Atlantic Surf Club

my stomach has been hurting since i left here. i ordered fish and chips — the fish was chewy! the fries were good. we only came here because hooters was slammed. should have waited for a table there instead.

We had originally set out to go to Lulu’s Bait Shack. While driving there we were told it was no more than a 10 – 15 minute wait. We got there and were then told it was a 45−50minute wait. While waiting I went looking in the same shopping center and came across Atlantic Surf Club. Wow were we surprised. We ordered the Smoked fish appetizer AND the fish and chips appetizer too. WOW both were excellent. especially the smoked fish. It was delicious with just the right amount of heat in the background. We both ordered the Churrasco with a chimmichurri sauce. It was excellent. our veggies were excellent too. The only thing we didn’t like were the fact the lighting was terrible. and they really didn’t need the big TV’s. Maybe in the bar are yes but not the dining room.
Our server was top notch and was also very efficient too, and the view out into the Atlantic was wonderful. Bottom line it was worth it. Sorry Lulu’s.

Food and drinks were good! Service was odd… Gratuity is included which is awful. Waiter deserved less.

Service is good, nice people but the food is not good. Very plain, soggy fries, nachos should be free, they are a bunch of chips with a little cheddar sauce on top.

I had a Argentinan steak sandwich my buddy had a caprese salad and added a piece of salmon. The salmon came from the freezer. I can’t believe that. My fries were cold. Wasn’t busy so I don’t know why my fries were cold. The baguette the sandwich was on STALE. Overpriced NO duck fat fries not even suggested.
Totally disappointed.

Slow and bartender more worried about how warm it is than serving drink to the people at the location. Took over 10 minutes to get 1 beer and one mixed drink.
Not sure how long it took to get food, but definitely took longer than needed with a the number of people. I want very disappointed by the food. Fries were under cooked. Cuban «panini» was over cooked toast with meat in it. Burger was just another burger.
Server was nice but food and drink service needs work.

Talk with manager and he took off our food from the bill so that was nice.

The view at this restaurant faces the beach and it’s what I was expecting from a tourist spot. I don’t have any complaints about the food that I ordered and my guest didn’t have any as well. The noise level here is on the high side. Reggae music plays most of the time so if you are looking for something more intimate this will not be for you. The seating arrangements are mostly bar type with high tops against the wall and some tables scattered throughout. My waitress was fun and friendly and I didn’t have to wait long to be seated. The coconut mojito was heaven in a plastic cup. Parking is downstairs in a garage expect about $ 10 for a 2 hour dinner. The menu does change but it’s mostly geared toward standard American options. You should have a nice time, the view certainly makes up for shortcomings.

My boyfriend and I had just about the same experience as fellow reviewer Andy V. We are visiting from out of town and found a Groupon for this restaurant. We went at 8:20pm on a Tuesday night. We approached the host stand that reads «please wait to be seated» and we did. About 10 minutes pass by and not a single worker came to greet us. Tables were cleared, and I counted 7 active table for a full staff. Not busy. We decided to seat ourselves and figured the server in our section would take care of us. Wrong. Another 15 minutes pass by, we grab a menu from the host stand ourselves, and finally a manager (?) walks by and asks if we’ve been helped. We both tell him no. He assures us someone will be over shortly. Another 10 minutes pass by and a server finally stops at our table. No one has apologized to us yet (lol). We both order drinks, me a mojito and my boyfriend a margarita, along with our dinner. We also ask for glasses of water. A while later the server tells me the meal I order is no longer available tonight. I choose the lemon chicken dish with white rice and beans. We see our drinks sitting at the bar for quite a while before the server brings it over. He brings my boyfriend a mojito instead of a margarita but doesn’t come back until our food comes out so we both are stuck waiting. We never got water. The chicken in my meal is very plain and probably the thinnest slice of chicken I have ever been served at a restaurant. The beans are plain, the rice isn’t even cooked all the way and has hard bites throughout my meal. None of it is hot, just warm. Definitely something I could have made at home. The meal itself was tasteless. No flavor whatsoever. I can’t believe it was $ 17. I surely hope that we are compensated for this horrible meal and terrible dining experience, but it’s obvious the staff at this restaurant don’t care about their customers. Trust me, the gorgeous ocean view is not worth your $ here. Pick a place like Casablanca Café down the road. They have fantastic service and delicious food!
Side note: I’m a server at a busy upscale restaurant, so I understand when mistakes are made and service isn’t speedy. I’m typically sympathetic and forgiving in these situations. However, there was absolutely no excuse for the service we got last night. I’ve never tipped below 20%, but this was a special circumstance where we both agreed was understandable.

