Horrible experience., just left the restaurant and they told me they had no rice lef. How can a Japanese restaurant not have any rice left? Consequently I had to leave without ordering anything. unacceptable!

Mediocre attempt, looked nice plated but flavor didn’t deliver. I had crispy salmon skin roll, sounded good in theory, but skin was not crispy and was more like a piece of wet thin plastic in the roll, texture was disgusting. Ordered spicy rolls with no spicy added, asked for siracha on the side. for really delicious sushi sashimi or sushi style go to Asakusa, this place just doesn’t deliver, didn’t even come close to the quality at Asakusa and at Asakusa the chefs will make a special request, I specifically heard a customer ask for her roll to be spicy salmon and avocado, I heard the waitress say she didn’t think he’d make that then heard her ask him, he sternly said charge more! The waitress asked«how much»…What the hell? Then she returned and told the customer he couldn’t make that, must have decided he didn’t want to do it even if she paid more, bullshit, he can, he won’t. Thats the whole point of sushi and sitting at the bar where they’re working and having them make you whatever you want or usually you can ask them to just make you something not on the menu, that’s the fun of exploring sushi. Good sushi chefs are happy to do this and even enjoy it because they get an opportunity to make you what they like, a chef’s dream. This place just doesn’t get it.

We ordered the sushi. We were ready for something pretty spectacular based on Unilocal reviews and looks. Let’s just say that looks can be deceiving. Most all of the sushi we ordered was very bland and tasteless. We were not very impressed and will not likely be making a return visit. I wanted to like it, but the food has to taste decent for me to come back. The rest of the visit was fine… Hence the three stars.

Had lunch with a girlfriend & mom. Good lunch specials & service. Had shrimp dumplings & shrimp tempura appetizers. They have a 2 or 3 roll lunch special that comes with miso soup & house salad. Soup hot & flavorful, salad was fresh, crisp & cold with a ginger vinaigrette. The lunch special rolls are from a specific list of standard style rolls. We had the avocado & vegetable roll & there is another lunch special of specialty rolls where you choose one with soup & salad. Had the Tokyo roll(tempura shrimp, avocado & crab) changed to soy wrapper instead of seaweed. All served promptly & tasty. Ice teas & waters stayed full. Reasonably priced lunch & quality food, served well. The other teriyaki lunch specials looked good, will try them next time. Recommend for a different lunch adventure. Enjoyed very much.

This place is decent, but I do not plan on going back. Service wasn’t great and the sushi was very average. The chicken teriyaki was good but the veggies that came with it were not cooked correctly. We went at lunch time on a Sunday and we’re disappointed that the lunch menu wasn’t offered.

Food is great. Service is great but a little pushy at times they want to clear the table fast. Also yelling a lot when entering and exiting the kitchen a little annoying. But here is my biggest issue with this place. They advertise the 2 meals for 1 price on their main sign out front with no restrictions but get this when I ordered it the waitress told me that deal is only good Monday through Thursday. Also there is no sign on the menu saying that. I think it’s a cheap trick they are running here. But anyway I will go back because the food is good.

Always a tasteful time at Koto! Their customer service is well to go along with the quality of the food that they offer. I ordered the clear soup, salad, and the chicken/steak teriyaki entrée with steamed rice. The soup was nice and hot, and tasted delicious! I’m not a big salad guy so I didn’t touch the salad, but my girlfriend thought that it was good. The chicken/steak teriyaki was very good! The way they even decorate the plates is pretty cool. They add slices of oranges and carrots to the plate, as well as broccoli. The steamed rice could be eaten by itself it is that good. Added a bit of their soy sauce to it and went to town! Definitely will make another trip to Koto in the future.

I went here specifically because of the positive Unilocal reviews and I was just visiting the area. I must say I was terribly disappointed. The service was good, albeit slow. That was understandable because it was an empty restaurant(on a Saturday afternoon) and they must have only had one chef. The sushi took a good, long while to arrive. The server kept my glass full, though. Very attentive service. I ordered the Black Diamond roll,(again, because of a rave review here) and what was placed in front of me looked very unappetizing. It was rolled very loosely and felll apart a little too easily as I tried to pick it up with chopsticks. The greasy texture took away from the flavor, which I had trouble deciding as to whether or not it would have been passable if presented in a better package overall. The basic sushi came in next featuring a California roll, white fish, salmon, tuna and what liked like a stick of crab. The sashimi was a little too warm somehow and tasted less than fresh. I couldn’t bring myself to finish it. The crab was chewy and tasteless. Overall, very disappointing for such a highly-rated restaurant.

