Love this place, our whole family does. Absolutely incredible food for brunch on Sunday’s — our best practice now. The chix and waffle are to die for, give it a try!

A friend suggested that I eat at the BC Café so when I was out in the Davie area I decided to give it a try. I was a little surprised to find it off the lobby of a rather nondescript office building on University Drive, just south of Griffin Road. It’s a little place and kind of hidden but there’s a lot of nearby parking. As you walk in you will notice that the menu is on the wall. You will not need your glasses to read it– it is rather large. You order your selection at the counter. The menu has quite a range for such a little place and prices are very reasonable. They seem to specialize in tacos, although they offer a variety of salads, wraps and burgers. From what I gathered, talking to another patron, this place evolved from a popular, award winning taco truck. I decided on the Bacon/Cheddar/Onion/Burger($ 7) with a side of Sweet Potato Fries($ 3). They seem to add the bacon and the sautéed onions to the ground beef, along with the chunks of cheddar cheese before the meat is grilled. It was wonderfully juicy and tasty with a smoked flavor on a fresh toasted bun. What a burger ! This is not your daddy’s hamburger. The sweet potato fries were outstanding. They were crisp and unusually sweet which provided a good contrast to the taste of the burger. I thoroughly enjoyed my experience here. If you are a breakfast person the BC Café also a nice selection of breakfast tacos, omelets, pancakes, muffins, croissants and bagels. I will be back in this area again next week so I will give this place another try. Stay tuned…

NO. NO. NO. Okay I ordered some«eggs benedict» dish that they had. Okay I’m going to build your classic eggs benedict from the ground up: onion rings, creamed spinach, steak, poached egg, and hollandaise sauce. I think the only«eggs benedict» thing about this dish was the egg and the sauce. Omg are they trying to reinvent the eggs benedict into something hip and new? Like«let’s take a twist on this!» First of all, this place doesn’t call for any kind of a food revolution. The menu is eclectic as hell and doesn’t seem to have any kind of a running theme throughout it. It doesn’t even look like a «New American» place that should even take a spin on a classic breakfast like this. Okay aside from the concept of it… The onion rings were thin, over-battered, hard, and salty AF. I LOVE onion rings(one of the main reasons why I got this dish) but I couldn’t even finish these rings. I think the onion rings were supposed to serve as the English muffin but god did it fail horribly. If you’re going to try to make this dish differently, why not use a piece of toast? Or biscuit? Onion rings don’t even make sense. Anyway, creamed spinach — WAYTOOWATERY. Literally, all the juice from the creamed spinach was leaking all over my plate. How disgusting. It wasn’t even creamy… As for the steak, it was dry and not too well seasoned. It definitely did not stand out… making me wonder what the star of this dish is(I would not argue the egg, because eggs are an obvi for eggs benedict). The egg was GOOD. I mean… it was a poached egg lol at the very least it was a classic, normal poached egg. The sauce was okay too. Nothing special. Overall, this dish was not great. Don’t get it.

After trying their brunch and lunch, I wanted to wait til after I tried their advertised Ramen Night before giving a thorough review. First visit: Sunday brunch. The two girls working the counter were young, energetic and very friendly. The french toast looked appealing, but I have a bad habit of defaulting to an eggs benedict whenever I go out for brunch. In this case, I was happy I did. I ordered the Steak Benedict here and it was amazing. The steak was very tender and delicious. The order comes with onion rings mixed in. I wasn’t sure about it so requested it on the side. Very good. The batter was excellent. Not oily at all. This is the best thing I’ve had here. Second visit: Saturday lunch. I know they’re known for their tacos, but wasn’t in the mood for it. I did try some of my boyfriend’s and have to say it was pretty good, but sort of pricey in my opinion. I ordered the turkey burger as suggested by the nice guy at the counter. It was very average and so were their fries. You can do half regular and half sweet potato fries, but it really wasn’t anything special. Third visit: Friday night/Ramen night. I love ramen, so B.C. Café was a must try for this reason. I didn’t set high expectations because this isn’t a Japanese restaurant, but was hoping it would be good since its an advertised special. The Pork Belly and Oxtail Ramen stood out on their menu board, but I went with the Hong Kong Steak Ramen. The presentation was very attractive. The egg was perfect, not overly cooked. However, the soup. actually broth is the better word here. had no flavor and the noodles were more like the texture of lo mein noodles. I did like the steak because it tasted like the same exact steak they used in the Steak Benedict I had for brunch the first time. However for a $ 15 noodle bowl, it needed a lot more to convince me. I left here without feeling satiated. Bottom line is the staff that works behind the counter are friendly, helpful and energetic each time — 4 stars for service. Other than the one brunch order I had, the food is rather average and its a small menu. Wanted to rate higher, but its a 3 star to me.

