Hidden gem is right! Cute little dinner in the store. Looks like it’s for locals and mall employees but the service was incredible and the food was fresh! Delish!

This place is a complete gem. The food was fresh and perfectly prepared and presented. The main selling point was the service. The staff went the extra mile to provide an exceptional experience. Definitely coming back.

Boy did we luck out. We were looking into going to a place in the galleria and it ended up being closed for lunch. I pulled out the Unilocal app to see about other places and came across this one with 4+ stars. My girlfriend had the fish tacos and I had the grilled cheese plate. I had it the old fashioned way as opposed to the menu one at the suggestion of Jonathon. It came with tomato soup. I have to admit that it was one of the best grilled cheese and soup combos I can remember. The fish tacos were some of the best my girlfriend has had. The only thing better than the food was the service. Jonathon was one of the best servers I have had, good natured friendly and very attentive. I strongly suggest if you are in NM and hungry, you stop by!

I’ve been here many times since my last review, and always enjoy the tasty food and pleasant service. I especially appreciate Jonathan’s cheerful demeanor and professionalism. He could make a fortune as waiter at a ritzy restaurant.

If you are shopping and start feeling hungry, tired, or just in the mood for a great environment then you have got to find this place. Unfortunately, you would never know it existed unless someone told you or you saw the Unilocal reviews(how I found it). My girlfriend and I stopped in for lunch when the food court was closed for remodeling. Sitting down is like stepping back in time to the heyday of department stores. The wait staff is super friendly, the food is delicious, the coffee is fresh and excellent, their popovers are to die for, and they have refreshing alcoholic beverages available too. I definitely recommend a visit to this unique bar tucked back inside the mall.

Had a great lunch at the Mermaid bar. The food was unexpectedly delicious. I didn’t know about this secret treasure. Jonathan, our wAiter is 5 stars plus. He is worth the price of the meal alone. A better server I’ve never encountered . Annabella, restaurant manager is attentive, kind, and runs a great bar and emporium. Definitely now on my list of things to do in Ft Lauderdale.

Ok. I love fish tacos. They are my favorite. The fish tacos here are yummy!!! Possibly, yes the best I’ve had. Service A+ Food A Atmosphere B(small. Loud) They went above & beyond to make my daughter happy by finding a piece of what we thought was sold out cake. The manager rushed to the back & found one last piece. My daughter was delighted!!! What a perfect experience.

Unilocal did not guide me wrong with this… It’s on the second floor of Neiman Marcus straight ahead from the escalator. You have try a pop-over with the strawberry butter! It’s the best ever. The menu is pretty simple but it’s a good simple. I recommend the tomato bisque soup which is awesome. The spiced ice tea they have is great. I pretty much have not had a bad meal there. It can get busy real quick. Most of the seating is at the counter but they have a couple tables. I always try to get William to serve me because he is the best and knows me by now. If you are at the mall and do not want a lot of noise come there, eat and relax a bit.

Tucked into the second floor of Neiman Marcus is the best kept secret of Galleria Mall. While out on maternity leave I decided to have a lunch date with my new baby and did a quick Unilocal search for a new place to visit. After reading the glowing reviews for this place I decided to give it a try. Although this place has a couple of tables, seating mostly consists of a large counter. So I wouldn’t recommend this place if you have a group larger than 3 – 4 people. When I got there at 1:30pm the place was packed. I had to wait 20 min for a counter seat. But once seated the service was fast and the staff friendly. It seems there are a lot of ‘regulars’; mostly retired folks that lunch here every week. The staff knew many of these regulars by name. I guess that’s a good sign, since they keep coming back. The menu is mostly salads and sandwiches. They also have a nice wine selection. I ordered a roast beef panini that was delicious. And the soup of the day(tomato bisque) was wonderful. Great coffee too. I will definitely try to come back if I have a week day off. I would imagine this place is jammed on weekends.

Had me the fish tacos. Excellently prepared and flavorful!(Surprisingly, since this is a department store!) A gratis pull-apart bread came as an appetizer, which was hot and tasty. The waiter treated us like we were friends. Service is very personalized to it’s discerning customers! Definitely will return real soon!!!

Great service for a little café, tasty items even though my chicken sandwich was a bit dry, they gave us complementary popovers with strawberry butter, what? Exactly, yummy. Not a lot of people know about this little place, and for a good reason. Their soups are yummy too!

