I just visited the truck at the Porch at 30th location, and I’ve gotta say, I’m lovin’ it. I’ve heard the name fly around a lot in the food truck circle, but I’ve never visited because I’m never big on ordering and paying for grilled cheese in any location. I don’t even like to make my own grilled cheese, for that matter. But Say Cheese has wooed me. The menu was pretty varied and ranged from meaty to veggie to melty and everything in between. Everything sounded so good. The short rib grilled cheese with mushroom and horseradish totes would’ve been my número uno pick, hands down, if I hadn’t devoured a short rib cheesesteak the night before, so I went way off character and opted for a lighter option, which was: the Fried Mozzarella Grilled Cheese: fried mozzarella, basil pesto, tomato compote and a balsamic reduction, all melted in between two pieces of rye. DELICIOUS. The absolute perfect texture/flavor combination of savory and sweet, soft and crunchy. Some(read: most) places tend to keep the mozzarella cold and hard and slap a sprig of basil and unripe tomato on it in between some basic bitch toast. And I do like fresh tomato and«muzzarell» when in the right context, don’t get me wrong. But here, they did it just right– I’ve finally found the perfect tomato, basil & mozzarella sangwich in HOT form. The fact that they deep fried the mozzarella, like a mozzarella stick, made all the difference. It melted wonderfully together with that earthy tomato compote, flavorful basil pesto and sweet balsamic glaze. The rye soaked it all up nice and good-good without getting soggy(most important factor!) and made for the perfect, just-the-right-amount-of-food, lunch. That with a Mexican coke came to $ 8 and I’d say it’s totally worth it. Maybe next time I won’t bitch out and order a nice meaty grilled cheese.

Say Cheese catered at our wedding. They did a great job to serve everyone quickly, and everyone LOVED the sandwiches, and especially the fried mac & cheese balls. We received many compliments. If you can eat cheese fries in your wedding dress, you should do it. Many thanks to Alan & Sue at Say Cheese for making our wedding special, and tackling the hurdles with us in the past 9 months!

Holy grilled cheese with bacon!!! Heavenly and exceeded my expectations. Staff were super nice. Everything made to order and fresh. Prices range from $ 4-$ 9 for everything from fries to cheese steaks. Next time I’m in Philly I will seek them out because they are THAT good!

Today was my 1st and only visit to Say Cheese. I was hugely surprised to read all these outstanding reviews. Sadly for me, that was not my experience and I sure wish it was. In order for«gourmet meltiness» to occur, the cheese has to be melted. It’s a key component to grilled cheese. I ordered the say cheese with bacon and seaside fried with extra seasoning. The fries were ready before my sandwich and sat a few minutes until that was ready. I asked for extra seasoning on the fries — which is good I did, because the ‘extra’ seasoning was barely enough to season the fries(not all the fries were seasoned — the ‘extra’ was just haphazardly tossed on a few). The fries that weren’t extra seasoned, were a bit bland. These were not fresh fries. They were lukewarm and had been sitting — no way were they made fresh. These fries are fries I could buy in a package at the grocery store. Very disappointed. My sandwich was terrible. Never should bread be the main component of a sandwich — but a vessel on which to hold ingredients. The Italian bread was your regular store bought bread from the grocery store. The cheese was skimpy. A slice on one half and possible 2 on the other half. Although cheese has a salty edge to it, this sandwich was excessively salty(and I love salt) but it was inedible. The bread was the main ingredient. There wasn’t enough cheese to even cover the bread, let alone enough in it to call it a sandwich. The tomato compote was barely covering the sandwich, thin and watery, no flavor. The bacon was fine. The topper — the sandwich was barely warm and the cheese wasn’t even melted. So, I had a barely warm sandwich, with hardly any cheese and cheese that wasn’t even melted(NO gourmet meltiness going on here) and so salty it was inedible. The sandwich was placed on top of my fries(squishing the fries) in the bag versus the other way around. It was money sheerly wasted, NOT well spent. This wasn’t grilled cheese in any way, shape or form. nor was it edible I was very disappointed and hungry without lunch. I should have gone with my gut and stuck with Phoebes. The staff was very nice though.

There’s nothing quite as good as a really good street food and in Philadelphia, no better street food than a cheesesteak. Among the rare delights of working near Philadelpia is the ‘Say Cheese’ food truck which is presently parked outside our building. The spicy fries are crispy and fresh and the brisket cheese steak is to die for. The roll is perfect and undoubtedly baked just this morning. It is finished with a delicious horse radish cheese sauce and every bite is worth savoring. Absolutely delicious!

