I have eaten here for breakfast and a late afternoon snack and glass of wine during the week, and it really is lovely. Great view and good food. But recently I took a guest for Valentine’s Day dinner and the place was jammed, even at 5:15p. There are only hard surfaces in the restaurant’s walls, ceilings, and floors, and the decibel level was so high that my friend and I couldn’t hear each other even though I was leaning across the table with hands cupped behind my ears the whole time. I mean, it was literally PAINFUL! When the noise level goes up because people can’t hear each other, then everyone starts yelling and it gets higher and higher. We had a terrible, torturous time, even though the food was good, we couldn’t enjoy it.

A quaint oceanfront restaurant. Driftwood walls inside with lots of windows. Clean and spacious. The deck is where I want to be a next time but it was too cold today. The menu has all your favorites. But the bloody Mary is special. With a slim Jim, a large piece of pepper jack cheese, a gherkin pickle, olive, and lemon wedge. After breakfast we went for a walk on the pier which is right next to it. And saw dolphins surfing on the waves. There is plenty of parking on the street and across the street. A great beach town.

Nice divey bar/grill eatery with a woodsy beachy décor, similar to being in a vintage yacht. Food taste good and very large generous portion. Staff is very nice and attentive.

Today was the second time I’ve eaten at the funky pelican. We ate here a few weeks ago for breakfast & just missed breakfast this morning so we ended up having lunch. The hostess was very friendly and satisfied a great table Oceanside. I was told by locals that breakfast is great here and lunch is just OK — so I was disappointed that we missed breakfast. The last time I came here service was slow, and I felt that the portion size was small, but the food was very good so we decided to come back. Our waitress was efficient but not very friendly. I had the Mahi tacos which were very good. The sweet tea was terrible… The worst I’ve had in all my years of coming down to the south. My wife had the Jamaican chicken which also comes with shrimp which were not cooked over rice and beans… Not very impressive. Come for the view not for the food.

Great view of the ocean from most spots in the restaurant. I had breakfast here on a Sunday morning and it was good chow, very reasonable prices and decent service. I like the feel of the place, it’s feels just like the beach place it is. Give it a shot, you;ll be glad you did.

Me and a co-worker were in town for a training and wanted to try some different restaurants while on the main land. Our last night here we decided to go to the Flagler Pier and then head to a restaurant. We were going to get in the car when we saw the Funky Pelican and decided to try it. We walked in and the atmosphere was lovely. Very friendly staff greeted us and seated us right away. Our server came very quickly. She knew the menu and suggest different foods and drinks. We ordered the Queso Blanco which was awesome. The fresh jalapeños with the beef and pico was amazing. Then we had the Jamaican Chicken with red beans and rice. This was out of this world good. It came with jerk chicken with a pineapple salsa on top. The chicken then was on top a shrimp kebab. All this on top of a bed of beans and rice. Then on top of the great service and food the view was breath taking.

Nice casual place right by the ocean. They have an excellent gluten free menu, as well as non-gluten free food. The food is excellent, service was great, and the view is awesome. If your looking for good casual dining, this is a great option. If your looking for a gluten free option in the area, look no further.

I had heard mixed reviews about this place from some locals. The line and wait out the door help me make my decision. The location is perfect if you ask me right on the water and part of the Flagler Pier. Outside at first gives you the appeal of an old shack with chalkboard messages scribbled by diners and those hanging at the bar. Inside gives you that old Florida Fish Camp, with the modern day beach feel. Two bars here serving up good adult beverages, are located inside just past the hostess stand and also one on the patio over looking the ocean and pier. One side of the restaurant has some great views of the ocean and also downtown Flagler. I have dined here for Breakfast, and Dinner. Service has been very good every time whether breakfast or Dinner. Full Menu, Full Liquor bar! I have had the Shrimp and Grits which are cooked to perfection also I have had the Seafood Wrap. You can’t miss with the Calamari appetizer! One of the best I think I have had and I eat a lot of calamari here in Florida. No Red sauce which I almost asked for since that’s the norm but I will tell you the sauce that came with the calamari was top notch. Again several options that include Seafood on the menu. So if you are looking for a really great spot to sit and eat or drink and be right on the ocean you will want to check out Funky Pelican.

