Overpriced everything! Typical pricing for a Korean restaurant. $ 30 for an order of BBQ pork for two. It’s ridiculous! We also ordered some of their cold noodles which were awful. They were absolutely flavorless. One was a soup based cold noodle. It was very bland and you had to add a lot of their sauces to make it taste somewhat decent. The other cold noodle was some super red crap. I assume they wanted the dish to be spicy but it wasn’t. It looked like Red Skull(Villain from Captain America) was just chillin my bowl. The restaurant also had a fowl stench that was coming from either their floors or walls. It smelled like an unwashed dog that’s been in the rain. Their drink prices were also outrageous. I think it was $ 2.00 or more for a can of soda and 13 to 15 bucks for a bottle of soju. Seriously, soju is like 4 – 5 bucks tops for the small bottles. This isn’t some kind of fancy upper class restaurant. It’s just a common Korean BBQ joint around Murray Hill. They have no specials on beers or any of their beverages. Verdict — Don’t bother. Take my advice and skip this place. Our waiter sucked too.

I LOVE this place. This is not your typical fancy and comfy Korean venue. It’s an indoor«street» joint. The food is absolutely delicious and well portioned. The price is unbeatable for what you get. Great place to bring a few friends to mingle the night away with food and beer.

NOMZ. It’s funny that I finally found the name of this place because my sister would just called it the«ghetto murray hill korean place» and we all knew which one she was talking about haha Not gonna lie, this place is a little ghetto in terms of décor, but don’t let that stop you! The food is absolutely fantastic! Good portions for decent prices. Much more variety than your average korean bbq place. The only major problem is that it gets really packed during standard meal times and I’m not too sure if they do reservations, but def get there early so you can actually sit inside, and not on that table by the door(especially during winter. SOCOLD)! Service was also just alrightttt, but it might have been because the time that I was there, not only was it busy, but some inspection officer was there, and the tables without the fan on top couldn’t have the fire on it … 0___0 which of course defeats the whole purpose of kbbq… We actually ended up moving to three different tables because the first was outside in the far back and there was a puddle right where we were sitting… then the second table didn’t have a fan on top so we couldn’t bbq(and we wanted too). and then finally a third table by the door. Freezing, but fought through it with their delicious tea and their seafood sundubu jjigae. Also had like 2 orders of samgyeopsal. Remember to use the gireumjang which is the accompanying sauce made with salt and sesame oil. And of course we had a seafood grill combo. Also use the sauce provided! Us asians love our sauces: B PS. We took public transportation here since we wasn’t about to drive… PPS. Ambiance is very like… korea street food. I wouldn’t bring a huge group of people since it was even hard to sit 4 people in a decent place. There were a bunch of drunkies too. Angry korean men… my favorite…

Don’t be afraid of their C rating. Or their stools and tables that seem dirty. Or their walls that are filled with graffiti. When we sat down, we felt like we couldn’t even touch our glasses of water or the salad they presented to us in a bucket. We felt dirty just being there. Then when the food came, my mind was blown. Everything was so good! Seafood pancake. Sweet beef short ribs casserole. We had 3 dishes for the 3 of us to share. It was more than enough. This is a place where you can drink cheap soju and warm your tummy.

If you are like me and enjoy sitting on uncomfortable plastic stools while hovering over burning hot coals on shaky metal tables surrounded by graffiti — then you will be in heaven! We feasted on two orders of daegi galbi, a pot of doenjang jjigae and a few bottles of soju. Everything was seasoned correctly and portions were plentiful. I cant wait to come back and bring a designated driver that way I can indulge in some more drinks and truly recreate my days in Seoul. This place is the real deal!

First time i came here and got the meat combo. The experience of sitting at a small table on flimsy plastic chairs as they bring out white hot wood coals and sit them in the middle of your table while some of the embers start to pop and sparks fly, is fantastic. They immediately cover the coals with a metal grate and you can start slapping on the meat and veggies. They did a good job creating the inside to feel open with an outside feel to it. Fun décor… good atmosphere and the noise level isn’t too loud. They have 22 once beers for 6 dollars and the bathrooms are very clean. Cons: The second time i came here I ordered the seafood combo. And although the clams were very delicious and juicy. A couple of them opened up black on the inside(we threw them out) but it made me feel uneasy about the seafood i was eating. you never want to see a clam open and it be gross and black on the inside. Needless to say I took precaution and over cooked some of the other items such as the snails just to be on the safe side. My friend ended up having stomach pains all night. TIP: stick to the meat. seafood is questionable. If anybody knows why the clams opened up covered in black. please msg me since this is the first time i have ever seen this.

