It’s a dive bar with locals. Always quiet. Very chill and good environment. Plus they do take out beer which is awesome

What a great little neighborhood bar in Fishtown. The place has a great mixed crowd. I like to go in here late night on Saturdays for the karaōke debacle. Its hilarious. Place is a total gem! Kinda reminds me of the Star Wars bar. Things can get totally weird and I like it.

Les and Doreen’s is a great little neighborhood dive bar. It is literally down the block from me so it’s a perfect place to start/end my night. Lots of cheap beer and mixed drinks, happy patrons, friendly bartenders, and 80’s/90’s spectacular music. You used to be able to smoke there so your coat would reek of cigarettes but not anymore so that’s a plus. It’s definitely a weird mix of folks but people always seem to be drunk and having a blast. Quizzo is great and the DJ is really sweet. Oh and Doreen will whisper answers to you if you are struggling. What a lady.

Les and Doreen’s is my jam, I don’t even care. One time I went, there were f*cking corgis walking around. A great mix of diehard Fishtown residents and hipsters. Such an interesting crowd. You can easily get the bartenders to open up and have fun. The drinks are dirt cheap — $ 3.50 for a rum & coke and it ain’t skimpy, either. Take out beer. I haven’t eaten the food because I’m a little scared of it. Some 50-something year-old dude is always putting Pink on the jukebox. This is the best place to go if it’s raining or snowing and you just want to walk up the street and get drunk. It reeks of smoke in a very endearing way, but I haven’t seen anyone smoke in there in a while, I wonder what’s up with that.

Bartender was kind of rude, but this place is cheap and for a dive bar it hardly had any dive bar regulars in it. It was semi busy on a Monday night, mostly a younger crowd. They only have chips and crackers for food.

This place scared the crap out of me — and I love dive bars. And I wanted to love this place! We saw a lady licking another lady’s face. At 9pm. Maybe I just wasn’t in the right frame of mind, or maybe Friday isn’t a good night to «test drive» this bar.

Les & Doreen’s Happy Tap is without question the greatest neighborhood bar in the city of Philadelphia. If you’re looking for reasonably priced drinks, friendly bartenders, and exciting clientele, you’ve found the spot. Show up any time with a friend or two and order a beer. Before you know it, you’ll be drawn into the cozy atmosphere and wondering why you ever went anywhere else.

Small dive bar with cheap drinks that allows smoking. We were there on a Saturday night and they had Karaōke. It was actually pretty fun. The bathrooms are small and not very clean. The crowd was friendly and the fireworks they shot off on the corner around 1am were fun to watch.

Les and Doreen’s is an institution that I warmed up to quickly after I moved to the neighborhood. It’s where I first learned that I was a yuppie(a label later to be rescinded after a night of getting tanked with some local guys), it’s where I first learned of the wonders of the bucket of ponies, and it has become the perfect end to any disaster/wonderful evening. At any given time(day or night) you will find the bar stocked with hipsters, old drunks, local gals out for a night of fun, or a dozen gay men. If you’re lucky, it’ll be all of the above. I have seen women dancing on the bar get hit in the head with the ceiling fan. I’ve seen a gay man humping a bar stool. I once got into a protracted argument with a delusional New Yorker about how the fact that he made sure to mention his Ferrari made him the biggest douche-bag I’ve ever met(the fact that he lives in a tiny apartment in NNJ put him into the running for biggest douche-bag worldwide). Karaōke night is something that you won’t believe until you experience it. The bartenders are top notch. Mixed drinks are strong and cheap. Beer is cold and never empty. These women are pros. They may not be 18 year old blondes in bikinis, but damnit, they know how to keep you lubricated. The food is greasy, cheap, and perfect for the location. They actually make a decent steak sandwich, which is nice. L&D’s is always a bad decision and a great time!

Favorite Fishtown bar hands down. Drinks are cheap and are weird prices like 2.60 for a whiskey and diet coke. Cheap beer, they carry local microbrew so even beer snobs can get down. Staff is friendly, the regulars are quite varied in age and drunkeness, and they have food which I have never tried. Come at like 8 on a Friday for karaōke, be sure to eat a pickled tomato

I love this place sooooo much, would give 5 stars but I can not stand cig smoke! I have a «Les and Doreen’s tuxedo» that I’ve reserved for going here. It’s old sweats and ratty t shirt, and i fit right in. So close to perfection…

If you look up «neighborhood dive bar» in the dictionary, you will see a picture of Les & Doreen’s Happy Tap. You gotta respect a place that is what it is and makes no apologies. Do not go here if you are: sensitive to cigarette smoke, looking for a selection of microbrews, boring Do go here if you are: on a budget, looking for a cheap late night snack(they have a very extensive diner-like menu), wanting to do karaōke on a Saturday night, sick of kraftwork Enjoy!

First things first so you don’t go getting all confused. Les n’ Doreen’s Happy Tap is a real live Fishtown bar. It’s a dive bar, a neighborhood bar, a cheap as crap, sometimes loud, always smoke filled, half depressing/half fabulous dive bar. You are not getting fancy craft beers here and you will like it. I live one block from L&D so it’s my corner bar and has saved me from being sober when broke or too tired or cold to venture more than a block from my house on many occasions. Some advice for the ladies– are you pretty, even remotely so? You will get hit on or stared at. Expect it, embrace it even. The drinks are dirt cheap and poured to please. They seem to specialize in buckets of pony bottle beers, something that seems embedded into Fishtown culture. I think my favorite drink, Jameson(well, it’s Powers really but they don’t have it) and ginger is like $ 2.85 or $ 3.15 or something crazy like that. The bottled beer selection isn’t half bad and they also sell it to go. The jukebox is surprisingly good but if you’re really lucky you’ll witness or even partake in the karaōke. I think it’s every Saturday night but don’t quote me on that. They even had it during that crazy blizzard of ’09 when I may or may not have belted out Poison’s Nothin’ but a Good Time on the microphone. I don’t know that I’d go out of my way to travel to L&D but the one block voyage really does float my boat.

My favorite neighborhood bar. Sharron is the best! Always keeping our bottles full! I hear the food is pretty good too, but I haven’t had the chance to eat there yet

Some nights, this is the perfect place. The Karaōke is fun and casual. The drinks are stiff and cheap. And there is usually something good on the HD flatscreens. I watched most of the Summer Olympics there, and I quite enjoyed it. However, this is definitely a local bar. I wouldn’t go out of my way to visit. But if you live nearby, or are in the neighborhood, it is a good time. Warning! Smoking is allowed and seemingly encouraged.
