Superb! We walked in on a Friday night and were sat immediately. The complimentary starter dish had 3 different delicious tasters. The ambitious was beautiful. We sat in a private type room near the front of the building, which offered semi-privacy and a more intimate dining experience. The wine bottle room looked fabulous too, and I will request seating in there next time. Our waiter, Gus, did not rush us. Everything was timed perfectly. We had 3 starter dishes including the cheese and meats, homemade meatballs and sausage, and rigatoni. These were cooked to perfection and were above and beyond all my expectations. I had the Lamb as my main course.(I had never had lamb in the past) However, I thought this dish was flavorful and the sauce could not have been more perfectly matched. The wine selection was broad, and when I asked my waiter to decant the wine, there was no hesitation. The chef even took the time to come introduce himself to our table and ask if we needed anything. This restaurant and experience exceeded my expectations, and I will definitely be going there in the future and cannot wait until my visit.

My go to place whenever I am in Fort Lauderdale. I love this place, and highly recommend t to anyone looking for a warm, classy place with delicious food, beautiful décor, and wonderful service. I’ve been there multiple times and have never been let down. I have not found a restaurant I like better in Fort Lauderdale, and for that matter, ranks right up there with my favorite NY restaurants. hmmm Casa would be a nice addition to the upper west side :-) Did I mention the encyclopedic wine list? Go!

I had dined here with my family and parents friends. This is an over due review but here it goes. I had the truffle rissoto , we had a bottle of the cabernet, seared snapper and octopus. Everything was fresh medium portioned and delicious. I do not recall the dessert but we did pay over $ 200.

Took my fiancé here for her 30th birthday based on their reputation. I’d heard nothing but good things going in but I have to say this place is definitely on the skip list. Her lasagnette was above average for a restaurant but still a far cry from what authentic Italian means to me. My penne and chicken was okay at best. Both parts were overcooked and no amount of oil can save tough pasta and chicken. I guess I should have tried the veal. Service was really hit and miss as well. For a Saturday night with reservations I expect to see a place’s A game, but what I witnessed was the stumbling bufoonery of bench warmers. Our table was in a nice cozy corner between three loud mouthed tables and the charming fire exit. Food B Service C Atmosphere C There are many better options in the price range.

Thank you for making my birthday dinner a disaster ! First, we arrive on time and of coarse our table is not ready so the girl suggests we go to the 6 seat bar that is already packed with people waiting. I looked at her like you crazy I am 8 months pregnant I am not going to the bar ! So, we wait and wait about 15 minutes after our reservation standing right in front of the hostess stand so they know I want to sit asap.
Next, the waitress comes over quickly to take our order and my husband ordered an appetizer that comes right away that they push their shaved truffles so it ended up being $ 32 for carpaccio. I am starving at this point the platter they bring of the bread, cheese, and olives the bread just taste cold and as if it were not as fresh as it should be. So 8:30 was our reservation and at 9:05 the appetizer arrives. At 9:20 the waitress brings a side bowl for my husband’s shellfish so I am thinking the food it coming soon right??? No, not even close I am waiting and waiting they see I am pissed and my mood is slowly changing at 9:47 our food arrives 1 hour after we placed the order. I was so pissed and it wasn’t even good. I think someone forgot to put sauce on my husbands pasta with lobster and seafood the pasta was white(boxed pasta) for $ 48 ! WE literally asked for the check even though it was my birthday and my husband wanted to get me a cake with a candle. The waitress saw I was pissed and brought out a complimentary chocolate cake, but I don’t even eat chocolate. The meal was a disaster from the service, to the food. It was really nice(sarcastically speaking) the owner/chef came to the table to ask how everything was. My response” «everything was terrible». FYI do not over book that you cannot execute food properly. People playing over $ 100 pp deserve proper service. Plus on a side note the average age was 85 it was like they have an over 80 + discount !!! Not the best atmosphere for someone in their 30’s. Head over to Las Olas next time or the other 10 Italian restaurants in the area with higher Unilocal rating. PS: If they have the Frutti Di Mare special in Lawerence’s review looked nothing like the one my husband received that one actually has sauce with tomatoes his was dry as a bone ! Just terrible !

Absolutely exceptional service and food. The food is fresh and as authentic as mama would make it. The ravioli, pasta, veal, olives, the whole menu is just amazing! This is the best Italian restaurant and you can tell by the staff that have been there for years that they are proud of what they serve. A must try for those that want a consistent great meal.

