Route 23 Cafe

I recently visited Route 23 Café, and the food was simply amazing. I received my food in a timely fashion, and it was hot and ready. I would recommend Route 23 to everyone.

This place is a small black owned restaurant and not far from where I live, so I’ve tried to give them my support on three different occasions, but this past weekend’s experience made them officially lose me as a customer. To be honest, it should have been after my second, when they sent me a raw crab cake sandwich, but that’s a story I’ll leave alone. I’d rather reflect on my past experience on Saturday. So at 3:30pm I ordered delivery for a seafood cheesesteak (salmon, shrimp, and crab with spinach, peppers, and onions) and it comes with fries. I requested that the cheese sauce please be on the side (because they tend to put too much of it on). 5pm comes around and my food still isn’t here … I call them at 5:05, and the owner tells me they’re short on drivers and it should arrive soon. My food doesn’t make it to me until 5:30pm, so thats strike one. my food arriving 2 hours later. I open up my food (ready to go in, might I add. bc this was my first time eating all day) … and I see that the cheese sauce that I specifically requested be put on the side, was on my sandwich. I say ‘eff it! I’m hungry, I’m just gonna eat it’. I take a few bites and realize that there is not one piece of shrimp or crab on this seafood cheesesteak, it was in fact a salmon cheesesteak. I then bite into my french fries and they are NOT DONE what so ever. They tasted like they just sat and soaked up in some cold ass grease smh. At this point, I’m livid and still hungry. The owner answers and tells me that they’ll send me some new fries and he’s not going to make me a whole new sandwich, he’ll just send me the shrimp and crab on the side. In my head I wanted to yell ‘EXCUSE ME SIR?!? I just paid $ 18 for this food and you mean to tell me you’re not even gonna send me a new sandwich after missing two of the main ingredients on it?’. At this point I didn’t even feel like arguing, I said ‘how long is it gonna take for this to get to me?’ He complains about there not being enough drivers again and it should be there in 30 mins, maybe less. The driver gets to me 45 – 50 minutes later, hands me a bag, and $ 2. I get inside and open up the bag to see there’s only fries and none of the stuff missing from my sandwich. And I’m assuming that’s what the $ 2 was for given to me for, without an explanation *rolls eyes*.
Long drawn out story to say: Route 23’s customer service absolutely SUCKS! And I refuse to give them another penny. They’re lucky I gave them more than 1 star.

I just ordered the fish tacos for lunch and they are so darn good! I eat here all the time and figured I’ll give a great review!

Fantastic service Fantastic Food. The staff was friendly and patient even after my gift certificate issue. My entire family enjoyed every bite. We now have a new spot and will be regular customers. Thanks again Route 23!

Found this place on IG and then lo and behold, Groupon was offering a deal for four burgers and a side. Short story — -owner decided not to honor any more Groupons, stated it was not worth the hassle. I so wanted to support this place because its right in my neighborhood, but you lost a potential customer. All you had to do was honor the Groupon and you may have gotten a repeat customer.
Thank goodness Groupon refunded my purchase within minutes.

food is not worth 3 hours waiting. i have called 3 times and nothing. very unprofessional. never ever will i order from them again.

Three strikes and I’m out. I can’t order from here again. This was a new small business that has a good concept and there’s not too many restaurants quite like it in my area. So I really wanted to support it. However they can’t get my support (or anyone I know.) My 1^st order (delivery) was fine. The customer service was excellent. The food was OK. On my 2^nd order (pick up) my food was never even prepared. I showed up to pick up my food only to find that no one had even started cooking it. No payment, no problem. They apologized I went on my way to get food elsewhere. On my 3^rd & final order (delivery), the delivery person was late, an item was missing and they’d replaced and item that was out of stock. This would not have been too much of an issue but I wasn’t even given the courtesy of a call. It would’ve been nice to be informed that an item was out of stock and given a choice to decide what I wanted in its place. Then to top it all off the food wasn’t even that good. I’ve had better food from the local pizza joint. A little customer service goes a long way.

Food was very good. All specialty sandwiches. Had the chicken cs, chicken was cooked perfectly and all the extras added great flavor

I like the food here, the restaurant needs heat in the winter time. But the foid is awesome

I just ordered the stuffed salmon with broccoli and yellow rice and a platter of the seasoned shrimp with Mac and cheese and asparagus and I loved it! Well seasoned and flavorful. I Will be back and will be telling my family/​friends

Ordered through grub hub and the estimated delivery time was one hour. A hour and a half goes by so I call to check on my order and the man (allegedly the owner) tells me it’s on the way. Twenty minute later still nothing so my husband calls back to inquire. Long story short the supposed owner cursed my husband out on the telephone and told him to come up there to fight. Hmmmm. After that they stopped answering the calls. Eventually at about the two hour mark, the delivery still comes but she forgot the home made fruit punch. To fix that the delivery driver went to the store bought a Pepsi and gave it to us. Thank you but that’s not equivalent to the cost of your fruit punch. Smh this place is ratchet. Y’all tricked me. Smh. The one star is for the taste which was alright. The size of the meal was worth seven dollars rather than twelve. Minus for stars for the shenanigans. That was all hassle.

it’s super close and has an exciting spin on breakfast and lunch favorites but also does traditional items well. order the chicken and waffles. would’ve loved if the portions were slightly larger but the meal was delicious. next I’m trying the salmon and shrimp cheesesteak!

This restaurant is delicious, customer service oriented and right on time!
I first found them on the explore tab of Instagram. There it was, an impeccable looking seafood cheesesteak. Love at first site. Much like any romance that cheesesteak was the superficial attraction. The real love affair came when I saw their full menu. Lamb chop lollipops, turkey chop cheesesteak, spinach fries, seafood pasta, salads. There is something for everyone. All halal which means a lot in my household. We’ve been making our way through the menu and have never been disappointed. I cannot recommend one dish in particular because it’s all great!
Their delivery range is pretty wide. I recently discovered that they deliver to me though I’m about 5 miles or so away. They are pleasant and accommodating on the phone and in person. In a city where low and high end dining is high paced and competitive, Route 23 is setting themselves apart as a business that can and should go the distance. Check them out!

My hubby and I had a great experience at Route 23. The food is deliciously awesome! Try the fish and grits or the pound cake french toast! Dont miss out on some amazing and tasty food in Germantown. Ask for Allen.

First let me say that this place always posts pics on Instagram and it always looks soooo good! I decided to try it out tonight for dinner and I was not disappointed! The food was hot, fresh, and extra yummy! I often try new places based on instagram pics and a lot of times the pics don’t match the taste. However, this place surpassed the pics and I was quite impressed. When I arrived, the owner brought the food out and I got a quick taste. I was immediately blown away! I will definitely be back for the stuffed salmon, broccoli, and mac n cheese! One word: Yum! Keep up the great work, Route 23:-)