The Funky Pelican looks a little sketchy from the outside, giving off the appearance to me as an old bait and tackle shop. Since its conected to the Flagler Pier. However, inside it appears to be a quaint and authentic fresh catch seafood establishment. Upon arriving there was a small, but awkward wait due to there not being a hostess at the front desk to greet us. I was unsure if we should seat ourselves or continue to look at the items for sale. I would akin it to if you walked into Cracker Barrel for first time and there was not a hostess at the front. We were eventually greeted and seated. A waitor assisted us with our drink order and advised us our main waitor would be over shortly. Not long afterwards our waitor greeted us and took our order. My wife ordered the shrimp and grits, a Southern classic. Yet, it was weirdly garnished with pickled onions, meh. I ordered the Funky Fried Combo(fried fish, shrimp and fries). The portion sizes for the price seemed ok, but some will complain. The grits were lumpy, yet the gravy was flavorful with the shrimp being well seasoned and cooked correctly. The fried fish and shrimp were also well seasoned, perfectly fried and had that fresh catch taste. Overall, I give service 3 stars, our waitor 4 stars, ambiance 4 stars, food & presentation 4 stars. However, I feel so deprived and ashamed that I have never been to the Funky Pelican before, but will definitely be back!

We loved it. We were looking for a quick place to stop for lunch. Not only was it quick, the food was great and it had a beautiful view of the ocean. Couldn’t have worked out better.

Nice restaurant, beautiful views from the deck and excellent service. Made reservations earlier in the week and they were all set when we arrived. Food came out in good time, We did find the fish and shrimp dinner bland and the Mahi was over cooked and bland. My mom and dad had the coconut shrimp and loved it. We would go back for drinks and the view.

This place really has a good breakfast. I adore the potatoes they serve. The mixed drinks are very good, very good, not too strong, great tasting flavors. The shrimp and grits are super tasty and my favorite. They view is incredible. It is a go to place in Flagler. Even as a resident

We had a really yummy lunch here today. Too bad the weather wasn’t so great or we’d have loved to sit outside watching the ocean. But inside had a nice view too and our waiter was very personable and took great care of us. The food was really good. My MIL eats gluten free and a previous waitress they had concocted a great option for her: the blackened shrimp taco contents over nacho chips. Very good! I had the Fried Combo of Grouper and Shrimp with fries. The«batter» on it was very light and crispy and it wasn’t oily/greasy at all. Perfect. My FIL had the shrimp and grits and I got to taste them. Delicious! My husband had the queso dip with chips and that was really tasty as well-full of Jalepeños beef and Some other stuff.

This place does nothing wrong! Their Breakfast was amazing! I recommend the Shrimp & Grits. The Lunch was just as amazing! and to top it all off you have the most amazing view imaginable! Great cocktails, and deserts. My only complaint was one of the days we went our server didn’t seem to have very much knowledge regarding the drink menu and what alcohols were available but that is not of concern at all! I will be going to this place for a long, long time!

I wish the Funky Pelican was a little closer to me but I would probably go too often. We had an awesome group lunch recently and we were all impressed. Drink selections were extensive and delicious. We did find it odd though that 3 of us ordered Stella, which we were pleased to have on tap, but they only had 2 Stella glasses. The food was all good. I enjoyed the Florida Reuben but the onion straws on the side were not that great. No worries I had another Stella in a regular beer glass. The tacos at our table were highly recommended and even our non-seafood eating guest loved the beef kabobs. Perfect afternoon to spend time on the deck to enjoy the view and some good food.

Our waitress was nice but the he Key Lime Pie had a metallic taste and we weren’t to keen on the fish and chips. New England Claim Chowder was good. I’ll pass on coming back to this place

The view is amazing and their Bloody Mary was very very delicious. But that’s where it stops. We had Ahi Tuna Appetizer– the tuna tasted stale, most likely has been frozen before(perhaps the worst I’ve had ever). We also had their chicken wings — which were drenched in so much oil that it was hard to taste any chicken. We might go back for the view and the Bloody Mary, but not for the food. 3 stars because of the view and the drinks, otherwise it would have been 1 star

Best breakfast in Flagler Beach/Palm Coast! If I had it my way, I would wake up every morning and head to Funky Pelican to have a Mimosa, their funky fruit salad, and extra crispy bacon while overlooking the coast on their outdoor patio. It’s seriously perfection. Service is always prompt and cheerful, and we’ve never had a bad meal. Prices are terrific as well!

Great spot and great food. We had eggs and hash and the French toast. French toast is cinnamon swirl bread and dynamite and the hash goes awesome with eggs medium, cheese grits and a biscuit… but would be great with whatever I’m sure Here for only 5 days and will probably go back to try something else and maybe bloody Mary’s and mimosas… who knows #getcray