After much reading I chose Casa D’Angelo to take my son for his 30th birthday weekend celebration in Fort Lauderdale. I made sure to make my reservation a month in advance as I’d read it was a very popular restaurant. The reviews were good and since we love Italian we thought it would be a good choice. When we arrived the restaurant was nearly empty-not surprising as we had a 6pm reservation. There was nothing warm and inviting from the entry staff, just a little whisper and off we went to what is considered the worst table in a restaurant. By the wait staff area. This was rather surprising since we had a reservation and there were only 4 in our group and the restaurant was practically empty. Seeing the table I made a point to sit my family in a position so my husband wouldn’t be looking at the wait staff and my son could look out to other areas in the back room. The server was prompt and took our drink orders and brought us a nice dish with bruschetta, olives, cheese and flatbread. My husbands prawn appetizer was excellent. I chose the buffalo mozzarella appetizer. The mozzarella was ok but not as good as what we’d had the night prior at the Hilton hotel. The calamari was also better at the Hilton. For main course we chose the veal chop, veal milanese, orecchiette, and a seafood pasta special. Entrees were fairly good although the sauces were somewhat lacking in flavor. We opted against dessert as we had had enough of watching and listening to the wait staff. Would we return or recommend? No. There are so many other great restaurants in Fort Lauderdale — of which we found after our experience at Casa D’Angelo. As for where we were seated, I could understand if we were a walk in and there were no other tables available. But to be placed in the back room, with a family that had a baby next to us left us feeling that this restaurant caters to a select clientele and we weren’t a part of that group. Very disappointing.

Dined here for dinner on New Years Day while«staycationing» in Ft Lauderdale beach. The atmosphere is very pretty and there are several rooms — it seems a more formal dining room(where we were seated), a dining room just outside of the open kitchen and then al fresco dining in front of the restaurant(which is a pretty, more casual option). We were promptly greeted by our server who offered us cocktails and water service. There was a lady who brought us a little antipasto dish with bruschetta, olives and parmigiano reggiano. Once we were half way through our cocktails our server went through the vast listing of specials for the evening. We opted to share a special appetizer which was a meatball and fennel sausage in tomato sauce served over roasted eggplant and peppers — this was really delicious — reminded me of Sunday dinner meatball and sausages that used to cook for hours on moms stove. For dinner, I opted for halibut which was served with 4 clams in a tomato broth with cherry tomatoes. It was good. It was served with the vegetable of the day and potatoes — I asked for double vegetables. Here’s the weird part –the vegetable was roasted beets. I happen to love beets but it certainly did not accompany well with a tomato based sauce. It was just odd. I don’t understand why you wouldn’t try to pair a more appropriate vegetable like spinach or broccoli or even green beans. The beets would’ve gone wonderfully with the short ribs that were on special or some type of brown sauced protein.(Sorry OK I’m done with the beets) My daughter had homemade spinach and ricotta ravioli in a vodka sauce which was delicious. Hubby ordered a home made pasta in a veal ragu. This looked like canned dog food over pasta. Not appetizing in the least. It tasted like a beef stew minus vegetables. It wasn’t even in a sauce — more like a soup. The pasta was homemade –it’s a shame. To sum it up — a few hits with a couple of misses. Not sure I would take the time to go again — maybe will try the Boca location — but that’s up the road from one of my favorite restaurants so I doubt it.

I was really impressed with this Italian restaurant, being an out of towner. The service was excellent and the ambiance was perfection. I was amazed when the waitress told us in detail all of the specials from memory. The olives, cheese and focaccia to start were great. They did not bring their other bread until we asked, so make sure you do. We dipped the bread in the sauce from the mussels we got. So yummy! I also recommend the eggplant appetizer. It’s like a little taste off eggplant parmesan. My boyfriend and I split the seafood pasta and being a lobster snob(I have family in Maine), I really enjoyed the lobster tail in the pasta. Finally, the dessert consisting of a cappuccino and chocolate cake ended the meal on a sweet note. I will be back for sure next time I’m in town!

WHATANAMAZINGMEAL! Incredibly nice restaurant with impeccable service and ambiance, although it does become a tad loud inside the dining area. I had the one of the specials of the night, Veal with truffle and mushroom. OUTSTANDING! Cooked to perfection with an amazing earthy and rich taste. Great place to go for special occasions and celebrations

Last night, my wife and I went out for our 5th wedding anniversary. We decided on Casa D’ Angelo’s for a gourmet Italian dining experience. We received that and so much more. We had a 6:30pm dinner reservation and were promptly seated upon our arrival. Upon being sat we were greeted by our server Edward H. Edward was polite, knowledgeable and provided exquisite recommendations based on our preferences. My wife is pregnant and therefore has certain eating restrictions. He catered his presentation of the menu to items that would be safe for her to eat. Edward was very attentive without hovering or being pushy. He always seemed to know the precise moment when we needed him. If you are looking for 5 star service, start with Edward. On to the main course. My wife had the Gnocchi Alla Mamma which is as the name would indicate is home made and cooked to perfection. The pasta is airy and flavorful. As my appetizer, I had a half order of the Fettucine Salate con Il Ragu di Vitello. Another home made pasta dish that was savory. For the main course Edward recommended a pork entrée that was on the list of specials. It was an excellent recommendation. Not something that you would be able to prepare at home or find on a typical menu. We finished the evening with one of their most popular desserts, the homemade vanilla gelato on top of warm chocolate cake. A lovely ending to a wonderful night. Looking forward to our next visit.