Friendly staff. Barbere chicken with creamy risotto was amazing.
Definitely a 4. They were out of a few things though.

So so disappointed. Evidently this restaurant is under new ownership since I last visited when it used to be spectacular. The interior looks the same, still great views, but the menu, as well as the restaurant’s fun vibe, are totally gone.
The menu used to have great fresh options ie ceviche, fresh tacos, guacamole etc being near the beach and being a visitor from Baltimore, it was light and refreshing. This time around the menu looks like it was designed by a New Jersey baby boomer — chicken parm, pasta and burgers and fried garbage dominate. I sat at the bar and ordered a beer and didn’t even order I was so disappointed. I recall the staff used to be young and hip and dressed for the beach, which felt appropriate being on the beach. Now the totally different crew is sporting polos and khakis and look like they’re dressed to work at Staples.
I used to come here every time I was in Ft Lauderdale and now I won’t be back. It’s a shame this place was ruined by a clueless owner who had no clue what made this place great.

Great location overlooking the water. The place was nearly empty around 6pm on a Friday which was interesting. Modern, clean place. Our waiter was a little awkward but nice. The menu is fairly small so I would look at it before sitting down if you are picky.
I had the lobster Mac and cheese for starters and the Black and Tan burger. The lobster Mac and cheese was delicious. So good. The burger was also good but it was too filling to finish. Kind of wish it had more cheese on it, all they did was sprinkle a little shredded cheddar. The burger itself however was amazing. The fries were average. They had some reggae, easy going music in the background. Cool place.

The Atlantic Surf Club is in a beautiful location directly across from the beach, but that is about the end of my compliments for the business. I went in on a weeknight in January. I saw one other person. She was sitting at the bar. I ordered and sat watching the ocean ready to relax after an active day.
Then the DJ started playing. Is this a restaurant or night club? My teeth were rattling. I turned around to witness the crowd of ravers, but no one was there. I asked if it could be turned down just a bit. That didn’t happen. I guess maybe they thought that the loud music would draw some customers.
As the only table for the server, I would expect her to keep my water glass full. I had just spent the day playing in the ocean and walking the A1A, and I was thirsty. She left it empty. I had to flag someone down for a refill. The server came over and just sat the water pitcher on the table. I felt a bit insulted. I assume she didn’t mean to insult me, but she made me feel like she’d rather just leave me with the pitcher than make the effort to keep the glass full. I’m your only table. I should be getting insane service right now. On the positive side, the staff always had smiles.
The food was less than average. It wasn’t worth the price. Then again, I’m in a tourist trap right now. Plates were lacking in flavor and presentation. The Unilocal pictures look so good. I don’t know where that version of this restraunt is, but they didn’t serve it to me.
Overall, disappointing service and less than average food. I will not return.

Atlantic Surf Club, what happened to you? If I would have written this a few months ago I would have given you four stars for sure, but something has happened here and it’s not good, not good at all.
Maybe it’s because Beach Place is essentially falling apart that makes things so bad here? People are scared to come because they hear bad things about Beach Place?
My first indication that things weren’t going to be good is that there hasn’t been a review written here in months that was good, but I let that slide. I remembered how much I liked it and went with my gut– big mistake.
We got to the hostess station where the sign says, please wait to be seated, and wait we did. We peaked into the restaurant and literally saw no staff– eventually a hostess came and sat us.
The only, and I mean only, redeeming quality of this place anymore is the ocean view. It’s truly epic. You will not find a better view anywhere.
Our server came and we asked him about the drink specials which he was unsure about. We asked him if they applied to all drinks since they were bogo and again he wasn’t sure and had to ask the bartender. Not sure if he was new or not.
After our drink order he vanished. Our drinks sat at the bar and eventually our bartender gave them to us. I ordered the sand castle which is his vodka, watermelon and cucumber mix and it was terrible. Like something you make in college where it’s literally 99 percent alcohol an one percent mixer. So strong it wasn’t enjoyable. My second drink was a strawberry marg which was better.
I noticed the menu has changed and they no longer do the adult milkshakes or pizzas which is a shame and part of the season I came.
It was super dark. So dark that you could read the menu. So dark that our server couldn’t see the food to figure out who got what burger. That’s how dark it was in there.
The food was ok. My fries were cold but the burger was decent. I ordered Brussels sprouts which were ok, but honestly, I could get the same food at the AMC dine in theater and for the same price see a movie with my meal.
The server never checked on us. The staff seemed to disappear to the back a lot. I noticed the majority of time we were alone. Only the bartender was out. Everyone else was in the kitchen. What’s going on back there that 99% of the staff is there. I don’t know how many times we said, «where is our server?».
I have to say, I’m completely let down with this place. I used to bring dates here, I’ve brought family and now I felt like I needed to apologize to my guests for bringing them there. I could see the look in their eyes, like, «wtf is going on here?»
It’s such a shame because on the outside its a beautiful spot overlooking such a beautiful ocean, but something has happened here and it’s not good. I can’t ever in good conscious recommend this place to anyone ever again.

