Most fulfilling lunch menu items. Would suggest the smaller bowls or plan to take leftovers back. Tried the Kyushu Danji Ramen and it was so flavorful! Mushrooms, eggs, noodles and succulent pork that just melts in the mouth. Was able to get in without a wait because we sat at the stools at the ramen bar.

Some of the best Ramen I’ve had. It’s a small place on the inside with not too many seats, but I usually order take out since I live within walking distance. I usually get the Terakawa Ramen which they call their Signature Ramen. The large portions are great and the flavor is so good. The flavor is rich and has a deep meat-y/pork flavor that really sets it apart. The large slices of super tender roast pork that are served in it are amazing! I’m not usually a huge fan of mushrooms, but the ones that are in it are tender and take on a lot of the flavor of the soup. The chopped scallions add a nice crunch to it. The Miso ramen is also delicious! When you get take out they serve all of the components in several different containers but your get the same portions size as when you dine in. I also usually get the chicken buns as an appetizer and they are very flavorful spicy mayo on them. You can choose to have the buns soft or crispy, I prefer the soft ones, but you won’t go wrong with either. If you go at peak times, then you may have to wait to be seated because this place is small and quite popular, but it’s worth the wait in my opinion. The prices are fair and portions are a great size!

The wait on a Saturday night was 45 mins long but we ended up going to Tea-Do and snacking on an onigiri and boba! Once we got seated, we gave them our orders and the food came out in less than 5 mins. As always, their curry is delicious! Seems like they didn’t serve as much chicken Katsu as our previous experiences here but still worth the wait.

By far, the best ramen house in Chinatown! I’ve tried their Miso, Shoyu, Terakawa Signature, and Tan Tan ramen as well as their pork buns! It’s all so delicious, but my favorite is the Tan Tan Ramen with it’s perfect amount of spice and Pork Buns with great portions and fantastic flavor! The lines are always out the door, but it’s well worth the wait! Just don’t come starving on a weekend! In other words, be prepared to wait for the best ramen you’ll ever try! They never disappoint.

I love the homemade roasted garlic. The service here is five stars considering it’s a very busy place. They constantly filled our water glasses.

Whenever I visit Philly I like to try new spots in Chinatown. A friend recommended Terakawa and I am forever indebted to him! The seating area can only seat 4 per table but they were able to accommodate 6 of us at the counter. We went on a sunday late in the afternoon around 1−2pm. I would recommend going earlier because trying to find parking in Chinatown on a Sunday morning is gruesome. Trying to keep my expectations low, I ordered the Terakawa signature ramen bowl. The egg was perfectly cooked, not too overdone and not too runny. The noodles were not too overcooked, the perfect balance of soft and chewy. The broth itself had a lot of depth and an amazing flavor profile. I added some roasted garlic, crushed sesame seeds, and white pepper to the broth. It was well balanced, not too salty and flavor of the broth enhanced by every spoonful without becoming too overpowering or tiresome. The chasu or the roasted pork was perfectly fatty. It fell apart in your mouth and even when trying to pick it up. Very moist and flavorful too! A friend of mine got the Mayu bowl which packed a lot more of a punch but was not for my simple palette. Definitely recommend if you like a lot of flavor. I also ordered the pork buns as an appetizer. The chasu was well cooked and perfectly seasoned. They also had small slices of tomatoes and cucumber in there with a tangy mayo sauce. All of it paired very well together although I thought the bun was a little lack luster. Definitely try the pork buns if you get a chance! Personally I have a smaller stomach and I almost never get appetizers, but I managed to finish both of the pork buns and a bowl of ramen myself. The pork buns are a hearty size but not too filling, definitely a good snack size or addition to a meal. The staff was very friendly and even though we had to wait a while for our party to arrive, they were understanding and accommodating. The food came out without too long of a wait, which is a blessing considering our table size. When the check came we wanted to split it 6 ways but they only accept 4 cards per check. Not a terrible inconvenience but I would have liked a heads up. Overall I would definitely come here again, Terakawa is a great addition to Chinatown!

A cute ramen joint in Philadelphia’s Chinatown. I bookmarked this place before my trip over, and no regrets. We arrived after the Chinese Lantern Festival in Franklin Square, which was a short walk. There was a wait time for a table, but we didn’t mind sitting at the bar. We got the Charshu men and one of the spicy ramen. I had the charshu men; and it was my first time not ordering a spicy-based ramen, which i was actually really satisfied with! I finished majority of the soup, which I must say, was pretty flavorful. The charshu was also very delicious. I tasted the spicy ramen, and that was pretty good too. After having this ramen, I realized how, sometimes, when ordering spicy dishes, the heat takes away from the flavor of the actual food. Either way, this was a very nice spot. If I ever come back to Philadelphia, would likely come back again for their ramen. Yum, yum.

