We came here last night to celebrate Valentine’s Day. We could not have had a better experience! Upon arrival we were offered a table I was not happy with and they without any issue moved us, even though they had full reservations, which I really appreciated. The service was incredible and the food was even better. They start off giving you some tomato and onion focaccia. This melts in your mouth and is so full of flavor. We ordered the farro salad to start and share. It was such a surprisingly good combination of flavors and so fresh! We each got a glass of wine, both were so good. They have an amazing wine selection and each meal item comes with a wine pairing suggestion as well. I ordered the gnocchi with pear and nutmeg in a cream sauce and it was phenomenal, not too sweet, great portion and I’m still thinking about it. My bf had the braised short rib with sundried tomato polenta. The meat was falling off the bone it was so soft and the flavors were incredible! We finished the the special of the night the chocolate surprise for Valentine’s Day, a huge chocolate shell, that hot fudge was poured over to melt and display a beautiful red velvet mouse cake, wish I took a picture but we devoured it too quickly! Overall, this was such a romantic and perfect dinner and I can’t wait to come back again! What a treat!

The food is exceptional and delicious. Everything is homemade. However, it took 1 hour and 20 minutes to get our entrees. There was only one waiter in a full restaurant who was run ragged. We waited 20 minutes for bread. The waiter tried very hard but was overwhelmed. They need more staff. The food is great though!

Great place! Small. We got lucky on a Monday night. All to ourselves. Soft music. Great food. Crabcake was amazing. My other half loved the wine. I can’t tell the difference so my opinion on that means nothing. The bill impressed me the most! Lol. Great staff. They let me watch Chef Sam cook. Fantastic experience. Great spot for any occasion. We are going back!

Small intimate setting family owned establishment. Beer/wine only nice selection. Home made focccia was delicious. I had the crab cake appetizer served with avocado and a gazpacho sauce. Great mix of favors, my friend had a delicious salad with romaine and spiced pecans and apples-a good balance of spicy and sweet. My main course veal chop was cooked to perfection accompanied with a delicious mushroom risotto. My also had the beef short rib with a polenta sauce. The beef was tender and delicious. Everything we ate was fresh and cooked to order. Service was first class. This is a restaurant that should be on everyone’s must list. We will be back! As good or better than any of the top tier restaurants in South Florida.

My husband and I dines at Piccolo for the first time last night. It was wonderful. We had the Antipasto for an appetizer. The meats and cheeses were freshly cut and shaved. It was both beautiful and delicious. For the main course I had the Crab encrusted Dolphin over spinach and my husband had the Veal Chop. They were both cooked and seasoned perfectly. Yum! The wait staff was very friendly.

I’ve heard of this restaurant before but hadn’t been here before. I’m glad we came tonight. The place is small and intimate. It’s quiet and dim lit, perfect for a date. The homemade focaccia bread is to die for! We had the meatballs and the eggplant for appetizers and couldn’t have asked for a better start. For entrée I had the crab encrusted Mahi Mahi with spinach and tomatoes. It was perfect. My husband had the filet mignon special and it was superb. To finish we had the carrot cake! I could eat here everyday! The owners were very graceful and their service 2nd to none.