We are not from this area so when we got to the «Beach Plaza», we took some time trying to find the actual entrance of Atlantic Surf Club. After finally finding the entrance on the 2^nd floor, we were seated in the air conditioned section (there was also the option of sitting at the bar, and high-​top tables). They have really nice views of the beach — which is a plus when you’re dining.
We got the Atlantic Surf Burger with duck fat fries (extra $ 1), and the Mediterranean Burger with regular skinny fries. They give a LARGE portion of fries — which is good! the burgers were delicious and cooked just how we wanted it.
Our server, Nahi Nahi was awesome! She made our dining experience great. There were 2 times when someone (probably the managers) came around to check if everything was okay — and looked interested in making us feel comfortable.

This place is the place to go or great and affordable food in fort lauderdale. I usually will go here when I am in town for business. This place is Located at Beachplace upstairs next to sonics. There is free parking in the shopping center, but can get full during weekends. The restaurant faces the beach and this restaurant has bar style seating facing the beach. The back has a lounge type seating.
The Food…
Keep in mind the entrée portions are pretty big. I like the fact they mixed in seafood everywhere in there menu. This is what I had and really liked here.
–Lobster Mac & Cheese 14.00: consist Orzo pasta, maine lobster and bread crumbs
–Trio of Tuna Tartare 16.00: consist spicy avocado, sweet soy glaze and cucumber ginger
–New York Dog 10.00: consist chili and cheese
–Martin’s Burger 14.00: consist smoked bacon, fried egg, salsa and string potatoes.
–Lamb Burger 14.00: consist lemon salsa and harissa aioli.
The Service.
Lunch time the service is ok. Staff are attentive. Weekdays during lunch are pretty slow so finding a table and wait times for orders or ok. Dinner during the weekends are pretty busy.
The Verdict.
Great food, Great service, Great value and a Fantastic ambiance. This place have a beach like look and feel and great view of the beach. There isn’t a bad seat in the restaurant.

My husband and I were in Fort Lauderdale on a layover for a couple hours and decided to venture out close to the ocean for some non-​airport food dinner. We decided to come here for a quick bite.
Location and Ambiance: Great location facing the beautiful beach. The restaurant is nice and open with a great breeze and great view (they have a bar area facing out towards the beach). The ambiance is really casual and chill.
Food: The food was good. I started off with the Spinach Artichoke Dip which was hot, cheesy and had good flavor. My husband had the Roasted Wild Salmon with rice plain because he is allergic to onions and garlic. He said this was very good and fresh. I had the Beef & Bacon Burger which was good, but didn’t come how I ordered it.
Service: All servers there are very nice and have a genuine great attitude. Our server was very nice and he was working hard. At no fault of his own, the food definitely took awhile to come out. Since it took awhile, I could only have a few bites of my burger before we left but I just took it to go and it wasn’t really a problem. I ordered my burger plain with no sauces and it came out with everything on it. Again, wasn’t really a problem. I just asked for a new bun because I didn’t want to waste the meat.
Overall, it was a chill nice place to grab a quick bite before our fight. Everyone was nice and the food was good. Not to mention, there was an awesome lightning storm and the restaurant had a great view of it!