We had the brunch platter, and it was the best idea ever. We got to sample all the brunch items so here’s my list of most to least favorite. The banana foster French toast was delicious, next the Chicken and waffles which were amazing minus the fact that the the chicken was to spicy. The flavor was impeccable. The spicy factor took away from the true taste of the sampler. Next the eggs Benedict minus the Spinach but the onion ring texture gave it a little kick. Finally the ramen with egg. This was tasty but it just wasn’t my favorite plate. I was pleasantly surprised by this place. I’m excited to try their tacos one of these days.

Called to place a pickup order on a Friday afternoon since we had trouble locating their food truck for the day. We ended up ordering sweet potato fries, three sliders, and three tacos. The girl on the phone was really nice and even let us know that tacos were buy two, get one free(we were originally going to order only two). The sliders are a perfect size, I ate all three and felt satisfied. The tacos are a bit small if you’re really hungry, my boyfriend ate all three and was not full. He also preferred my sliders to his tacos, just in case you were debating between the two. The two best sliders were the bacon cheeseburger and pulled pork! You can taste the smokiness of the burger meat which goes perfectly with the bacon. If you don’t like cole slaw, make sure to ask for your slider without it. The sweet potato fries were hot and salty, just the way sweet potato fries should be. After trying their food, I will definitely be on the lookout for their food truck at any future roundup events I attend!

It’s a pity it’s not open til 10pm every day, as I would totally go there for dinner. I actually went once on a weekday and was so sad to find out it was closed at 4pm. I find the tacos to be overpriced, but oh so delicious. I love The Gatherer, the fried avocado was a first for me, and every now and then I crave it and have to come and get a taco. I like the dessert selection, and the cozy seating and friendly service. Boyfriend thoroughly enjoyed the burger as well. Glad to see a food truck turn into such a successful restaurant. Checking out their brunch is on my to do list for sure.

10÷11÷15 — We saw a newspaper article on BC Café with a picture of their Steak Benedict. It looked so good that we had to take our #SecretRunBreakfastRun here. After 4+ miles of hill runs we worked up quite an appetite. We decided to head there. Unbeknownst to us, BC Café opens at 10:30 a.m. But we were persistent on waiting. Doors opened and they had quite a crowd. The young girl who opened the door was so friendly and welcoming. The place is pretty big. They have a nice couch area to the left, ample tables in the rest of the restaurant. The menu is written on the wall. Food came out quickly, it was straight out of the stove… warm and fresh! I think the owner was the one that brought out our dishes by name. Pretty Cool! I ordered, of course, the Steak Benedict. Instead of the typical English muffin, they had it on top of big onion rings, cooked to perfection. The steak was so tender you did not need a knife, wilted spinach and 2 perfect eggs. Everyone that knows me, knows, I am NOT a sauce person. But, the peppercorn béarnaise sauce was incredible. The combination of all these flavors was a delight. This was a beautiful dish. I also tried Angie S. Banana French Toast… WOW! so warm and just divine. The bread was so moist and custardy. French Toast is my go to breakfast dish and I can’t wait to come back and order this all to myself. Although, they serve you 4 big pieces, Angie was able to share with the entire group. When we were leaving, the young lady who took our orders made it a point to thank us for coming. I highly recommend BC Café. Can’t wait to make it to their taco night!!! 2−4−1 craft beers… you can’t go wrong. If this is what they mean by eating PALEO then I’m in.

