I am sadden by the closing of Dee Dee’s. I like coming in on Sundays for breakfast and it was something different in the neighborhood. Good food, great staff and cool décor is now a distant memory.

So sorry this place closed. What an asset to the neighborhood. Great food and a friendly, helpful staff Hope another bar doesn’t take it“s place. The area has enough of them.

Like this place! The food and décor are fantastic. Very kid friendly. The staff was a bit overwhelmed — only drawback. Try the cornbread chili Mac and cheese!

When Dee Dee’s opened it was one of my favorite new places. It had a great menu, and as a pesquatarian(I eat fish and veggies but not pork, beef, poultry, etc.) there were different options to eat before diving into the ice cream. Sadly after coming back here after a while it has changed. The menu is over priced, and my only options now are grilled cheese and fried shrimp. The food was okay but my meal was way over priced. The service is pretty good. I wouldn’t come back though

I came to Dee Dee’s on a Sunday morning. My mother, sister, and I were looking for decent breakfast and were tired of going to the same old diners. I Unilocaled and this popped up right in the area. Can’t beat location. We found municipal parking half a block away and parked safely. We were seated immediately upon entry. At first glance we were pleasantly surprised. The place is adorable. It’s just a really cute spot. The seating around the bar counter is a real old school vibe but doesn’t look dated. Can something be modern and vintage and the same damn time? This place is. A lot of white furniture and a nice clean floor made us feel comfortable and totally cozy in this place. They have these huge morals on the wall of throwback Belmont which was cute. A nice slice of history with your breakfast. There were only two negatives I had about this place. For one, we sat entirely too long waited ofr our server to come get our drink orders. After finally taking drink orders we had to wait another long time before she took food orders. That whole process could have been done at one time but she went away so quickly we didn’t get a chance to tell her we were ready to order food. The second thing is the menu. Sorry, the organization of the menu. Its like one long list which was difficult for me to read lol I felt so stupid looking at it lol It was all English but the list set up just wasn’t the best. I feel like they could have made that look a little better. Moving on the positives! Our waitress was pretty good. Aside from the long wait she was attentive and friendly. Warm smile and all the staff seem to know the people that frequent the place. They played with babies and all that good stuff. Even sang a happy birthday. It felt like one big family. Now food and beverages. My mom said her coffee was delicious. My sister and I both ordered the hot chocolate which was amazing! Real chocolate and you could taste it. So good. The whipped cream on top cooled it off and just made me Sunday. For eats, I ordered an omelette with pepper jack cheese and onions. Yummy. Taste like when my mom makes it and she’s awesome. My omelette came with home fries and white toast. We ordered a stack of buttermilk pancakes to split which were fluffy and buttery. So good. My mom and sister enjoyed their bacon and eggs. Over all it was a delightful breakfast in a nice local spot. We’ll definitely be coming back.

This place took forever to open. For months there was a coming soon sign. There was so much hype for this place and when it finally opened… everyone realized it is nothing more than an overpriced diner. The food is good, but I really don’t see anythig special about it. Especially for the price it goes at. Some of the punks working there can be annoying too

Visited again, everything was excellent! Best burger I’ve had in a long time, cooked perfectly to my liking with grill marks. Special sauce and bun that held its shape. The fries have a crispy texture, served hot! Even the pickle had just the right acidity without being too sour. Our server was friendly and competent and the food came out fast. Everything about this place makes it the perfect old timey experience.

Mistake #1: The«hours» listed today on Unilocal are incorrect(all 7:00am openings) .Their«summer hours» are different, mostly opening later in the morning then indicated. Mistake #2: A place that serves«breakfast» cannot open so late at 9:00am on a Sunday. I was embarrassed to bring 3 guests with me at 8:15 to have breakfast there today, only to find you closed. You lost 4 customers. Others were also coming up to the doors only to find you closed as well. This is not a smart move on the part of any restaurant owner. Willie Diegel on «Restaurant Stakeout» would call this a FAIL.

