I made my first trip to Alforno’s for lunch today but it won’t be my last! With all the Italian places in Lewisville to go, this may become my favorite! I had the Chicken Murphy which was made with jalapeños instead of hot Italian peppers that’s what got it a 4 star instead of 5. The tiramisu was really good and the service was great! I’ll try something else next time as there are quite a few choices on the menu. If you like Italian, give Alforno’s a try. The food is good, the prices are affordable and the portions are ample!

The ONLY place to eat Italian in Flower Mound. Not much of an ambiance but with food this good and cheap, that doesn’t really matter. As an Italian transplant from the northeast, I was glad to finally find a place in the dfw area that could actually make Italian food that wasn’t pizza!

Decent pastas but the pizzas are pretty bad, they are not the hand tossed pizzas I would expect from an Italian restaurant.

We were in the neighborhood and so Unilocaled for something to eat. Server looked mad at the world and inconvenienced by our arrival at their empty restaurant in the middle of a Sunday afternoon. He was terse and not helpful at all. Started with garlic bread appetizer with tomatoes topped by mozzarella. It was surprisingly light. We’d eat this again. Dinner salad was typical iceberg lettuce with too much cheese. House dressing was tasty. I got Rigatoni Cacciatore which is basically peppers and sausage. The marinara was just«OK», though the little bit of heat was a little surprising in an Italian dish. Pasta was a nice al dente. Jen got the Chicken Alforno. She wasn’t impressed. I tried a bite and didn’t disagree. The sauce had a very flat or bland taste and the chicken was overly dry. The rolls that came with the dinner were very dry and we didn’t even finish one.

Very yummy Italian and incredibly affordable for the quality you get. Would definitely come back and maybe do more than just take out(that is a huge compliment, we dont eat in much cuz the kids get rowdy and by kids I mean me)

4 stars for service. The food was tasty, the ambience was pleasant, but the service was stupendous. We enjoyed the live piano music. It was a good place to take my daughter to a nice dinner. She felt it was fancy, but it wasn’t upscale, and definitely better than a chain. The prices were reasonable.

I’ve lived in the Boston and New York area and this is the closest you can get to authentic Italian in the Dallas area. The food is always fantastic, decent service and the prices are stupid cheap. The ambiance is just ok, but it’s kinda nice that it’s informal so if you want to show up in your fatty sweatpants and shovel some amazing homemade pasta you can feel comfortable doing so. It is a truly hidden gem. My favs: the escargot appetizer, the gnocchi, tortellini and veal parm.

We were craving Italian, so thought we’d give Alforno’s a try after reading the reviews. Ordered carry-out. The interior seemed a bit drab and old. The linguini carbonara is absolutely amazing. Probably one of the best I’ve ever had. The chicken parmigiana was OK: not the best but not the worst. Chicken was a bit thin and dry, sauce wasn’t very flavorful. Linguni with red clam sauce was not good. Tasted very seafood-y. Wife loved their house salad. It’s definitely good. The carbonara alone is worth many trips back.

This is the closest thing we have found to When in Rome. Anyone remember that? It was delicious, and we have been searching for a go-to Italian place since it closed. This place is not a total dive, but definitely not what you expect when you pull up. Don’t let the strip mall scare you off. The entrees are worth it! The portions here are very large and every entrée is freshly made. Based on taste alone, there is no question that the sauces are homemade with real ingredients. Each entrée comes with a salad and garlic bread. The house dressing is unlike any other tomato basil vinaigrette I’ve ever had. It is tart, tangy, and delicious. The bread is not our favorite, and that’s saying something coming from my bread loving husband. There is nothing wrong with the actual bread, but the garlic spread has a graininess to it that seems like it is store bought. I’m sure it is not after being in here a few times, but it is just not our thing.(Other people seem to really like the bread, so take that for what you will.) We don’t really care for their appetizers after trying them all. There is nothing wrong with them, just nothing worth writing home about and again, the entrée portion is large enough that we are satisfied. The desserts are wonderful and the portion is fair for the $ 5. It is a toss up between the Tiramisu and the Cappuccino pie, both are clearly homemade with quality. My one complaint about this place is the price. $ 14+ per entrée of pasta and salad at a hole in the wall is a little steep. Most of the places like this in the area are BYOB, this one is not. With tip and tax we spend almost $ 50 for salad and pasta without an intimate setting or fun of BYOB. That being said, the service, and quality of food keep us coming back to support this lovely small business.

