***this has been sitting in my draft reviews– so I’m going to see if Unilocal lets me post it :) I have absolutely nothing bad to say about this place. shout out to Alaina for putting up with us and bringing us extra red pepper jam! We arrived around 12 on a sunday for a ladies brunch and the place appeared empty. We were shuffled back to the left dining area where there was a guy playing guitar in the corner. He started out pretty chill– and slowly started going to ham like he had some pent up anger. The manager had to have a little coming to Jesus with him and the music mellowed out again. We ordered almost everything on the menu and Alaina coursed it out for us perfectly. Bacon Board, Biscuits with Apple Butter, French Toast, Pork Belly Benedict, and Chicken and Waffles. Much like Lauren– I did not want to share the bacon board and could have eaten it as my meal– yearning for nothing more than that beautiful Blood Orange Mimosa to wash it down. It had all kinds of bacon– maple, jalapeño, smoked and peppered with cornichon pickles, ground mustard, cran-walnut bread and an amazing red pepper jam. Up until the end the service was good– but the restaurant had also gotten busy– we are all big water drinkers and never got the last refill we wanted. I hope they get it together before we come back!

The concept of the restaurant is good, the food needs some tweaking. I tried the bacon wrapped dates, spinach and strawberry salad, queso, and the pork belly. It was probably the saltiest queso I have ever had. They flambé it at the table which is a cool concept, but the overall taste wasn’t there. The pork belly had a side of tortillas to make into tacos. Pork should be soft and fall apart. This pork belly had to be cut and we only had a butter knife so it took some time and the overall meat was tough. They have a rotating menu so maybe the choices are better, but I probably wouldn’t go back.

Lack luster wines. Expected to see at least a couple from Spain since they tout themselves as being a Tapas restaurant. Cornish Hen was brined too long and therefore was way too salty to eat. The duck confit was dry in the quesadilla. The topper was not a Port to finish off the evening. If you tout Tapas, how about an Albariño? The great things are the server who was phenomenal, great Opah special annnnnd that’s it. Unfortunately it will take a lot to get us back as there was just not enough good to outweigh the bad.

What a wonderful dining experience. 6:30 reservation on a Friday night for three. Patio was closed due to private party and no live music. But the service and flavors are well deserving of four stars. Chris was our server and was all around fantastic! We tried the brand new menu and every dish had perfect fall flavors. We tried the duck confit quesadilla, spinach and arugula salad, chili crusted pork with sweet potatoes, and the tempura lobster mac and cheese. I would order these dishes again in a heartbeat. Only miss of the night was the chocolate cake which we all found to be a little dry. Unlikely to order again. Although the Mexican Vanilla Ice Cream was to die for. And its made locally in Plano, Tx! Definitely give this place a try, and ask for Chris!

Magnolia St is one of my favorite parts of Fort Worth with so many small restaurants that all offer something different. I came here on a Sunday morning for brunch and was seated immediately. The décor and color choice is a bit tacky here. They do have a full bar and outdoor patio seating. The stuffed french toast was filled with a cream cheese and strawberry jam filling and served with eggs and a side of fruit. I wasn’t blown away by the french toast and felt it was a bit soggy. I also ordered a side of bacon. The bacon was very thick and not like any other bacon I’ve had. I also got to try the chicken and waffles which was presented and portioned very well. I felt the chicken lacked flavor and the waffles were not crispy enough. Overall, the food was not up to par. The service was outstanding. Our server was extremely attentive and we were checked on by two different people from management to make sure everything turned out ok. I really wanted to like this place, but it just didn’t do it for me food wise.

Possibly the worst new restaurant that I’ve tried. Anyone who says the ahi tuna steak was good has obviously never had fresh tuna, because it was the most bland piece of fish I’ve ever had. There was no sauce to even aid the sad piece of fish on my plate. Other than that, the drinks were weak and the service was blah. Not worth a visit.

Look in a metropolitan area like DFW this restaurant just didn’t make the cut the night I went. The Jamica Salad was suppose to have romaine lettuce. It had a lot of dark green lettuce, so you didn’t get that crunch or texture. The scallops were OK, really buttery. The stuffed tenderloin was good but a small portion for the price(A general tend for the restaurant). The Tuna, which is on at least 5 dishes is a frozen packaged fish. The middle of the tuna is pink, bright pink. Fresh Tuna is supposed to be dark blood red. The tuna had obviously been pumped of carbon dioxide for perseveration purposes. It was bland and tasted like tofu. The lobster roll has imitation crab. The fact they call it a lobster roll is beyond me. So I wouldn’t go there.