I do love Dee Dee’s! Without a doubt, my favorite breakfast spot in Floral Park. You can’t go wrong with the chocolate chip pancakes– very well-sized, fluffy, and chocolatey! My friend loves the banana walnut pancakes. Each plain pancake stack starts at a standard $ 7, and you can choose to add fillings/toppings for $ 1 each. In my opinion, the best coffee in Floral Park! The fact that they bring the milk in mini old-fashioned milk jugs just adds to it. Scrambled eggs are always a solid side order. My only issue is that the food delivery can sometimes take a little while, so come prepared for that. I am usually not disappointed with my meal, but turnaround time is something for Dee Dee’s to work on. My high school friend and I love to meet here to catch up. The old-fashioned atmosphere, beautifully painted mural walls, and 50s style counter make up the charm of this place. They have great personal touches as well, from the chalkboard-written specials and milkshake menus above the counter, to the old pictures of the Floral Park of yesterday that hang throughout the restaurant. Definitely stop in if you are in the area! You won’t be disappointed.

See, the thing is I love me some breakfast. I really think it’s almost like finding the holy grail when you come across a great restaurant. I have found exactly 3 places in my lifetime that does breakfast food righetously. 1) Magnolia Pancake Haus in San Antonio, Texas 2) Kihei Café in Kihei Maui, Hawaii 3) Maureen’s Kitchen in Smithtown, Long Island New York. Now, you goons may not agree with my choices but breakfast places that are good have a few things in common: long lines, cash only, fast service, ample portions(relative to $) and great coffee. Amiright? With all that being said this place was eh… I know I am a quick judgey mcjudgerson judging places by the second I walk in but it is what it is . This place had a dank smell, the portions were small and that’s about all I can negatively say The plus sides were really nice atmosphere and a nice toilet. I took a nice poop in there and felt like I was squatting in a scene from a page out of a crate & barrel catalogue. Hrm, I had the French Toast and my wife had the banana pancakes. Both were blah. The coffee was ok. Enough said– go here. Poop in luxury.

I have been to this restaurant on many occasions since they first opened and am more often then not disappointed with not only my meal but the horrible service. I think it’s safe to say the service has actually gotten worse since the restaurant opened. I will say that the interior of the restaurant is amazing with a real 1950’s soda fountain atmosphere although that isn’t enough to make up for all the other negative aspects of this place. –The food takes well over 45 minutes to an hour to come out and comes out sporadically. –The servers aren’t properly trained and have trouble prioritizing tasks. –They are also very unapologetic about the long wait for the food and are very unattentive, even when the restaurant isn’t very busy. –Food is inconsistent. –Prices are a bit high considering quantity and quality. Being that this place is relatively close to my home and fairly new I have given it many chances to work out the kinks but I think this past experience was the last draw. Just to give you a little insight, we came in with our toddler for lunch today. We were greeted politely by our server and given water immediately. We placed our drink orders and they came shortly after. It all went downhill from here. We waited over 45 minutes for our meals, which were two burgers and a kids meal for my daughter. The server came over only once to say the food would be out shortly then disappeared for an extended period of time. My toddler was restless and hungry and finally got her meal after the long wait and it was cold and over cooked. My wife and I then waited an additional 10 minutes on top of the 45 minutes to get our burgers AND another 5 to get our fries. My burger bun was obviously burned on the top and bottom and the patty was over cooked. My wife’s burger was cooked as she asked but her bun was hard and stale. After we ate our meals because we were starving I ordered an iced coffee to go. Our server brought us the check and after another ten minutes of waiting returned to say they were out of iced coffee and he had to remove the coffee from the bill, which he returned shortly after. The waiting game then continued as we saw him do everything but take our bill. After we finally got his attention we were so happy to just leave! After all the trouble of today I feel that all that could be done is to never go back and to inform interested patrons of the reality of this place.

