Stella’s 97

I have had the brunch burger numerous times now and I’m always blown away by how great it is.
It’s a ½ burger cooked to your specs perfectly. Topped with peppered thick cut bacon, raw onions, some sort of freakin awesomely delicious sauce and a perfectly cooked sunny side up egg. Sounds simple, but holy balls it’s good.

They down sized their burger. Waitress confirmed. While the brunch burger is still tasty, cut it from a ½ lb to a ¹⁄₃ lb and keeping the same price of $ 13 is pretty lame. It seems to be pretty hard for them now to cook it to the temp I like. Medium always comes out well now.
I guess I am being forced to down grade Stella’s.

After so many check-​ins here I figured I should write a review! Stellas in Forest Lake is the best bar/​restaurant with a casual atmosphere in the area! It is situated on a golf course and also hosts events. They offer a separate bar area and a separate dining room area partitioned by glass doors. The staff at stellas is always on top of things and are very friendly. The menu at stellas is on point. On the top of my list is the Minnesota Mac n cheese! Followed by the ahi tuna app, but why does it have to be such a tease. I feel like ordering two of those. Everything on the menu is good from the fish tacos to the steak bites. I’ve never ordered something I didn’t like. Check out their happy hour menu!

I used to love coming to stellas. But with all the menu changes the food is now really expensive and for the price only ok. I wish they would bring back the old menu or at least lots of the items on it and lower the prices again.

Food is outstanding, staff friendly, and chef accommodating for my Paleo/​gluten free diet. Sweet potato fries… mmmmmm when paired with the steak and asparagus. Went with friends and they enjoyed it also. Five stars and two thumbs up.

Went there once and probably won’t go back. Service was slow and not very friendly. Went with three others and they were out of two of their meals and out of another meal after they had to reorder. Not impressed!

Champagne chicken was perfect… and gluten free. Stopped here with the kids on the way through town and greatly enjoyed the food and the service.

My fiancé and I ate here this evening and loved this place! The hostess that greeted us at the door was genuinely friendly and happy, not just going through the motions like you see at most places. Our waitress was very friendly and on point with refills and making sure that everything was perfect for us. We were quite surprised at how well the service was considering they had 2 large parties and a wedding all being served at once.
The food was phenomenal. We ordered and shared the MN Mac N Cheese, which was fantastic!!!, and an order or broasted chicken wings. The portions were very generous, we had enough to take a little chicken home to enjoy later.
I can’t say enough about my first experience at this place. Everything from the breadsticks to the ranch dressing tasted great. The service was fantastic and the prices are fair. We will definitely be going back!

Happy hour offers such nice dinner discounted items, we love the Monkeys Uncle and Grilled Cesar salad and 2 fer 1 drinks, casual, very pleasant staff! The basic burger for only $ 5 is a steal, why pay $ 12 elsewhere? Had the Mn Mac and Cheese, oh my! Cheddar, Swiss and Grueyre, bacon, Andouille and more… Yum!

This is one of our favorite restaurants — we drive 45 minutes to dine at Stella’s, but we go quite regularly despite the drive. The food is fantastic — everything we have is always EXCELLENT! My favorite is the Champagne Chicken — it’s hard to stray from ordering it! But we have had several of the items on the menu, and have never been disappointed. There is a fabulous wine selection, and a big rock fireplace, which makes the atmosphere nice a cozy and comfortable. In the warmer months, there is patio seating overlooking the golf course) either screened in, or outside. If you are looking for a fool-​proof dining experience, this is it!

We had such an excellent meal at Stella’s 97. My husband had the beef stroganoff, and honestly it was the best either of us have ever had. Amazing! I had the Mac’n Cheese. Again, the best I have ever had. It had pork belly, andouille sausage and ham in it… plus lots of other nummies along with an incredible sauce. Just delicious. Service was excellent, and we love the atmosphere also. We have found a new place to go, and we can’t wait to go back!

Six of my family members met for supper. We shared two appetizers, the monkeys uncle and onion rings.
Only one order was not up to par in regard to how the steak was ordered (medium rare) and it came well ~it was also ordered as the appitizer (medallions) and came out with fries and a small salad all on one plate~ the same person ordered a ceasar salad. Confused waiter?
There was also a chicken burrito, salmon, walleye, MN Mac and cheese and strognoff ordered. All were delish. I can say some of the strognoff steak pieces were tough and some tender with an excellent flavor to the sauce.
Our waiter provided excellent service and was very accommodating to inquire as to if adjustments could be made for my mom’s allergies and they were.
We were happy to encounter two for one happy hour on a Sunday. Although my brother and SIL May have planned it :)
I did find it odd that none of the entrees came with a salad for the prices we paid. We all liked our food and will return to try more menu items.