Love food truck success stories! I’ve had their tacos before at several food truck events so I’m happy BC took the leap and opened an actual restaurant location! Our running group(Secret Run Breakfast Club) came by early this morning for brunch after our Sunday morning run. They don’t open until 10:30am on Sunday but the Unilocal photos and PR kept us intrigued enough to wait the 45 minutes until open; even if we were literally banging down their door! Everything in the restaurant was so clean and I loved the little couch/TV area they had set up. Really cozy study space or relaxing area to hang out. I ordered their coveted Steakhouse Eggs Benedict that I’ve heard so much about. I love eggs Benedict and this was a very different style to the normal EB dish. The fresh made onion rings instead of the English muffin at the bottom is pure genius! I love spinach so this was an ideal topping and the steak filet and eggs were cooked to perfection. Serious #eggporn guys! The black peppercorn béarnaise was a perfect touch to top off this dish. I was so incredibly full after I ate it too. I also tried Angie S.‘s Banana’s Foster French Toast and it was divine; literally dessert for breakfast! I’m pretty sure they put mushed up banana in there somewhere.(Sorry if that was a secret ingredient leak!) The bread they use for the French toast was so soft and had a custardy texture. Highly recommend both these dishes for breakfast/brunch. I’ve heard they have special event nights such as, taco happy hour, burger and noodle night so I’ll definitely be back to try more of their fare!

I want to love BC more, I really do. But the fact is, it’s just okay. And just because they serve tacos, doesn’t make this a Mexican place, not at all.(Like anywhere that serves pasta is an Italian restaurant? I don’t think so.) They are located in a kind of strange plaza, mostly medical offices and 2 restaurants. Ambience is 100% school cafeteria. They have some inventive menu items and they get the flavors right about 70−80% of the time. The staff is friendly and helpful about 50% of the time, the rest of the time they are like distracted teenagers, staring at their phones, adjusting their boobs, and ignoring customers. I’m not a huge fan of having to go to the counter to order, go to the counter to get some sauces, wait for my food to come out, go to the counter to refill my own drink. I know a lot of places get away with that kind of «service» these days, but it’s not really fun or relaxing. It’s not that cheap here, and I’d pay a couple of bucks more to have someone refill my drink. It really bugs me that they give you a small drink cup with the meal deal — really? So the drinks are free refills, but you want me to get up and down as many times as possible to refill them, so you can save 5 cents on a cup that’s 4 oz smaller? When I asked for a big cup, I was told the biggest bs — that they control their drinks inventory by how many cups they give out. Lol. Don’t insult me. You’re just cheap, admit it! If you are in the mood, they have some good bottled beers available. So yeah… if I’m in the area, I sometimes stop in, but it’s nothing I really look forward to. Just re-read that and clearly I have a drinking issue. Lol.

Ok Unilocalers I am so disappointed in you! I read the great reviews and really wanted to love this place. I was craving a good Mexican breakfast place this is a Gringo taco place. I ordered 2 tacos and an iced tea it was about $ 10.50 so I’m hoping for pretty amazing and big tacos. I’m thinking great salsa, cilantro, beans, egg, bacon & cheese. I placed my fork in the photo so you could see how small the tacos are. My tacos were small egg, a little bacon, shredded cheese and some pico that was supposed to be spicy salsa(I was asked mild or hot salsa) but was mostly just tomatoes. Basically I could have made this at home for about $ 1.50. The location is odd but I found it. I think the restaurant itself was cute & when I first walked in I was excited to eat there. The girl at the counter was very nice. I’m just disappointed with the food being called Mexican.

Been wanting to come here for the longest time, especially for Sunday brunch, and finally did! If you were wondering why it sounds familiar, yes, this establishment is based on the BC Café food truck, which still makes its way to food truck events so it’s nice to see their business booming from both. We came to try the entire Sunday brunch menu, but instead of ordering all 5 items separately, there is an option to order The Sampler in which you get to try half of all the brunch items for only $ 30. For two people, the price and portions were perfect! Our plates included the following: 1. Chicken & Waffle Sliders: generously drizzled in cayenne maple syrup, I liked how the chicken was not dry and the waffle wasn’t very soggy when it came out. 2. Breakfast Burger: burger with bacon, fried egg, cheddar, and sweet potato pancake buns, it sounds like a hangover cure and for sure this flavor-packed burger will give you a good feeling of «the itis»(they also have couches so feel free to lounge and take a quick snooze post-meal hahahaha). 3. Korean Beef Bulgogi Grits: I love grits, and just the grits itself tasted good but also accompanied well with the kimchee, bulgogi(sadly was not enough but hey, it’s called a sampler for a reason), and fried egg(sunny side up so yes you get to poke the yolk). I’d actually come back to order this dish as a whole. #grits4lyf 4. Bananas Foster French Toast: don’t be fooled by the most bland-looking food item on the plate; topped by two banana pieces and maple syrup with no powdered sugar like on most French toasts, this one is actually quite enjoyable and the banana flavor is surely present(definitely not a hint or an essence of banana) and this was worth every bite. 5. Cajun Eggs Benedict: never had EB with hot sauce before until this one(hot sauce served on the side) and this was also another favorite that I may order as a whole; the Tabasco hollandaise sauce was pretty delicious and the crab cake was good but together with the egg and sauce and fried green tomato, it’s better. Yeah it’s one of those where you can’t eat the ingredients separately, it’s better to have everything in each bite. The only downside to ordering The Sampler is the wait. I’ve seen tables who ordered off the regular menu get their food before us; The Sampler is a popular dish and we were not the only ones to get it so you have been warned!(They are cooking 5 separate dishes for you so it makes sense) Tempted to also grab mimosas, and I’d like to note that bottomless was only $ 12, but we were going to the Unilocal Peace & Love Boat event later that evening so we wanted to save the booze for later. Next time I’d want to try their burgers and perhaps come during one of their events. Also to note, they have Taco Tuesday deals and Ramen nights on Fridays. Always something in store every day! Care for dessert? They have French macarons, an array of cupcakes, chocolates, brownies, and other pastries. For sure I’m coming back for more!

