My husband and I came here for our wedding anniversary dinner on a weeknight. My husband made a reservation on OpenTable. As soon as we entered the ship, I turned to my husband saying that the interior décor reminded me of the Titantic. We were promptly taken to our table as soon as we got to the hostess. We were seated by a window. It was a nice view but the vents were right next to us, making me very cold. In terms of the food, we were offered complimentary salmon paste on toast. It was a little too fishy for my liking. My husband and I decided on a starter. We had the foie gras. I was timid to try it, but as soon as my husband finished his bite, he gave me the look. The look of it’s worth the taste. I took a bite of the duck. It melted in your mouth. It was supberb. My husband had the rack of lambs for his entrée, while I had the salmon. The salmon had too much salt, as did the green sauce paired with it. We finished our dinner with a vanilla bean cheesecake paired with a lime sorbet. The lime sorbet was crisp and citrus filling. I devoured every last bite of it. The cheesecake itself was good, but nothing spectacular. If I ever come back, it would be for the starters and dessert. Overall, it was an ok food experience. In regards to service, our waitress provided great service though. She constantly checked up on us and made sure we were taken care of.

Came here with the hubby for our anniversary and we loved it! Small cons: we had about a 10 min wait although we had a reservation and they didn’t have scallops that day :(However, the crab cake and burger were delicious. The waiter was great and we were given a cute anniversary decorated dessert after our meal. Also had a nice view of the river, in spite of the rain. Can’t wait to go back!

YUM!!! Our first time here and we will definitely be back soon! I recommend checking out their Sunday brunch. For $ 39 you get two courses which also includes the dessert buffet. So freaking good! For an extra $ 14 you get endless mimosas and bloody Mary’s! The service was really good as well. Oh and the pastries they give you are to die for! Plus there are some great places to take pictures on top with awesome views. Definitely a top favorite place of mine:)

Definitely on the pricey side but the dining experience was definitely wonderful. Can’t say I’ll be here often of course due to price. The food was great I had the rainbow trout and my date had crab cakes. We both enjoyed our meals and afterward went on the dock to get a great view of the Ben Franklin bridge. I was also able to save $ 20 on my first time reservation at Moshulu by booking online and using Open Table which also made the experience even better. The waitress was knowledgeable about most things on the item and definitely engaged us with conversation as she brought out our food items. Can’t wait to visit again.

One of my favorite places in the city for special occasions, or just when you want a fancier meal! They’ve changed their menu a few times in the last few years, but I’ve always loved everything I order. Expensive but very worth it, and the views from the tables are beautiful! I normally make a reservation, but it never seems overly packed. I still need to try the bar(s) and the brunch! Make sure to try the martini with blue cheese olives and pickle brine– this is the drink that lead me to fall in love with martinis!

Came here on a Sunday brunch with 12 people. Obviously with a lot of people reservations were made ahead of time(definitely recommended). They sat us at the biggest table they claimed to have which was right in front of the piano. It was quite hard for us to hear each other and we requested to be moved somewhere else but then they said we would have had to be separated on different tables so we just dealt with it. After quite some time we kind of zoned it out. 1. First course was the smoked salmon. It was very good but I tried other people’s tuna tartar and it was so good. Definitely recommended. 2. Main course I got the fried chicken and waffles. The chicken was fried perfectly but the grits on top of the waffles made it super soggy. I wish they provided syrup as well. The dessert buffet was amazing! The cremee brulet and this chocolate mousse thing was amazing. I would definitely recommend this place for brunch and will be coming back soon

I went here on Valentine’s Day(this review is a little late) but my Valentine and I were just talking about our experience. First of all, the service was great and the atmosphere was nice albeit outdated but that was part of its charm. The food, however was mediocre and the prices were too high. I really thought I’d be wowed by this place and I left thinking, «Meh.» All in all it was not a bad experience but I don’t think I’ll be back.

Moshulu is a unique dining experience on a stationary boat, so for those of you who are prone to motion sickness, you need not worry here. If you’re lucky, you’ll snag a window seat so you can check out the(beautiful?) Delaware River while you dine. Don’t worry about the black, plastic trash bags floating past your window — it’s all a part of the experience! The food at Moshulu is seriously on-point, albeit on the pricy side. The pork belly appetizer was divine and I thoroughly enjoyed the duck for my entreé. My husband ordered the swordfish and while I’m not the biggest fan of seafood, I was begging him for more than just a bite of his food. I’m not sure if I would hurry back to Moshulu, but it’s a nice option for a special occasion.

