Wine up! It’s about to get real: The time has come to find out a hidden gem. The«under-the-radar» Paris Wine Bar(PWB.) What’s not to love about PWB? It has a sophisticated, yet intimate vibe. With its excellent, causal and elegant French-bistro-style/comfort fare, there’s even more to love. Their bloody delicious mini Fish’n’Chips, tasty mini Empanadas, and super yummy mini Salmon Cakes are worth a try! Paris Wine Bar is so charming and memorable, unlike its sister restaurant, London Grill, which has different atmosphere, also great. Now say what you will about the PWB, but after one visit, you’ll have to admit, it’s perfect spot for romantic date night! PWB is very cozy, dimly lighted, and an old Parisian-style décor. The chandeliers, and draperies will surely set the mood for a tipsy/sober feel. Another trick? PA wine-on-tap. Yep thats right, six local draught wines are offered. Check it out, people! Wine & dine, or snack & sip, whatever you desire — just enjoy! I look forward to returning for a Friday evening live jazz, or to an improv murder mystery wine dinner, when it’s offered. Four Unilocal

There are a few things that make a Friday night special. One is a good glass of wine and the second is listening to good music. I found both at Paris Wine Bar last week. There was jazz going on and the setting was perfect for it. Our server was very attentive and we enjoyed the music. It really felt like we were in a café in Paris not in Philadelphia. My friend ordered a Marie Antoinette which was a drink served in a champagne class. She said it was a good drink. This place is a keeper and I will be returning soon.

Searched for a restaurant with live jazz music in Philly. I found it astounding that we lack this great venue. Then I happened to find, on Unilocal,Paris Wine Bar. Wow! As we entered, the feeling of, «we’re not in Philly anymore,» fell over us. The muffled old French music played softly in the background as we were shown our table, way in the back, perfect. Sitting on a banquet filled with pillows as we sipped on wine made locally. Not bad, but drinkable. The food was fabulous. We decided to order small plates and share. Grilled octopus, a vegetable platter and spring rolls. They were prepared with fresh ingredients and tasted so good. At 9:00pm live music softly filled the room until 12:00. Just a great evening spent in a very cool and welcoming spot. Our waiter, TJ(?) was adorable, attentive and helpful. This is a find!

REVIEWOFPARISFLEAMARKET: Accidentally popped in here looking for different parts of pig(Can You Eat a Whole Pig Fairmount food crawl, anyone?) and stumbled into the Paris flea market, held the last Sunday of every month. Reasonably priced random knick knacks, art, jewelry, and friendly service. Definitely a great Sunday funday stop! I saw a mirror I thought my friend would love, and at $ 16, if she didn’t like it I decided I’d keep it for myself. Turns out she liked it so I guess I’ll have to revisit Paris another time! A bientot, mon ami.

Paris Wine Bar is the coziness, friendliest, most chill place to hang out. I’ve never been to Paris the city, but I hope it’s as cool and well-decorated as Paris the wine bar. I spent about three perfectly content hours here sitting on a comfy sofa, listening to lovely live jazz music and sipping on local wines. I also indulged on a cheese plate which was tasty and a great accompaniment to my wines. I absolutely loved the time I spent here and will definitely come back at the first opportunity,

I am torn. I love the décor, service, music, wine selection and beer(from London Grille next door). The live music is a nice touch, get a couch seat if you can. or sit outside. This is a MUCH needed addition to the neighborhood. Very good. we also LOVE the Vegetable Board, wow. So what don’t we like? The Wine/Beer Prices. Too High.

I like Paris. I like wine. Turns out they have live jazz. Me and my girlfriend have walked past this place many times and have been to London Grill plenty of times. Figured we’d give Paris a shot given the music angle. The Décor: Walking in to Paris Wine Bar is like stepping into a Parisian salon — or what I imagine it would be like. Little tables, heavy curtains, striped wallpaper, art on the wall, a piano, dim lighting — incredibly cozy and inviting. When we went it wasn’t too busy on the Paris side — we had dinner and then sat on the couch(there are two — right near the piano — it felt like sitting in a living room) with an Irish Coffee and listened to the piano and sax. Someone mentioned that it almost felt awkward being one of the few people in there with the performers — it can be, but I think that’s because in general we are«afraid» of being that close to art. It wasn’t long ago, before musicians were a product on a screen or stage, that this was a normal thing. I enjoyed being so close to the musicians. Even chatted a bit when they asked if we had requests(we did…“April In Paris”) — I found the proximity to be warm and inviting and fit perfectly with, and enhanced the charm of the place. The Food: It’s London’s kitchen. They have always been pretty solid. Easy 4 out of 5 with anything I’ve ever had there. The Wine: Ehhh. The drafts were a little too cold — no problem — let it sit for a few. But, they are all local PA wines — not exactly the stuff of great intrigue. That being said, the Syrah I had was the best PA wine I’ve tasted — but a pretty middling wine all around. We ordered off the bottle list for round two. The Service: Very friendly. A little slow, but not overly lagging. We went on a Friday night and it seemed that the London side was quite busy, which in turn makes the Paris side a bit slow as they share the same kitchen and bar. However, we did not mind as we were out for the night and enjoying the music and the room. In a small way, with enough wine, one could easily imagine they were in Paris enjoying a peaceful night at a café before strolling the Champs-Élysées…I mean Ben Franklin Parkway… Would recommend and am planning on visiting again, soon.

