As good as dining in Mexico. Great Carne and mole. Service was attentive and pleasant. Love the new location.

We came in on a whim with no expectations and were pleasantly surprised. The chips and salsa(s) are tasty and delicious, my whole fried fish special was absolutely delicious and ginourmous. Service was good — they are new and trying really hard and the food it’s fresh and authentic. Not your usual tex mex mush that many places serve. Welcome addition to Flourtown. As a piece of advice I would suggest the manager(?) chill out a little. He was a little intense and hovering around a bit too much — made the servers anxious and kind of was a buzz kill. Just sayin’ :)

Food was fabulous and the waitress was outstanding… I think I was insulted in Spanish by the owner… However, I understand Spanish! I was complimenting him on the new location and the wonderful meal… Walking away I think he called me a name that was completely uncalled for. Doesn’t change the quality of the food but I won’t be back. When we were leaving my friend and I waited for our husbands while they got the cars and he said nothing to us… sat and watched tv staring straight ahead. Weirdest of all dining experiences and it was a birthday celebration… Seriously not the way you should be treated as a patron. And I could have confronted him… He would have only denied it so I didn’t bother.

Came into my meal with zero expectations and left pleasantly surprised. Started with a shared order of Buenas Nachas, a simple but tasty mix of chips with cheese, black bean purée, and pico and sour cream on the side. Found it a bit weird that the sides were not atop the nachos. Also, give me guac(on everything) or give me death. My entrée presented quite a dilemma. All of the salads sounded great. The soups looked solid. There were even numerous vegetarian options, a rarity at most Mexican spots. Ultimately, I decided to give the veggie fajitas a shot. Super tasty with a great mix of veggies. Though they didn’t come out on a sizzling skillet(the skillet is half of the fun) and they lacked the ol’ one two punch of grilled bell peppers and onions, they were well prepared and very fresh. Pro-tip: Plan to eat with the blue hairs and you can avoid the crowd.

It was very crowded. First good sign. Seated quickly. Ordered calamari as app. Shrimp with mole enchilada as dinner. Sister ordered skirt steak with mole enchilada as her’s. The calamari was the BEST calamari I have ever had! Tender, not overly breaded. The shrimp with mole enchilada was excellent as was my sister’s. The skirt steak was amazingly tender. We will both be back. Service was very attentive, especially since they were extremely busy on a Friday night. And the free margaritas was a nice touch. It’s too bad we had to rush to make it to a movie! Next time we will make sure we can savor it! Highly recommend!

Always love coming here. Food is authentic fresh so flavorful. Margaritas amazing. Anything from this restaurant is amazing, delicious, and then best kept secret that needs to be told to everyone.

We were not impressed. The eight dollar guacamole that had crema or sour cream added was not good. I had a fish taco that tasted fishy. Not good either. The Rollo Pollo wasn’t bad, nor were either of the salmon dishes. My husband ordered enchiladas and he was not impressed. Very pricey for the quality or lack thereof.

The main dishes were barely ok. The appetizers were not. The chicken nachos had blobs of unseasoned black beans and shreds of chickens and globs of cheese, dry and bland. The dorados were fried round tortillas filled with unseasoned ground chicken and some squiggles of sour cream and red sauce. The cheese quesadilla had a small scoop of cheese and was barely browned. The 2 pork dishes were horrible, a blob of unseasoned black beans and pork. 2 entrees which tasted identical were actual different dishes. Fajitas were adequate but served on a plate not a griddle and we only got 3 tortillas. The owner and one of his waiters were separately laying all over my son in law and grandson on at least 3 different occasions trying to turn on the A.C. and the owner was rude when my son in law made a comment about people crawling all over him without appology from the owner. The sound level was incredibly loud. The server was terrific. $ 101 for a very horrible experience. Go to Taco Bell, get better food and no rude, arrogant owner. This is the first time we have eaten at Tamarindos and the last last. awful experience, awful owner, great server.

