The food was bland, but mostly edible. The drinks were watered down. It was pretty forgettable, though, except for the service. Service so lousy it’s funny is hard to forget. Our waitress was rude, slow, and sullen. I didn’t drink my water because she was so visibly annoyed by the request for a refill that I was unwilling to drink it for fear of something other than water having been included! Can’t recommend.

I’ve been to Toners multiple times. Roast beef sandwich is great and all you cat eat crabs is awesome. The white garlic sauce with the crab legs is phenomenal. The nice little outdoor seating area is cool when the weather is nice. The bar area tends to draw an older crowd later in the evenings. Guinness on draft at a decent price is always a plus. Service has been above par most of the times I have come.

Came for lunch. Nice old building but it felt like they forgot to put the heat on, the place was freezing. Ordered the Caesar salad and onion soup. Salad came with bottled dressing but was quite large. The soup was good but I looked like they used packaged croutons instead of bread. For a place that seemed to be billing itself as an Irish pub they didn’t have very many authentic Irish menu options.

Went to Toners fir the first time tonight with my daughter and wife. Our friends recommended the roast beef sandwich. All 3 of us ordered roast beef and I also ordered the French onion soup. Overall the visit was pleasant. My only complaint was the slow service. The waitress Nicki seemed to be the only server on a not so busy Thursday night. We waited 20 minutes to place our order. For this casual sandwich type Irish pub the food was good. The roast beef was very tasty and the side of aus jus was a nice touch. The roll was soft and the meat was tender, it came with pickle and chips. Fries would be nice for $ 7.95. The homemade French onion soup was very good and came with the right amount of onions, cheese and bread. Overall the meal was very good for the price. Toners a nice pub place to grab a quick bite, watch sports and have a beer with friends. Improvement in the service side of the dining experience would be helpful.

Roast beef is delicious and the bathroom smells like Christmas. Great service too!

It’s a shame this place is up for sale because they really do have the best roast beef sandwiches in the area. The service isn’t always the greatest, and the décor is a bit dated as noted by other reviewers, but I can overlook all of that if I really want a great roast beef sandwich.

We stopped by Toners on Memorial day weekend because we wanted to eat outside. They only had a small menu available. We tried the meatball sandwich, chicken salad, hamburger & pulled pork. The service wasn’t horrible but it wasn’t good either. The burgers are frozen but they are only $ 5.75. The chicken salad was good and my friends said they would have it again. The meatball sandwiches and pulled pork were average. I used to frequent toners year ago and I haven’t been back in several years. The owners are all great guys but the food just doesn’t leave me wanting to come back. They do have an all you can eat crab leg special during the week that has recieved great reviews.

Roast beef sandwich was awesome… especially for the price! Soup of the day was Maryland Crab and it was very good too and only $ 3.75 for a big crock. Another reviewer said it was dirty… I ate in the dining room area as you walk in and it looks pretty clean to me. Waitress was also pleasant and attentive. Would definitely come back when I’m in the area.

I stopped in for a late lunch this week as I wanted to try the roast beef sandwich. This place really puts the dive in dive bar. I sat at said bar and ordered said sandwich with provolone. I sipped a cold domestic draft while I waited. I need to say again that this is a beat up old dive bar. It’s cluttered, it’s not the cleanest, and the bartender tolerated me but I sure as hell didn’t get a warm welcome! My sandwich was up quickly and it was very, very good. The meet was flavorful and plentiful. The gravy was excellent and not too salty which really turns me off. It’s messy and you’ll need a napkin or two or five. I’d stop back in a heartbeat if all I wanted to do was grab a sandwich, quaff a brew and go. I’m certainly not showing up for scintillating conversation and amazing décor!

Ahhhhhh! Absolutely terrible. I’ve been there twice(don’t ask.). Both times they’ve messed up both me and my friends order. They even admitted that they had mistaken both orders and instead of asking to take it back, they made a joke about us eating it still. Regardless to say. I’d rather go to Friendlys before heading back to this dump. I saw a comment from 2010 about the Diet Coke tasting really odd and dirty. Well I am unhappy to say that this problem still exists. Maybe it’s just the Diet Coke… Nope!.. We also ordered Iced Tea and to nicely put it… there was only one sip taken. I’m scared to think what even goes on behind this kitchen. Avoid at all costs, nothing is safe to order besides, maybe the chips. Plus the place itself is extremely dirty and outdated. Food just thrown together without care. I get it. It’s bar food. But at least make a succesfull hamburger? Trust me it’s not THAT hard. Put some effort into it, if you are looking for reoccuring costumer… Good luck.

if this place was good enough for geo. washington and ben franklin, who am i to question our forefather’s? It hasn’t really changed that much in 200+ years, the roast beef sandwiches are to die for and the horse radish makes them outstanding, the beer cooked hot dogs are great too(not as filling but good with a brew) my father took me here starting in 1967 and have been going back ever since, i take my kids there and they love it

I dropped by for a drink and was charged $ 9.00 for a Beefeaters on the rocks! I asked what they cost during happy hour and was told it was the same. This place does not warrant prices like that from their snooty bar maids, I can tell you that.