Went again last night as a group dinner guest. It was my third time here and I basically stand by my earlier review. The owner is such a nice guy and he truly tries hard. The dining experience, atmosphere and décor are all nice if your with friends. The food is unfortunately very bland. If you wish to call this Northern Italian flare food, I guess you might be right because I had a seafood dish over pasta. The pasta was dry with no sauce at all? I was truly amazed. All the seafood seems to be of the highest quality but BLAND and I mean really bland with no salt or pepper on the tables? No seasoning, no sauce, no flavor but the flavor of the seafood itself?(Some may like this?) In my opinion this is continental cuisine not Italian. Many in our group had the fish. It came in a very light cream sauce. I tasted it, and it was very nice for a mild, very delicate light dish. For those of you out there like me, who like red sauce of some kind and in some phase of your Italian meal, this may not be your place. Looking around our private room, I saw that I was the only one who asked for some pasta under my seafood,(because none was served with any dish offered) and as I said, it was served dry? Come on! A touch of olive oil, garlic, white wine and parsley would have at the least resembled an Italian seafood dish? I know so many people who love this place, and in some ways it’s understandable. They execute their bland food plan nicely. The place is pretty, and olives, cheese chunks and bread are a good start. If they only had real Italian food? The obvious lack of garlic, seasonings, and bold flavors in anything, seems intentional, so for those of you that like this type of well prepared, quality ingredients, continental, mildly northern Italian«un» seasoned cuisine, …enjoy. I’ll come back because the owner is such a nice guy, and has really high end ingredients, but it will have to be on someone else’s dime and I’ll have to get something that I feel can fall in line with their continental type cuisine in a light or no sauce situation. Pasta, I think not, maybe the grilled veal chop or some other item that they can do well. The place really deserves two stars but everything other than the actual taste of the food is good. Plating, temp. of food, etc. all good so I’m being generous. I can see the higher ratings and wonder what people are thinking. Although I really really dislike the arrogance of Café Marterano on Oakland Park Bl. the food(only food not the experience) at «café» is unmistakably Italian and way, way better. PS. My wife ordered a Diet Coke just before the dessert trays came out and never got it.

Silly me. I thought Ft. Lauderdale was filled only with drunken college students and cigar smoking ex-NYers in plaid Bermudas, long socks and sandals. Who knew it was home to a truly special Italian 5 star restaurant? We’d been living simply on Bimini for the last week sailing around every day looking for wild dolphins to swim with, doing spiritual exercises and eating well prepared healthy but basic foods at a very amazing place(viz. «Wildquest» in Bimini). On our way back into civilization and«the real world» we decided to treat ourselves to what we’d heard(through Unilocal:) was a really excellent Italian dinner. And indeed it was. With our Samadhi-reduced diets we decided to split everything, starting with the tuna tartare appetizer followed by a simple salad of fresh arugula, tomatoes, and grated parmesan cheese with just an olive oil and squeezed lemon dressing topped with a touch of cracked pepper. Next was probably one of the best pasta dishes I have had outside of Italy – a housemade fettucine with a bit of olive oil finished with shaved white truffles at the table. Spectacular; especially when we accompanied it with a bottle of Castelli dei Jesi Verdicchio Classico. As an entrée we split a serving of perfectly roasted sea bass with a garnish of charred artichokes and vine rippened tomatoes, and ended it all with a very good but-the-only-part-of-the-meal-that-wasn’t-5-stars tiramisu. In the end, the philosophical question that was posed was, «Is it better to live a simpler life, communing with the world in a natural environment filled with healthy food, loving people and amazing animals, or is it better to indulge in the most extravagant pleasures that sophisticated society can provide?» I leave it to you as the more objective observers to answer that question. All I know is that when you’re in Ft. Lauderdale looking for some excellent Italian food you really should pay a visit to Casa d’ Angelo’s. Sign me, Davide«Mangia Bene» M