The best place to get some good ramen when Chu’s Noodle bar is closed. We ran into this situation on Memorial Day when we were craving some good ramen. We gave this place a try and weren’t disappointed. We both got the miso ramen, one vegetarian and one with chicken. The flavor was pretty delicious! However, we did wish the vegetable variety was a little better though. It consisted of way too much cabbage. The portions were pretty big though. Definitely order a side of mood less because you’ll have more than enough broth left over!

Favorite ramen place in Chinatown! Always packed which is usually annoying but it also means that they’re doing something right! I love their appetizer as well! My usual includes seaweed salad, pork belly buns(steamed) & the Shu Mai. As far as entrees goes, I’ve tried the Shoyu, Shrimp Tempora udon & the curry noodle. My absolute favorite is the Shoyu with charsu, it’s delicious & not too salty! I’m the type to eat bland foods but I think this place is a must & won’t disappoint!

Food-amazing. Shoyu ramen was cooked perfectly. I love the texture of the noodles and the broth was perfect and not overly salty. I got the small size and it filled me up without feeling guilty. The curry with chicken was very very good. I’d like it even better if it was super duper spicy because it just should be lol. It doesn’t taste like Thai curry at all, moreso like Indian korma, but still, very very tasty(and huge portion!) And appetizer, we shared the octopus ball. Also very tasty! Lol. Just try it. Service-awesome. It was lunch hour rush, but the waiter and waitress were very attentive, clearing our tables as soon as we were finished, and refilled our water without us having to flag them down. Décor-love it. Small and intimate very similar to how it is in Japan. Cool seats with storage underneath for us women’s big purses! I went yesterday and am craving the noodles right now.

Currently, one of the better ramen in Philadelphia, hence why they ALWAYS have a line. I got the Terakawa Ramen since I like a richer broth. The portion is very filling and the toppings are just enough so no need to add more. Boyfriend got the Kyushu Danji Ramen, which is their largest bowl aka the whopper style. It was HUGE, so he had to bring his leftovers home. I was surprised they separated the broth from the noodles to take it home, but it was probably because they didn’t want to waste some many containers. Service is good and they are usually attentive because of the line. They don’t rush you or anything. Appetizers are to expectations or good. The Takoyaki only had one piece of octopus in it, usually other places have a little more. We also go the Shrimp Tempura Shu Mai which was pretty good.

The place is a little small so it will be really crowd on weekend. But it is clean and nice. I came here on the lunch time and the table was almost full. I went here several times, but today is my visit after more than a year. Nothing quite change. And i ordered the same menu, tan tan Noodle which was ok. My mom ordered spicy ramen that tasted good. And takoyaki for appetizer. The price of the ramen is average about 10 dolars or so. U’ll get a medium size of bowl. And u have to pay for hot tea, 1 dolar and no refill. Better ask for water if u want to save some money. Lol.

I was super excited when I finally managed to dine here, after avoiding the line by coming here at 2:30pm on a weekday — the interior reminded of all the good ramen places I’ve been to in Japan /Hong Kong, and it’s small but cosy and functional. My friend and I both ordered the Terakawa Signature Ramen; I wanted to try it since it’s the store special and it’s my first time here. They do have some really interesting choices on the menu though, from different kinds of ramen(there’s one with a «whooping 280g» of noodles), curry, udon, and appetizers. The ramen came out promptly, and looked mouth-watering good. The broth, in my opinion, is the most important part of ramen. I took a sip of the broth, and it has the markings of «tamashii»(watch the movie Ramen Girl — basically means the soul of the broth), and it didn’t leave me feeling super thirsty unlike some of the other ramen I’ve had around Philadelphia. The toppings helped cut into the richness of the broth, with the pickled vegetables, and I loved the pork belly slice — it was the perfectly mixture of fatty and lean meat. I also really appreciated the condiments provided — the freshly ground sesame seeds and a few drops of sesame oil really elevates the dish. I think what really knocked one star off was the texture of the noodles — it was undercooked, and too chewy. My friend, who has been here a few times before, said that she didn’t have this problem before, so maybe it was a one-off thing. Also, the bowl of ramen noodles could be a little bit hotter to really bring out the fragrance of the broth and noodles. The subpar noodle texture did take away from the dish, but I’ll be back to try the ramen again to give it another try(if I can get past the wait times).

