I am nearly at a loss for words. Or perhaps I have so many words, I don’t know where to start. This was my second stay at this hotel.(see my earlier review) My first stay having been exactly one year prior. This stay was due to a family emergency. I only mention this, because it was an unplanned trip and therefore, I was not prepared financially to stay in a hotel for nearly a week during the holidays. A family member from out of state made all the financial arrangements with the hotel. After flying in from California, I was a little worried that there may be a problem once I arrived at the front desk since I had not paid for the room myself. But check-in went smoothly, no questions asked. Having stayed here before, I was completely prepared for the breakfast options and shopped at the commissary accordingly. We bought a dozen eggs to cook to our liking, but supplemented our breakfast with toast, fruit, oatmeal, granola, yogurt and sausage from the complimentary breakfast. We cooked dinner every night and always had everything we needed in the way of cooking utensils. We never utilized the housekeeping services, it was just not necessary. We told the front desk that we would make up our beds on our own. We asked only that our trash be emptied every day, since we cooked nearly all meals in our room. We also asked for new dishrag and dishtowel once during our stay. Coffee packets are always available at the front desk, should you run out. This stay, I made use of the business center. It’s very clean and spacious. I had a couple projects to complete and the printing services were complimentary. There were three desktop computers as well as the printer. The laundry facilities were really nice and completely free! If possible, bring your own soap/fabric softener. If you forget them, you can purchase from the front desk for about $ 1 each(I think) The washer and dryer did a great job. There was also a large table and chairs in the laundry room, if you don’t feel comfortable leaving your items unattended. I only had one load to do, and had no problem leaving my stuff and coming back to switch the load. What I wasn’t aware of is that there is a lending locker at the hotel. When I looked to see what was available, these were some of the items in the locker: board games, some office supplies, crock-pot, blender, waffle iron and toaster oven. I really wished I had known about the toaster oven, as I was wanting to bake some cookies for my soldier-son. But oh well, no biggie. At least YOU know about it and can make use of it if you wish. The front desk also has a small dvd library from which you can borrow movies at no cost. I really do love this place. I’ve stayed at many hotels in the past, many of which were 5-star.(Beverly Hilton, Ritz Carlton, and boutique hotels) I will tell you that the friendliness and customer service that this hotel provides is on par with those hotels I just listed. I always feel as if the only thing on their mind is making sure my stay is nothing less than perfect. Oh, and one more thing… Each and every morning, when I would go to the dining area, Michaela would greet me with a smile. She got to know me and knew what I liked. She made sure I had a clean tray in which to bring my food back to my room.(In turn, I ALWAYS made sure to bring it back to her the same morning) She’d make sure I had hot cocoa packets and decaffeinated tea bags. But the thing that impressed me most about her was that she truly cared about me and for me. You see, I was really sick while I was there. I would later be diagnosed with bronchitis. On the second morning that I was there, she shared with me her cherry flavored cough lozenges. She told me she was worried about my cough. Each day, Michaela would greet me with a smile and always asked how I was feeling. If I get the chance to return to the Hood, you can be certain that I will stay here again!

Stayed here for 4 nights last month. Aside from the kind people at the front desk, this hotel has nothing going for it unless you get a King Suite(and they only have a couple of those). We had a standard room, bed was full-sized(aka tiny for 2 people) and due to the furniture arrangement, you literally could not walk up to one side of the bed. I had to move a huge chair into the middle of the room just to get to my side of the bed. It was weird. There also wasn’t a plug near that side of the bed — come on, you know that’s lesson #1 for hotels these days, and this place is supposedly new! Above all else, the breakfast is terrible. Extremely small selection and what they do offer tastes incredibly stale and old. Of course I understand this is a private chain, but I would hope for more from Ft. Hood. This definitely didn’t feel like Living the Legend ;-)

Excellent IHG hotel with even better staff. Rooms are well equipped and immaculate clean. Located within walking distance from the Movie theater and about 2 minutes from the food court. Will stay here next time I’m TDY in Fort Hood.

Great brand new building! The rooms are large and modern. The kitchenette really has everything you need: two burners, full fridge, dishwasher, detergent, pots & Pans, silverware, steak knives, salt and pepper, glasses, dishes, mugs, coffee maker, and microwave. The room even comes with free popcorn and a DVD player. The lobby has a small selection of DVDs you can borrow for free. They also have a lending closet which has games, and small appliances such as blenders and crockpots. They offer free breakfast every morning. I’ve stayed at the hilton in killeen, it was twice as much and half the quality! Would highly recommend candlewood suites on fort hood!