Wine and Jazz I must have driven by Paris in my Jaguar a thousand times and not noticed it. It sit’s in the shadow of the larger, and more well know, London, which is just next door. I stopped in only because I was invited by a friend to come have a beverage and listen to some music. That sort of thing is right in the Urqhart wheelhouse, so I was happy to oblige. Paris is more like a sitting room with elements of a bar, than a traditional pub. I wasn’t sure if should take my shoes off and sit on a comfy chair, or pony up to the bar. I chose bar… no surprise. They do a selection of local wines, which I like from a business standpoint more than I do from a palate perspective. I tried a Syrah that wasn’t horrible, but certainly wasn’t good. The wine exhibited very minerally qualities, and was served too cold to have any noticeable bouquet. It read like a ‘crude bordeaux type wine of mixed origins.’ This point just goes to show why the Northeast Corridor has not been hailed as a mecca by oenophiles. The music, however, was wonderful. Paris has a real piano, and real musicians. I always so appreciate when a real commitment to culture is made. Hiring actual people sends a clear message which says ‘It’s important to support Art, and the Artists in our community.” I’m happy for every opportunity I have to help in that support. With that being said, the music kept me there until closing. Without live music, Paris is a solid three stars(maybe 2.75), but with I’m happy to rate it much higher, as a thank you to their support of Art.

Stopped in for a glass of wine after dinner. There was a cute young girl singing accompanied by a piano, which was a nice touch but it was so quiet when we walked in otherwise that it was borderline awkward. The décor was charming but all a little makeshift, especially the little bar. To be honest, I can’t give this much of a review other than to say it was a hot, muggy night and it was even hotter inside. My friend and I sat wiping our foreheads — classy! My hope is that their AC shared with London next door was just broken that particular evening because London was just as stifling. There is no restroom in Paris, so you must head next door into London and up a flight of stairs. The only reason I didn’t mind the trek is because I found an over-working and under-delivering AC unit in an upstairs window which I shoved my face in front of for a lingering few moments. I hope to stop by to sample some food but I am unfortunately not in a hurry.

PWC has a charming atmosphere, but the food is just average — fairly consistent with its(Siamese twin) sister restaurant London Grill to which it is attached. The Escargot was tasty and an interesting dish as the snails were wrapped in phyllo dough. The Beet Salad Napoleon was a decent portion, but the did not have a lot of flavor, which is what I would also say about the Mashed Potatoes. The Salmon dish had a good flavor, but particularly since they ask you how you want your sushi-grade fish cooked, I was disappointed that it was slightly overcooked.

It’s a little hard to tell the difference between London Grill & Paris Wine Bar, as London has the draft wines available & Paris currently shares the(updated) London menu. Honestly, it just seems as though London expanded their seating area. Don’t get me wrong — this is a cute addition to the neighborhood & the expanded outdoor seating is much appreciated. I just don’t feel it’s truly a brand new bar. A friend recommended the Galen Glen white, and it was quite good. I decided to try the Croque Madame. I was a little confused at the ham — it was good, but it’s was more like a brisket, rather than ham. There was only a tiny bit of brie, and the bread was pretty overcooked. I’m not sure I’d get this again. The fries(as always) were terrific! I’d definitely like to return and check out the interior. London is a neighborhood institution, so I’m glad they’ve expanded!

Came here Friday evening, and were able to be seated immediately. It is a great concept, I know a few proponents of wine on tap so I was very excited to see it finally available in PA. I do wonder how it can be legal, since pretty much anything that makes sense with alcohol is illegal here. The wines were decent, I don’t have a lot of experience with PA wines so it was nice to try a few. They were out of the syrah so I stuck to the whites and rose. The food menu is the same as the London for now. For the most part everything we ordered was fine, but just fine. Nothing really special, but a step up from a lot of the bar food available in the neighborhood. I enjoyed the arugula salad(hello fried goat cheese what is not to love!) and the apple cake dessert best. The gratin potatoes were underdone, but that is common at restaurants in my experience. I feel like I will come here a lot. The décor is almost identical to my dad’s dining room so it had a homey feeling for me. They do happy hour so I want to check that out next along with the truffle parm fries.

I’ve liked London(the connected bar/restaurant) for years. The place has tons of character, with a vintage classic-style mahogany bar and tiled floor. The food is equally timeless, and service is always friendly and attentive. On winter nights the bar area can feel slightly cold because of the front and side doors creating a wind-tunnel effect. Paris has that same problem(at least for the table in front of the restaurant next to the bar.) For a wine bar, the list isn’t overly extensive. But the happy hour special was decent– a $ 4.00 Pennsylvania red. My headache subsided by 9:00AM this morning, so it couldn’t have been that bad? They have complimentary quiche, and cheeses and crackers; a nice gesture. Some of the women had small plates off the menu and enjoyed them. Decent décor, and an overall relaxing atmosphere with couches and large cushioned chairs towards the back. Don’t expect 5 star dining, but definitely a solid place for a quiet date or catching up with some friends.

From the makers of London Grill the conveniently located next door Paris wine bar seems to fill a much needed niche for this side of the city. Love this place … opening day for hh was a great idea. I didn’t think it would be as crowded but I’m do glad they had such a great turnout. As the live band played i sipped my local made Syrah and found myself back in France. They offer about 5 different wines on draft(all produced by local PA wineries) I only sampled the Syrah but enjoyed it very much. The atmosphere very chill(great place for pre or post dinner drinks or hh) They will in the future offer the option for happy hour and they also take reservations. They offer a full menu and they also allow you to order from the London Grill. I had the pleasure of meeting the owner who is very proud of this new venture. If your in the area make this a stop for sure. the staff is super nice and the bartender was very knowledgeable about the wines and wineries they had available. For now it’s four stars since I only got to sample the vino but I like this tres bon wine bar on the other side…