I was anxious to try Piccolo so when my anniversary came up, I made a reservation. Situated in a strip plaza off Commercial Blvd. and Bayview, it’s very unassuming. When we arrived, we were seated at a 2 top near the front. While small, it was romantic and cozy. The only thing that was not romantic/cozy were the patrons seated next to us– a trio of older women, 50s+. One of the women kept asking her fellow diners, «does he love Jesus?» «is he single?» and«does he have a relationship with God?» no less than 6 times. While I, of all people can appreciate a lonely, single woman, this was quite annoying and it became evident why she was single. Join already! On to our dinner, we started with the Farro salad. Jeremy C. never had Farro before so it was a good time to try it. We also ordered the eggplant appetizer. The salad was billed as mixed greens, farro, cucumber, tomato, onion, and mozzarella cheese. The salad was delicious– the veggies were cut with precision, the balsamic dressing was amazing, but my only criticism was the mozzarella got a little lost because it too was cut the size of veggies so I didn’t really taste it. The eggplant dish was also excellent. They sliced the eggplant super thin like my grandma makes and the sauce and cheese were still bubbling when it was brought to the table– that’s fresh! We ordered a bottle of Chianti and Alison recommended a bottle, which was very good. We sipped on that and enjoyed the foccacia bread topped with tomato and onion that was also very hot/fresh. I also noticed I was hot and only had 1 glass of wine. Jeremy said maybe I was too close to the window but I felt very flushed. I wanted to pour the water over my head but that would probably look funny so I gulped that down, which provided temporary relief. A short while later we felt the air kick on and I was relieved. We were pretty full at this point but then ordered the Parmesan Crusted Chicken to share. Alison advised us it would take 20 – 25 minutes, which was fine, as we weren’t in any rush. We chatted, smiled, reminisced, and over heard more Jesus talk and giggled. Italian favorites played in the background and I enjoyed hearing the Tarantella and Sinatra. It reminded me of my grandparents. Our chicken arrived and it was more than enough to share. It was accompanied by grilled veggies. Presentation was lovely and the sauce it came with was divine. We polished off our bottle of wine and unfortunately we were too full to order dessert. I was also very hot. The wine? The window? The ac? Or maybe a combination of the above. The service was excellent. The quality of the food was wonderful and left you wanting more. I would definitely recommend Piccolo.

Whether it’s date-night or gathering around a table with friends, Piccolo’s is about the dining experience. Owners Andres and Alison understand that food is meant to be savored and enjoyed. Most restaurants have you in and out for The sake of producing high volume with mediocre food at best. I value Piccolo’s personalized attention from when they greet you at the door until the time you depart. They made me feel special and I was almost sad to leave. The menu and pricing reflect quality and«you get what you pay for» and for Picciolo’s, it’s an entire package of superior food and personal service.

Puccolo is a favorite, and we’ve been probably close to a dozen times. The food is consistent… whether trying something new or sticking with a favorite(bolognese!). Service is wonderful… attentive without being overbearing. Great little restaurant we will continue to visit!

Had dinner here recently… Very small place with a family type feel. The focaccia bread on the table was great! Salad was nice too. I loved the gnocchi with cheese sauce/poached pears/nutmeg. Very rich, just the right portion. The cheesecake is described as Italian ricotta, but I felt it tasted a bit more like cream cheese cake if that’s your thing. Be prepared to take your time eating, it moves a bit slow, but in a good way.

This place is amazing… the food and the service! I made my reservation on and they had our table ready for us. We were the only table in the restaurant for the first ½ hour and then at 7pm another table came in. The service was great. Alison was the best waitress I have had in years. It is how service should always be! The server knew all about the food and described her favorite dishes. The menu has the food paired with wine. She brought us out fresh baked focaccia bread that was delicious. They also have balsamic and olive oil to dip your bread, however the bread didn’t need it! The bread was topped with tomatoes and onions. We went on Monday night for ½ price appetizers all night. I ordered the meatballs and the eggplant. Both were amazing, especially for ½ price. The meatballs come in an order of two. They were about 3 inches in diameter. They were served with ricotta and covered in fresh marinara. The meatball is a combo of 4 meats, including a sausage with a little spice. The eggplant was breaded and fried. It was topped with marinara and melted mozzarella. The marinara sauce is so fresh and delicious. The server always had our water glasses filled without asking. She cleared plates promptly and checked on our food once delivered. This is a small place, great music, and beautiful ambiance. It was surprising it wasn’t packed. The menu also had gnocchi and risotto on the menu, which is unique to find. There is free parking in front of the restaurant. Some spots are metered, but just park in a non metered spot. I would definetly return to Piccolo.

