I’m a Jersey girl, forever and always. Growing up, going to the diner for breakfast was a way of life… in fact, many daddy-daughter-date days started with a stack of pancakes or an order of eggs, bacon, and hash brown potatoes from our favorite North Jersey establishments. Now, I’m not going to say that Philadelphia isn’t a diner-town…it’s just not the same as my upbringing. Imagine my surprise to finally step foot inside Paradise after months of ordering takeout and sending boyfriend across the street to pick it up, only to be slapped with a twinge of nostalgia. This very unassuming home/storefront known by name for their pizza, but to me, more so for their diner menu staples, has become a go-to for early mornings, late nights and everything in between. Now, I’m not going to sit here and say they knock everything out of the park… and maybe it’s my own fault for order a bland tasting and mushy veggie burger that one time, but I’ve righted my wrongs and stick with the tried-and-trues. You can pull up to the counter, grab a breakfast with coffee for $ 6, and have your check in under a half hour. The locals are friendly and the waitstaff even friendlier. My go-to’s are breakfast and burgers, but I’m thinking it might soon be time to give their namesake pizza a try. This is the perfect local spot for your late night snacks, your hangover cures, or just for a low-key meal to share with the kind of friend that is deserving enough to know that a place like this still exists in the city.

Small no-frills diner style restaurant serving all foods all day. Pizza is huge for $ 8.00 and taste is quite fresh and crispy. Was a good stop off while I was in the Piazza/Liberty Walk area looking for a decent pizza. Staff and restaurant all very friendly and inviting. Good hot meals for under $ 10

I’ve been to paradise a few times now and it’s a restaurant that consistently pleases and surprises. Great prices, great diner food in an area where that is sorely lacking. And they even have great pizza with wonderful crispy crust.

3.5 stars. Imagine you have a friend. Your friend, s/he can’t cook but CAN promise to not poison you. But you don’t mind because every time you visit you’re welcomed by a friendly host who spirits you into comfy environs, smiles, and constantly fusses over you. You feel loved. The food isn’t great in either execution or ingredients. But it’s cheap, familiar, and inoffensive. TL;DR — 75% as good as a real restaurant at only 67% of the cost.

Friendly service, great food, clean and cool inside… glad we read the reviews! AND my friend and I both weren’t disappointed I passed this place and never checked it out. Now, it’s gonna be my ‘GO-TO’ for food that I know will be good to eat and made just the way I like it. Prices are great, too.

Sometimes, living in this neighborhood, you start to feel like everything is so expensive you can’t afford to eat out. I’m glad there are still a few places nearby who haven’t gotten too big for their britches. Paradise is a far cry from their namesake but they are a simple, non-pretentious greasy spoon diner and frankly we need more places like this. They do a little bit of everything, nothing is the best you’ve ever had. Nothing is bad. It’s all just simple, classic, workmanlike food that is priced reasonably. Whenever I’m in that area around a meal time Paradise is high on my list.

Love this place! Next to the El and Gold club gives it a weird vibe, but inside its a comforting family diner. Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner it’s all great food. At this point I’ve sampled the menu a few times over… My go to: Chicken Caesar salad, Chicken parm, Reuben, buffalo chicken hoagie/steak. You won’t be disappointed or hungry when you leave.

No frills, no fancy. It’s a family diner with a lot of locals and no pretentiousness. Came here with my friend Luke who referred to this place as having a ‘real american breakfast’. I’d have to agree with him. Here you can get a great breakfast with coffee and not even break the $ 5 barrier. In an area where gentrification has made serious inroads this place shines.

I’m surprised this place doesn’t have more reviews! My boyfriend recommended this place and is a regular. We ordered here several times, and each time we were more than satisfied. Customer service is «on point», as well as their food. I love and hate how their menu is ENORMOUS, and the hate is because I always want to order more than I should and try more of their food! Their low prices get to me. Mainly though, their pizza is delicious. I usually dislike pepperoni pizza, but their version is something I can bear, and even crave. I can’t wait to try more flavors! (Sorry I don’t have photos to share, we always dig into their food faster than I’m able to pull out my phone.)

This is family diner meaning its run by a really nice family and offers a friendly, neighborhood feel for basic comfort food, fairly fast, and affordable. Its not fancy. There are no frills. Thats exactly why I like it. Its an old school, basic style diner. They remember you, and your favorite foods. I find them to be a wholesome, welcome stop near the El.

Short story: decent food, good service, cheap prices. Fantastic family-run diner at the edge of No libs. Misleading in that it’s not a true«pizza joint», rather it’s more of a Jersey diner style. Wide variety of food. That being said, I’ve had the pizza, it’s standard, cheap and worth eating. Burgers are large and decent, stromboli is huge and decent, and the service is attentive and kind. I wouldn’t really consider this for a *fast* food stop in, but if you’re otherwise hungry, this is a fine choice.

I’m not even sure if this place is a pizzeria, the looks are all that of a generic diner. In this case, looks are not deceiving! The food is okay, the service is pretty quick, the coffee ins’t terrible. The prices are cheap. You can get a simple breakfast for 2 with coffee and juice for under $ 10, and for that fact alone, this place is 4 stars. Sometimes, you just have to go to a crappy diner, and Paradise will never disappoint you.

Where to start? We ordered the«2 Pizzas for $ 12» daily special(that should’ve raised a big red flag on the food quality) to try it out without wasting too much money. Got it delivered at work, in a timely manner. What a huge disappointment when we opened the boxes. The«large» pizza is close to a 12″, with the cheese burnt beyond recognition(maybe the CSI team could’ve told’us what kind of cheese was used to murder this pizza, but not sure) to the point you couldn’t even tell if there was any sauce on it or not. So after the visual horror we proceeded to the taste, which at the end is what matters, well what a surprise that was… I’ve had frozen pizzas from the food store taste much, much better than that. The pizza is not made on premises but a pre-made, pre-topped with cheese and tomato sauce one, which they obviously don’t know how to cook properly since it was BURNED(called to complain and the rude hostess reply with a short and dry«that is how our cheese is»), looks like it was cooked on a convection oven or a toaster more than in a traditional pizza oven. The crust has close to no taste, the sauce is a mixbag of bitter and sweet that fight to overpower the over-burned unknown cheese(which I can take bets is not real chease). Not sure how this place can call themselves«Restaurant & Pizzeria», I’ve had better pizzas at street vendor carts, being from Italy I have quite a bit of understanding on how«REALPIZZA» should be, and trust me this one ain’t one. Definetley not reccomended, there are at lest 2 much better pizza parlors in less than a one mile radius from this place that are so much better is not even funny.

I’ve had breakfast at Paradise a few times. No complaints, tasty food, good service form a little diner. I’ve gotten cheesesteaks to go a few times. Yep, it’s a cheesesteak, as good as anywhere else, and again, friendly service. I got a pizza to go once. Tasty pizza, not my favorite kind, but my girlfriend loved it. I only wish they were open a bit later in the evening.
