I’m not really sure why this place has any bad reviews but I looked at the dates and saw they’re from over 3 years ago. I don’t eat fish very often, and I’m picky when it comes to ordering fish. Our server was patient and helpful in our choices. I tried new things and I really liked everything(which is saying something) You can tell the general manager does an impeccable Job accommodating guests along with guiding the staff to provide the best experience possible. Our server was great too, her name was Emily. She was patient and kind, and gave us excellent service. We ordered the black Samarai, spicy tuna, rainbow, joy, and vegas rolls. The Vegas roll wasn’t even on the menu but we asked if they were able to make it and they did! They said it was actually going to be coming out soon on a new menu. I give the rating 5 stars because of the freshness of the fish, the excellent service, and they’re willingness to accommodate our requests.

Went to monsoon expecting a simple sushi place but turned out to be one of the better sushi places I’ve been too. They went above and beyond. Our server carli rocked she was very attentive and made sure our experience was very enjoyable. She had a great personality and was very friendly. Our sushi chef chad was amazing and did a very great job on our sushi and even explained some of the fish and how it’s prepared to us. He was very nice and made our experience well worth the trip. Thanks Carli and thanks Chad. Food was awesome, I’m definitely going to return.

This place was amazing!!! We were in town from PHX and We just so happened to stop in Sat night 1÷9÷16 they told us we would only have 10 mins to order due to an event they had. Even with 10 mins they still took their time to answer questions and didn’t rush us. We ordered sushi and it was amazing!!! We ended up staying for the special event which was a drag show and it was truly a great night!!!

Went with a party of 6, not one of us enjoyed our meal. We ordered 6 entrees, sushi rolls and apprizers and everything was disappointing. Half of our food went uneaten. Meals were cold and the fish was not fresh. Wait staff was extremely friendly and accommodating but the food is just horrible. Would never go back.

I came here the other night with some friends after a day on the mountain and could not be happier with the food, service and overall atmosphere created here. Great stop for a quick bite and drink on happy hour, or a night out with the fantastic selection of both Chinese or Japanese food on the regular menu. Suggested dishes would have to be the Chicken Udon special(must request) and the Dragon roll.

Their service is really nice but their sushi is gross. And I only had a California roll. I’ve had better Cali rolls from a grocery store(it was a dire sushi situation ok!)

I absolutely love Monsoon! It has a great atmosphere to enjoy great quality food. My favorite part about coming to monsoon is seeing the«DOUBLETROUBLE» they are such a fun time and can really make your dine in experience a blast! Would recommend any and everyone to stop by!

Don’t waste your money and time in this restaurant. Food is overpriced. Meat is not flesh. Taste is bad. Service is just so so.

Had lunch here today with some friends. Ambience is nice, football game was on and they make good drinks. Now the food was ok. We had mongolian beef, general tsao chicken and spicy eggplant. The Mongolian beef had a good flavor spicy and savory at the same time, the green beans were perfectly cooked, but the beef we had to chew on for a while, it was hard haha. The spicy eggplant was not spicy I mean zero spice on it. It was bitter with alot of sauce 6 pieces of eggplant small amount of fugi mushrooms, but tons of green onions. It was not good at all had to put the mongolian sauce on it to be tolerable to eat. My friend said the gen tsao chkn was pretty good. Our waitier was ok, he could work on his customer service, but ive had worst. Ill come here again because they make good strong drinks.

We should’ve known what we’d be in for when a few local business gold just said«oh» when we told them where we were going for dinner.(Every one of them recommended a different place.) We loved the happy hour menu items & prices, so we went in. The front bar was empty of patrons & staff, but finally someone came out and told us to sit anywhere. We went in back to the sushi bar and sat down. There were very few people there, but it was a Monday night so no big deal. A very friendly waitress came right over to give us menus. We chose edamame, spicy tuna roll, and California roll. After we ordered, she told us there would be at least a 20 – 30 minute wait for sushi. What??? With a restaurant that was over half empty? Boo to that. She said she’d give us more time to look at the rest of the menu(stuff not on the happy hour side) and left. We left, too.