I was invited to meet up with a group of my friends at this place recently. I never been to this place but my mistake was that I didn’t read the reviews on Unilocal before I accepted the invitation. However, I wanted to go just to hang out with the girls and give this place a chance. Anyhow, I think the owners/managers must had read the reviews because they had stepped up their game for the better. At my table, the waiter was very professional and courteous. He continued to check on us and made himself available. It didn’t take long for us to be seat and we had reservations. There were many people having brunch around the time we were there but the service was consistent. I ordered the Cali Cob Salad which I received a large portion. The spicy ranch dressing was ok but I’m more of vinaigrette girl! One of my friends ate the eggs benedict and was satisfied with her meal. Two of the other ladies ordered burgers but asked the waiter to take it back since it was not cook long enough. But pretty much everyone ate everything off their plates. The food is ordinary American food that you find in an All American diner. The niche that this place is trying to create is the 1950’s style diner but their reputation is on the rocks because of the bad review. The prices were reasonable. I’m sorry to hear the place has bad reviews and I have been to crappy restaurants before. I suggest people to go back and give them another chance because it seems like they made a lot of changes with staff issues, and their operation.

The atmosphere has an old fashioned modern look to it. It’s adorable and I enjoyed the food. I came for breakfast twice and will consider coming another time to try something else.(But let’s be honest — it’s never too late for breakfast!) The pancakes were divine!

At the moment I am giving this restaurant four stars. I’ve only been here once and have eaten only one entrée. I went to Dee Dee’s because my friend really likes the place. She’s been here a few times. I gave it a try on a Thursday for lunch. I ordered the eggs Benedict with sauce on the side and a cup of tea. There was really nothing special about my meal. It’s a typical diner-style eggs Benedict. It’s not something that can be cooked wrong easily. So, the four stars is for the comfort this restaurant offers and trusting my friend’s taste.

Ok so I have been here a few times, and each time I go I’m half satisfied, and half disappointed. To start, I’ve ONLY been here on Sundays. Could this have anything to do with the lousy food? Maybe, but I would be surprised. The first time I came I ordered Quesadillas, and substituted shrimp for chicken(as I do not eat land meat). They were O K. The shrimp was a little too fishy for my palette. Usually I would speak up and say something. I didn’t, but that’s my fault, not theirs. Now on the side was a bean, corn, and onion salsa. It was ok, it actually was good with the Quesadillas, a little sweet, but it was a nice touch. I do wish I could’ve gotten 1) a little bit more of it, and 2) a traditional tomato salsa. I was able to get some cholula hot sauce, and I did ask for more of the bean salsa, but the woman forgot to bring it to me. Again, I didn’t say anything, but that’s my fault not hers. Another time I had fried zucchini sticks, which I generally LOVE. Well these were horrible, I couldn’t eat them unless I drenched them in ranch dip, and even with that I only managed to eat a few. Me and my friend split the cheese fries as well… another mess. I don’t know how fries can get messed up– cheese fries at that. They were soggy, and just tasted nasty. I’m thinking maybe their oil is old since all the fried food was terrible. Even the mozzarella sticks sucked. When I told the waitress about how horrible the fries were she kind of chuckled saying we probably got the last of the batch, and told us that starting the next day they would be serving hand cut fries from strait Idaho potatoes. Unfortunately, that didn’t help my friend and I. We didn’t eat them, and she did absolutely nothing to fix the issue. For that reason alone I lowered my stars from 3, to 2. The inside of this Belmont Stakes inspired luncheonette is really quite neat, clean, and bright. It’s not huge, but the seating is roomy. There’s bar style seating(not sure if they serve alcohol), the main seating which is comfortable with spacious booths, and a separate room in the front with tables and chairs. I do like the ice-cream«bar». There’s many different flavors of ice cream, as well as sundaes, and desserts(like cake and pie). And that brings me to the good part of my review: the sweets! If you’re going to come here, come for the sweets. I had a chocolate egg cream which was awesome! It’s lighter than a milkshake, as there’s no ice-cream in it, but still fluffy and tasty. For dessert me and my friend split the Cookie Monster Sundae which was really really good. It’s vanilla ice cream and cookies n’ cream icecream, with two giant cookies, chocolate syrup, whip cream, and chocolate chips. The only thing I would change about the sundae is the Vanilla ice cream, since the cookies n’ cream icecream is soooo much. I also tried this flavor Cookie Monster, which was awesome. I’m not sure why that one isn’t in the Cookie Monster Sundae, but it’s bright blue ice cream with cookie bits, chocolate chips, and Oreos– to name a few of the ingredients. Overall my experiences here have been ok. The service was good, the place is clean, the staff is nice, but the food is just not that great. I wouldn’t boycott this place completely because in the small town, this particular establishment is one that never lasts too long. There’s always new places opening and closing in this exact location. I do hope to see it stay open because of this reason, and as I already mentioned the dessert seems to be great. If I do go back, I’ll stick to that. Until I start seeing some better reviews, then maybe I’ll give the food another try.