Went here on my lunch break the other day. We were really excited to find this truck since my coworker has been raving about their brisket cheesesteak for a while. Say Cheese didn’t disappoint: the food quality is excellent for the price. For 4 $, you can get the«Say Cheese» with their house blend and tomato compote on grilled Italian bread. I stole a couple of my coworker’s seaside fries, and they were the best fries I’ve had recently; hot and perfectly crisp. It made me regret not getting an order of cheese fries, because that crunchy texture would hold up really well under cheese sauce… yum. Apparently they are only on Drexel’s campus about once a week, so I’ll have to wait another week to try it again(bummer). Other pluses are their ability to take cards and the fact that the people who work here are friendly and talkative, so the short wait for food is pleasant.

I had some great stuff at Say Cheese today! They were at a street festival in West Chester and my boyfriend and I shared 2 sandwiches. They were both great but I especially looooved the Pork Belly Sammy with Broccoli Rabe and oooy goooy cheese on a snowflake bun! It was a great take on the philly roast pork sandwich!!! I also love their truck, they have a really cool logo!

Grown-up grill cheese is great! Love how the server says«Grown-up on board» when the sandwich is ordered. Made me laugh

Friendly staff, but disappointed in what I got. My grilled cheese’s bread was burnt. For $ 6(and .48 because I used my credit card) I was expecting better.

Say Cheese has been at 30th street station on Friday’s for the month of August. I finally got to try it today! I had the Grilled Chicken Caesar Pita. It was delicious! The chicken was marinated perfectly. The Caesar dressing wasn’t too overwhelming, it felt light. The people working were nice and in great moods. I hope this truck comes back in the fall!

I have heard about Say Cheese many times but this was the first time I actually ate from the truck. It was delicious, but a little on the greasy side. I had the caprese grilled cheese sandwich and the fried macaroni and cheese balls. The flavor on both were yummy. UPDATE: DON’T PAYWITHCREDIT. THEYCHARGEEXTRAWITHOUTNOTIFICATION. While the food is delicious I feel it necessary to update this review and lower my rating of the truck itself. I had paid by credit card and later learned that there is a scam going on. My credit card was charged an additional 17% without my knowledge. The only way I could find to contact Say Cheese was their Facebook page. The response I received stated«The additional charge was due to tax. We always charge tax on credit card transactions. Hope this clears things up.» So either they’re not charging tax on cash purchases and frauding the government or they are charging credit card purchasers extra and hoping that no one catches on, only to use«tax» as an excuse when someone does notice the discrepancy. I would consider going back to Say Cheese because the food was good, but I will NEVER pay with a credit card there again. Please be advised that they will charge you extra and don’t give receipts so you won’t even know unless you check your credit card statement.

Discovered«Say Cheese» at the RUNNINGOFTHESANTAS! This is a place I will definitely be following. The«Say Cheese» is delicious with perfectly done grilled cheese. The slight saltiness is perfect with the Gouda cheese. The standout is the Chicken Bleu – a must get. Small grilled pieces of chorine with home-made buffalo sauce. Get it – you’re welcome!

Greasy, slow, and the menu doesn’t vary much. Disappointing because the owner is real cool. Sandwiches would benefit from being cut in half. Crappy and expensive. It’s just too bad.

It seemed like a lucky coincidence that a grilled cheese sandwich craving would hit on the same night the Say Cheese Truck was making an appearance at the South Street Night Market. Unfortunately, the sandwich that I got after my long wait did little more than quiet the craving. I was psyched to see that the«grown up grilled cheese» listed on the menu board featured Taleggio, arugula and jalapeño-peach jelly. Sadly, as I reached the truck a staff member erased the Taleggio and wrote in a fairly generic substitution of Monterey Jack in its place. The event was packed and we were there on the late side, so I don’t fault them too much for running out of the Taleggio. However, they kept charging the same price for the sandwich! WTH? Whatever — I had waited that long; I was getting my grilled cheese. I had high expectations, and what I received was underwhelming. There was a meager ratio of ingredients to bread; the bread was hard and dry; the cheese was not melted the whole way through; and it seemed like they salted the outside of the sandwich. There were a few bites in the very middle that actually had a reasonable amount of cheese, arugula and jelly that made me realize what the sandwich could have been. For a place that calls itself the«Say Cheese» truck, my grilled cheese should have been more than just«acceptable». Curiously my husband went with the non-grilled cheese option, a roast beef po’boy, and got a really great, substantial sandwich. It was $ 2 more than the grilled cheese, but that $ 2 got him a LOT more food. His sandwich added a star to the review all by itself. I might give Say Cheese another try — especially if I encounter them outside of the mob scene of a night market. Maybe keeping up with the crowd was part of the problem…

I first became aware of Say Cheese when I met one of the truck owners while holding down the cheese counter at Whole Foods. After walking around and having the chance to discuss queso with him I’m happy to report that I learned first hand that the cheese monger spirit is very alive and well within this truck. And when that translates into dishing out gourmet grilled cheese sandwiches, that may very well be a good thing for all mankind(at least the non-lactose intolerant members). Liking there Facebook page( ) has led to me bearing witness to some tantalizing food porn like freshly cured pancetta, tomatoes smoking in an oven, bacon cheeseburger egg rolls, and more things from their kitchen that have left me absolutely craving my first bite. And when that moment finally happened during the 2nd Street Festival I was fully ready to go all in on the Grown Up grilled cheese with blue cheese spread and cure bacon. And the end result was sheer perfection that made its way into my top three grilled cheeses of all time list. The fact that their standard menu features fairly flexible customization for a create your own is quite amicable. But specialty sandwiches like the El Duke, Wild Bill, and whatever they may cook up for a special event(like Night Market next week?) may be the winning way to go.