This year my wife chose Philadelphia to celebrate her birthday. I was in charge of most of the arrangements and plans but there was one thing which she was certain about: she wanted her birthday dinner to take place at Moshulu. We had been there once before for a late lunch but really didn’t get a chance to appreciate all aspects of it. This time we wanted to experience Moshulu in full. We got all dolled up, our driver arrived at 7pm for our 7:15 reservation and we headed out. Upon arrival, no other restaurant is as unique or striking at Moshulu. Its the only tall ship restaurant in the world and sits on the river in all its glory in magnificent condition. The backdrop– the river and the Camden cityline add to the wow affect. Upon boarding we were met by the host/manager who greeted us warmly and professionally. He asked if we had reservations, we did. After checking my coat, we were escorted to a wonderful table with river views. There were only a few other diners in that section so the atmosphere was quiet and relaxed. Our waiter introduced himself and presented the days specials. Again, very professional and courteous. For appetizer we ordered the Artisan Cheese Platter and the Pan Seares Spanish Octopus. Both were tasty although the cheese was quite filling and if I wanted to enjoy my main course, I could not finish it. For main course I had the 14oz Rib Eye cooked medium rare. My wife had the Pan Seared Diver Sea Scallops. The rib eye was perfect. Oh my god. Melt in your mouth juicy with just the right amount of fat. I can still feel the sensation in my mouth. My wife enjoyed her Scallops as well. It wasnt until we were almost finished with our meal that we realized they had left a birthday card on the table for my wife. It was a very nice touch that made her feel extra special. A much nicer touch than a group of employees hovering over a table singing happy birthday. After dinner we took time to explore the ship; the upper level as well as the deck. For an old ship, maintenance and upkeep were definitely top notch. If you need a spot to celebrate life’s great moments, I highly recommend Moshulu. Look forward to returning.

Came for my sisters birthday. Cool concept to have dinner on a ship, however, that’s just about as good as it gets. Food: overpriced food for bland or heavily salted foods. appetizers — we got the octopus which was okay. I love octopus and this was by far my least favorite as it lacked in flavor and overcooked so it was rubbery. We also got overpriced fried calamari which was nothing special. Entrees — steak was steak, nothing special to cost an arm and a leg(save your money for chima if you’re going to get steak here), I got scallops and they were just okay. They didn’t have any flavor but we’re cooked perfectly. Very small portion so I was still hungry lol. Crab cakes my sister got was the best dish we got there. Very full of flavors but again, was still hungry afterwards. And we also got salmon, which i did not like at all. It tasted almost like burnt salted fish. We got a couple of sides which tasted like sides. whoever complains about sides are pathetic unless it’s inedible where hair is in it etc lol. Drinks were good. Service: our service wasn’t as great as Id expected, but I guess it does take a while to walk around that ship when everything’s leaning to one side. I thought I had too much to drink, but no, you’re leaning. Lol. That, I did not like. Overall, wouldn’t pay to come here unless someone’s treating me lol. But even then, Id recommend a different restaurant.

I’ve seen this place. I’ve heard of this place. And I’ve been dying to go to this place, and yesterday was the day. Just to get things started, I will start with the appearance. The theme on the boat is remarkable. Similar to the titanic, and the staff is super friendly! As we were seated, we were greeted with rock hard dinner rolls. I felt like I was in the Flintstones trying slice the roll in half and crack the bread open with my teeth. The butter given to use with the bread was very very VERY delicious. This is what kept me chipping at those rock hard rolls. Next, my drink. I ordered a Raspberry Peach Cosmo and just to give everyone a heads up, it was very strong. I was quite surprised, but as a college student, I can handle any type of drink thrown at me. The service was okay. Our waiter just checked up on us periodically, and the wait time for the food to come out was longer than average. Overall, this is a great restaurant for a date, or just a classy night out. I just expected the waiter to be a little more attentive.

Super classy, super expensive, excellent ambience. The piano was played the whole night. My boyfriend took me here for our Valentine’s Day dinner. They had a prix fix dinner and that was the only menu they were serving from that night. At $ 125 per person with automatic gratuity of 20% I had high expectations. The menu had three courses plus dessert. Each course had about four to eight options. All portions are decent size. First course: I had the gnocchi and bf had the short rib. The gnocchi was really good, very flavorful. Short rib was good, but gnocchi was better. Second course: We both got the lobster bisque. It was so yummy, the bisque itself had a seafood, lobster taste! There was also bites of lobster, a pleasant surprise. Third course: I got the halibut and bf got the swordfish. Both were very good portion. The swordfish had some blue cheese(I’m not a fan of blue cheese) on it which I didn’t like but the dish itself very good. I enjoyed my dish, which came with mash potatoes and small sticks of fried potatoes. Both were very good compliments to the dish. Dessert: The restaurant gives each person a chocolate cake and a tropical passion cake. Both tastes so good, but I enjoyed the tropical passion more. Overall, definitely a really nice dinner. I’ll try to come again when they serve the regular menu. Four stars only due to the prix fix menu for Valentine’s Day and automatic gratuity.

