Unfortunately both times I have been in RMSS I have received rude service. The first time was 3 years ago looking for a safe and this year attempting to buy a firearm. I have no desire to go back to even try their indoor range.

I was up in the Fort Collins area and decided to stop in to do some shooting while my wife went shopping. The indoor range is well maintained and goes out to 25 yards. While I was waiting for my wife to come pick me up, I spent some time wandering around the store and talking to the employees. They were all very nice and were able to answer all my questions.

I have been shooting and buying some supplies and accessories at RMSS for years, but only recently bought a pistol there. The price was more than fair and they were willing to throw in some freebies and range time to sweeten the deal. The customer service was better than I have seen at any other Northern Colorado gun store.

RMSS is the combination of a few stores equaling a great variety these days. Gun safes, Guns, Accessories, Ammunition, and the big one, an Indoor Range. Their prices are standard, selection great, but store staff seem to only be knowledgeable in one area. Took me 3 trips there-and-back to get the right scope mounts because the guy didn’t know what he was talking about, but refused to seek assistance(like from the book Burris prints and gives to their dealers). I have had similar experiences with other products as well, but overall probably the best place to find what ya need, or shoot on a rainy day.

So, I used to go in to RMSS on occasion to take advantage of their indoor range. The price for that is not bad, and it’s well lit, clean, and in good repair. It’s a good place if you don’t want to go up in the woods on a cold wintery day to shoot. Their store also is well lit, well stocked, and they seem to have a great selection. Their staff is knowledgeable, helpful, and friendly, although I would say a bit too opinionated. I came in to buy a 1911IWB holster one time and left empty handed after the staff member I spoke to seemed to disparage my choice of holster type and offered no real advice or help at all. I haven’t purchased a firearm from them yet. Probably won’t now considering my latest experience. I have a 1911 with National Match barrel and tritium night sights I’m trying to sell, so seeing on their website that they buy firearms, I decided to go in and talk to them. I spoke to Bob there, and he told me my gun was worth $ 475 if it sold brand new, and he could give me $ 300 for it. He informed me it in fact had the standard barrel, not National Match, and to him the sights seemed about ten years old. Sounds fairish, considering they have to make a profit, right? When I informed Bob that I had paid $ 700 for the gun, he straight up told me I got ripped off. Opting to get a 2nd opinion, I left and did some research online. A collective consensus informed me my gun was actually worth $ 700, did indeed have the National Match barrel, and Bob was lowballing me. My pistol is currently in negotiation for a $ 700 selling price elsewhere. I can understand a store needing to make a profit, but this incident really reeks of a sort of underhanded dishonesty to me. They’re probably ok for some needs, but I’d be careful and do your homework before you go in. What would have been a solid four star review gets knocked down to two stars because of my latest experience.
