Karaōke tends to be enjoyable when the environs are reasonably attractive. REMIKTV isn’t. We met a visiting friend here to sing. The room we were given was their largest, but one of the most ghetto I’ve seen — and believe me, I’ve seen my fair share. It wasn’t well-ventilated, but it’s possible that we were simply a large crowd. To be fair, their other rooms are slightly better«decorated», if you want to use that word. The music selector is magical-looking(just try it yourself), and doesn’t require obscure button combinations to work it. Besides the usual collection of drunken ballads — in English — Chinese songs are available. Not sure you’re allowed to bring outside liquor in, but you can buy beer. We pounded back Heineken and Coronas at $ 4 a pop which seemed expensive at the time but in retrospect, not really. Unless you’re pounding back six or so, then it’s fuckery. REMIKTV is far from the lap of luxury, but if you want to get your American Idol on for cheap, this may be an option, even if it leaves you wanting.

This place sucks. ALOT. I wouldn’t even call this a business. **Day before my Karoke Party** Me: Hi, I would like to make a reservation for tomorrow at 7pm– 10pm. REMI worker: :writing it down: Okay, how many people? Me: around 12? REMI worker: Okay, that would be a middle room, which is $ 40 bucks an hour. (40BUCKS an hour for a room?! Hotel rooms doesn’t even cost that much!) Me: Wow. okay, but are we allow to bring in outside food? REMI worker: Sure, but no drinks. You have to buy the drinks here. Me: Okay, no problem. **Day of the Karoke Party** From 6:45PM to 7:30PM, me and 10 other people stood outside REMITV(with 10 pizzas) waiting for it to open. At 7:32, a guy casually strolled up to the place and unlock the doors. No greetings, no apologies, nothing. Me: Uh hi. We had an appointment at 7. REMI worker #2: I don’t know. Me: Well, we do, and you are half an hour late. REMI worker #2: Well, noone told me about it. Me: I made an appointment yesterday, so someone should have known. REMI worker #2: :shrugs: No one told me. :notices our pizzas: Oh, no food allowed. (WHAT?!) Me: WHAT?! I was told we were allowed to bring food just not drinks. REMI Worker #2: That was a new guy, he doesn’t know the rules. Me: Sorry, but I was not aware that he is new. All i know is he told me I could, therefore I did. REMI Worker #2: Okay, fine. But no next time. Me: If he told i could next time, i will. I’m not sure if its because my friend was kind of rude to him or mainly the establishment is just crappy but… Problem #1: There was no AC in our room. Not in all rooms, just our room. It’s not like all the other rooms are full either, we were the only people there and still we were stuck in a blazing hot room while the AC is blasting on in the other empty rooms. Problem #2: I reserved a room for 12 people. We ended up having only 10 and 3 of us has to sit on tables. I brought it up to the guy’s attention and he told me that is how it is. Problem #3: The entire karoke system is in Chinese. Which isn’t a big problem cause 3 of us are fluent in it, but the rest of the group has to muddle through the system. The night was fun but I can not believe we paid $ 120 for this.
