This used to be a really nice and busy restaurant. I went their last night and their business was way down and the place was dirty. Sticky tables and silverware. I had to ask for another knife that was under my chicken. The waitress never smiled and looked like she just hated being there. The manager came by and I pointed the dusty fixtures like the dirty mirror ball hanging from the sealing and she agreed and turned the light off on it. My guess this place will be closed by the end of the Summer. A good place to avoid.

Rats! Blanca and I ate at Chammps in Ft Lauderdale tonight, and after eating and paying, a rat runs by the table next to us. I calming get the manager, as Blanca remains on «rat duty». The manager has no sense of urgency and says, «Well, If I can can see it, maybe I can catch it». Blanca spotted a second one while I was getting the manager, all the while people are eating around us and are totally unaware of the situation. The managers solution: open a door so maybe they will run out. Yea. That’s it. No sweeping. No urgency. No «I’m sorry» or «thank you for not freaking out and screaming like a you just saw a rat, can we comp your meal?!». Nope. Just opened a door. Bartender poured us drinks(and sadly, B and I usually accept free drinks, because the bar is probably safe, right?!). So as we sit there, the manager comes back and asks if we saw the rats leave. I mean, we were watching. It was like dinner and a show… And show that was horrible but you couldn’t stop watching since the rats were somewhat dancing around. As we leave, we see another rat. A baby. This makes 3 rats in 15 minutes. In an open area. Filled with people. With a manager who couldn’t care less. Moral of the story: DON’T EATATCHAMMPSAMERICANAOFFOFCYPRESSCREEKANDANDREWSAVEINFTLAUDERDALEEVER! I mean, unless you want dinner and a show. And that’s disgusting! #chammps #chammpamericana #rats #dirtydining #nbc6 #wplg10

Not sure exactly why this is a place. Lol. Maybe its location makes it ideal for people on lunch breaks. It’s been around for a while, but I never see it very full. Food was really nothing exciting. Service was friendly but slow. Pricing is a bit higher than I’d like for the quality. All in all, I honestly won’t see myself coming back here for any reason.

This was my first time ordering lunch from this restaurant I ordered fresco chicken tacos and wanted to substitute queso instead of salsa I was told they can do that so I place my order when I went to pick it up I was surprised with that exorbitant check total. They charge me for a side of queso and chips with the price of $ 7.50 needless to say that was the last time I’ve ordered from there

Well I must start by saying the service was fantastic our waiter Sean was a nice upbeat outgoing guy. The food was all ok however we had a mouse in the Dining room. Ok things happen but the manager did not handle this well at all. She was more staunch about well there is construction in the area and we stated that the mouse jumped next to one of our friends at table and ran toward the other as to why the other table screamed and got up. Her reply was wow I didn’t know the could do acrobatic moves that’s a new one. Being that two in our party are restaurant professionals they both were just appalled at her reaction saying how unprofessional that was to say. Look things happen I get it but how you handle yourself in an awkward position that is surely stressful defines your position and being the top person at the restaurant you are held to a much higher standard than your staff. That was not shown tonight. I recommended champs cause I just was at the one in Houston last week and was great. An unfortunate incident but an even poorer response

Way better than their rating indicates, it’s a sports bar, with great salads, well priced, tuna appetizer was great, actually pleasantly surprised.

One of the only places open west of 95 late night, stopped by here with a friend after a longer day of work. Luckily after 10pm, drinks are all a $ 1 off, and most of the appetizers are $ 5. Unfortunately not any of the more expensive ones. We got the cookie dessert and some wine. The cookie was supposed to be warm… It wasn’t. Inexpensive wine is going to taste like inexpensive wine… All in all not bad to catch a quick bite and drink if not headed down to FTL. Service was great. I wish I could shoot out my server’s name, he was awesome. Overall, pretty average chain. Good when necessary. I would give it one thumb up!

This location was near our hotel so we thought we would try it out. It was late, the reviews were decent so we thought, why not. I would not visit here again. First, when we entered a waitress said someone will be with you in a moment. There were menus all over the counter and tables needing to be cleaned. About 10 minutes later someone came and answered the ringing phone before attending to us and the now forming line behind us. After seated it took dome time for the waitress to come. She got a part of our order wrong, never brought the steak sauce or water and I had to request my drink. She did not even realize we had stopped someone to get the missing items. The food was OK… a bit overpriced for the quality and taste, but the service made the overall experience bad

This is a nice sports bar in Fort Lauderdale plenty of big screen TVs and all your favorite sports are on at all times. They have great burgers and plenty of other good food. The waiters are friendly. The deserts are really good, you have to try the mile high ice cream pie it’s enough for four people.

Lunch portions available only Monday thru Friday. Smaller portions and cheaper sizes would be a nice option every day. Do people do not eat lunch on weekends?

