Ordered the BBQ Bacon Burger today. The flavor and cook was good but the concept is impractical. The burger is nearly 5in tall, even when squashed, and is impossible to fit into your mouth. I tried a toothpick to hold it together but that failed and then the bun started falling apart so I ended up with sauce all over my hands and a burger I couldn’t eat for $ 15.50. Totally frustrating and not worth it

Really enjoyed our first visit to the Grill Shack. Roseanne, the owner, was our server, and made the dinner extra special! Her staff was also attentive and friendly in every way. The calamari dinner was offered to us as an appetizer and as fresh as the calamari was, it was also extremely tender. Everything is made to order! We ordered burgers and they were extraordinary… Roseanne’s son came over and introduced himself as the creator of the burger special, which my husband had and thoroughly enjoyed. It was a bacon, grilled cheese burger! Yummy!

I’ve been there twice. The service is excellent — very attentive and friendly. The food is hit or miss. The fries were really good. We also had bread pudding which was outstanding. Other items were disappointing. My burger — which I ordered on a gluten free bun — was more bread than burger. Another time we got a shrimp & pasta special, but it had no flavor. We also got chicken sandwiches and the chicken was dry. There might be other things on the menu that I’d like better, but I’m not going to waste the time and money it would take to find out. I wouldn’t avoid this place, but I wouldn’t go out of my way to go there.

Absolutely love this place! The atmosphere is warm and friendly. I love the décor. The food is incredibly fresh. We ate here two weekends in a row and couldn’t stop talking about our meal the entire week. The wait staff is very friendly and really took the time to make us feel welcome. You need to try this place! We’ll be back again next weekend(that’ll be 3 weeks in a row)!

I have been wanting to try this place for quite a while, and based on the good Unilocal reviews I decided to give it a go. Completely disappointing experience from start to finish. The menu. Apparently these menus are new. The order of the menu is really bizarre. For example, you have appetizers, followed by kids menu, followed by dessert, followed by drinks and coffee. Where are the entrees? They are on the back at the very end of the menu and populate approximately 5% of the real estate on the menu. Very strange to lay things out this way. Also be careful on the prices. My wife and I each added fries to our order for $ 4. When we got the bill, they were $ 4.50. My wife ordered the $ 5 cup of chili, and they charged us $ 4. Which brings us to the next point. The prices. I want to point out two big ones that we noticed immediately. $ 15 for a dozen wings(which specify on the menu that they are made with Frank’s Hot Sauce). I can walk down the street to the Shaker Café and get a dozen wings with a selection of house-made sauces for $ 10.95! There isn’t a place in town that charges $ 15 for a dozen wings. I ordered the wings. 6 on a plate. Literally just six wings on a plate, no garnish(carrots and celery was brought out before the wings, which is odd). $ 8. The wings were dreadfully overcooked. The other example? A bucket of fries for $ 9! These prices are just too much. My wife and I had soup with two sandwiches, I added the wings and a diet soda. Our bill after tip was $ 67. That is way too much for what we got. My wife and I both started with chili and soup respectively. Both of our soups were completely bland and devoid of any salt. Both of them had potential, but the lack of salt is a huge problem for me. For our main, we each got chicken. My wife got hers over greens with black beans, cheese and avocado. While the ingredients generally were fresh, the meal was bland and overcooked. There was no cohesion to the dish. My sandwich was on a stale roll, and the chicken was completely dry and overcooked. The service could be described as attentive, but maybe a little too attentive. I don’t need to be asked if I like everything every 5 minutes. It is just a bit too much. I might give the place another shot only because I am local, but honestly the things I mentioned here really perturbed me. The menus, the prices, the bland food. It just tells me that details are not important to management, and that bothers me as much as the bland food. I would say proceed at your own risk. Hopefully they figure things out start taking a look at the product they are putting out.

Tiny place and limited menus but very tasty. Ask for the Cajun shrimp bacon cheeseburger. I think they took it off their menu, but was able to make it when I asked. I had that and the zucchini fries and both were delicious!