Kamikaze roll is killer! Love this place, have eaten numerous times & have never been disappointed. I’ve only tried the sushi, never the hibachi side. Very nice atmosphere, clean, quiet, and updated.

Best sushi in town. While it might not have the best setting as some of the other places(in my opinion), their sushi is theee best in Fort Wayne. Koto is where I take my girlfriend on sushi dates, and will continue to go there in the future!

I love this place. Everyone seems to prefer Asakusa over Koto but I definitely do not. Asakusa always has seaweed wrapping on the outside and lettuce on their Philly roll which I find super odd. Koto is always on point with their food.

Came in for lunch and they have a great special! Two rolls for $ 8.95. Of course there’s a certain selection of rolls you can pick for this deal. I would have loved to add a different roll that’s wasn’t offered in this section. I also loved how they offer a salad and soup for the lunch time. The service was great, wasn’t really busy so she was attentive to us. However, I had to ask for water when I was empty even though I put it at the end of the table so she could see it. The rolls were great, the spicy tuna roll was just a tad too spicy but I loved it! Definitely will come again!

Great ambience and excellent service. The seaweed salad and edamame was standard but good. The sushi, however, was excellent. I went Dynamite Roll and it was fresh, large and great.

The house pinot noir was good. The chirashi bowl and the grilled squid were okay.

Good food, but sapporo’s is a better experience. Went there with girlfriend to try a new hibachi grill. Asked to be seated for 2 and they took us to a regular table. We said we wanted the hibachi and they told us they would have to see if they could seat us and we waited for a group to show up to join them. This was strike one as at sapporo’s you can get on the grill any time. Strike 2 was the menu doesn’t allow for splitting hibachi platters. I understand the seating is valuable, but doesn’t make any sense if you want to order other food and split the grill. Thankfully when we told the waitress the amount of sushi we wanted to order she made an exception. I was very happy about that. Good food, but not happy about their policies. Or waitress was great though.

The food overall is overpriced. Plenty of sides, but none are very good. Good portions, but the quality of food served is subpar. The fried cheesecake is pulled from the freezer when you order it and burnt around the edges for appearance. Chinese restaurant masquerading as a Japanese steakhouse.

Excellent food! The prices are very reasonable and the service was great. It was really close to my hotel so I had to go back a few times!

Koto is always our guaranteed dinner meal whenever we’re in Fort Wayne(used to live there). The Hibachi Steak is my go-to choice, and Jimmy and his crew always provide excellent service. Koto is famous(among locals) for their fried rice, which has to be experienced to be believed.

This place was awesome. Our Hibachi chef was cool as hell, funny and on top of that, could throw down on that iron son! Everything was cooked to perfection and im a tough customer. Especially when it comes to asian cuisine, or seafood in general. I went a few times, alot actually, not much else to do in Ft. Wayne.lol. The art and artifacts on the walls were awesome. Ancient Japanese theme, very calming and inviting.

I’m an east coast guy and travel a ton. Love west coast sushi but would never think to try it in the midwest. Well you fine Unilocalers have written some great reviews so I’m going to give it a shot. If you read my reviews, you know my favorite thing in the world is Sea Urchin. I rant when it’s on the menu and they don’t stock it. Here we go again… Me:“Do you have Uni?” Mickey: «Of course and it’s fresh». Seriously? Tuesday night? Indiana? and this dude has uni. It was not only fresh but amazingly delish and sweet Maine variety. Mick, I’m your new best friend. Next I went with some sashimi of salmon and tuna. Perhaps the most amazing presentation I have ever seen. Finished up with the Koto roll. I’ve never seen anyone sear mayo with a torch. A dancing party of flavors and tectures kickin it up in my mouth. Great place and I will most def return on future trips to the fort.