I visited this place while in town for a rehearsal dinner. First impression was not great. Physical location is very plain with generic lettering and color. Part of that was because it was in a shopping center. Then going inside i noticed how they decorated for that old, authentic, Italian feeling we see often in Italian restaurants. This place had a more outdated feel to it because most of the furniture and décor looked old. The food however was another story. I ordered the seafood ravioli which i had never tried anywhere else in my life. It was very good and the best part was that the sauce didn’t overpower the seafood filling. The filling was perfectly salty and the lobster really stood out. The salad was a regular garden salad but it had a small amount of pasta sauce in it. I had never tried a salad like that before but it was very tasty! The rolls were a bit disappointing because they were pretty hard and dry even though they were warm. Very generic rolls. The service was excellent and our server was even Italian. She used her accent to her advantage and made us laugh a couple of times since she knew we found it interesting she was Italian. I would definitely visit this place in the future for some good Italian food. I would definitely call their food«authentic» Italian.

We have been coming to Alfornos for years and have always enjoyed their hearty Italian food. Within this last year the restaurant was remodeled and improved the atmosphere immensely. We typically go on Sunday afternoon but this last week decided to go on a Friday and were very pleasantly surprised to hear live music which we enjoyed along with our delicious food. Highly recommend!

Fabulous!!! Best garlic bread or rather knots ever!!! They have really great beer here as well. This is the best Italian restaurant I’ve been to in DFW. This place truly is a hidden gem! I ordered their chicken Alfredo pasta, it came with a few roasted veggies and in the pasta was spinach and cherry tomatoes cut in half. The portions were large enough for leftovers!

This Jersey girl can get some amazing and real Italian food here! Don’t even get me started on their Eggplant Parm!!! I’m a finicky eater when it comes to Italian and even more so with eggplant and theirs is so good. The wait staff are really friendly and the service is fast but not so fast you feel rushed. We’ve(family) have been going there since 2006 and are never disappointed.

Been coming here for 10 years and never know why. Food is tasty but the service, experience, and ambiance are horrible. Slow surly wait staff can’t make up for the food. Probably won’t be back

I have counted on this place to be a reliable Italian treat when I visit family in the Dallas area. My most recent visit was an introduction to their highly praised Veal Marsala. I have only two words: get it. Okay, another two words: enjoy it. It is some of the best I have had, and the side of pasta was just right, with a great red sauce. Even the salad with house dressing was enjoyable, and often that is just a throwaway to add to a meal. My companions asked for a cup of the house dressing in which to dip their garlic rolls. Good idea!

Great neighborhood Italian restaurant! We love the NY style pizza, manicotti, and seafood ravioli. All are made very well with authentic ingredients, which was surprising given the staff is entirely Russian/Eastern European! Good, quiet atmosphere inside, usually have live music Friday evenings.

My wife and I stopped in here after reading some of the reviews on Unilocal. For the price, you absolutely cannot find a better Italian restaurant. The food was excellent. Our server was excellent. There were plenty of items on the menu from which to choose, but not so many as to be overwhelming. There was also an older gentleman playing both classic Italian and Spanish tunes on a nylon-string guitar and singing. Everything was just right. I had the penne a la vodka and my wife had the chicken Alforno. Both were very tasty, and we took the leftovers home. We will definitely be back.

My first time experience was a gratifying lunch. Mom and Pop feel to this place. Entrees are served with a salad and bread. Had the seafood ravioli with the tomato basil sauce — good overall but missing something to put it over the top. Quiet Monday lunch with only one or two other tables. Quick service. Will definitely come back to try other dishes.

I got the spaghetti proviniale. This dish has a great white wine sauce that really makes the whole dish. Often at Italian places I feel overwhelmed and often sickened by the heavy sauces. The white wine sauce on this dish is not heavy or creamy, but very flavorful. The vegetables were very well cooked, and whole dish worked very well. I scarfed that down. Another great thing, is that the bread and salad they bring you are generous. I ate there with my wife, and she got a tomato basil sauce with her salad which was outstanding. Now in Dallas, this place might not get four stars. But for the Flower Mound area this is very, very good food. This is local place, which is nice, because everything else around here seems to be a chain, and it does have a nice local feel. Very nice staff, nice atmosphere-these seems like it could be warm and close. I was there at 11 am but this seems like it could be a really nice place to share family dinner. Overall, recommended.