My stomach is always in the mood for Asian cuisine and Korean has always been a favorite of mine. This time around, my brother didn’t want to travel all the way to K-Town for Korean food so we settled on this Korean version of a pub/tavern/dive bar. This place is different from what you would expect of a Korean restaurant because it’s designed to be like the street-style drinking establishments you find in Korea(think of a pocha being the equivalent of a Japanese izakaya). You’ll find very few, if any, non-Koreans at this place so you know the food and atmosphere is as authentic as it gets. It was a Saturday night so it was very busy but even then, we only had to wait about 10 minutes before we were seated in this back-room addition to the restaurant. My brother preferred to sit near the front and when he asked the waiter, they were very obliging and found a table in the front of the restaurant almost immediately. Once seated, they quickly got us a pitcher of water and bowl of complimentary salad. I left the ordering to my brother and he asked for some sort of deluxe barbecue platter that is only found on what my brother calls, «the secret menu». In any case, we also ordered the haemul pajeon and mandu. The pancake was large, crispy, and thick so it definitely hit the spot. I forget which kind of mandu we ordered but it was fried nicely and they were tasty. The barbecue meats were absolutely delicious and juicy. Even though the restaurant was smoky and really hot, it didn’t deter from my enjoying the flavorful barbecue. The only issue I have is the terribly loud music that made it hard for me to speak to my party. But I came here for the food so all was not lost. Regardless of the loudness, the service is great, the décor is interesting, and the food is amazing. I would definitely recommend visiting this little establishment. C.

First of all… parking sucks @$$. Maybe because I’m a CA girl but we struggled to find parking… It’s an old style Korean BBQ restaurant(or should I say«street style»… it has those metal table tops, folded chairs… feels very casual and comfortable. We had ordered the seafood combo, which had TONS of huge clams(if not ALL clams)… It was good, but I was craving for meat :(Like good old galbi and beef tongue. Nope, none. They also have the steamed egg, which is one of my fav… when I asked about it, the waitress said they only come with 1/combo order or something… I asked if I can BUY one, she still said no! OMG, I was about to lose it(after 3 bottles of cham churum)… I think the cook saw me and to avoid a flipped over table, he made one for me: D HAHA! Anyhoo, I just wish that they have more meat selection to satisfy the meat cravings of mine…

It’s actually known to the patrons as «Goo Gong Tan» more than the Han Shin Pocha Restaurant. I had the late night craving with some buddies in NYC and decided to drive out to this block where it’s known for good food. I cannot believe how empty this place was around 1AM. I remember not having a place to sit back in the day but now it is kind of becoming a ‘has-been” location. I personally LOVE this place for its casual atmosphere… the food is great and i can actually carry a conversation without being over powered by loud dance music… Try their seafood soup, clam bake and order of ramen…

If Manhattan’s Koreatown has Pocha 32, Murray Hill Neighborhood of Queens has this place. Haven’t been here a while. This place looks and feels like if it’s straight out of Korea and you get confused after a while and wonder whether you are in Korea or in the US due to the many Korean patrons and posters everywhere. Great atmosphere and Korean tapa-style food. Their Jogae-Gui is AWESOME. Great place to kick back with your buddies and down some soju. Also, if you miss Korea or want to experience indoor Korean-style pojangmacha, this is the place!

This place is really good on a cold day and you just want to get slammed with alcohol and seafood. The draw for me here on a cold day is the fire. They got this charcoal grill in the table that is great. After I get my fill of heat, the next thing are the selection of clams you can get. Regular clams, turban clams, razor clams, clams that look like whelk. They got mushrooms, veggies and dipping sauces as the supporting cast. If you order a tray of seafood they usually throw in a spicy soup which is great. Its a great place to hangout late at night. The décor is graffiti on walls. Pretty casual and comfortable place to hangout with friends on a cold day.

ambiance: feels like you are entering a dark alleyway to eat at one of those street shops in asia. plastic chairs, metal drum to set the table top upon, wire lighting and graffiti walls. its divey and somehow nice. we had the seafood combo which included shrimp, snow crab, mussels, clams, snails,… the seafood definitely seemed to taste better cooked over the charcoal pit and washed down with a brew or two.