I was almost convinced by all Unilocal’s ‘nattering nabobs of negativism’ to pass this place up, but fortunately I and my party decided it deserved to be given a try. We were all impressed and delighted by the quality of the food. The service was reasonably attentive, and we ate well. My skirt steak was a little rubbery, and I had to ask to be brought a steak knife. But it was seasoned and presented in such a way that I was glad of having several teeth left in my mouth with which to chew it. The complimentary margaritas were delicious and refreshing. I’ll definitely go again, and soon!

I’m giving this restaurant 2 stars generously because I liked our server. Everyone seemed to enjoy the«free margaritas». The menu was littered with pretty expensive Mexican food items… None of which seemed to translate well on the plate. I had the duck tacos as an appetizer/entrée and was very disappointed. They were more like duck egg rolls but there was no flavor whatsoever. One person at our table had the very large whole fish which was the special of the day. That was actually pretty tasty. Everybody else had entrées that were smothered in sauce and people were complaining on the car ride home… My husband is still complaining. I thought it was pretty disappointing that they don’t offer free chips and salsa to the table. We had some nachos to share at the table that were minimal and unappetizing. I felt this way about the octopus and calamari as well. My brother had the«fajitas» that were basically just a plate of random meats and some vegetables. They were not special or good. In this day and age there are many amazing Mexican restaurants cropping up all over the place… The King of Prussia Mall has a new great one, downtown Wayne PA has 2 Mexican restaurants. With Restaurants like Distrito in Philadelphia i’m not sure how this restaurant stays open. I think I would’ve done better going to Chili’s which is something I would never do on a big group night out. They for sure need to pull back on over saucing their food, maybe minimizing their menu to a few items that they know how to do well and cut the prices. It’s great to have BYOB restaurants that offer free margaritas but they can’t rest on that alone.

This is one of my favorite restaurants in the Philly area. I go every time I am in town visiting family. Yes, prices are high — just expect that when you come. Soooo worth it. Tonight was my first time at the new location. The swordfish was melt in your mouth good, and the fajitas extremely juicy and flavorful. The free margaritas are sweet and strong and plentiful. The owner and the staff are attentive and kind. I highly recommend this place if you are looking for an upscale, Mexican experience.

Not just a restaurant… An experience. Rich and authentic art and cuisine. Great atmosphere. Most tender seafood I’ve ever had, no exaggeration.

Three and a half stars. It wasn’t bad by any means, but it wasn’t impressive. Bonus points for the free margaritas with dinner, which were tasty but a little on the sweet side for me. The owner was also super friendly and personable, which I appreciated. This is an «upscale» Mexican spot, and as such does not serve free chips & salsa on the table. I’m also told that in their old location they served some items in big hot stone molcajete bowls. I love a molcajete bowl and was planning to order something served that way, but it appears in their new location these are not available. Bring them back! They rule! It was also quite cold in the restaurant(it was November when I visited). My food, however, was pretty tasty. I got the steak and chicken mixed fajitas and the meat was great, guac and red salsa were killer, and the black beans weren’t bad but a little on the stiff/dry side. I’d come back when in the area, but wouldn’t go out of my way for it. South Philly really spoiled me with amazing Mexican food and I’d rather go out of my way to go back to the old hood and get some incredible and cheap Mexican food at one of my old joints.

I used to go to the other location. I was not that impressed so when someone suggested trying it again at their new location in Flourtown I was hesitant. The new location is perfect. You definitely get what you pay for. The meal was great. I got the carne de elote which was cooked perfectly. Definitely our new goto Mexican restaurant in the are. I highly recommend it.

My husband and I have been going to Tamarindos for 10+ years since it is very near to where we live and serves marvelous food. We love it. The FREE margaritas are terrific, the food is wonderful and we have come to know and Love the sweet staff(which to me is very important). We have just come from their new location in Flourtown and find it cozy and lovely and I know the owner will continue to tweak it as he did his former location.

We’ve been going to Tamarindos for years and every time we go, the service, food and fun just gets better. Their staff knows our group and treats us like family. They always answer our questions, meet any special requests and never leave us unattended. Food is awesome. It’s fresh, tasty and always sure to please. Trust me when I say it’s not your standard Mexican fare. Margaritas are free and always being refilled. Prices are great. For our group of 10 it came out to $ 65 per couple including the tip. If you’ve never been here, stop on by. You won’t be disappointed. If you haven’t been here in a while or may have had a bad experience, give it a try again.

