I recently moved to this area from a different state. I was craving a cheesesteak for lunch and decided to try this place out. I’m a waitress and I know that customer service comes first in any food establishment. The food was okay & I’m saying this in a nice way but the service was bad. Not only did we stand there, right in front of the man and cook waiting to tell our orders for about 8 minutes, the man himself was mumbling under his breath«I can’t wait to close this place, I’m tired of working» repeatedly. I even whispered to my bf if he wanted to leave because I felt like we were being ignored intentionally. We finally placed our order and the man just gave us a hard time. Literally. The way we asked for crushed cherry peppers and the way my bf squeezed ketchup from the bottle wasn’t good enough for the man and he felt the need to say something to us about it. It was a very rude experience and for that alone we said we will not be going back.

This little place has the best take-out Italian hoagies ever! The meats and cheese are freshly sliced into the rolls, as is the tomato. The rolls are very fresh.

Tasty food, friendly family owned location. Driving through Philly stopped by to check out due to Unilocal rating. Cheesestake with American cheese was great.

It’s a Delco classic. It’s been around since I was a little boy. It was my step dads favorite hoagie place. All meats sliced to order. They have always used real prosciutto. Cheese steaks are top rate. Worth the drive. Very old school.

Heard the burgers were great. I was hungry. So to Mike and Emma’s it was. The burger was paper thin patties stacked in a submarine roll. Since they don’t have lettuce here, I had fried onions and ketchup on it. The cheese was American. There is no fryer so forget fries — grab a bag of chips. Had a decent selection of soda — I had a Virgil’s cream. How someone could say this is a great burger is beyond me. So many better choices.

This place makes a true Italian hoagie. A real Italian hoagie shop. Cheesesteaks are good too. Lots of other great sandwiches and hoagies. Makes a fantastic egg breakfast sandwich with peppers. Family run and friendly. Has a few small tables to eat in. Closed Sunday and Monday. Cash only.

Probably the best hoagie shop in delco. Fresh is an overused adjective, but wholly applies to this cozy joint. Their Italian is a healthy dose of meats, sliced to order, as well as the onion and tomato, cut right onto your sandwich. HOT long hots, the way it should be. Real olive oil. When you order a whole, the first half will have you stuffed, but your taste buds while override your stomach and force you to finish this monster. Great steaks as well. Lettuce? Produce junction is up the road, chump. Mayo? You’re not in Iowa, duder. This is where to go if you want the real deal hoagie. The interior is barebones, offering no distraction from the taste smack down about to unfold in your mouth. Do it.

The greater hoagies in the whole world. Everything is fresh, slice the meat right there when you order and cut the tomatoes or pickles right before they go on your sandwich. It is heaven. Love the people there too. Get the cheeseburger hoagie you won’t regret it!

A Delco staple. Family owned, old style steak and hoagie shop. My favorite cheesesteak spot on the Blvd. also a big fan of the cheeseburger hoagie. Not a huge fan of the hoagie because they don’t cut the meat fresh. Go with a cheesesteak and you won’t be disappointed.

Got lucky and found this Place with the help of Unilocal. One of The best sandwiches I have ever had. The owners/staff and guest are as friendly as can be. The small hoagie is huge and the large is massive! I will be eating here tomorrow as well. Fresh cut meat good bread and excellent toppings. Love it!

Ok. I get it. And am completely a fan of small, local, mom and pop joints(esp ones ran by lil old Italian grandmoms where you can see their ironing board in the back room, still steaming from the early morning«housecoat» ironing). The vibe and authentic, no nonsense«we don’t do lettuce» approach is at least 2 stars. The soft, just chewy enough, perfectly textured roll is a half star. The sliced-in-front-of-you cheeses are a half star. So for location, charm, and service Mike and Emma’s is a win. Price? 9.00 for a hoagie comprised of only tomatoes and cheese and good bread? Not so much. Granted, I’m a vegetarian, so really Mike and Emma only had 3 ingredients with which to «wow», but sadly, the only thing that«wowed» me was the price for those three so-so ingredients. Ps: I was looking forward even to hand-sliced tomatoes, as other reviews suggested(it’s that old-school service and quality thing that gets me:)…but on my visit, I was given what equated to tomato«salad» on my hoagie… rough chopped tomatoes and salt/pepper/oregano in olive oil. A little diced onion thrown in, as well. Not bad, but definitely not good either-or what I was expecting.