I come from the north and«champps» there is quite a luxurious dining place. We decided to stroll on in here for some dinner on a late night. This champps is located near the house so I thought I haven’t been here why now we give it a twirl. When you walk in, the interior is a giant Square building, which all we could imagine used to be an old restaurant of some sort an or an old club. Not very sure though, it looks as though the restaurant bought the building and made it what they could. And sadly they missed the mark. The restaurant is surrounded by 90 inch giant tVs or larger on the walls there’s no intimacy at all to the restaurant, no booths. Just chairs everywhere in a bar to the side with a giant kitchen that takes up half the restaurant. The menu is a Hodge podge of anything and everything. Which normally would be quite nice with various options but this restaurant seems to have no identity at all. We simply ordered two turkey wraps which came with onion rings which I switched out since the side were chips of some sort, they were OK to say the least. The wrap was cold the turkey was not grills or heated it just with something but seem to be premade from Publix. The bill was quite pricey however the waitress was exceptional and it’s sad that her utilization of workmanship is not used elsewhere. Since this is my community restaurant I will continue to support them but I hope to see changes in the future.

I don’t get the less than *** review average. Granted Champps is not a great restaurant or a great bar — it is a sports bar, and the atmosphere seemed just that. Sat at the bar & bartender was on top of things — made my mixed drinks just how I asked, and quickly. Place was not crowded and I never felt that common rush from a crowded sports bar joint. Food was bar food but I admit that I ordered a less-than-standard bar food — rosemary chicken(yes, I am on a diet), which I enjoyed. Well prepared — not a rubber chicken breast, which, admittedly, I kind of expected. Can’t speak for the real bar foods like wings and nachos. Have business in the area so I’ll be back and give the wings a go.

I’ve been there twice recently. First experience was awful. Waited at the front for someone to acknowledge us for at least 10 minutes, finally we got a table and service was slow food was just ok. Then I decided to try it again, this time I went and sat at the bar. The service and food was excellent this time but the bartenders lacked consistency in their drinks. Ordered 3 long islands myself and all 3 times they tasted and looked different.

I’m pretty sure if you were bored enough to make a statistical assessment of my reviews I am most reluctant to go below 3 stars for most venues; I know people’s jobs and livelihoods depend on the support and good buzz a Unilocal interview can generate. The only reason I would give less than 3 stars is simply because that’s what they deserve. In the case of this particular chain restaurant/sports bar one star is more than sufficient. I felt so bad for my companion who had talked up this place with her own cheerful discourse of what goodies Champps serves and what to expect and she lauded the happy hour enough that I was sure I would at least walk away with an inexpensive but pleasant buzz. Seeing as how I’m still wet behind the ears in Broward County it was refreshing to be close to my home but in a new northern neighborhood of Andrews and Cypress Creek. I felt the vibe was«Kendall North» — very suburban, sprawl, but new and dotted with glistening office parks that undoubtedly fed the multitude of chain restaurants and stores. Notice the plurality — Champps certainly has competition; I spotted a Long Horn Steakhouse, a Hooters and I’m sure there has to be a few more. So imagine my surprise when our waitress told us that one of their signature appetizers that are all $ 5 during happy hour, was available, but only at the regular price. Yep, the chicken quesadillas were $ 12. And two for ones? Oh hell to the no… just a dollar off certain beers, wines and alcoholic beverages. Really? That’s how you compete on a happy hour? Still I kept an open mind, we ordered and I was truly entertained meeting new co-workers, albeit one of the nicest ones was celebrating his move to Colorado(it was a going away party) so that’s sad not to get to know such a nice gentleman more — but meeting the others was certainly enjoyable. Champps appears to be the kind of place where you would expect large groups for happy hours, and it is certainly spacious. But for all that space, ours was the largest group with around 10 people at its height, and their policy doesn’t allow for tables to be put together. So a split group made it more difficult to meet new people since people obviously flock to their friends and cliques, so I found that off putting. Service was amiable, but slow(why, the place was certainly not crowded and the wait staff was abundant) and requests for simple items, such as ice water had to be repeated more than once. Drinks were what you’d expect at any bar, just a dollar off and nothing special or stand out. You may pay more for one of my favorites, The Royal Pig, but goodness knows the mugs are nothing short of Henry VIII goblets that truly quench your thirst. My highball glass of beer was gone in three swigs and you can readily guess it took a while for that to be refilled; in fact to give you an idea, by the time I got my third beer everyone was leaving. And food? Honey Chili’s, Applebee’s and Friday’s ain’t got nothing to fear from you — and you are no champ(think chump) in this department Champps. The regular(over) priced quesadillas were cheese flavored cardboard with chicken I’d expect in a high school cafeteria for all its dryness and the fixin’s were really spoonfuls of guacamole and sour cream that could cover two pieces of the tortillas at best. My friend ordered a margherita flatbread and I regret she looked so crestfallen when she asked me how I liked it and I replied«it’s awful.» I’ve had tastier toppings on matzah crackers at a seder. The potato skins were … OK … but speaking of Fridays, I think I purchased a box of their signature frozen potato skins they now sell at grocery stores and they were pretty much identical. I liked the Cypress Creek neighborhood but I won’t be going back too soon, and to one certain venue, ever again.

