Sad to see that they have closed down. Olney isn’t the best location for a soul food restaurant. They were good though.

The food was very good. I ordered four platters. Fried tilapia, Mac and cheese, and collard greens. Mac&cheese was ok but everything else was really good. The fried chicken wings were good but my favorite was the apple cobbler and the customer service. The owners were extremely nice. I will be returning! And I’ll be checking out their upstairs comedy show as well.

Service from the young man and the lady is friendly. Stay tuned… I was not sure if the meter had to be fed but I didn’t want to end up on that parking ticket show so I paid the 25 cents.

Great place to enjoy some very good seafood… This place makes u feel that southern hospitality right in north Philly… Can’t wait for the crabs to start coming in

Shelly’s Southern seafood restaurant is a new spot is thel Olney section of Philadelphia. I came here one day, at the suggestion of a good friend. I love fish when it’s cooked the right way, and doggoneit, I found the right place! Shelly’s is a small spot, with plenty of free parking in the area. Shelly’s is a very clean family owned business, upon entering the restaurant, I was greeted by a big friendly guy named Lawrence who had a really big smile on his face. This is a family owned business and Lawrence and his wife, Shelly and their son operate the restaurant. These are some of the items I have tried there: Fried fish– very fresh fish with a light, flavorful batter, perfectly Fried to a nice crispy crunch. Chicken wings: the largest wings I ever had, I thought they were turkey wings! French fries: just like I like them, they use fresh potatoes, chop them right in front of you and drop them in the fryer, Collard greens: Smokey and tender, Dirty rice: a southern favorite with lots of spices and a little kick to it, Potato salad: creaiedy and colorful, Mac and cheese: cheesey & firm, candied yams: delicious … Everything is delicious here that I’ve tried and there is more things on the menu left to try. This is the kind of spot I could go to every Friday night, or any night of the week. With great food like this, & a friendly family serving you, it felt like I was invited to dinner at Shelly & Lawrence ‘s home where I kicked my shoes off, set down and commenced to eatin’!!