As a grilled cheese lover, I had to check out Say Cheese at the 2nd street festival. Hilariously, I actually ended up getting the only non grilled cheese item on their menu and I was not disappointed! The sandwich was roasted pork, BBQ sauce, sharp cheddar, french fries, lettuce and tomato on a roll. The sandwich was really good but my favorite part was how fresh the ingredients were. The roll was heaven, the tomato was perfect and the cheddar was out of this world. They really use some quality ingredients. Next time, I’m getting the grilled cheese for sure… because there WILL be a next time.

I love cheese so it is always a difficult decision as to what I should get when I come to this truck! Awesome cheese steaks, mozzarella sticks, and grilled cheese sandwiches. Definitely give them a try if you ever see them around!

Had a chance to visit Say Cheese today while they were participating in the Navy Yard’s Food Truck Roundup. Here are my thoughts: Selection: There was a choice of three sandwiches– a chicken, a beef, and a vegetarian. I don’t mind small menus on food trucks– when there is a food truck with a million different menu items, it makes me think that they have a lot of ingredients just sitting around on that truck for a while. Price: The vegetarian option was the cheapest at $ 6, for a grilled cheese with tomato. The ingredients they use are gourmet, but I opted to pay an extra $ 2 to get a sandwich with a bit more substance(i.e. meat). I just couldn’t bring myself to pay so much for just cheese and tomato. Service: The sandwiches are made to order, and that includes cooking the meat. There were three of us that visited the truck and we ordered and got our food rather quickly– about 10 minutes I’d say. And they take Level Up– score! Quality– I really enjoyed my sandwich– I got the Augustus, which had chicken, provolone, spinach, and a sun dried tomato spread. I thought the roll was really fresh and soft(I prefer soft rolls over those really chewy and hard ones), the cheese was delicious, and the sun dried tomato spread was really really delicious. Other posters have complained about the meat– I thought the chicken was good– not greasy but still juicy. One gripe from our group was the small size of the sandwich, relative to the price. But in my opinion, it was filling enough for a lunch time meal. And the fact that the sandwich was quite delicious more than compensated for that.

I’ve had the«cheesesteak» with fresh pico de gallo and avocado on a Sarcones roll and provolone(yes, it was just as good as it sounds!) for $ 8 and a standard grilled cheese with Jersey tomatoes, also delicious, for $ 6. Service with a smile– can’t beat it. I’m glad they started coming around my neighborhood. They take debit, too, which is nice considering they’re a food truck. Guess that means they’re in the money-making business!

Though the meatball sandwich caught my eye, I was persuaded to make my own. This meant swiss and cooper sharp cheese, with tomato, fried onions, bacon and the off menu garlic mayo all on the«hand-formed» rustic Italian bread($ 6). This was no classic Philly long roll. What my sandwich lacked in length, it made up for in girth. The truck adds a 3rd slice of bread inside, bulking it up. I didn’t think I needed it, but I ended up enjoying the extra surface for cheese to cling to. What I like about this sandwich most was that the gooey cheese was not overshadowed by the rest of my choices, as was the case in my eggplant grilled cheese from the nearby Cheese Busz. I am going to go ahead and pat myself on the back because the garlic mayo, onions, tomato, and bacon were the perfect combo with my 2 cheeses and toasted bread. They should probably name this sandwich after me.

I love this food truck! It’s my favorite. I am a bit of a grilled cheese snob. Really I’m like Goldie Locks on the search for the perfect grilled cheese. Who would have known that the answer to my search would come in the form of a food truck in Love Park? The people who work there are AM-AAAAZING. Sooo super nice without being the least bit fake nice. I love them. The food. The grilled cheese is perfect. The bread comes in large, delicious slices and is filled with the most generous portions of your choice of cheeses. They do not skimp. The other toppings are included in the price and are interesting, tasty, and fresh. Did I mention this is the best grilled cheese ever? The sides — their soups are fresh made each day and soooo good! But the piece de resistance — the sweet potato fries with maple syrup. If I was on death row, I might request these as part of my last meal on earth. The fries are perfect. Perfectly soft on the inside and crispy on the outside. They taste so fresh and are served right out of the fryer. They are sweet and savory at the same time. And then… when you add the maple syrup as a topping… HEAVEN for $ 1.50. Such a good deal. I could go on and on. Eat here!!! I say no more.