Came here for the first time with my mom for a quick dinner. The place is really cute I’ll give it that. As we were being sat a server yelled at me asking us if we were sitting for dinner or ice cream and when I said dinner she deflated a little and made an annoyed face. As we sat we got a nasty look from a bus boy talking to the waitress who yelled the question at us and I overheard him say«the kitchen is closing» and huffed as he walked into the kitchen. He gave us nasty looks all night. Someone should teach the younger kids who work there manners and a little more about the restaurant business.

Dee Dee’s is definitely a place that was needed on Tulip. We have all the bars, now we have a place to brunch away the hangovers. I go about 1−2x a week, and since they opened in May the service has definitely improved. The staff is on the young side, so it also depends on which waitress you get. Gina(very young) and Maggie(seems to be the experienced one all the other waitresses turn to with questions) are both awesome, so ask to be seated in either of their sections. The place is absolutely beautiful. It’s vintage in a classier, more sophisticated manner than other throwback diners. The artwork throughout is awesome — local scenes and a room of Norman Rockwell prints. Next time I need to throw a little party, I’m using the Norman Rockwell room. Food is tasty, but yes, expensive. For breakfast any omelet is good. Their breakfast potatoes have decent flavor. When you ask for bacon or sausage to be well done, they mean it. Same with French fries — extra crispy means some will be burnt. Their normal is crispy enough for me. For lunch or dinner I’ve tried most of the sandwiches. Chicken salad and BLT’s are my favorites so far. So, overall, Food is great, service can be great, the ambience is great. Don’t go at a super super busy time(like right after Mass gets out on Sundays) and you’ll have a find time.

While I welcomed the opening of Dee Dee’s as it is something Floral Park needs, I was a bit disappointed with the prices. First, the design is beautiful. Looks like it is straight out of the 1950’s with the white subway tile and the tin ceiling. The art work is vintage era new york and long island. The servers are all dressed in sparkling white duds and are extremely energetic. As for the food, I give it a solid 3 stars. I ordered an omelet and some fresh fruit on the side. The omelet was cooked well and was a decent size, but a bit pricey at $ 10. The fresh fruit was a saucer sized plate with a few strawberries and blueberries and it cost $ 6! The coffee, however, is quite good! Its a nice looking place that seems to draw a family crowd. If you are looking for some place new to go to, then give Dee Dee’s a shot.

I was really looking forward to this place opening. Last Sunday my bf and I were passing by and stopped in for a late breakfast. Waited a few minutes for a table, sat down and were served our coffees fairly quickly. Ordered egg sandwich and an omelette, fairly simple. We waited on that food for almost an hour, were literally just going to leave but they promised us it was coming, that there was a backup in the kitchen. 10 more minutes pass. Food finally comes… and it was awful. IDK how you mess up eggs, but they tasted terrible. The manager did take one meal off the bill, which was nice, but it doesn’t make up for the service and food.(not to mention they are a bit on the pricey side.) It is such a shame bc the place itself is lovely, very nicely put together. Won’t be going back there. :(

My baby cousin was waiting about a year or so, anxiously talking about this really cool place that was opening up. We finally decided to go and give it a shot for lunch. Really nice décor, and I love my man Frank Sinatra playing in the background. The strawberry milk shake was awesome!(The only reason for the 2 stars.) We ordered 3 medium well burgers, which came back well overdone — borderline burnt. Actually, they were burnt! Wanted to send it back, as I was very hungry and really wanted a good burger, but my cousins insisted we play nice. Service was somewhat friendly, but not very personal. Our waiter seemed to rush off quickly and then would take ages to come back. Overall, it wasn’t a pleasant experience — costly too. Maybe with time it’ll get better. I will probably stop in for an awesome milkshake again — after getting food elsewhere.