Went here right after picking up our car. It was the closest and the strawberry taco had me enthused. I got two taco hunters, chips, salsa, and a small fountain drink for 9 $. I thought they were expensive but once I saw them, full of beef cheese lettuce and with the sauce and some lime, perfect. My wife got a salad added shrimp, avocado & steak. It was dirt cheap compared to RI and their cost for that stuff. Would definitely come back here again. 5*

Sitting here at the café waiting for the food. I took advantage of Unilocal’s summer of steak specials. 50% off. hunter tacos. A good deal I thought. However was very disappointed to learn that it only applied to ONE taco. That’s kind of tacky and cheap. Of course you have to have limits, maybe 2, 3, or 4 but one? That’s cheesy. Groan. Anyway going to eat it now. More later. Ok done. The drive home took 20 minutes and included crawling up two miles of University Drive in hot bumper to bumper. The taco was ok but sadly I don’t understand the raves. It tasted only vaguely Mexican, had barely any lettuce and certainly no tomato, cilantro, etc. Yes, I knew it was not included in the menu, but it’s such an integral part! Should have at least been offered as an option. The meat looked and tasted like a cross between steak and ground beef — I had read the review citing this and knew what to expect but still disconcerting in person. It was a semi-generous portion of meat but oh my, was it salty! Approach with caution if you(like me) are on a blood pressure med) — I also ordered the spicy salsa and it really was. — a little more than sufficient imo. I also did not see the«all the sauces» other people have mentioned. The restaurant itself is pleasant. Location a bit strange. Counter person friendly. Overall too expensive in my opinion for what you get. It looked tiny and not like $ 8 worth of food. Am including photo so you can see for yourself. Don’t get me wrong, I’m all about supporting local non-chain restaurants, even though it may cost a bit more but the food has to be really good. When I compare this to always-packed Chipotle or Moe’s with their Monday Special — you just get more. More food. value for money, fresh vegetables/condiments, salsas, etc. Lastly, given all this, for me, it’s too far to justify the gas, cost, and ride time. Sorry.

I’m a big fan of BC Tacos food truck, so I am well versed in their taco offerings. They’re all great, and I especially love the gatherer(fried avocado) or really any of their tacos with the spicy mayo sauce. I have been meaning to get to BC Café pretty much since it opened, but I wasn’t in a big rush because the truck comes so much closer to me; however, that changed when I saw that they were doing a grilled cheese night! If you follow them on Facebook you will find that the chef here likes to get creative. A few nights a month they will stray from their normal taco offerings and when I saw grilled cheese was coming I knew I had to be there. We arrived on Saturday evening and the girl at the counter welcomed us to grilled cheese night. I chose to order the crab cake grilled cheese and my boyfriend went with the classic american. The grilled cheese came with a choice of tomato bisque or cream of mushroom so we got one of each. They also serve beer and wine, and what grilled cheese and wine sounded like a perfect Saturday night to me. You are given a number and take a seat to wait for you food to be served. I loved my crab cake grilled cheese. The flavors were great, and the avocado and my favorite spicy aioli along were the cheese and crab cake were a great melty combo. My boyfriend was slightly less thrilled with his choice. The American came with cheese, bacon, and tomatoes, and the tomatoes on it were a bit overwhelming, though it may have been his fault for ordering one with tomato as I don’t think he really cares for them all that much in general. Once he took them off he loved it. Both soups were good. I thought the tomato bisque had a more vibrant flavor than the mushroom, but I would order either again. I wish BC café were closer to my house, but I will definitely make it over more often, especially now that I have followed them on facebook. They are currently taunting me with a mac and cheese night coming up. The staff if very friendly and the prices are pretty reasonable. Our dinner and drinks was around $ 40, and the portions were pretty large. I saw many people taking half their grilled cheese home, but I don’t count calories on weekends so I ate the whole thing shamelessly.