Visit this new restaurant in Saturday rainy night on the magnolia area, great atmosphere, beautiful bar, pleasant vibe… Order a bottle of wine and the waiter came back to tell us, we need to choose another wine, we did ask for a Rioja, Spain wine it was amazing!!! We order meatballs for appetizer, I didn’t t know if they where support to be cold or not so I ask, and send it back because of the temperature for a meatball. My husband had the white fish and rice, was amazing!! to be in the save side, I ask for a capresse salad to be in the safe side, I love it! Fair I mount of balsamic, plump tomatoes, fresh mix green until I found a long, black hair waved thru the mix green… I can’t scrap my mouth enough…

We were seated at the bar because the tables were all reserved, which was fine with us. The patio is fantastic, but the sun had yet to go down and was a bit too hot for us. The bartender was extremely knowledgeable and friendly, despite the fact that we didn’t order any drinks. The drinks all looked excellent, so I’ll have to try them next time. We had the Ahi Tuna Steak, and it was fantastic. Easily the best I’ve had. We also really enjoyed the Bacon Wrapped Dates, Kale, hummus, and meatballs. Overall it was a fantastic experience, and we will be back, next time with reservations.

A small group of coworkers and I went here for lunch. The service left much to be desired. The hostess who took us to our table looked as though she was completely incapable of smiling. She seemed annoyed with us as soon as we walked in the door, which was a bad first impression for us. We waited a very long time(about an hour) for our food to come out — and it wasn’t busy at all. As a vegetarian, there weren’t too many lunch options for me. I went with the margherita flat bread. It looked and tasted like something I could have made at home; it was basically a pita with grease, cheese, and big slices of tomatoes. The hummus appetizer was pretty darn good, but the queso left me disappointed. All in all, I probably won’t go back here. The prices, food, and service left much to be desired. I’d rather go to Spiral Diner any day.

I came here with a party of three with 8p reservations on a Thursday night. we got there about 7pm expecting to wait in the bar but we were seated immediately. The restaurant was clean and inviting. We shared the small plates of Housemade Hummus, Bacon wrapped stuffed Dates, Akashi beef meatballs and large plates of sea scallops with saffron beurre blanc, Lobster roll and white chocolate bread pudding with blueberry compote. All were wash down with several glasses of mango iced tea and were terrific. Service was prompt and polite, food was hot and tasty, prices are reasonable. I will be back

TLDR: this is a good, new restaurant on the slower side of Magnolia and definitely worth a visit! The longer version: The service was a bit erratic and overpowering at times… it felt like I was getting a haircut or massage at times, but the server didn’t even get over to our table for literally 10−15min after we were seated(at a fairly slow time). Explain tapas for me please, I’ve never heard of this unique concept… lol. I wanted to say«please dude, stfu we ate at Café Madrid before tapas was cool» but that seemed like a bad way to begin our time together. My wife ordered the 24plate punch, very good. II was driving so I got the tea, which was different tasting every refill but good. The smoked Salmon Crostini was ok. The bacon wrapped dates were probably the best plate we had. The cured meat/cheese board was full of delightful tastes and fairly generously portioned. The Akaushi Beef Medallion was a major disappointment. A grisly, overcooked mess, for $ 24. Expensive lesson, don’t order a steak here, stick to the more exotic specialties. Silly me. I wish the server or owner had asked about the food instead of just being friendly and thanking us for coming in. I think they have some major kinks to work out, but there is a ton of potential here and we will try it again down the road.

Ah I can’t wait to return to 24 plates! I came in for brunch and everything I had was delicious. We got the bacon board which was awesome. Four different kinds of bacons, candies stuffs and some cranberry bread. We couldn’t stop thinking about it after brunch. The pork belly benedict. Pork belly and eggs is my favorite combination. Biscuits are my favorite comfort food. Together, in my mouth, my taste buds and sensations went wild. Spinach omelette was fresh and flavorful. Blood orange mimosas are seriously the best. Everyone should try one in their lifetime. I can see parking being an issue, but it’s worth coming by.

I went here for my birthday for a late lunch with a 2:00 reservation. The food is tapas style so bring someone to share with! The food is AMAZING! I had the Akashi Sliders, they came out well presented but looked relatively plain; however, the flavor of the beef was incredible and being simple worked out amazing! The atmosphere is laid back and trendy. I definitely will be coming back here!

