night life compares then this place would get a better review.

You’ll have to pay a cover and push a thousand people out of your way to buy drinks at the bar (why isn’t there a bar on the patio, the most popular part of 8.0?), but you’ll have a good time! I was lucky enough to drop by when an 80’s cover band was playing, and it was so much fun to dance the night away to some Michael Jackson and Beastie Boys. If you’re like me and not a big fan of dance clubs but still like to get your dance on, this is a great medium (laid back outdoor patio with fun live music).

Extremely disrespectful to patrons at bar close. The bouncers literally form a line and push everyone out while making cow mooing sounds. After spending a couple hundred bucks here, it kinda makes me want to charge it all back.

If there was a half, I’d definitely give a 3.5. As it stands, I’m rating all kinds of stuff as a 3, and so we’ll go with that here, too. Over the last couple of weeks, I’ve come for lunch and for Happy Hour. For lunch, we had decent service. For Happy Hour, we ended up having decent service, but our waitress never really acknowledged that she heard us. So it was a bit of a nice surprise when our drinks and appetizer made it to our table with no problems. Skirts are short, so if that’s your gig, then maybe that’ll push it up another star. When I came for lunch, I had a really good chicken sandwich, so that was cool.

Its all about the patio. Apparently. This downtown fort worth veteran is known for its live music, and its ample patio. Indeed, the space occupied by the patio far exceeds the interior of the restaurant/​bar, and they still fill it. So ubiquitous is this patio, that a fortune was recently spent to place a huge, expensive covering over both the patio, and the trees throughout it (they made the material clear so that the trees still get sun, apparently). Because those few days of rain were really cramping the patio’s style. Apparently.
But here lays this establishments downfall to some extent, for as they live by the patio, so must they die by the patio. Because if I want to sweat and drink, I’ll just sit in my backyard. And given the focus on the patio, the interior really seems like an afterthought. The space is awkwardly shaped, and the dancefloor appears to be the afterthought it is. Service can be somewhat sporadic, though the drinks are decently-​made. I will frequently have to foist myself from my table to get my own drink at the bar, which never really puts me in a good mood.
If you are able to hit the sweet spot and get to 8.0’s on those few perfect evening’s when it is not too hot and not too cool, you will probably have a great time out on the patio. If, like me, you must consistently face down that fickle bitch which is Texas weather, and find yourself inside here… not so much.

One of my few average ratings, the music and easy access to beer are the few positives about 8.0’s. Servers can’t keep up on heavy nights due to too few and limited crowd mobility, always a cover charge. If it wasn’t for the music and eclectic crowds we’d be looking at one star.
Food: You don’t go to 8.0’s for the food, on good days it’s average. Google: Tarrant County Online Health Inspection Reports, always in the high teens, sometimes only one or two away from shut down.
Beer: You’re best bet here, you just walk up to the beer watering tanks and you’re set.
Hard drinks: Forget it, served inside, bars are almost impossible to get to.
Crowd: Totally eclectic on any night, somewhat based on the music.
Music: Outside venue, the primary reason this place has had such a strong following for so long. I can hear the drums as I type.

Cheese and Rice, they sure know how to keep you on your feet. No really, wear comfy shoes when your here. The cobblestone walkway is a nightmare for you hot messes with 6″ stilettos. If you have a baby with you (not sure why you would, but I’ve seen it), bring ear muffs for them. Loud doesn’t even cover it.
Luckily each time I’ve been here, I’ve been able to pish off the cover charge. A-​thank ya! It’s the kind of place where nothing really surprises you. I’ve seen a 21 year old have her birthday party there, complete with hats, whistles and balloons. I don’t really remember my 21^st… except for all the shots and a video camera. I digress… you’ll also see the lovely old couple via Del Boca Vista dining at 5:30 and then move towards the patio area for the tattoo lady and her Santa Claus/​biker boyfriend. Overall, the crowd = genius.
Now the food. Not gonna lie. Me likey. I had the calamari caeser salad and I wanted to face plant in it, had a bite of the BF’s Shrimp pasta… yummy and flavorful. Could have been a little hotter, but eh whatevs. My cosmo was strong and gave me a nice buzz, like my men.
Hmmm, would I like a kick in the face with a golf shoe? Prolly not, but you know what…8.0 does just fine. I don’t think I’d specifically make plans to go there, but if I’m walking around Downtown FTW and want to lose my hearing for a few days, paired with good people watching…*slow clap* Thanks.