The food is a little overpriced, but overall it is worth the dining experience. You are getting great service in a more elegant(white table cloth) environment. By far the best thing we ate was the steak tartare appetizer. It was phenomenal. The lobster bisque and porcini mushroom gnocchi were born good. I would stay away from the sushi. We got one roll and the pieces were HUGE and had to be bit in half– which is never enjoyable with sushi! On top of that, the sushi wasn’t very good or flavorful. This is a better spot for good weather because it is not in close proximity to other places so if you want to walk around or go anywhere before or after dinner winter weather makes that difficult. They have a parking lot. I believe it was $ 10 to park. I would recommend going here for special occasions only and to stick to some of their more traditional menu options.

Absolutely livid at the unprofessionalism of this restaurant. My parents came to town for the first time and were very excited to come to the coolest restaurant in Philly(on a clipper ship, seems pretty cool!). I made a reservation through opentable and they called a few days before to confirm the reservation. Took an über accross the city because we planned on having a few drinks. My parents don’t eat seafood but were excited for ordering steak and the ambiance. Arrived and was shocked to see only the price fixed menu was available… for $ 125 a person!!! On top of that the menu was predominantly seafood. I asked if would be possible to order not price fixe, but was told no. I was never informed of this on Opentable nor when I received a reminder call. We walked out of the restaurant! On Valentine’s Day weekend it was impossible to get into any other decent restaurant. We ended up eating wings at a bar. Great impression on my family from out of town. I will certainly not be returning.

I’d definitely say it’s worth making a first-time trip, but I’m not sure I’d come again unless it was to try brunch or hang out on the outdoor portion of the restaurant. I love the concept of eating on a boat; eating is one of the most enjoyable and frequent activities that I engage in, and it’s fun to switch up the atmosphere a little bit every once in awhile. That being said, the boat was hauntingly quiet, kind of dark, and just generally somber on the evening that my boyfriend and I dined here. I can’t speak to whether or not this is the norm, as it was a frigid Tuesday night in the middle of winter. Drinks were good, the St. James Lemonade was bomb. Food was definitely a little above average, but expensive. I’d definitely recommend scooping a Living Social deal if you see one. We shared: –Crab mac n’ cheese –Philadelphia roll –Brussels sprouts –Braised short rib gnocchi The portions weren’t huge, but we ended up having to take home a small box of mac and a few pieces of sushi because we were full. Everything was good, but the mac and sprouts were my favorites. It happened to be my birthday, and our(really friendly & helpful) waitress brought out a complimentary scoop of sorbet with a candle in it at the end of the meal. Overall, it was a nice, quiet evening with solid food, but you’re definitely paying a premium to be eating on the river.

If you’re in Philadelphia and you feel like pampering yourself; head here. The restaurant is on an antique ship, beautifully maintained. The buffet plenty and colorful. The place is excellent for brunch, and a place for getting fancy. The food quality is forgettable, but let’s face it, you’re really here for the experience of it all.

We’ve been wanting to visit the Moshulu for a long time and finally, after a Living Social deal presented itself, we decided the time had arrived. We’ve always admired this beautiful ship and have always thought it would be a cool setting for a nice dinner out. In a nutshell, it’s an expensive restaurant with decent to good food and service and a wonderful atmosphere. On a scale of 1 – 10, we’d rate the food(overall) and service a 7 and we’d rate the atmosphere a 10. Prices were high for the quality of food. Most appetizers were around $ 12 – 14. Most entrees were in the $ 30-$ 35 range, with the cheapest being $ 25. Desserts were also expensive… most around $ 10-$ 12. A martini was $ 13.50. For these prices, we expect to be «wowed» by the food. My appetizer was the crab mac & cheese($ 12), which was very tasty overall, however it was served warm(not hot) and I needed to add salt as it was a bit under-seasoned. I got the salmon entrée($ 31) which was the typical type of dish where the fish is served atop some kind of creamed vegetables and artfully arranged. This entrée was generally good, although the entire dish was a bit dry. Hubby got the butternut squash soup($ 10) which he said was very good and for his entrée, the gnocchi($ 25) which we both agreed was the best thing we ate at the restaurant. It was excellent. Hubby did comment that it was served warm and not hot, however. We shared a dessert called, «Butterscotch Budino»($ 10) which was a fancy butterscotch pudding and it was average to good. The ship is really beautiful with lots of dark wood and an old school dining atmosphere. We appreciated the laid back music that was playing at a reasonable volume. We could have a nice conversation and hear each other. The atmosphere was elegant. In summary, you pay a lot to eat here and what you are paying for is atmosphere. For us, food matters first and I can’t see us clamoring to go back to Moshulu for the food, but the atmosphere was really killer. Maybe we’ll return for cocktails in the summer, when we can have them on the outside deck.