First thing that stands out is their friendly service! I have been there twice before this review, first time I liked the service more than the food and the second time– I enjoyed both equally but food was a way better choice. I went with The Fred and The Gatherer. HUGEMUSTGET/RECOMMENDATION! I also enjoyed their coconut and raspberry macaroons, plus I had to try the banana bread loaf since I heard good reviews about it and enjoyed that very much as well. The best part that I haven’t tried yet but sounds amazing is the Sunday Brunches(every Sunday starting in 2015) with bottomless mimosas and a platter that contains all of these breakfast greats you see in the pictures on Unilocal

Definitely need to up my review as I’ve slowly fallen in love with BC Café between many dinners and now one Sunday brunch! You can read my previous review regarding dinners, but honestly the best thing to do is to follow BC Café through social media(I choose Facebook) and keep an eye out for any special dinners they are doing. For example last Saturday was their first grilled cheese night, and often they are doing special bacon taco events, Friday Ramen nights etc… and these are the things that keep me coming back for more. Not that their usual menu isn’t superb(who isn’t in love with that fried avocado taco) but their willingness to try new things is what really keeps me coming in the door. And it doesn’t hurt that the staff is fantastic and on the ball! Ok, so brunch. This used to be a once a month Sunday deal, but they’ve recently expanded to all Sundays… for good reason… it was packed when I was in there. Usually for dinner there is little to no line to order food… this Sunday it was out the door. And I’m sure the bottomless mimosas for $ 12 don’t hurt either. I didn’t go this route on this Sunday but I kept an eye out on those who did and their glasses were definitely refilled in a timely manner. What I really, really love about BC Tacos is their sampler platter. They often let you do a small sample of all of their specials for a cheaper price. It’s as though they know my inner fatty can’t decide between all their delicious option and this gives me a way to try it all! For brunch we opted to go this route and for $ 30 we were able to try all 5 brunch specials — on this occasion they were — bananas french toast, a breakfast burger, chicken and waffles, eggs benedict with sausage, crab cake and a fried green tomato and kimchee bulgogi grits. And we decided to get the gatherer(fried avocado taco) to wash it all down. And this was split between two people… so even with«sample» size portions you’re still getting a lot of food! As always, the food was delicious and hard to narrow down exactly what was my favorite, although we did spend a frustratingly amount of time trying to scrap every last grit out of the bowl lol. I can’t wait to go back… and eager to prepare my liver for a day of unlimited mimosas!

The next stop of my conquest to taste all the tacos from the Unilocal’s Food Fight: Taco Edition was BC Café. From reading the descriptions on the taco they submitted for the event, its different than your normal tacos from all the other places. Their tacos consist of Fried Avocado with with lettuce, mozzarella cheese and chipotle mayo. I personally love avocados so I can’t wait to tasted myself. The location of the restaurant is a bit unusual. Its located in an office building of a business park, so the parking lot is empty on weekend. Since the street sigh was a bit difficult to spot, it took me 2 U-turns to finally find the place. So we went to the counter and ordered our $ 1.00 tacos. It certainly was different from the other tacos we tasted because of the fried avocado, which was cooked nicely. I imagine most fried ingredients would taste greasy if not cooked properly, but they did a good job on the avocados. And I particularly like the chipotie mayo because that little spice changed the flavor profile of the avocados which was very nice. So after our taco specials, we felt since the tacos were pretty good, we wanted try one more of their dish. After going back and forth with different options, we went with their shrimp tacos. And to go with the tacos I also order a nice craft beer. I do see they offer other dishes like salads and burgers, but Its not a bad place for tacos.