Awesome, divey Korean bbq place, with graffiti-plastered walls, industrial detailing, round tables sitting on metal barrels, and plastic stools. Atmosphere is most definitely fun, young, and unpretentious. The tables have a pit for the bbq charcoal. Seafood appears to be their specialty(although they have beef kalbi also). We ordered the #1 mixed seafood bbq, which included a bunch of large and small clams, 4 large shrimp, 4 small shrimp, 2 snow crab legs, 6 mussels, several sea snails, and what amounted to a mini scallop bake and clam bakes in their shells. Perfect for 2 people, with nothing else ordered. The charcoal is brought first, then all the seafood on a grill is laid on top. We were pretty much responsible for managing the food with the tongs they leave at the table, but our waiter stopped by periodically to help and give some tips. Be warned that the center gets super hot so pay attention, and move food that’s done off to the edges, on the plate, or in your mouth. Since we could cook the food to our liking, the clams, mussels, and shrimp were perfect, with the charcoal flavor that makes grilling special. Scallop and clam«bakes» in sauce were so-so, not very flavorful. Sea snails were interesting but seemed lacking in flavor too. There’s a mildly spicy red pepper sauce for dipping, and the seafood comes with a creamy, slightly spicy dip also. For extras, there’s a salad whose dressing had a great kick, and a savory egg custard. A selection of Korean and non-Korean beers and wines available(and goes great with bbq). Menu also has a lot of other items, again with emphasis on seafood, but did not try on this visit. Lots of Korean restaurants in this area, near the Murray Hill LIRR stn. Not easy to find parking, the area is mostly small streets.

Korean BBQ A warning before you come here. If you don’t like grungy, almost hole in the wall type restaurants and you feel like you need to hand sanitize everything around you, this is definitely not the restaurant for you. Located around the Murray Hill LIRR train station, is this gem of a place. Offering great late night eats at great prices. There are ample amounts of food on the menu, and alot to choose from that you aren’t sure what you want to eat. I’ve ordered some meats and mainly seafood BBQ orders when I’ve come here. The meat is standard for most BBQ places. The seafood is very fresh and they give you a good amount. Good food at a good price and a fun atmosphere. Parking is a little of a hassle as the neighborhood is a little cramped and alot of people come down to eat or go to the bars in the area. So there are always cars on the small streets looking for parking.

when you walk in, you feel the«street eats» ambiance right away. It is fun and not pretentious at all. every table has a grill for BBQ meat or seafood. Our waiter was so helpful I think I would have panicked if he was not there for me to ask questions. My hubby and I had the clam BBQ for approx. $ 32.99 and the beef stew with pumpkins for approx. $ 27? well… the clam BBQ was sooooooo great! It was juicy and sweet. You will get a spicy dipping sauce for the clams also. The waiter showed us how to wait for the shell to open, then crack it in half, then bake it some more till done. yummmmm… The pumpkin beef was very good too. Good drinking place.

Divey seafood place with the smell of charcoal hanging in the air. Very loud music. You sit on little plastic stools around small tables, good for only four people. Parking is a pain. The food is basically as good as your cooking skills are. They give you the live shellfish and you cook it on the charcoal grill until you think it’s done. For me, the food was great =)

Their ambience is young, live & fun with graffiti all over the walls, customer are welcome to add their own. The place gets crowded on weekend night, try their seafood pancake, the crust is crisp and the batter tasty. Of all the Seafood Pajun I had over the years, this one definitely stand out. For first time visitor try either the seafood(a varieties of clams, razor calms chop up scallops) platters, using real charcoal for grilling. Their short ribs Casserole are tender and flavorful. They recently added a tube connecting device lower from the roof to the ventilation system, can be pull down during grilling, inside air quality does improve somewhat. There are great deals of Korean establishment near the Murray Hill LIRR station, but Han Shin Pocha is definitely one of the popular one.

What an awesome place this is! Came here after the Mets torched Houston last night and was really pleased. First off, it is extremely authentic, tucked away in the Murray Hill section in eastern Flushing. Needless to say, we were the only white folk in the whole establishment. I would also like to point out how incredible the service was. Our waitress took care of everything, she was a real sweetheart. Also note this place uses real live super hot burning charcoal. Doesn’t exactly leave you smelling like roses but it’s a nice change of pace. Anyway on to the grub, we started off with the Seafood Pajun, which was great. Not greasy and it was really a huge pancake at that. We then continued with the Modeum jogae(assorted clam grill):I’d call this the Korean version of a mixed clam bake, it came with regular clams, razor clams, turban(sea snails), chopped seasoned scallops, chopped clams, and mussels… i may be missing some stuff as it was after 1 when we finally ate and I wasn’t entirely sober. Next we had the gan jang soo yook(soy sauce pork belly) and it was really yummy. Again our waitress did everything for us and it came with a wonderful dipping sauce, as well as lettuce leaves to wrap ‘em, whole garlic and jalapenos. Seriously this was quite yummy… So being that we had already had some KFC — korean fried chicken for u home gamers, and it was nearly 2am that was all we could muster. The food was tasty, the atmosphere even better. I really love that spot over by the Murray Hill LIRR and I will have to revisit on another day… side note… as we were paying the bill, two huge raccoons hopped up on the window in the back patio, thank god there was separation cause i really think they wanted some of that pork belly, but still just a trippy end to a great night in queens!!!
