It is sad to see how a prior high quality establishment has become to be such a poor restaurant over the last few months. I was hoping it was just my one time bad experience the last time but after talking to several others over the last few days that Chops has become a consistently poor choice to dine in the Fort Wayne area. I had not only poor service but a server that was not friendly, not nice, on the rude to argumentative nature. The drinks were done well, the shrimp cocktail was also good but when it came to the entrees. Wow ! The worst fish I have ever seen served. It was over cooked. No. It was Cooked beyond enjoying the flavor VERY dry from middle to edge. When I showed the server(after she finally came by our table 20 minute later) She said she would get me something else but the other person dining had almost finished. I said no at first but she kept trying to sell me on something else(to get the bill up in price) so she brought me the Tuna which was not prepared as ordered, I decided to give up and when she came back she was what I would say very unprofessional and boarder line rude. Indicating nothing is wrong with the food. Well… I think this is the new standard for Chops from the staff to the manager to the owner not caring about the customer and quality of the product served. Wait for a few new restaurants to open and if they just provide a quality product and watch the details Longterm and of course provide great service they will do amazing ! Look out Fort Wayne there are lots of opportunities for better restaurants than what the old ones use to be. Of course there are a few good establishments still around and I know if they stick with quality and service they will thrive !!!

Everything about Chops is amazing! The staff immediately greeted us with a smile, which is becoming rare these days, and was able to quickly seat our large group. The waitress soon followed for drink orders which returned a few minutes later. She provided the specials and helped clarify some menu items before another round of refills. She took special request(to remove item from dish) in stride and gave us amazing service with just the right amount of attention. The food was so good! I usually try something new but others in my group stick with the same dish and everyone loved the food! The menu offers something for everyone and I often enjoy whatever special they have? you will not be disappointed! We were stuffed from the generous portions so we didn? t have desert but we were tempted. The staff didn? t rush us out after clearing the empty plates and we had a few drink refills before we left. Chops has great food with a helpful and fun staff. They have everything for a great meal at a reasonable price. If you read this far in the review? just go!

Tried a local place and was super disappointed… shoved into a corner bar seat because I was solo and that’s fine. My entrée was the same price as a «side of crab legs» manager claimed it was ½lb, it was 1/3lb at best. I don’t appreciate being lied to and won’t be back! The prime rib was over cooked, the salad was palatable and the bartenders were nice. It’s a sad day when I prefer a chain over a local place…

Was surprised how deep fried the chicken quesadillas were. If you like deep fried, you will love this dish if not… I wouldn’t recommend it

It was a great first experience! By far one of the best Moscow Mules I’ve tried so far! Wasn’t too minty how some places make them! I went with friends so we split 4 appetizers; the risotto, Mac n cheese, a flatbread and fish tacos. The risotto had steak and was very good. The Mac and cheese was baked and had little pieces of meat and it was delicious! I didn’t try the fish tacos because it had relish but my friend loved them. The flatbread was really good, it had spinach, scallops, cheese and veggies! Definitely recommend these apps! The crowd is a bit older since some of the items are pretty pricey so definitely go with a group and split food but the prices for the food was very reasonable!

Service at the bar was excellent. I ordered the blackened shrimp with roasted vegetables and saffron rice. The vegetables were corn and beans not my cup of tea. The rice wasn’t good. Overall I would visit again to try other dishes.

Tool my wife there for our anniversary. For a $ 100 meal I have certain expectations. And chops did not meet them. I keep trying to give this place my business but the food is sub par. You can get better pasta at Biaggis and better steak at Cork, Soda, Baker St or 125.

This place is GREAT on paper. I came here reading the reviews and looking at the menu and was really excited to try it. I picked up my menu and everything sounded great, my mouth was watering as I thought about the flavor combinations especially given the great Unilocal reviews. We started with the Walleye Fingers because they were different and here is the description: Black sesame and almond crusted walleye, flash-fried crispy & served with sweet chili sauce Sounds good, but in reality it was pretty bland. Next I had the wedge salad. Pretty typical for a wedge salad, but there’s not really much to that. Finally, I had the ribeye and man that was SOOO disappointing. It was probably one of the worst ribeyes I’ve ever had. I mean I recognized the cut, so I’m not questioning the fact that it was a ribeye, that’s definitely what it was, but I’m guessing that it must have come from a 78 year old cow, because it was tough and not at all what a ribeye should be like. On top of that, the«fresh vegetables» were clearly«frozen vegetables», not sure why any legitimate restaurant would serve up frozen veggies with a steak, and the potatoes were so boring and bland that I’m not sure if my dog would have eaten them. I would not come back to this place unless someone had pictures of me in a compromising position.

Great cozy steak house. Don’t let the location steer you away. They are in a strip mall but the interior is very comfortable and classy. Family run business and the whole staff works hard to make it an enjoyable experience. The food is great and reasonably priced, just a couple of dollars more per person compared to the chain steakhouses.