Really tasty food here. Sam took me to Casa D’angelo for a very special birthday dinner. We came on a Sunday evening(the only day our very busy schedules would allow) so it wasn’t packed at all. We started our meal off with bruschetta, cheese and olives which were complimentary. I must say that the bruschetta was amazing!!! The olives were also delicious. I thought the cheese was just ok, but Sam loved it. For our appetizer we ordered calamari. They were delicious! Very tender and not too chewy. I especially loved that they had half a lemon for us with mesh wrapped around it so that we wouldn’t get seeds or pulp on the calamari. Very clever! The calamari was paired with a marinara sauce that I thought was good, but not really anything to write home about. I mainly just ate the calamari by itself. They also came with fried zucchini sticks. I personally hate zucchini so I didn’t really touch those. Sam liked them. For our entrees, Sam ordered the fettucini with veal ragu, and I got the pappardelle pasta with mushrooms. Both dishes were great! I think I may have liked Sam’s dish more than mine, but that was only because his came with meat and mine didn’t. I asked our waiter which dish he liked best and which dish he thought was most flavorful, so he pointed me in the direction of the pappardelle. Like I said, it was great, but I’m not sure it was what I wanted. After dinner of course we had to have dessert. This was the hardest decision for me because they have so many amazing sounding desserts. I usually order tiramisu at an Italian restaurant, but I decided to be different this time. Sam and I went for the apple tarte with cinnamon gelato. Man was it amazing! The gelato absolutely made it and the tarte was so flaky. I really enjoyed that dish. Overall we had a really nice experience at Casa D’angelo. My only complaint is that it took FOREVER for our waiter to come back with our check. By forever I mean at least 20 minutes. We were clearly done with our food. Sam and I were basically twiddling our thumbs patiently waiting. Sam finally got sick of waiting and asked another waiter if he could get ours because we were ready to go. It was very annoying sitting and waiting so long after having such a great experience.

I stopped by Casa D’Angelo which I’ve long considered to be one the shinning stars amongst the myriad of Italian restaurants only to discover that I had failed to review it. So, order to correct that oversight, I’ll just start right off by giving it Five Stars. I’ve eaten here a good number of times, and though I’ve had other of their menu items I’ve usually gone here for their veal chops, which as another Unilocaler has mentioned«reign supreme.» The veal chops I’ve had here are by far the biggest, always on the bone, juiciest of veal chops I’ve ever had in any restaurant regardless of price. Though priced at $ 46, still a bargain for what you get and in a cut of thickness difficult to find anywhere else or even to buy from a custom butcher shop. Every such chop I’ve ever had here has come perfectly prepared, exactly as ordered, enhance with mushroom and rosemary. Other bonuses of dining at Casa D’Angelo are access to its wine collection, one of the best in town, superior, totally professional service and one of the best of unique daily special offerings. On this visit I went for their daily special appetizer of tuna tartar which was served to me in good portion, top notch in freshness along with seasoning flavors. Though the patrons here are mostly dressed in casual attire, it’s of classy casual. However, I’d caution that the place seems to attract, as you might gather from some of the other reviews, a good number of «you could never please them» disdainful snoots. Indeed, the women seated next to me seemed to relish in complaining about everything and when tasting her several hundred dollar plus bottle of wine proclaimed it as being«boring.» At that I must have inadvertently made some facial expression because when she went to the bathroom the gentleman seated with her looked at me with a woeful expression, shook his head, and said«Try being married to it.»

We love this place as a family, and my parents are frequent flyers! Convenient free valet parking, beautiful outdoor seating and an even more beautiful inside with an open kitchen. What’s not to love! The wait staff is always friendly and accommodating, the only problem we have ever had was when the waitress claimed not to be able to split the check, but she was helpful when we used multiple credit cards instead. They start you off with complimentary green olives, Parmesan cheese, bruschetta, and garlic bread pizza for the table — first round is free, then refills will cost ya. The fried calamari is a great app, and the salads are all fresh, beautiful, and of course delish. You can see right into the brick pizza oven when you walk in, and though I haven’t tried the pizzas, they look ridiculously good. I will def have to try those next time. The pasta is awesome and a go-to for me, I especially love the pappardelle with lamb ragu(pictured below) and the garganelli alla vodka(they do it a little different by adding mushrooms, such a good move!) the orecchiette with broccoli rabe and homemade sausage is a close second. Most of the pasta is handmade there! They always have great specials and fish too, and my mom has loved those. Onto dessert! This is one of the few places I leave room for dessert, they’re all homemade and decadent. Molten chocolate cake, crisp apple tart with cinnamon ice cream, homemade fluffy ricotta cheesecake, the cannoli… you canNOT go wrong.

You get what you pay for in this high-end Italian gem. Everything we ordered was perfection and got the service of kings. Chicken parmigiana is not on the menu but can be made when requested. The veal parmigiana special was fantastic and I highly recommend it! Menu does not mention you can order a half order of their homemade pasta dishes but our waiter Luis did so we tried the gnocchi with fresh mozzarella and it delivered greatness as a side. Hope to come back here someday but not willing to get a second job just yet ;) Love you Casa d’Angelo!