8.0’s is the best patio in downtown.
This is a review for the BAR/​Patio, small food comment at the end.
The patio is by far the biggest reason for 8.0’s continued business. It’s a large area with tons of seating, and a stage at one end. 8.0’s can be a great venue for music, especially when the Spazmatics come into town, though be careful of the cover. I recently paid $ 15 cover which is outrageous for Fort Worth. I drive over to Dallas all of the time for concerts that I may only pay $ 10 for entry to see 3 or more bands. Other times you’ll usually find a live act playing all of the time. The patio makes for a great spring through fall after work hangout, as well as weekend mid-​day drinks.
As far as nightlife, I recommend as long as the weather is nice so you can be outside. If not, then just pass on 8.0’s because the inside is small and gets cramped quickly. «Scenery» is usually very nice looking. Attire can be casual or dressy. You’ll find old and young. Very mixed crowd. Drink prices are reasonable but could be cheaper (about $ 3.75 domestics at night). Try the Blue Thing, a specialty blue margarita that I only drink after 1am, because the next thing I know I’m waking up the next day.
Always a good time with friends and live music outdoors.

My BIGGEST problem with this restaurant is they attempt to sell a, wait for it, PEANUT BUTTER & HONEY sandwich. Yes, you read this correctly. A sandwich that you could make at home for a total cost of way less than a dollar, you can now buy at 8.0’s for $ 5.99! I’m not sure whose intelligence their trying to insult, but seriously… get real… I just can’t give someone a good review when they try to pull something like this. Not to mention they named this sandwich a PETER PAN & POOH (get it?). This is not the kids’ menu, and even if it was, I wouldn’t pay you $ 6 for this sandwich. Take this off the menu and don’t try to be cute with the names.

This place sure knows how to pack them in like sardines! After doling out a $ 15 cover to see The Spazmatics play, I kind of wish we had a chance at nabbing a table. But such was not our luck so we stood in front of the stage. I think my hearing is still partially gone and it’s been 5 days…
After I got a few beers in me, I let loose and danced my toosh off by the stage. I noticed a few girls sneak in by jumping the rope on the side street. Tisk, tisk — but if you’re broke, there’s your insider tip for the day.
Surprisingly we never had a problem getting a beer easily and the bathroom line was never unbearable. After The Spazmatics finished, we headed inside and continued with our dancing shoes until they turned on the lights at 1:40am. That’s when the cute boys I saw in the corner turned not so not cute anymore… talk about Coyote Ugly.
The DJ inside wasn’t that spectacular, and when I requested a particular hit he looked at me like I was an idiot. My song was never played :(
I keep saying it’s not one of my favorite Ft. Worth places, yet I end up there quite frequently. Ahh. love/​hate relationships.

Note: I’m reviewing the BAR only. I’ve never eaten at the restaurant.

Overall, this place is a good time just waiting to be had. The DJ was dead on– the live music was constant, the outdoor patio is big enough that you don’t have to hold on to a table all night long– there’s always one available. The service wasn’t great or awful… just be prepared to wait a minute or do what I do… order two at a time: P

Sceney, chock full of clean cut Fort Worth suburbanites, with an emphasis on greek TCU students, and young slender married couples.
Live music on an outdoor patio. About as fun as it gets in downtown Fort Worth.