I was pleasantly surprised about this place. My boyfriend and I were strolling along the riverfront and decided to come in for a drink(and to warm up bc it was freeeezing outside). They have a nice selection of whiskeys and scotches as well as(strong!) cocktails. The bartender was very friendly and told us that we could sit near the window instead of the bar. There’s a beautiful view looking out to the Ben Franklin bridge. We started to get hungry and were deciding to either stay at Moshulu or head out to another restaurant(not many choices open on New Years Day). I was a bit hesitant, looking over the menu and thinking that the restaurant’s food was probably mediocre being a boat and tourist trap, but we went ahead to the dining area to sit down and order food. We ordered: — prime beef steak tartare: wow. The tartare was topped with caviar and a quail egg ~ very nice textures. I’m quite picky with my steak tartare, this one was amazing and had the perfect amount of salt and flavors. — foie gras appetizer: another wow. The flavors went very well together. — kale salad with butternut squash: a beautiful fall salad. Greens were all fresh. — butternut squash soup: very delicious. Perfect texture and the right amount of cream and salt. — pan seared Scottish salmon: interesting flavor combo — goat cheese curry aioli, green apple, orange ginger reduction, cauliflower galette. The salmon was a teensy bit over cooked for my taste, but let’s just say that I cleaned my plate(except for the charred carrots, I don’t like carrots). — porcini mushroom gnocchi: I was blown away by this dish. Actually, my boyfriend asked me if I wanted to switch dishes, deep down I really wanted to but I let him have it: p The tomato confit was perfect. I took one star off for the service. I wouldn’t actually say the service was fine dining level: they didn’t take away the wine glasses after we ordered our food; I had requested for water with no ice which they brought out at first but thereafter continued to refill with ice water. Grrr. The prices are pretty high, but we both thought it was worth it. It’s a romantic setting with a beautiful night view. I do wish that they reinforced the dress code more. We were dressed up while the customers around us were wearing hoodies and sneakers. All in all, I’d return.

We went tonight(NYE) and could NOT be more disappointed!!! We were a party of six, had a reservation for 6:30 and didn’t leave until 10pm. There was a fixed menu of $ 125 a person(that went up to $ 195 a person at 7pm seating). We spent $ 1200+ at our table and never had a water or bread refill without having to ask for it at least twice(literally). As each course came out, they were missing one person’s food– every time– so we patiently waited for our last plate to get to the table to eat and ended up eating cold food all night. Five of us ordered filet mignon– 1 didn’t come out until we had to ask for it and one(ordered MR) came out far past well done(By this point, our party was making the best of the situation and laughing at how horrible this dinner was going and I believe the joke involved the words«hockey puck»). We waited for our next round of wine for 20 mins each time we ordered it and we never offered any apologies or explanations for our extended wait. The restaurant was only half full at any given time and the servers seemed to be moving without any sense of urgency(probably due to the 20% gratuity added to the bill). None of us will ever be back! The worst $ 1200 ever spent! We will be sure to tell our friends!

Beautiful candlelit atmosphere with a gaze on the Delaware River. You pay for the ambiance. It’s a little bit pricey but it’s really about the atmosphere. Great place for a date. We went there on New Years Eve, had a reservation, and were never informed that there was a pre-selected menu at $ 195.00 a person. No thanks. Went to the bar and they were not serving any food. Cocktail menu was decent, but only two beers on draft. Bartenders were excellent and attentive.

We came here for a work Christmas party, and had a great time! You can tell the boat is a bit dated and has that old 80’s type décor, but that adds to it’s charm. It does feel like you are a bit on a smaller version of the Titanic, which is also kind of cool. At the buffet I had the sweet potatoes, brussel sprouts, salmon and ravioli, all were really good. I also loved their mini dessert display, with the red velvet and pumpkin ones being my favorite. Upstairs they had karaōke, which was really fun. There are several areas on the boat, so if you are here with a work event everyone will be split up over multiple tables and rooms. This is a cool venue to try something different and have fun for a work function!