Very impressed with the food quality and choices on the menu. Very nice selection and variety to choose from. Great happy hour prices and appetizers.
Any place with broasted chicken– sign me up! I ordered the half chicken dinner. Way too much chicken for me, but that’s the nice thing about left overs. The chicken was amazing. So tender and juicy. Their sausage wild rice stuffing was amazingly tasty. Some of the best stuffing I’ve ever had. Mashed potatoes and gravy were okay.
Mom ordered the happy hour potato skins.
Dad ordered the Chicken Club wrap with fries.
J ordered the burrito which he said was pretty good. Really good rice inside.
Service was excellent. Our server, Becky was great. Attentive and on her game. Didn’t have to wait for anything. More than accomodating.
Friendly staff. Would defintely recommend! Great and reasonable prices.

This place wasn’t too bad. Decent food and very good service. Some of the bar food was clearly frozen and bagged where other items seemed fresh, so this I why I had to keep it at 3 stars some stuff was too bland were other items shined bright, the place is worth a try.

What a disappointment! Ordered two of the three steaks available, and neither was worth the price we paid. I have had better french fries at McDonald’s and had it not been for the garlic aioli that came with our appetizer (onion rings, which were greasy, but good), I would have skipped the fries altogether and gone hungry because my steak was a total of 7 bites. Volume was great if you are drunk, but if you’re looking to have a conversation during your meal, bring a bull-​horn, or go eksewhere. There was absolutely no way this was a 66.00 dining experience! (That price was JUST food and two sodas… No alcohol!) we would be very hard pressed to return here again. Save your money and go to Applebee’s!

I made reservations on Friday morning for 7pm that Friday night. We got there at 6:45pm and were seated as soon as we walked in. As requested we were seated in a booth but were seated closest to the bar and furthest from the main dinning area. The bar was extremely loud. Me and my date had to lean accross the table and yell several times just to chat. We ordered our drinks and soon after an appetizer. Drinks and appetizer came in a timely manner and were wonderful which was the spinach artichoke dip but were left waiting for our dinners for quite awhile. I ordered the chicken alfredo and my date ordered the filet mignon. My pasta was great but could of went with out the SEVERAL large pieces of fresh garlic and the filet mignon was of OK quality. The restraunt is beautifully decorated and the candle on the table helped set a good atmosphere. I would consider going agian but not in a hurry to go back.

My wife and I came out to have some dinner without the little one. My wife ordered the seafood pasta, and it was delicious. I ordered the 16 Oz. ribeye, it was cooked perfectly (medium done), but the meat was a little too charred for my taste and a little bland. I still devoured it despite it being a little too charred and bland because the mash potatoes, green beans, and garlic bread stick balanced the flavor out well. Our server was polite and attentive so that is always a plus. All in all everything went well and I would eat here again. Hope this helps with anyone deciding to dine out.

2pm on a Saturday… one of many unusually warm 2012 March days. Stella’s is located at a golf course. Plenty of golfers here today. The restaurant is attached to a bar. Outdoor seating is also available.
For American grill style food, Stella’s has a somewhat unique (in a good way) menu. I had the Tony Soprano burger — a fennel sausage and other Italian seasoned piece of ground meat on an extremely soft ciabatta roll. It was fun to try. I liked that it was different than the ordinary run-​of-​the-​mill menu selections at other restaurants. Stella’s has plenty of other interesting selections on their menu. They have a website that has a link to the menu. I’m going to try to include some pics of the food. They had the biggest onion rings I’ve ever seen.

We’ve gone here twice, driving up from the Twin Cities. Both times the food and service was outstanding. We started with the onion rings as an appetizer, the were excellent. My wife had the mushroom and swiss burger with fries. The burger was prepared perfectly… medium, just as she had asked! The fries came with a delicious garlic aoli; I mean delicious! They should sell it! I had the prime rib sandwich, also served with fries. We will definitely be going back.

First and foremost I’d like to start off by saying that our server Jennie is the reason I’m giving this review a 4 as opposed to a 3. She was great. I go to Stella’s quite often and in the end I always want to like the restaurant more than I end up liking it. Everything always has so much promise but tends to fall short on execution. The menu reads beautifully but the complexity of ingredients never comes thought in the food. Tonight I started with the Monkey’s Uncle which is oddly named but ended up being the highlight of the dinner. The chicken was perfectly cooked and was great. I enjoyed the sauce but my wife hated it. I then ordered a seafood fettuccine. The sauce was good, the noodles were cooked well but my problem was the small bits of seafood. For the price I expected more seafood. There were about 4 tiny scallops, 4 small muscles, a couple small pieces of langoustine and finally the shrimp were good size but there was only 2. At that point it was just a lack of quantity for price. I didn’t taste my wife’s steak but she said it was pretty flavorless. This place is close to being great but it’s not quite there yet.
On a side note, it is a great place to get drinks with friends and hang out. Good atmosphere and bartenders.

Wow! What a great dinner! We shared an appetizer sampler and then each had a burger (I had the mushroom and swiss, he had the black and bleu) and they were fantastic, but the very best of all was the garlic aioli that came with the fries. Oh my gosh… fantastic!!! Only mistake… we couldn’t save room for dessert! We would highly recommend Stella’s and we hope to go again soon!