Sunday brunch on the patio at 8.0 {Eight-​Point-​Oh}. I have read the other reviews and, I must say, that my review is different for several reasons:
1. I am patronizing in the morning. Sunday morning at that; so everyone else is asleep for the most part.
2. I am eating breakfast and not lunch nor dinner.
3. I am NOT drinking. I don’t understand how people live in a continual stupor of intoxication. There were two other tables present with everyone having at least 2 cocktails or beers before 11am. Amazing.
Cool, breezy, beautiful Sunday morning and we had the chance to sit on the patio. Very nice ambiance. The servers were very friendly and let us ask questions and look at the menus before taking a seat. We sat down, looked over the menu, and decided on the following items:
Biscuits and gravy
Bacon and cheese omelet (no ham) — abc avg
Steak avocado cheese and salsa omelet –very good
Home fries
Toast dry
Fruit
Normally, I would look at a meal according to how it was plated, in this particular instance I feel it would be better to look at the items individually due to the range of foods. I am in Texas, a true southern state. I see on the menu that they have biscuits and gravy. I LOVE biscuits and gravy; especially if it is sausage gravy. Do not ever order the biscuits and gravy at 8.0. The flavor was flat, at best, while the texture of the gravy was runny and the biscuits were hard and rubbery. Why do people serve food like this?
Our sides were the toast, home-​fries, and fruit cups. I cannot say anything bad about the fruit cup (kiwi, mango, and mainly strawberry), but I cannot say anything great either. It was just cut fruit in a cup, and it wasn’t the freshest fruit. The toast and the home-​fries were bad. The toast was served dry and it was cold — no butter. The home-​fries were NOT home-​fries; they were diced potatoes that had been deep fried like french fries. What happened to pan-​sauted home fries? If you deep fry them, it changes everything. Regardless of the cooking method, the potatos were hard on the outside and rubbery on the inside and served luke warm. I believe that all of the side items must be sitting around waiting to be used.
The main portion of the dishes — the omelets — were suprisingly good. My partner ordered a ham and cheese omelet only to find out that they don’t have ham; so bacon was substituted. The flavor of the bacon, egg, and cheese melded together wonderfully. The egg was not overcooked and there was not an over-​abundance of cheese nor bacon. This was an above-​average omelet. I ordered the Steak, Avocado, Tomato, Cheese and salsa omelet. A lot of ingredients, yes, but the flavor was amazing. I really enjoyed the melding of the flavors. The coolness of the avocado with the tenderness of the stake. Every now and again I would get a pepper (serrano, maybe?) that would just perk up my palate. This omelet was the highlight of the entire meal for me. I am not a big fan of omelets and will usually go out of my way to avoid them, but this omelet was awesome. I would have to give a 4 — 4.5 star rating for this omelet alone; as is, though, I am comfortable with a 3-​star review considering everything. I will definitely return for brunch; especially at less than $ 10 per person.

I went here during the daytime for a late lunch with group of friends so my experience was a little different from other reviewers.
I ordered the Monday blue plate special which was the spinach enchiladas. It was tasty and I was soo glad they made their enchiladas with corn tortillas. I hate enchiladas made with flour tortillas — the tortillas take on a weird gummy texture. I did have one complain though. Although it was tasty, there was too much cheese! I love cheese but I got tired of the cheesiness after a few bites.
My friend Ashleigh ordered the Tilapia fish tacos. She has an allergy to gluten and was concerned with how the dish was prepared. The waiter was helpful and ran back to the kitchen a few times to answer Ash’s questions. The chef forgot there’s gluten in the fish breading and so they re-​did the dish free of charge. They also sent out some chips and salsa because of the delay. They do take their sweet time in the kitchen. The wait was OK because we were able to hit up the happy hours menu that started out at 3pm. The beers were like $ 3 and I remember the margaritas were fairly cheap too.
Overall, the experience was pleasant. I enjoyed hanging out in the patio where it was shady and breezy. I’ll be sure to heed other Unilocaler’s warning and avoid this place at night.

Drinks were costly, it took forever to get one, and my friends’ mixed drinks tasted awful. Along with the five dollar cover, I ended up spending $ 15 on two beers. I guess if you’re trying to limit your drinks, that’s the way to do it, eh? We were also a little irate that they stopped serving food around midnight or so, forcing a visit to Whataburger afterwords.
But we came from my grad party and an after party in Dallas and thus we were all dressed up. At least we weren’t TOO out of place, seeing as most of the young ladies at this establishment were wearing heels and short dresses. It was Saturday, so it was a young-​ish crowd. The live music was great; we sat outside and enjoyed it and at times engaged in the horrendous dancing next to the stage. At 1:30, they closed the patio and we were all herded inside to the mini-​club and danced some more.
I’m not gonna lie– I still had fun. Go with a group! Better your friends than creepy crawlies posing as TCU students.

Its Thursday night in Fort Worth and my friends and I are walking around Sundance Square trying to find a bar. Flying Saucer, the only seemingly acceptable bar, was packed. The search continues. We end up at 8.0 and to our dismay were surrounded by smoke, a much older clientele, bad drinks, and bad tv.
I can see where 8.0 is going. Every location needs an attempt at a trendy bar and I can see this place being inundated with frat boys and rich girls on the weekend. There is always a market for a bar such as this. Not my bar of choice by any means but our options were limited and hell, we needed a drink.
Our group of 25 to 32 year olds were the youngest in the bar. Our drinks were absolutely horrific. I have never had a worse whiskey sour in my life. It was all sour and no whiskey. My friend’s had complaints of their own concerning their beverages. The tv was set on a channel I am assuming the bar produces because it was all sorts of terrible. You have scenes of either water skiing or sports bloopers then it would cut to girls prancing around in bikinis. In our way out we witness a merging of soccer and volleyball. Let your imagination run wild as to how that was pulled off.
If I am ever in Fort Worth again 8.0 will not be a bar on my re-​visit list.