It’s been around as long as I’ve been alive. If you are from a central/southern Italian(and I mean grandmother/mother from Italy) family you’ve probably had sandwiches like they prepare here. The woman at the counter reminds me of my nonna, speaks Italian with you(if you speak it to her first, obv), hand cuts the tomatoes for sandwiches(!) to order, and is simply charming. Their cheesesteaks are decent, their Italian subs are delicious, and(when available) their meatballs are dead ringers for my nonna’s. Cons: no lettuce, no credit cards, randomly closed for long periods.

This place has been around so long, but I never bothered to come here until now. This is how I see it in Delco. If you have your favorite pizza or sandwich places, they’re often in the same town as you, and you don’t venture out past them. Because there are so many pizza and sandwich shops in our area, we usually don’t have to go farther than a mile to get our fix. This place is out of that mile or two range for me. It’s not far away by any means, but it’s a few miles away, and when you pass 4 or 5 sandwich shops on the way, you tend to stop at one of those first. Basically, if I’m driving down to this part of Mac Dade Blvd, it isn’t to get a cheesesteak. But several friends have talked this place up to me. So, in order to be the proper Mac Dade Blvd Eating Guru, I gave them a shot this week. I’ll say right off the bat that I wish they had more choices. You see, they had a chicken cheesesteak which I was in the mood for, but I really wanted a buffalo chicken cheesesteak. Heck, I would have settled for some hot sauce for the sandwich. I was informed they don’t make them, nor do they carry hot sauce. I thought everyone carried hot sauce nowadays. I won’t hold it against them though. Just know that their menu is limited. But, I will give it up to them. The chicken cheesesteak was well made, on a fresh roll, and very tasty. I can tell they take some pride in what they do make. And that’s worth something. I may not drive down here often for a cheesesteak. But I’ll give them my props. They are a worthy sandwich for the suburbs.

Why is it that this small little shop that doesn’t even accept credit cards can make a better cheesesteak than the shop near my neighborhood dedicated to cheesesteaks? Seriously, I’m shocked. There’s a place near my home that is strictly about cheesesteaks and they’re terrible. But if I go for a 3 minute drive down, I find this little gem and treated to a fantastic steak. This place is quaint but the quality of the food is amazing. I loved my steak. Perfectly seasoned, great bread, and the price was awesome. Sadly, they don’t deliver, so it means I always have to take a drive over… but it’s worth it.

I walk into Mike and Emma’s with an open mind and empty stomach on a rainy afternoon a few days before Christmas hoping for some magic. I feel as though I am immediately transported to 1950s smallville. The décor is outdated but very clean. A nice gentleman takes my order. I’ll have a cheesesteak and an Italian hoagie. I’m fat. The cheesesteak was decent, I’d say average and the hoagie totally brought me back to my grandmom’s kitchen and reminded me of her homemade hoagie. I’d absolutely go back to M &E’s but I wouldn’t go out of my way for it.

So my needs for a great cheesesteak goes like this: — Meat texture(chopped) — Meat amount(overflow of roll) — Roll quality(crispy outside, so soft inside) — Cheese amount(at least 5 slices) — Cheese placement(mixed in, not on the top/not on the bottom) — Onion texture(lightly sautéed) — Onion amount(throughout, not overflow) Yes, you read that correct, maybe I am a little crazy. Tasty! This is my mom’s new favorite stop for cheesesteaks and I had the pleasure of tasting them yesterday and YUM! They went against my first rule — HOWEVER — it was delicious! The meat was not as minced as I prefer but the texture was amazing, literally melted in my mouth. It was so tender. The roll was perfect, crispy and so soft inside. The cheese amount could have been a little more, however, now I know to order extra cheese. The onions were great too. Yum, now I want another. My mom says it’s a small mom and pop shop that has been around forever, we had our steaks to go so next time I will have to go in and say hi. We also tasted the hoagie, it was a bit different, the tomatoes were chopped and added to the roll with the onions and there was no lettuce. However, the cold cuts were great and the roll was delicious, so I loved it.
