If you’ve never attended this parade you’re truly missing out on a community event. Parking is a breeze, and this year it was a flat rate $ 5.00 at the neighboring City Park Garages. The city even provided attendants’ to assist users with the centralized pay meters. If you’re a «Tech Head» and want it faster and easier when it comes to paying for your parking experience, then download the paybyphone app and completely bypass the lines. I’m predicting that the Chamber of Commerce slipped Mother Nature a check because the weather was near perfect, sunny with a light breeze. The day started with the Mayor’s welcome followed by an Irish blessing. The parade festivities got underway with the Leprechaun Leap Run up Las Olas. Between the SWAT vehicles, classic cars, horses and camels, this parade offers something for everyone to look at. Most every local High School marched, and there were enough Pipe & Drums corps to fill your Irish musical desires till late next month. Once the parade ends it time to head to Huizenga Plaza… and here’s a tip… take your time because the park is going to be packed… think 10lbs of fertilizer in a 5lb bag… but it will thin out. As your saunter down Las Olas you’re going to get thirsty so stop in at any of the«Refreshment Tents» and grab a Jameson or Guinness, because it is after 12:00pm.