I came here last Saturday night with my bf we didnt eat here but we went to the drag show. It was so much fun, we’re from tempe and they dont have clubs like this. The drink were affordable I paid 13.00 for two mix drinks which on mill ave i would have paid $ 16. I dont know if they do drag shows every weekend but it was super fun. Plus the staff was friendly which is always a thing for me. We had a blast wish palaces like this were in the valley. It’s just a bunch of douche clubs.

Shit stick Sorority chick made sushi joint. If you ask for a delicious happy hour whiskey ginger I can tell you now they’ll serve you a tasty cocktail and claim its a whiskey ginger but at the same time they’ll also tell you this dark rum and coke looking concoction is made traditionally with sprite and a splash of Pepsi… UUUUMMMMM I can almost taste the ginger with my nose! Not. What kinda bar doesn’t serve ginger ale. Thanks for the blatant lie to the face bar tender, you’re a real charmer.

I am really surprised by the reviews of this place. They happy hour specials were great. We came for my birthday and overloaded on unique yummy sushi. The service is not great but the food is good. Ok the service sucks.

Not for the local lunch crowd. Waited 45 min for food that then came out cold. We had to ask for boxes just so we could have a lunch to eat once we got back to work. Alerted our server that there were issues, the manager didnt bother to come by, just threw a measly 20% discount at us. Bad call on his part, we wont be back.

I came here recently for a birthday party and was scared because the last time I came here(pre Unilocal), I really did not enjoy it much, so I was dreading coming here. However I am glad to report that to their credit, this place has vastly improved since then. The food here is above average. I remember there being a lack of flavor the last time I was here, so that was a vast improvement from before. Also, the prices are still reasonable. I ordered a chicken and broccoli dish, and some appetizers, all of which were under 15 dollars including tip. The restaurant itself is still pretty nice. It’s in a prime location and a very popular spot during the evening hours and at night so it can get crowded and noisy. However it does not become as noisy as some of the bars do. The service is good as well, no problems. The waitress was especially adept at refilling our waters, and she was also very friendly, despite how hectic it was that night. Still there are problems. The food here still does not live up to its name, and it could be a lot better. The selection of drinks can also be better as well, because while their happy hour prices are great, their selection of happy hour items is only ok. Still this is a good place to visit and I would recommend it as a stop downtown. However I would not come here as a regular if I were searching for good food for dinner. Its a good hangout spot though.

Honestly, it just wasn’t good. The sushi we got tasted like it came from a grocery store or gas station… Kung Pao chicken was sickly sweet, not how Kung Pao should be. Slow Sunday lunchtime service despite not being busy. Won’t be going back.

We went here for lunch today and sat on the patio. They weren’t too busy for a Saturday, surprisingly. Food was good and waitress was nice. I had sashimi. It was fresh, cold, delicious. I would’ve liked more daikon underneath the fish instead of the bed of greens. My sister got two rolls and said they were good. Nothing extraordinary but fresh fish and made well. Miso soup was«loaded». Too many toppings, not enough tasty broth! Overall, nice place, but doesn’t stand out among other restaurants.

My wife and I tried this last week on a whim. We were hungry and talking about Chinese food and this place appeared so we tried it. It’s a pretty funky place that reeks of a cross between trendy college eatery and a Chinese whore house with it’s floor to ceiling fire engine red drapes and black lacquer furniture. I liked that it opened out to the busy and vibrant street scene. The service staff seem mostly like young college students who were friendly enough. We ordered a couple of cocktails and some beers before ordering dinner. I had kung pao chicken and my wife ordered a curry thai dish she likes. We both agreed that the food was serviceable but short of great. It wasn’t bad but it tasted more like something from Panda Express than a gourmet Asian eatery. Overall, our meal was OK. Probably won’t return here as our favorite Chinese restaurant is in Sedona. Not bad though if you find yourself downtown in Flag and have a hankering for Chinese style food. It’s definitely NOT Asian fusion.
