Establishment is pretty nice and clean, the food is good but not my favorite. And the only reason for the four stars was my server, he was fantastic and on top of everything, like filling water, replacing salsa and chips and just being able to help us with our selection. Can see myself eating here in the future.

Pretty solid food everytime we visit. I know they have a hard time staffing the place and they seem to do a good job for the most part. If you expect a high end setup I probably wouldn’t go here but if you want good food then it is hard to beat the value.

New to the area from the north Houston area where tex mex is plenty. We have been looking for good food, for a good price. We were pleased with the service, the atmosphere and the food selection. It’s great to find something close to home and family friendly. We look forward to making this a regular dinner spot!

Overall just bad food, lukewarm tacos, dry rice coagulated queso. Cafeteria atmosphere. Friendly helpful staff. We won’t be back the experience was unpleasant.

One of my cohorts and I meet about once a month for the Wednesday enchilada special at El Chico. You get 2 enchiladas of your choice for $ 5.99. We always sit in the same booth and usually get the same waiter. I always go with the cheese enchiladas with no onions. The location we go to in Highland Village is always spotless and the wait staff prompt and courteous. The chips are always fresh and the salsa has just the right amount of heat. When I don’t have a lot of time and don’t want to spend a lot of money but want a quality meal, you can’t go wrong. It is strictly a value proposition for me. It would great to spend $ 15 dollars for lunch everyday but that doesn’t fit my budget.

Late Sunday visit, fairly empty. Promptly seated and waited on, server Emily was very attentive. Ordered Mama’s Enchiladas with beef, cheese and chicken, standard rice and beans; Top Shelf Enchiladas and Chicken Tacos. All dishes passable, but not outstanding. The tortillas on the enchiladas were very dry and almost card-boardy tasting. Fillings were tasty, sauces were fine, but the overall effect was not something I would do again. Our party gave ratings out 5 being best, 2, 2, 3. Service was great, but can’t make the same statement about the food.

The only good thing I can say is the service was good. There were 5 of us and everyone had cold food. It was not crowded, so there was no reason. I tried the Santa Fe chicken quesadillas. They were horrible! When we complained about the temperature of the food, a manager should have come over. Will not return!

You can get tacos and enchiladas anywhere. Wanna know whats really good here? The freakin chicken enchilada soup. Yea buddy. They deconstruct it, and it is delicious. The veggies are simmered in the broth then blended into a silky broth. At table side, they pour this broth over grilled chicken, tortillas strips, cheese and avocado. The chicken is all smokey from the grill… it goes perfect with the broth. This is one of the best chicken tortilla soups u can get in the DFW. hands down. Lets have a quick chat about the brownie skillet. Get this thing. Seriously. Its a brownie topped with ice cream that comes on a hot skillet, and they pour a butter sauce all over it all in your face. Yasssss. And then it sizzles. This is something u just need to experience. Get this!

Terrible food. The steak in the fajitas was tough, and room temperature, while the«sizzling» plate was cold. The queso tasted like Velveeta. The service was rude and dismissive. I’m not sure what happened — this place used to be great, but now I’d avoid it like the plague.

After discovering that the Abuelo’s in Lewisville was closed for renovations, we found there was an El Chico’s in Flower Mound… thanks to Unilocal. I had the the mixed grill fajitas(beef, chicken and shrimp). Hubby had chicken enchiladas. Both were excellent!!! The service was exceptional and the food was delivered to our table promptly.

El Chico is very under-rated tex mex restaurant chain. It has been a staple in the business for years. This particular restaurant is always clean and is well run. The management team is always around with a smile and helping the staff. It’s not the trendy place of the year, but you will always get a quality experience!

The service is always really good. The manager was responsive. The food is just uneventful. The top shelf guacamole is better than pre made but certainly not Anamias. The black beans were like straight out of a can. everything else was just kinda eh!

El Chico is by far one of my fav Mexican restaurants. I’ve been going there for 24 years and their fresh Mexican food keeps me going back despite a lack in service at some locations. This location however has had pretty consistently good service! I do wish they had homemade tortillas like some of the other locations, but I cannot live without their old style queso. They changed the recipe about 20yrs ago but you can still request the«old way» and I suggest that you do!

I’ve been to quite a few El Chico restaurants in my day, and I’m usually happy enough with the basic simple greasy cheesy Tex Mex food I have come to expect and appreciate. It’s cheap too and serves its purpose. But this El Chico is much nicer than the rest! Inside and outside you can see a difference. Nicer, cleaner, better décor, and great location. I swear the food even tastes better! El Chico will never be the best thing you ever ate, but this location really impressed be and I have been back often!

Not the greatest Mexican food but pretty good for the price. The fajitas are a safe bet.

We visit here at least once a month, more often when we can. For inexpensive food that doesn’t taste that way — come here. We love the fajitas… you get a good amount for the money and they ‘re very tasty. They have a lunch menu with great deals on it. Kids portions are very good. Watch out for mediocre service. If this happens and you’re dissatisified — notify the manager immediately and they’ll take care of your problem. A good place to eat, not expensive… but definitely not«cheap».