Just had dinner here tonight. The«free-margarita» mention in the reviews had me want to check it out and from all the terrible reviews, I had to ‘see’ or myself and… iIt doesn’t hurt that it’s literally 2 minutes away from my Aunt’s house and my mom and I were craving some Mexican. My mom and I walked in ahead of the dinner rush. We were the first ones in and seated around 5:10PM. The servers were dimming the lights, lighting the candles and looking like they were ‘firing up’ for dinner service. The place was ‘cute’ and an ‘authentic’ Mexican vibe inside. Decoration, table spacing and display seemed to all fit. As we were seated, the server politely filled our water and said she would be back. We ordered chips and guacamole as an appetizer, Cesar Salad and Chicken&Steak Fajitas to split the both of us. The prices were a bit steep but«hey if the food is as good as the price, the dollar signs fade out». So as we ordered, the place ‘slowly’ but surely started to get packed. One by one, parties of 2 or 4 were being seated in our area. In our minds, we «beat» the dinner rush and well, we ordered probably 5 – 10 minutes groups behind us… We received our orders however, 15 – 20 minutes after a few parties that came after us… Maybe they were spending extra time to perfect our dishes? The chips and guacamole did come out. While it was tasty, it really seemed like a portion for one. Small for portion of two and priced at $ 7.95. As I was sitting there talking with my mom, thinking about how the portions were small«but at least they are handing out free margaritas»… they were dishing these«crazy SWEETCAVITY causing margaritas» like it was a free pamphlet of some sort. They kept coming out and refilling it and I was like… eh, seems like sugar water more than anything. But as I was still sitting there, waiting for our food … to only see other tables continuing to be served — the thought crossed my mind that these«margaritas» are probably being dished out because the restaurant people to ‘loosen’ up a bit or something as things were just a bit of a wait. Might as well booze them up right? Now I’m probably being a bit extreme but I felt as our food did finally hit the plate… portion size combined with overall taste — it seemed the prices were a bit lofty and didn’t match the latter. The chicken&steak fajitas were delicious… tasty, but I mean if you see the pictures I posted, it wasn’t eye catching nor something I will remember as «I have to come back for that»… Would I say it’s a 1 star? no… 2? maybe… but 3 seems fair because it was the only mexican restaurant within a 10−15mile radius that popped up that was convenient to try out. A bit pricey for my tasting once again… but eh, wasn’t horrible.

I have to say that for some reason the food at Flourtown is better than their old place in Blue Bell. We went on a Tue at 7 both the heavy rain and election day made seating very easy. Our waiter(red hair, from Costa Rica) was great… forgot his name Soup: (Sopa Elote…$ 7.20 Roasted corn and poblano pepper; garnished with sour cream, cilantro and croutons.) Was very good flavor, pretty pronounced acidity(lime juice?) great depth. not a huge portion Main dish #1 (Carne Bandera…$ 21.00 Marinated skirt steak topped with an avocado cream and a mix of Spanish onion, jalapeño and red bell peppers.) Skirt and Flank both often can be a little chewy, but the flavor is so worth it. This was a descent portion size, cooked to perfection. Sides were all good. Rice just the right texture and flavor. Beans are not at all bland like some places. Lots of depth. Main dish #2 (Tinga de Puerco…$ 16.95 Pork cooked in chipotle and chorizo. Served with rice, beans and plantain bananas.) Pork was not at all dry like can happen. Great flavor profile. Definitely some heat. Descent portion size also. Sides all good. I liked the plantian, not fried in butter or overly sweet, also not the more starchy green variety. I also wanted to mention that some said the Margaritas were overly sweet. I did find that to be the case at the old place, however this time they were not. It could also be that it was a slow night, and the ice diluted it? Will try another time as well. The presentation of the main dishes was beautiful The décor and overall vibe was excellent. Definitely more upscale vibe. No stereotypical Mexican music or décor. More classy No question the prices are a bit higher to compensate for the«free» Margarita But, was a great meal and vibe