Hidden little gems are rarely hidden, but his one located on the second floor of Neiman Marcus store in the Galleria Mall seems to be, or as some say one of the best kept secrets of the Mall goers. You just take the escalator to the second floor and walk straight forward to get to it. They have a daily soup, a great tomato bisque, a good selection of sandwiches priced around $ 11 and salads varying between $ 16.50 for those containing shrimp or salmon down to around $ 11.50 for chicken. It might be a tad on the pricier side, as is any Neiman Marcus store, but worth it to escape the«hog troth» dinning experience of the Galleria Food Court. At least here you have some semblance of a relaxing atmosphere conducive to uninterrupted conversation, plus the fact that the food is rather good and the service exceptionally competent, friendly and polite. Contrary to what the name would indicate with the use of the word«bar,» it is in fact just a little sandwich, soup, salad and dessert type of little bistro.

Small space that can get crowded. Food though was excellent. Loved the tomatoe bisque and my turkey and brie sandwich. My wife loved her salad. The popovers are free and delicious with the strawberry butter. Our waiter managed to somehow be attentive despite having to serve a bunch of people at the same time in a small space — well done. Recommend highly for lunch.

Spending the day shopping at Galleria you must stop in and check out The Mermaid Café in Neiman Marcus! It’s hidden away on the second floor near gift section and is a perfect stop for a lunch break during a busy day of shopping. My boss introduced this place to me and we love escaping the office to grab a bite here. This quaint diner has limited table seating although personally, I like the seats at the counter which has an old-fashioned feel. The menu is limited but I always find something I want they have soups, salads or delicious sandwiches. While you wait for your food the waiter brings over huge popovers that are hot and served with a fruit butter. I cannot seem to resist the ham and brie sandwich(although I get with turkey) they grill it and it comes hot and mouth watering with a tasty side salad. My co-workers were jealous when they saw what I got, it looked amazing and tasted just as good. The portions were more then generous and I always have leftovers for later. I would go here any day over the food court in galleria!

Delicious Bistro Salad! This is a serene little nice hideaway in Neiman’s especially for the girl’s to relax, eat and chat. Went here a few days before Christmas with my sister in law and met up with her girlfriends. We all started off with the tomato bisque which was really fresh and yummy. Next came the large popovers with a fruit butter. They were large but light and had unique shapes which we joked about. The real wow to my lunch was the Bistro salad. Spinach with an amazing round of goat cheese in the middle which delicately breaks open with your fork and falls amongst the pecans and cranberries. The salad dressing had an artisan style — perfect harmony! The male waiter was spot on. This is a small dining place not your big wow factor urban eaterier but my experience was a 5 here.

This is one of the best places to eat in the world, not just the US. The grilled cheese is a staple item there and can’t get any better. Avocados AVOCADOS! Love them and plenty options with them there. Their pop-overs are yumm with the strawberry butter but to get those you have to go early in the day, once they are gone they are gone. Everything there is good. The shrimp and avocado salad is fabulous. Their soups are very good too. Their bakery is made fresh there. The chocolate cake is the one thing I have been eating since I was a kid(33 now). Can’t have it without ice cream. No other cake in the world has been able to top this piece of cake you will have. It is pure heaven. Uploaded photos of it, the icing alone is a work of art. They only take American Express so if you do not dine on that card, bring cash. Also the title is wrong. It is not the Little Mermaid Bar just The Mermaid Bar.

I have never purchased a single thing from Neiman Marcus, but boy do I like dining there. I’ve eaten at Mariposa in Coral Gables, so I decided to give the Mermaid Bar in the Fort Lauderdale store a try. It’s hidden upstairs in the back of the gifts section, and it’s not advertised at all. This is quite a nice, quick place to grab a bit to eat to take a break from shopping. This particular Neiman Marcus restaurant is quite small — most of the seats are at the counter. There are a few tables, but we arrived around 5 pm and they close at 6, so the section with the tables was closed. We grabbed two chairs at the counter and glanced at our menus. The selection is rather small, but there are quite a few great items to choose from(the menu is on the restaurant’s website). My mom opted for a cup of the tomato bisque and the hot open-faced roast beef sandwich special, while I was stuck between the orange soufflé(which comes with their chicken salad) or a club sandwich. I asked our waiter which he suggested, and he quickly and emphatically suggested the club. While waiting, I nibbled at the crackers they have placed on the counter, but they were all stale. I expected better of this place. But the stale crackers were quickly forgotten once our meals arrived. My club sandwich came on toasted wheat bread and with very crisp bacon(no chewy, cold bacon here — it totally made the sandwich). It was so good that my mom begged me for a quarter of my sandwich(I gave in, but only because I was too full to finish it). She enjoyed her roast beef, but liked mine better. We were too full for dessert, but bought two cookies(which were quite big!) to go. The total bill was $ 33(without tip). That’s about what I had paid in Coral Gables, except there I got more attentive service and those fabulous popovers. So since there were no popovers to be had here, I’m taking off a star.