This little family restaurant(Chef Andres and his wife Alison, Front of House, along with Alison’s brother Josiah as General manager and our waiter for the evening) is a gem hidden in the storefronts along Commercial Street. Nothing about the exterior will excite you, but if you’re all about carefully prepared meals with big flavors, you’ll want to try Piccolo. The interior of this little storefront has been converted to a dark, cozy dining spot with an open kitchen format, which offers a nice view of the chef at work, and even better some preview scents of the meals being prepared. This is a beer & wine establishment, and we opened our meal with a complimentary(nice Unilocal offer, Alison!) glass of Chianti Classico and Malbec to prepare our palates. A very simple take on a classic caesar salad followed, with nice shavings of parmesano reggiano and a well executed dressing. Then the fun began — we split the meatball appetizer, and they were fantastic. Made with beef, pork, lamb and hot italian sausage meet, they were moist and flavorful, and accompanied by a rich marinara. Hard to get get excited over a couple of meatballs, right? Not when they are as well executed as these. We followed the appetizers with a dish of garlic shrimp over squid ink pasta a seared veal chop with wild mushroom risotto. The shrimp were perfectly seasoned with just the right touch of garlic, a light simple dish that just tasted great. The only suggested improvement we could offer would be homemade pasta on this one. The veal chop — an enormous, two-inch thick slab on the bone — was seared to a perfect medium rare with beautiful carmelization, simply seasoned with salt, pepper & olive oil and was fantastic. Any carnivore’s mouth would have been watering at this presentation. And the wild mushroom risotto was done beautifully, with deep earthy flavor from the mushrooms permeating the rice. That should have been enough, but given the performance thus far, we felt compelled to try Chef Andres’ dessert skills as well(tough duty, but I wanted to offer you a complete review). We had the homemade limoncello sorbet and the chocolate crème brûlée. The limoncello sorbet was perfectly flavored, and served in a homemade almond cookie basket/bowl, which we devoured to the last crumb… delicious. And the crème brûlée? Ordered almost as an afterthought — i’ve eaten more than my share of crème brulees in my time, and had no expectation of being surprised — it was the richest, most flavorful crème brûlée I’ve ever had. The perfect coda to an evening in which every facet of this restaurant exceeded our expectations — what a pleasant surprise. Open seven months, Piccolo is one young familiy’s bid to carve out their place in a very busy restaurant market — give them a try and I think they’ll make a customer out of you.

Pasta e Vino is gone and a new restaurant, Piccolo’s has taken its place. Since I’ve been to both, I couldn’t help but initially think in terms of comparisons but there was nothing to compare. Piccolo’s is vastly superior to the former Pasta e Vino in every facet from service, décor, general ambiance and most clearly to the quality and taste of the food. Though I had predetermined that I would have their menu item of grilled veal chop with white truffle porcini risotto in advance I quickly change my mind when the waiter advised me that the special for the evening was a duck breast which I ordered medium rare along with a Caesar salad. To my surprise, my Caesar was served as two good whole trimmed stock of romaine instead of being torn. Though I initially had my doubts about that, I quickly discovered that not only was the dressing of exquisite taste, the romaine nice and crispy to the bite but that somehow the leafs, though in hunk form, seemed to have been properly coated with the dressing; all having a very good flavor. My entrée if duck came presented, nicely sliced and prepared exactly as ordered with the duck skin having a nice slightly charred flavor with complement the duck perfectly. As a side with it was an amazingly good pasta in a sort of ravioli form covered with a delicious creamy sauce along with a flavorful smattering of whole cranberry. I wish I would have asked more questions about it, but I didn’t. As the cranberry was so sweet, juicy and flavorful, I could have sworn that instead of cranberry it was sweet freshly made lingon, but since my waiter had never heard of ligonberry, I’m sure it wasn’t. I hope word gets out about Picollo’s very good, unique, exquisitely prepared foods because I arrived on a Tuesday night at about 6:30, was there until around 7:30, and was the only patron they had.