The beef sandwich was very good, but the place is dirty and the smoking area(for the staff apparently) is right outside the front door. Its primarily a bar and I wasn’t expecting fine dining, but if character comes from the joints old sticky tables then I’d be afraid to look in the kitchen.

It’s a cool dive of a joint. You should not expect fancy, but you can expect nice people with good food. It is clearly a local joint where people know each other and are open to new faces. I had the Philly Steak sandwich with all the fixin’s and american cheese.(wish I would have went with provalone.) The sandwich was awesome and huge. The Bass Ale was good and cold. The bartender was friendly but not too much and the patrons, well, I felt like I was in a Cheers episode. Next time I am in the area I will likely go back.

Went to Toner’s with the family a few months ago for the«all you can eat crab legs» special on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Out of the three flavors(Original, Garlic, and Cajun) my favorite is the garlic. The Cajun is very good too but only in moderation. It could get too spicy for me. The men seemed to like the Cajun flavor the most. I’d recommend ordering the minimal amount of clusters if you are a slow eater like I am. The flavors(the garlic in particular) tend to clump up at the bottom of the plate as they get cold. p. s. The wings are also very good.

SImply put– Ew. Service sucked. Tables were dirty. Smelled mildew-y. Food was thrown together. Even the fountain soda tasted old. I wasn’t expecting gourmet by any means, but standard bar fair would even have been nice. No such luck. Wasn’t even impressed with this«famous» roast beef sandwich. I was just all around skeeved out by this place.

I’ve been looking for a great all you can eat crab legs place for a while now. I absolutely LOVE this place. First, you have the option of going either on Tuesday or Wednesday. For $ 25 you can AYCE crab clusters with delicious french fries. The best part? The crabs come in 3 flavors — original(plain), Cajun(like Old Bay), and Garlic(in a garlicky creamy goodness). My girlfriends like the garlic flavor the best. My usual plan is Cajun, then original, then end with garlic. One of these days, I will eat 4 plates.

Discovering this archetypal roadside tavern this morning as I visited Coffetopia at Wawa across the street, I had high hopes when I returned same day for lunch! Toner’s plays down their poisonous-sounding name for prominently displayed ‘Beef and Ale’ and is basically good, but not remarkable. Pros –Since we were in Rome, I ordered the ‘famous’ roast beef sandwich and got hot sliced beef on a bun. Straightforward and good. Especially with the side of fresh horseradish. –Quick service –Affordable –Roadhouse Vibe — the Wet lunch crowd was getting real comfortable and it wouldn’t surprise me if they kept on keeping on until Happy Hour. The bar looks like it could get rockin’. –Plus they’ve got Big Buck Hunter. Quibbles –Meh –All available surfaces(from tables to glasses) are covered with local advertising from plumbers and tattoo parlors.

Ever watch one of the travel-related shows on the Food Network(Feasting on Asphalt, $ 40 a day, Diners, Dives and Drive-Ins, etc.) and wished you could just magically stumble across one of those special little local places that serves up a fantastic specialty? That just happened to me at Toner’s. I’m traveling for work and staying at a random Holiday Inn(it isn’t even that convenient for my meeting tomorrow — just here for the points!) and Toner’s is down the street. I went by it while trying to find the hotel among the sun glare and was both intrigued and turned off by the name. I love both beef AND ale, but the name just seemed unnecessarily straightforward. However, since it was so convenient and had three great reviews on Unilocal,I decided to give it a shot. I just got a take-out hot roast beef sandwich with Swiss cheese and horseradish on the side, so I can’t really give it a full review including service, etc., but the bartender was nice. The inside is dated and a bit on the divey side, but not unpleasantly so. I got back to the room with my sandwich and quickly realized that I needed to grab one of the extra towels from the bathroom to cover my dress pants. The meat is sliced paper thin and is very tender, juicy and is bursting with a rich, robust savory flavor. It is served on a slightly crusty kaiser roll that does a good job sopping up the juices. Spreading a little fresh-ground horseradish on the sandwich and dipping it in the au jus just completes the experience. For those who know what I’m talking about, it is kind of like a Chicago-style Italian beef sandwich, but without the peppers and onions and served with horseradish instead.
