This is an off-leash dog beach, which is so rare and so needed. The problem is — this beach has tons of debris and actual human trash that it is a complete hazard to our furry friends. Also, we found lots of jelly fish washed up on the beach. This beach was a huge disappointment and there was literally not enough safe beach for our dog to run without hurting himself. It seems like the worst, least kept up local beach was chosen for a dog beach. We look forward to trying out Seaside instead.

Off leash dog beach!!! I found out this weekend that it’s very hard to find a place that allows dogs free to burn off vacation car-riding energy in this neck of the woods. This beach is sheltered, at the inlet to the Noyo River, not on the big wide Pacific, but its ocean water and you can sit and let the sun shine on your skin, the wind blow in your hair and let Fido RUN(and then come back and kick sand on you!!) There are logs to sit, if you prefer. The sand is farther up on the beach, and increases in size towards the water where you get some pretty loose rocky conditions. There aren’t boulders though. I was here Sunday of Memorial Day weekend and there were only a handful of people & dogs here. There were some sun bathers, although it was windy & kind of chilly. As you head down the long way around N. Harbor Road(?) you can rent kayaks & stuff. There are a few crab shacks & restaurants, though more rustic. You can stop in a few places to buy fresh fish to cook at your camp too. It’s definitely a stop on my list if the furry kids are with me!