Eating a plant based diet a steakhouse is not my first option, business dinner. Colleagues enjoyed their food and the service was good. Salad was mediocre but I had various vegetables which were excellent including their marinated mushrooms and maple glazed sweet potatoes.

Our favorite restaurant in FW. We have always had great food, and just as importantly the service is top notch. The price is very reasonable. The owner is often present and very friendly. We go out of our way to share how much we appreciation his restaurant. Dress varies from business casual to casual. The only improvement I would like to see would be to update the furniture. Nicer furniture could put this place over the top. Lastly, the dining room has much better atmosphere than the back room. When getting reservations, ask for the dining room. The back room is very bland and lacks any ambiance. All in all, we are huge fans!

The best word I can use to describe Chop’s is average. Nothing bad really to complain about, service was above average for sure. The food though was ok, for fine dinning I can say you would have as likely the same experience at Red River or Cork and Clever. Both these places will be costing you the same amount of money and the food is just better. That being said I don’t want to say the food was bad, it just wasn’t great. If I’m dropping $ 75 for dinner(which I did including tip) I want to be blown away. If this was a high school math test, Chop’s got a C+.

Based on several good reviews I wanted to check this place out. I started with Wall Eye fingers and I went for Hanger Steak for main course with Goat cheese salad as side. Both were delicious! Quality of food, Ambience, great service deserves 5 star rating.

The Chop Salad can’t be beat! The service is good. Facilities are clean. Challenge to find close parking depending on when you are dining since they are located in a shopping center.

Wonderful experience. Food and service were excellent. It is a noisy place but it adds to making things a bit festive. As noted in other reviews the Wine selection is phenonmensl and all in my party of eight were satisfied. I am s beer drinker and disappointed in their limited choices. Worthwhile place and one of just fee truly upscale restaurants in Fort Wayne.

Well this place is just a gem and a half. It might be the overall best value restaurant I’ve ever been to. A typical meal here is under $ 30 — the same meal would cost you nearly double in other places. Part of me feels guilty eating here — like I’m somehow taking advantage of them… But then I cram another delicious meal down my gullet and forget about such silly details. The soup of the day has never been less than amazing, but the French onion is hard to pass up. I live on the coast, so It was out of sheer curiosity I ordered the fish here one day. I don’t know where they’re getting this stuff, but it is incredibly fresh and they know how to cook it right. The fish has been my go-to as of late — and I consider myself a meat and potatoes guy. You can’t go wrong with a steak, chop, or nice slab of prime rib either. We usually call for reservations around lunch during the week — they’re pretty popular.

Best place for drinks and ‘tizers in Fort Wayne, but also excellent dinner spot for a large group! Pros — Huge wine pour. I promise it will be the best pour you will ever have at any restaurant. — You can split the entrees in the Wine Bar portion of the restaurant. I don’t know of many places that allow this anymore, but makes for a great excuse to share food with your friends and family at half the price! — The bleu cheese potato chips are absolutely amazing. So is the pretzel bread with mustard. So are the coffee and donuts for desert. You get the picture. — Signature Chop salad is just perfectly executed… so is the spinach/goat cheese salad! — Menu changes with the season, chef shows creativity Cons — Busy almost any night you go, make reservations and don’t expect the best seat in the house. — Steak frites: the steak was not a good cut of meat… too chewy and«gristly.» Hope this helps!

Just to clarify, I am giving this restaurant 5 stars — for Fort Wayne. There just aren’t a lot of quality options here, but this is one. I stopped here for lunch while in town on business. I ordered the bruschetta chicken which was delicious along with some very tasty key lime pie. Service was great as well. Highly recommend!

When in the fort, go native, right? Please forgive me my fellow Unilocalers, but I had seen your wonderful reviews on this place. Frankly, I was afraid that a strip mall restaurant couldn’t make the cut. My profound apologies. Without the complete mea culpa, lets jump straight to the good stuff. The service was outstanding. When I asked about the special, I received the same briefing that I heard 20 minutes later from a server at an adjacent table. It was detailed, consistent and conveyed a passion for the dish. Bravo. Being a east coast guy that lives a stones throw from salt water, I go for beef when I’m in the heartland. Tonight we started with the Walleye appetizer and it was amazing. Locally sourced, freshwater fish done in a light batter and carefully fried. Served with a spicy and sweet sauce, it was amazing in texture, taste and balance. Seriously folks, you have so much bounty in Indiana, we can skip the seared Ahi Tuna that’s been flown in from the coast. For the main course, I chose the filet. An exquisite piece of beef that was coaxed into a perfect medium rare, rested and served with a brilliant presentation of sides. A great dining experience and I will be sure to stop back for more in future trips.
