What a terrific addition to the downtown Flemington dining scene. We visited on a Thursday night, with a reservation at 7:30pm. When we arrived, a few minutes early, we found that the entire place was occupied, with a private party that had started at 5:30pm. The proprietor, who greeted us, invited us to sit in the comfortable chairs near the front door, and promised that the group would clear out and we would have our table soon. We were also visited by Chef Jean, who told us that she had plenty of good food left! It all came true, including the great food. My husband had the 3-item charcuterie, which I helped with, and I started with the marinated anchovies – delicious. As my main course, I ordered the Wagyu Steak Diane, which is cooked«sous vide». It was perfect. My husband ordered the stuffed shrimp, also excellent. Next time we may try the cheese board. We were waited on by a lovely, knowledgeable woman, who made sure we had what we needed, but didn’t hover. We’ll be back!

What a nice find. A great addition to Stangl Rd in Flemington. The food is fresh, tasty and definitely Italian. We had the Italian platter that was outstanding. The buffalo mozzarella was extremely fresh and very creamy. Yum. We went tapas style tonight and everything was great. If you are in the area you must stop in and give it a try.

The Beef Diane sous vide was absolutely amazing!!! Best we have ever had. The atmosphere is quaint and comforting and the chef is fabulous. The ravioli of the day has yet to disappoint.

There is a new place in Flemington called Café Cicchetti. Recently opened, this BYOB café serves up what is a take on a Venetian dish called Cicchetti. We Americans might think of it more as an Italian style of Spanish tapas. Small dishes of meats, cheeses, vegetables, pastas, olives, seafood items. Many things. By way of disclaimer I must state that my wife and I have been regular customers of the chef — Chef Jean — since 2002. So you know we have found her to be good at what she does for a long time now Formerly of Andiamo in Lambertville and Za in Pennington Chef Jean now brings her Culinary Institute of America training to Café Cicchetti. The Café has a Charcuterie menu and a cheese menu of small plates as well as some olive, roasted peppers and such vegie items. A mix of items. The focus is on small plates. Also mains if you want. Pasta and such. For starters we had a Charcuterie plate of three meats — Serrano ham, Cappacollo, and Salumi al Barolo(which was really good). This came with three nice warm assorted bread rolls. Next an order of(mini) crab cakes, I think there were four, maybe five. Remember this is small plate style. Next a special — Lobster ravioli. There was the ravioli along with pieces of lobster meat and a big piece of lobster claw.(Not the whole claw — but a BIG piece.) After that, an interlude of white bean hummus. For the wrap up we got the sausage special of the day — Duck with foie gras on a bed of quinoa and wild rice. It was really good. Although we wanted to try them we passed on the Shrimp sautéed with red chili flakes and garlic salt because we were just too full. Total price for five items — $ 57 and a few cents with the tax added on. The Lobster ravioli special was $ 17 and the Duck sausage special was $ 8. So average prices other than HIGH end specials are $ 8 or $ 9 and there is enough for two people to share in each item. Our server was Grace who showed much grace and attention throughout the meal. We were never left wanting for attention. Although it is a bit of a drive form our Trenton area home to Flemington we will be back. Open Tuesday to Saturday lunch and dinner. Sunday for brunch. They do need to get a real restaurant web page. Soon. This is what they have now.