Had lunch here while I waited for my car to be detailed at Street Worthy up the street. Yikes. I was pumped when the waitress told me they had gluten free wraps and sandwich bread in stock. I ordered the veggie wrap. Came with portobello mushrooms and mango, thought that was an interesting combo. Our food came out SUPER quick which was good because I was starved. By the time I was halfway into my first half of the wrap(which was kind of flavorless, no dressing), the waitress came up to me and took my plate away. «Sorry, there was a mistake, this isn’t gluten free.» My stomach hurt later in the day as I’m gluten sensitive, but good thing I don’t have celiacs! I could have made a huge stink at the restaurant but that’s not my style. Was hoping we’d at least get a discount on the check but nope! Also, we ordered the zucchini strings and they never came. Definitely not recommending this place to anyone in the Flemington area.

It’s still amazing! We came back hoping for the same excellent service we had the first time, and they did not disappoint! The pulled chicken nachos were amazing, the salmon special was perfection, and the flourless cake was so smooth and delicious! 100% satisfied and will be returning very soon! The burgers are excellent and I might suggest topping it with chili!!!

Have been here twice for dinner with my family. Although the menu is limited, don’t let that deter you. The soups are delicious and the specials are unique. Not many tasks here, but I’ve never waited as i have come mid week. The service is good, not great, but always friendly.

Food was good. Chili bacon cheese burger was not on the menu. $ 15.50 a burger & fries an additional $ 4.50. Overall service was good.

I wish I could give them 0 stars. The sandwiches are small, overpriced, and don’t come with chips or fries. The fries, which were an extra $ 4.50, were bland and cold by the time the server finally remembered to bring them. We mentioned a soy allergy, yet the server didn’t know that they use canned mayonnaise, which had soybean oil. The website says all ingredients are made fresh, which clearly isn’t the case. I had the turkey sandwich, and the bread(which is made by a bakery) was greasy and soft. This was the first time I ever had soggy rye bread.

We met family here for lunch recently. They live in NNJ and we’re in PA so Flemington is the halfway point. We had no idea just how small this place is so if you have a large group, make a reservation! I’ll start by saying everyone else loved their meals and wants to go back. Unfortunately I had the lone bad experience. I had been craving a burger since our favorite burger place closed. I was eyeing up the burgers at other tables and they looked amazing. Two other people in my group got burgers and if mine had looked like theirs I’d be singing their praises. But where theirs were thick patties perfectly cooked medium-rare, piled high with toppings, mine was a thin, gray, flavorless puck with what looked like bacon trimmings rather than slices of bacon. I would have sent it back but we’d already waited 40 minutes for our food and I had a terrible hunger headache. Truly, though, every other dish that came out of the kitchen while we were there looked fantastic. The sliders, the grilled cheese, the BLT, the nachos, a club sandwich — they all looked amazing. I don’t know what happened with my burger. We also had some service issues — we waited a long time to place our order, I already mentioned how long we waited for the food, they never brought milk for the coffee one person in our group ordered, extra napkins, lemons, etc. took a long time to come. For such a small place they seemed to have issues with timing. I know they say everything is made fresh but I hope kitchen isn’t always so slow. But, since everyone else loved their food and the experience, I’m giving it 4 stars with a plan to go back to, hopefully, have a good experience myself.

So this place was quite a surprise after so many restaurants have came and went in the same location(which is a great spot)… But I’m happy to say that this place is the real and has everything it takes to stick around for awhile. I would like to start off by saying that the owner(or manager) is actively involved in running the restaurant and manager the customer experience and she is killing it! Very attentive to each and every customer and you can tell that she really cares. Next up is the food… I had the club sandwich which was huge, perfectly assembled, and delicious while my date had the macaroni and cheese from the kid’s menu(daddy-daughter date night with my 8yr old). I would like to add that the menu says the mac-n-cheese its made with real Velveeta cheese and by golly it’s the truth! We also had the calamari which was tender and perfectly cooked. Overall, I’m happy to see a great restaurant finally taking advantage of this beautiful Location!

Just had a great meal at the grill shack. Really cute place very friendly staff. Everything homemade never frozen as is evident by the amazing fries. I had a black bean quinoa burger and requested it over mixed greens which they happily did and it was so good. I would call it the happy vegetarian. My sister had the triple decker grilled cheese and fries looked grilled to perfection. Also a great cup of coffee and really enjoyed the music and atmosphere. Can’t wait to come back and try breakfast.

Just went here last week and thought it was delicious for lunch. Great burger cooked just right with mushrooms and onions. I thought the fried zucchini was to oily and not recommend ordering. Chopped salad looked delicious and the veggie burger got rave reviews. They’ve got two seats to sit outside and a quaint dining room.