Came by here for lunch last Saturday before furniture shopping. I used to come by here for lunch long times ago when I used to work by the Executive Airport. What I remembered from my visits back then, the food were pretty good. So was the service. So we drove up in the parking lot, and its almost empty. Almost like a ghost town. But that can’t be it right? Its almost noon and this place should be open for business. Unless the business has since closed? Well, we opened the doors and they weren’t locked. That’s a good sign. We told the guy at the front desk we wanted to sit at the bar and walked straight there. There were nobody at the bar, and maybe two desks with people in the entire restaurant! So empty that you can almost hear the echo when you speak. We proceeded to the bar and the bartender gave us the menu. I was not very impressed with their limited selection on appetizers. Wanted to order a draft beer and only has a few to pick from. I ordered their wings but it was pretty dry, although the flavor was not bad. My wife ordered the flat bread and it almost had no flavors. But thank God the salt shaker saved the day. Will I go back? Probably not since there are lots more sports bars in the neighborhood to choose from. Maybe this place does better business at nights, but I guess I’ll never find out.

Went on a Sunday afternoon for a bite to eat of some comfort food(I was hungover), don’t judge me!!! For an appetizer I got the loaded waffle fries, they took a while to come out, but were quite delicious. After about 5 – 6 minutes of getting my waffle fries I noticed my chicken sandwich was sitting under the heat lamp. It remained there for about 10 minutes till my girlfriends chicken sandwich was finished and then they brought the food over. My girlfriends Parmesan crusted chicken sandwich was tasty and fresh, but my sandwich was a bit dry from the heat lamp. Not too bad, not good either.

Champps is right near where I work, so I have been on a few occasions, mostly lunches, but also a happy hour or two. It is a good option for larger groups as their menu has something for everyone. I haven’t had great things to say about their happy hour in the past, and I think the food specials are better than the drink specials, but I haven’t been in awhile, and I would like to give it another try on a Friday when it runs into trivia as well. This lunch trip I had no idea what I wanted, I was jumping back and forth on the menu between pastas, and salads, and sandwiches, but eventually I settled on the turkey wrap which had bacon and avocado. I liked that I could chose any side I wanted from their fairly wide selection and didn’t just have to stick with fries. I went with the minestrone soup and was surprised by how many vegetables it had and how fresh they tasted. It was a very hearty minestrone and I kind of found myself wishing there was more broth, but I would get it again. The turkey wrap was about average, nothing special, but not bad either, and I can be very picky about my turkey wraps. I was impressed that the waitress got all our orders correct without having to write anything down, and she was very friendly, but as lunch got busier we saw her a little less and the check took a bit. To be fair there was some sort of power outage during our visit so this may have slowed things down a little too.

Chammps is close to where I work and therefore is in our lunch rotation as well as happy hour. None of us are crazy about the happy hour deals, but there are some good lunch specials, on top of having a pretty large menu. On this particular visit I was craving a salad with goat cheese and Chammps popped in to my head. Turns out they have salads with lots of different cheeses, none of which are goat lol. After we were sat at a high top table drinks and food were ordered. Since goat cheese wasn’t an option I went with the Americana salad with pecans, apples, blue cheese and subbed out the chicken for salmon for $ 2 more. The food did take a bit to come out, but while we were there a huge storm rolled in and the power actually went out for about a minute. This probably lead to the kitchen falling behind so I won’t fault them for that. My salad was pretty good, and huge, albeit nothing outstanding, but something I’d order again. The reason for the 3 stars is mostly due to service. The place gets packed for lunch, so our server took a while to get us refills, bring the check, run the check etc. I’d usually give her a bit of a pass seeing how swamped she was, but the management is most likely to blame here. They know they see a lot of lunch traffic and it didn’t seem as though they had enough servers to handle it all. Total time for lunch was over an hour which is a bit long for a work lunch, especially considering it wasn’t a Friday.

We came to Champps for a little Happy Hour get together with a few of my boyfriend’s coworkers. We were able to get a nice big table to fit the whole group. We all ordered different drinks and beer. The waitress was not only helpful for getting all our orders in, but she helped split the tab ahead of time. Made it really easy to have a group get together. I ordered two drinks here, the Cucumber Melon Mojito and the White Sangria. Both refreshing and made with fresh fruit and cucumbers. I enjoyed both drinks, but didn’t order any food. The Seared Ahi Tuna Appetizer and Salmon Salad looked pretty good.

I’ve been working in the neighborhood for well over 17 years, and have visited this place often. Sometimes, we’ll do happy hour, while other times we’ll hit this place up at lunchtime. I would recommend a later lunch as this place will become jam-packed at around noon, and begins to clear out after 1:00 p.m. during the work week. I would also recommend staying away from the hamburger. Very little flavor. On my most recent visit, I ordered two things. The French Dip never disappoints. Very good. Make sure to request some horseradish sauce on the side. It’s creamy and delicious. I also ordered an appetizer, the three-layer hummus with crispy pita slices. Very tasty. This place has been around since as long as I can remember, and is a good place to meet up with friends and family. You’ll always find a good seat. Good place to watch the game, too.