Order crab cake sliders instead of slide appetizer. You get three instead of one for same price.
I went there around 2pm and sat on the ledge overlooking the ocean. Beautiful view and the food was pretty good (crab cake sliders). I ordered from the bartender, who I believe was in training. He was cool guy and did his best. He was a little overwhelmed but the floor manager jumped in to back him up and ended up sending over a free drink. I didn’t complain and wasn’t going to. I was too busy enjoying the view but the gesture was very much appreciated in the way of customer service. The music in the background was smooth and classy-​appropriate.
So I told my family about it and we went back that same night. The food was great and they had karaōke, but unfortunately the place was dead with a few douchebag patrons. The food was still great and everyone really enjoyed what they ordered. The drinks were weak though. We had the Hurricanes and they had very little alcohol and so much pulp that they were hard to finish. My brother in law had them before and said that his experience was completely different.
If I had come only during the day, I would give this place 4 stars, but the night time crew needs a little motivation I think. However, day or night, the food was awesome and I will come back here and I would recommend to friends.

So you’re here at the all-​inclusive Marriott and you’re looking for a bite to eat. If you don’t mind the Spring Breaker crowd, Atlantic Surf Club is a decent option with an incredibly broad menu at reasonable prices.
Star 1: How were the service and atmosphere?
I rolled into Atlantic Surf Club on a Saturday afternoon during the tail end of Spring Break, so take my impression here with that in mind. I was pleased that my party of three was seated immediately considering the crowd, but this was definitely a Spring Break vibe. The drink specials were pushed by the servers, and I don’t think there was anyone within three tables of me that wasn’t wearing neon of some sort with a fishbowl drink at the table. That’s not necessarily a bad thing, but I wouldn’t have taken my grandma or a date here. Having said that, service was quick and friendly. Star Granted.
Star 2: How were the portions relative to the cost?
One thing Atlantic Surf Club does really well is value, especially considering they could really hike up the prices being in the same complex as a series of large hotels. My Lobster Mac and Cheese appetizer that I used as an entrée was $ 14.00, which is fair considering lobster was involved, and my family’s dishes were all in the ballpark of $ 12-​$ 15. Good value. Star Granted.
Stars 3 and 4: How was the food?
Good? Yes. Great? Not quite. My Lobster Mac was fine, although I’ll argue that the pasta and cheese was relatively bland and relied entirely on the lobster to support the dish, which it kinda sorta did. Certainly not the best mac and cheese I’ve had, and likely not even in the top ten. Additionally, my Dad’s burger was suitable although lacked flavor in the patty, and my mom’s salad was just okay. This wasn’t too surprising considering the breadth of the menu, which is an understandable strategy considering the variable clientele. Single Star Granted.
Star 5: Would you eat here every day if you could?
I wouldn’t, but Atlantic Surf Club should be commended for their service, menu breadth, and affordability. There aren’t a ton of options nearby, so it’s worth a visit. No Star Granted.

I’ll be honest, this place does not blow me away. but it also doesn’t disappoint.
Service: Hmm. I have always been greeted with a smile, a friendly face and sat as soon as I walked in (which is important to me. who doesn’t love a great first impression). The waitress has always immediately come by to grab a drink order while giving me a few minutes to decide on some grub. Once your order is taken and you receive your food. your waitress will probably disappear. I’m ok with not being smothered but I’m not ok with being «forgotten». I don’t really want to wait 20 minutes to pay my bill.
Food! My fiancé always gets the Buffalo Chicken Sliders (which is usually the go-​to wherever we go). he can not get enough! I’ve tried a few things: the Margherita Pizza, the Veggie Pizza, Truffle Fries (of course. add Truffle into anything and I am game) and the Quinoa & Tabouli Salad *add chicken — (my Fave, by far. and I wanted it again the very next day!). The food will not leave you wanting for more (it is not out-​of-​this-​world but it is not bad at the same time) and the portion size is just perfect (you will not leave hungry but you will not be overly stuffed). There are a few burger that I can’t wait to try (but let’s be honest, when your at the beach. your probably not going to be eating a burger). #beachbody
The absolute best part of of this place. the View! I love sitting a few stories up, overlooking the beach and doing a little people-​watching! Best view on the beach, no doubt!