I was so excited to make reservations for 24 Plates and try it out. It’s in a fantastic location(as I’m sure you know). Magnolia has really blown up over the past few years and continues to surprise me with more and more unique, trendy, and quality businesses. I love this little spot and the old flower shop signs above the restaurant — look on the windows for the«24 Plates» sign, because there isn’t one hanging up. Looks old and historic on the outside, but very mod on the inside. Exposed ceilings, wooden walls, concrete floors, and accents of lime green and bright purple paint. When you first walk in you’ll see a giant painting behind the host stand. I’m pretty sure it’s a white French Bull Dog! Very colorful and very fun. We had reservations for 8:15 on a Friday night, and good thing because this place was BUSY! We were led past the bar(can’t wait to go back and sit there for cocktails), past the first dining space, and were seated in the second dining area at a little wooden table — comfortable and chic. This restaurant is much larger inside than you might expect, and they have an incredible patio space that I plan to enjoy once our autumn weather blows in. We were given paper menus(which I never love, but I understand when a restaurant has a new, changing, and revolving menu). Our server was extremely kind and gave us a run down of the cocktail and food menu. Everything sounds amazing. 24 plates to choose from, tapas style small shared plates, salads, entrees, and desserts. We began with cocktails, of course. I had the«All the Thyme» which comes in a mason jar with a sprig of thyme, organic vodka, lime juice, simple syrup, and raspberries. So good. For my second round I went with the«Raspberry Blush» — vodka, lime juice, champagne, simple syrup. It was a little too sweet for my taste, but well made and refreshing. Adam stuck with the«Brazilian Rita» and loved it. We decided to start with 3 appetizers that our waiter double checked were gluten-free. The«Bacon Wrapped Stuffed Dates»(with feta cheese and pinenuts) were SOSOGOOD, but there are only two bite-sized pieces, so order more! $ 3 isn’t bad. We also had the«Queso Flameado,» and although the presentation was glorious(I love anything set on fire), I wasn’t a fan of the queso itself. It was quite runny and it didn’t seem or taste like quality cheese. The chips were thick and powdery. Not bad at all, but not my favorite. The«Roasted Kale Sprouts» with red pepper, lemon, garlic, and pancetta was my absolute favorite dish for the evening. It was beautifully spicy, fragrant, and flavorful. I loved the crunchy pancetta pieces, and the kale itself tasted wonderful. Perfectly bitter. We decided to order the«Compart Duroc Dry Aged Pork Belly» as our entrée, and it was gorgeously plated with chimichurri, avocado crema, pickled onions, orange achiote, and a few corn tortillas. I know that pork belly is a piece of fatty meat, but for some reason that probably sounds irrational, it seemed to be too fatty for my taste. The flavors were great and we ate every bite, but I didn’t enjoy the texture. Maybe I’m not a pork belly person, although I’m typically a fan of fatty meat! Overall, the food was hit or miss for me. I either really loved my plate or I wasn’t a fan. There are many more things on the menu to try, and I’m excited about that — I’ll definitely return. It did take awhile for our plates to hit the table once we ordered, but they’re a new and busy restaurant so I totally understand. I think they’re off to a great start and I hope they’re here to stay. I’m loving the tapas idea and hope it’ll take off!

I came here over the weekend for brunch with some lovely ladies. Parking was a bit tricky, but I found a spot around back by the apartments under construction. I walked in through the back patio area, which is super cute btw. I can see myself drinking wine and sharing bites of food out there on a nice evening. We ended up sitting in the main dining area where they had some live music being played by a guitarist. It was total overkill at first, but thankfully the manager asked him to play some less aggressive, soft music. This isn’t somewhere I would bring someone who is hearing impaired or who wears hearing aids. Since one of our group was running a bit behind, we opted to order a round of mimosas and the bacon board. The mimosa comes with a scoop of blood orange sorbet in it. It’s very light, not too sweet and perfect brunch accompaniment. The bacon board was heaven. There was smoked bacon, peppered, jalapeño, brown sugar and maple glazed. They also had a smokey mustard, red pepper jelly, tiny cornichon pickles and a cranberry walnut bread to go with the meat candy. I’m pretty sure that could have been my brunch, but alas I had to share. Once our whole group was there we decided to share the apple butter biscuits, french toast, Benedict and the chicken and waffles. The Benedict was my favorite with a nice sourdough bread, pork belly and tangy hollandaise. The chicken and waffles was cute, but the waffle tasted like a gingerbread cookie. Not a fan. The french toast is very sweet but delicious. I’m glad we shared it because I couldn’t eat a whole plate of that! The apple butter biscuits were cute and tasty. I don’t see myself ordering them again with out asking for the butter on the side. I realize it’s part presentation to stick the biscuits onto the butter(maybe also to keep them from sliding about) but if you don’t eat them quickly the bottom of the biscuit gets soggy and it’s a waste. Our service was great up until we paid. Then no water refills came. The place wasn’t full, so it’s not like we couldn’t lounge and chat. None of these things will keep me from returning, I may just ask for a different section and I know what not to order :) For 3 ladies with drinks and food our total was 75 before tip. Not too bad for brunch.

I’ve been to 24 Plates twice now and I’ve both enjoyed it and been disappointed. The service is nothing short of excellent, the atmosphere enticing and the house cocktails are quite good, if slightly on the sweet side. I’m ok with that. The Sip n Repeat, TX Smash and Magnolia Mule(their riff in the Moscow variety) are all quite good. Sadly the food has been hit and miss. I’ve had plates I thought were great: the Akaushi meatballs, pork belly tacos and smoke salmon crustini. All were very, very tasty. I’ve also had plates where some parts if the dish felt like an after thought. The shrimp skewers are a good example. The shrimp has been cooked perfect both times but the sauce/seasoning was lacking. The flash broiled broccoli with horseradish is another. The broccoli wasn’t cooked as much as it was flashed and the horseradish was all over some pieces and not on others at all. And sadly I’ve been disappointed by the large plates I’ve ordered. I’ve had the tuna steak ordered rare which to me means barely sear it an keep it raw. I’ve had the pork tenderloin which is served roulade style with a stuffing. Both were severely over cooked and the stuffing in the pork frankly tasted like over cooked taco meat. I hate to have to say that. I love tapas. I love the look and feel of the place itself and I know and like a number if the servers. But the food has been very hit and miss, and when it has missed it has done so by quite a bit. I hope 24 Plates will be successful and work out the issues I have encountered. If so, it will be a great addition to the area.