We had a company sponsored holiday party here at the Moshulu a few days ago with Beer/Wine package as well as appetizers and dinner included, and the boat inside and outside blew me away. It was so beautiful, and the waiters, waitresses, and bartenders were all incredibly friendly. There was a photo booth, a DJ, a dance floor, and a karaōke session. And it was just so much fun! I’m glad I came here first for a company sponsored event though because as a vegetarian it’s hard to find food and restaurants like this but I got really lucky. For dinner, they had a salad bar, Mushroom Ravioli, Seasoned Brussel Sprouts, Potatoes, Mashed Potatoes, and slices of steak and something else. And dessert was incredible as well — fruit tarts, mini red velvet cakes, mini chocolate cakes, chocolate mousse, crème brûlée, and so much more!

So my fiancé was in Mexico for 2 weeks visiting family and I decided that when he returned, i would surprise him with dinner here. It was restaurant week and he loved it when we came for his birthday last year. I brought our 10yr old and my cousin with me to pick him up from the airport so we could go straight to dinner. We arrived early and they were able to seat us after a few minutes. Our server was new from what he stated. Our appetizers came out timely and taste delicious. I had the tuna tartar which was refreshing. Our 10 yr old had the Cesar salad which she loved and that’s a big thing considering she is a picky eater and usually doesn’t care for veggies. For our entrees, all the food came out except for our daughter’s chicken. We had to ask for her dish. When it came out, she didn’t like it at all. Our meals were all very delicious though. Our cousin had the burger which was very juicy and flavorful. I had the braised ribs and it was superb. For dessert, we all ordered different things and I had a coupon for a free one. Well all the desserts came out but our daughter’s was completely wrong. It took about 10 minutes for her to finally get the correct one. Overall I think we just got a server who didn’t know what he was doing. As a former server myself, I know to always check the food that I am bringing to the table and to check on be guest quickly in case of any errors. He didn’t do that so the time in between each error was longer than it should have been. Also he did not take responsibility for any of his errors. He blamed everything on the kitchen and the runners. At the end of the day, he should have checked everything for his customers. We will be back one day but hopefully we get better service because the food is good.

This place looked promising since I’ve never actually had dinner on a boat. It’s quite pretty on the top of the boat, but of course we were not seated up there. It looked like there might have been a private event up there. We were finally seated down below, where there is a lot of room. It is HUGE. We got seated at a window by the water, but it was the water facing the dock. :( The food was nothing spectacular. The tuna appetizer was the only somewhat appetizing thing that we ordered. The crab cake entrée was not good at all. I could barely finish it. The worst part of the experience is the service. The servers are all quite nice, but they are extremely inattentive. It is so difficult to get their attention to even refill your drink or to even order. They are just whisking right by you very quickly without looking. Overall, I would not come here again. It’s just another tourist trap.

There are a few factors that go into this. First, most importantly the food was quite good. As I’ve said in my reviews before, sometimes places like this are all flash and hype with no substance. I was rather impressed by the swordfish which is quite difficult to make well. The bok choy was good but a bit salty. I’m not a fan or ravioli in particular but I even enjoyed that too(though it was my least liked thing on the table) Secondly, we were running late and had to push our reservation back 30 mins. I thought there might not be a table especially by the water like I had requested but they still accommodated. Major points. Unfortunately, the service was below expectations which is sad bc it made our night less enjoyable. We never got any bread and he never even filled out water glasses or asked if we wanted anything to drink. When we asked what the table next to us had, he didn’t know but guessed and it was wrong because the dish had some kind of seafood in it but the item he guessed didn’t. When it was time to order dessert, he was hard to find. The venue and food made it 4 – 5 stars. the service was 3. not the worst and major points in accommodating our change in reservation time.

We went here for the 90s/2000s/Top 40 dance party they have on Sunday’s and it was so much fun! $ 5 cover, but barely any drink specials. $ 4 beers, $ 7 mix drinks, $ 9 wines, and $ 12 top shelf?! Damn. But the view was amazing. There’s so much room on the boat. And there’s two bars. They also had a table set up to get beer only but it looked like it was cash only. We’ll definitely be back. I’ve been wanting to dine here so hopefully I get that opportunity soon.

Came here for dinner on a Saturday night. I didn’t have any trouble getting a reservation. We waited about 10 minutes to be seated, even though there were plenty of empty tables. I wanted to sit upstairs on the top deck but it was closed for a private event. We were seated by a window on the side of the boat that was at the dock so there wasn’t anything to look at and the ground was not level so the chairs were on a slant. The bread basket was great. I ordered the salmon which was very good. The service was okay but a little slow. Overall 3.5 stars, I expected a little more in terms of the service and quality of food for the cost.