If you’re a ramen fan, do yourself a huge favor when in Philly and stop by this place. I rarely give out 5 stars but it was really that good, with a bit of personal taste mod, see below: Items ordered: — Gyoza(pan seared) — Terakawa ramen + bean sprouts — Tonkatsu curry First the gyoza didn’t taste frozen and was not bite sized teeny tiny things. The skin was seared well and it’s crisp where it needs to be. The tonkatsu curry was good, the pork cutlet was sufficiently crisp and the curry was standard affair. The rice was the weakest link: it was too soft and too wet, but otherwise a solid experience. The ramen, well, it was the best ramen I’ve had on the east coast so far. The soup was too salty but adding some hot water helped. The noodles was chewy, and the pork was heavenly: just the right amount of fat and meat to make it a knockout combo.

Came here on Sunday evening. Place was packed with waiting times of half an hour for parties of 4+. I came by myself so was able to get seated quickly at the bar area. This isn’t my first time here but first time writing a review. I always enjoy getting the takoyaki, octopus balls. They don’t contain much actual octopus but they are fun to eat. The ramen here ALWAYS leads me something to be desired, however. The presentation looks great but the broth of their Signature ramen literally tastes like baking soda mixed with seawater. I can never bring myself to finish the broth because it is so bitter. What gives? Has any one else noticed this? The noodles don’t taste fresh either(no doughy elasticity of fresh pasta). They taste like the dried noodles you can get from the Asian super market. Prices aren’t bad for Japanese food but this is HARDLY the best Ramen in Philly. It’s probably the most accessible and popular because Chinatown. Nom Nam Ramen makes better ramen(but the prices are another story).

After months of going to Terakawa this is hands down the best ramen in Philly. I’ve had the signature, spicy, tan tan, and mayu. My favorite is the spicy but all are great. Not a fan of the apps. Size, price, and quality. Portions are large. Prices are cheap cheap cheap. Quality is the best you’ll find(not just in relation to the price). The noodles are tender and hearty. Broth is full of flavor. Loaded with all types of add ins such as pork, kimchee, bamboo, bean sprouts, etc. If you come in during peak dinner time, expect a wait. The restaurant isn’t large. You can also order take out.

When we entered the door Terakawa Ramen it felt like we were in a noodle shop in Japan. The space is bright with a lot of natural wood. There are counter seats and also table seating. We had a to wait about 5 minutes on a Sunday around 5:30PM for a table for 3 people. They do turn over the tables pretty quickly here. For starters we had 2 appetizers. The Shrimp Tempura Shu Mai and the Pork Buns. The Shrimp shu mai was battered with crispy tempura, topped with sesame seeds and drizzled with lightly spiced bean paste sauce. This was excellent and the bean paste sauce had a lot of flavor and just a little spiciness. The Pork Buns were also excellent! I really liked the spicy wasabi mayo. I would order both of these dishes again. I had the Shoyu Ramen, which was ramen in a light soy sauce and chicken broth with choice of roast pork or chicken, topped with bamboo shoots, bean sprouts, chopped scallions, fish cake and a seasoned boiled egg. This was really good and the broth tasted great but was not over powering. I went with chicken and this was white meat and was tender with a small taste of the soy sauce. The Spicy miso ramen and chicken broth soup with sesame paste, topped with minced pork, bean sprouts and chopped scallions was also very good and had a more powerful taste. One can easily eat at Terakawa Ramen for under $ 10.00 per head, they serve great tasting food in a pleasing setting at a reasonable price. Be prepared to wait for a table or seat. When we left around 6:30 there were 10 plus patrons waiting for a table. The word is out on Terakawa Ramen. I’ll be back soon too. Service was great and they do take credit cards. The washrooms were spotless clean. 4.5 Unilocal

The broth in their Signature Terakawa ramen is insanely good. True, it’s not as aromatic as it could be, but the depth of flavor is addictive. My friend and I were so intoxicated by the broth we almost forgot to eat the other components of the ramen bowl… which were all solid. Perfectly soft boiled egg, al dente noodles, melty pork belly, along with some pickled ginger, bamboo shoots, and scallions. I’ll add, the pork belly is indeed very fatty, but not off-putting like it can be sometimes. Here, it just melts in your mouth. I’d blame a good cooking method. Small place, so take caution if you’re going at a prime hour.

After actually eating ramen in Japan, it’s hard to find a ramen place that lives up to my standards. While not quite at the same level, terakawa ramen is still pretty good. Terakawa special: pretty decent, not my favorite here. Despite being the only ramen here with tonkatsu broth, it’s not flavorful enough. Also, this one comes with the thin straight noodles instead of the crinkly egg noodles most people are used to. Shoyu ramen: I like this more than the terakawa special because it has made more flavorful broth and it’s not too salty. Still, not a huge fan of clear broth. Miso: this one was my favorite. Very rich, creamy broth with pork slices and the egg noodles that we all know and love. All of the add ons(pork, corn, bamboo) are delicious. Overall, not the best ramen I’ve had in the US, but still the best anyone can find in Philly– and its BYO!
